Blackened tech-metal project Echopraxia premieres spooky video from upcoming Halloween inspired EP
Echopraxia_Promo 3 small.jpg

Blackened tech-metal project ECHOPRAXIA has unveiled new video 'Ratzinger's Waltz' taken from Halloween inspired EP Pumpkin Palace, set for release on 31 October.

Premiered, on Metal Injection, check it out here: https://youtu.be/JcxCOzMyvtY

Project mastermind Austin Woodward recently gave his top five tips for spooky playing to Gear Gods, check it out here: http://geargods.net/tutorials/echopraxia-top-5-tips-for-spookier-playing/

ECHOPRAXIA’s second EP is five instrumental cinematic tracks inspired by composer Danny Elfman’s 'Halloween' theme, as well as his score for 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'. Influences also include the jazz innovator Django Reinhardt, the rhythmically aberrant Vildhjarta, the blackened darkness of Dimmu Borgir and J.S. Bach, a cornerstone of western melody.

The resulting combination of these influences is a haunting, abrasive, intricately melodic and dynamically heavy listen, with a cheeky touch of humour.

Pumpkin Palace needs to be the Halloween soundtrack for every metal fan.

Instrumental prog artist SCHIERMANN announces debut album and premieres new song
Promo1.jpg

Guitarist Chris Schiermann has announced the launch of his solo project SCHIERMANN and self-titled debut album, set for release on 8 December.

Gear Gods have premiered 'Technical Disabilities' from the album, check it out here: https://youtu.be/UzmgGdZmCdw

Over the past decade Chris has been writing, recording and perfecting his talent, and has become well known in the technical music community, making friends with the likes of Animals As Leaders, Tesseract, Disperse and many more. Based in Omaha, Nebraska, his house equipped with home studio is a regular stop off for touring bands to hang out, BBQ, drink beer and of course jam. Throughout this time Chris has been tirelessly working on his solo project, and with the help of some of these friends, his debut solo album has come into fruition.

The SCHIERMANN self-titled debut is a journey of adventurous, infectious melodies and intelligent grooves topped off with a large dose virtuoso lead work inspired by many players across the decades. Chris’ first love Randy Rhoads’ style is very present, along with the grit of Van Halen, finesse of Steve Vai and the inventiveness of Tosin Abasi.

Many players whom Chris jammed with over the years make very special appearances - Matt Gartska (Animals As Leaders),  Adrian Terrazas-Gonzales (Mars Volta), Acle Kahney and Amos Williams (TesseracT), Joe Lester (Intronaut), Navene Koperweis (Entheos),  Mike Malyan and Jakub Zytecki (DispersE), Chris Maresh (Eric Johnson), Ashe O’Hare (Voices from the Fuselage), and last but certainly not least, his son, Zach Schiermann – making this not only a celebration of his work, but the progressive / tech metal scene as a whole.

With a live show in the works, SCHIERMANN will be touring the US and Europe throughout 2018.

Paceshifters are notorious for bringing an audience to its feet in full appreciation, and this forthcoming tour marks their first headline run in the UK and Germany. The band recently turned heads during an extensive 25 date stint with Frank Iero and the Patience; the trio were even joined on stage by Frank & co during the the final date of the tour. Paceshifters have also appeared at high profile festivals such as Woodstock (Poland), GroezrockZwarte CrossPinkpopExit, Rock for People and SXSW; an impressive accolade in itself for a band at such a young age.

Inspired by the grunge movement that shook the foundations of alternative music, Paceshifters bring an innovative twist on the genre whilst also boasting the complete unadulterated attitude that it was renowned for.

Possessing a no-nonsense mentality since their inception, Paceshifters have evolved into a devoutly passionate new grunge-rock band with a sound that is sure to enthrall any listener who enjoys the heavier side of Nirvana with doses of powerful Incubus-esque melodies and riffs along with the grit and energy of Chevelle. However, drawing comparisons doesn’t do Paceshifters justice; where the band exhibit their gifted uniqueness in spades is throughout new album Waiting To Derail.

Phoenix Calling are touring in support of their forthcoming album Our Lost Hearts, which is due for release on the 17th November 2017.

