Survivalist announce new EP; stream first single 'Infinity'
Irish metal crossover outfit Survivalist confront grief head on with ‘Infinity’, the first single from their forthcoming EP Four Nails, due for release on 13th November via Seek and Strike. Drawing on deeply personal experiences of cancer, loss and recovery the track channels pain into something powerful, a reminder that even in our darkest moments, hope remains.

Commenting on the single, Survivalist said: "'Infinity' explores the anger and grief surrounding cancer, drawing from guitarist Nick’s brother’s battle and recovery, and my own experience having lost a brother to cancer. Ultimately, it’s a message of hope, resilience and reminding people that there is always light beyond the darkest moments."
That combination of uncompromising heaviness and emotional honesty runs throughout Four Nails, which finds the four-piece reconnecting with the heavier influences that shaped them growing up. Following their January 2026 album A Place for Those Who Suffer, Alone, the EP represents a more direct reflection of the band as they are today. With a more streamlined and natural writing process, Survivalist have embraced a more aggressive edge while retaining the sense of hope at the heart of their music.
Across four tracks, deathcore and metalcore collide with groove-driven riffs, crushing breakdowns and two-step passages, with songs exploring mental and physical health, the state of the world and historical figures. Written with the live environment in mind, the material is built for the pit as much as personal reflection, balancing cathartic aggression with themes that reward a closer listen.
“Most importantly, these four tracks feel like a true reflection of the band we’ve become,” the band explain. “If you’re into heavy music, there’s something here for you.”
Formed in Belfast, Ireland, Survivalist blend metalcore, deathcore and groove metal into their self-described ‘groovecore’ sound. Since their 2021 debut album VII, the band have steadily built their reputation through intense live performances and emotionally charged songwriting, sharing stages with Thy Art Is Murder, Chelsea Grin, Polaris, Suffocation, Atreyu, Kublai Khan, Party Cannon, Heriot and Distant, among others. Their latest full-length, A Place for Those Who Suffer, Alone, further explored isolation, anxiety and self-worth, earning coverage from outlets including Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Metal Injection, Clash, Notion Magazine and Lambgoat.
For Survivalist, music is ultimately about turning personal struggles and trauma into something positive that others can connect with. They make no claim to have all the answers; instead, they offer an honest acknowledgement of the fears and hardships we share, creating music that provides both escapism and a reminder to keep moving forward. With Four Nails, that message arrives with renewed force and ‘Infinity’ sets the tone with a powerful reminder that even when life takes us to our darkest places, there is still light to be found.