Check out the band's latest single 'Time Runs Out' here: https://youtu.be/RYrcZsuLCh4

Returning with a more mature and eclectic sound, Our Lost Hearts is 11 tracks of huge melodies and wall of sound guitars that range from feel good and energetic to emotive and anthemic. More of a collective effort than its predecessor Forget Your Ghosts, each member brings their own styles and influences to the table.

Lyrically Our Lost Hearts tackles issues about society, people and life, as guitarist vocalist Dom Greenwood explains:

“The underlining theme is about people and what can happen to them through-out daily life, experiences and where life can take you. There are references and themes about homelessness, mental health, war, relationships, love, loss and family. The idea that people often have to put on a disguise to just get through the day and live a life.”

Combined with their collective experience of touring the UK and Europe numerous times including a run supporting Young Guns, and appearances at Fort Fest, Lynn’s Festival (12000 cap) and Vi Festival in Krakow Poland, the band return as seasoned pros ready to take their music to the masses.

Entertainment One / Lifeblood Inc. signs Australian metal/hardcore quintet Earth Caller
shot 1.png

Melbourne, Australia's most exciting export, EARTH CALLER, has signed with Entertainment One / Lifeblood, Inc. and released a brand new music video for their single, 'Fall'. This is the first new music from their forthcoming LP Crystal Death, set for release 18 January 2018.

Premiered on New Noise, check out 'Fall' featuring guest vocalist Sophie Jest here: https://youtu.be/0Bo1cMNsspA

"This song is about a bit of a messy break up I had and the process of how it came to unfold," says EARTH CALLER vocalist Josh Collard. "I was a bit of a mess myself at the time and more or less realised that we were both guilty of similar things which is why Sophie Jest (who features on the track and acts in the video) sings the chorus back at me in the bridge"

"Lyrically this album is far more personal and emotional. Sonically it’s heavier, faster and more melodic. Honestly, the band has never been more proud of a body of work than we are of this album and judging by the overwhelmingly positive response we’ve already received when we perform new material live - it appears the fans are into too!"

The single 'Fall' is also being offered as an iTunes instant gratification track, so fans who pre-order the album via iTunes will get the song as an immediate download.

Track-listing:

1. Pipe Dreams
2. Sucka
3. No Forgiveness
4. Exposed
5. Dying Beside You
6. Never In Never Around
7. A Ghost
8. Fall ft. Sophie Jest
9. Mirror
10. May 16
11. Hold On ft. Taylar Paige

These are days of tumult and turmoil, when good people grow tired of the worsening status quo. Revolution comes in multiple guises, from armed insurrection to cultural shifts. EARTH CALLER is a call to arms, a loud rallying cry to mobilise, inspire and revolt.

These five men from Melbourne, Australia adeptly combine the urgent bare-knuckled hardcore sound and spirit of First Blood, Terror and Madball with the crushingly massive metallic bounce of modern metalcore. There’s even a bit of the ragged melodies of punk legends like NOFX and Bad Religion. It’s all driven by the socio-political consciousness and hip-hop feel of Rage Against The Machine, the frustration of the streets, and fused with the giant screamed choruses popularised by Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon

The catharsis of crushing guitars, polyrhythmic riffs, driving drums and the impassioned pleas of a hardscrabble singer won’t change the world on its own, but EARTH CALLER is a powerful tool to inspire the change within that helps lead to change worldwide.

INTERVALS announce new album and release new song ahead of UK/EU tour
DSC01752small.jpg

Revered progressive instrumental mastermind Aaron Marshall has announced the release of his 3rd full-length INTERVALS record, The Way Forward, on 1 December 2017. The LP is the follow-up to 2015’s highly acclaimed The Shape of Colour and is available to pre-order today (physical + digital) via www.intervalsmusic.net

INTERVALS have also unveiled lead track 'Touch and Go', check it out here: https://youtu.be/-Yrp2e21_Tc

Since 2011, Aaron Marshall / INTERVALS has been Canada's premier ambassador of progressive, instrumental guitar music. From 2012's innovative staple EP In Time through 2015's widely-lauded The Shape of Colour, Marshall has consistently been the voice of instrumental, guitar driven rock/metal from the north. The latest offering The Way Forward represents the natural evolution of Aaron's sound, effortlessly melding high energy riff driven rock, with lush, ethereal soundscapes, whilst consistently driving home memorable, thought provoking hooks. In 2016, Marshall toured in support of The Shape of Colour, headlining across North America and also as direct support to instrumental metal alumni, Animals As Leaders across Europe and North America. While becoming a household name in instrumental, guitar driven music, Intervals is poised to ascend beyond the glass ceiling in support of The Way Forward.

Says Marshall of the new album, “I'm really excited to begin sharing music from this album with everyone. This record is special to me in the sense that I really tried to channel some of the things that excited and interested me in music when I initially discovered my passion for it as a kid. 'The Way Forward' is a really interesting literary concept to me in the context of this record. While I explored some new ground with these songs, I managed to find those elements by way of acknowledging my past. Touch and Go is the first tune off the record and has that quintessential Intervals vibe to it, but also starts to open the door towards where the record is headed. Every song has its own thing going on and I'm excited for everyone to hear it all!”

Armed with a full band, Intervals are about to begin a headline tour of Europe with support from Polyphia and Nick Johnston. Canadian tour dates will be announced when available. See below for a current routing.

Track-listing:

1. Touch and Go

TRACK AND FIELD release video for 'Drown'
Track and Field - Promo 3 - credit to Graham Berry.jpg

Indie rock/emo quartet Track and Field released the video for their single 'Drown', the second taken from their debut album Natural Light, due for release on the 10th November through Beth Shalom Records.

Originally premiered via Punktastic, watch the video here: https://youtu.be/9f9sdofjDBw

'Drown' can be purchased here: http://smarturl.it/drown_single

Pre-orders of Natural Light are available here: http://smarturl.it/natural_light

See Track and Field live at one of the following shows:

04.11.2017 - Bolton, The Alma Inn
18.11.2017 - Leeds, The Key Club (w/ The Movielife & Wallflower)
25.11.2017 - Leeds, Temple Of Boom

Track and Field are a band with a punk rock past, seemingly at odds with their melodic present. The indie emo four piece from Leeds, UK, features current and ex-members of The Plight and grindcore outfit The Afternoon Gentlemen – strange bedfellows for a band whose sound has been described by Glasswerk as having “hazy melodic vibes... not since Taking Back Sunday’s debut record have we heard emo that’s been this well executed.”

The hardcore scene was an essential proving ground for the band, allowing them to sharpen their skill-set to a knifepoint before they began to cut a path out of their comfort zone with Track and Field. Between them, frontman and guitarist Michael Grogan, guitarist Jonathan Kirk, bassist Daniel Comlay and drummer John Defenzi have played in over 100 cities across 15 countries, on more than 20 tours. As part of The PlightTrack and Field members have played Reading and Leeds and Download Festival, while The Afternoon Gentlemen have sold over 8,000 physical records worldwide. These are no rookies, and their experience shows in their work with Track and Field.

In 2015, Track and Field self released their first EP You Are My Home. The EP’s single ‘World’ was played by Daniel P Carter on his BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, and off the back of it the band trended on both the AOL homepage and in the Huffington Post’s UK news section. The EP is cinematic and introspective, showing an emotional and musical maturity that the band have continued to on build ever since.

Their work may seem far removed from the DIY stages their punk and grind projects inhabit, but the principles are the same. Their indie rock is honest and hard-hitting, emotional and charged with adrenaline.

The crushing music of Fit For An Autopsy is for any fan of extreme metal, as it’s devoid of preachy politics or grandstanding soap-boxing, but its sound and fury is absolutely unflinching in purpose. The band expertly blends excessive-force fuelled death metal with atmospheric groove and impassioned personal diatribes, reflecting back the dark state of current events. Their fourth album, The Great Collapse, doesn’t waste time with fantasy bullsh*t or cliché gore horror. Fit For An Autopsy are metal guys, to be certain, but they grew up in the hardcore scene. They embrace the responsibility to put as much devoted purpose into their lyrics and message as they do into their dense, heady, songs, forging a magnificently powerful new post-deathcore.

“When I write a song, I’m trying to feel emotionally connected to it. I really don’t like saying things that don’t matter over music that I want to matter,” says Putney, guitarist, principal songwriter and cofounder. “We’ve always addressed serious topics going back to our first album. We aren’t a politically charged band up on a podium yelling at people – anybody can relate to the aggression, anger, frustration, and sadness often communicated in our music. But we absolutely raise important questions in the lyrics. Those themes are there to discover.”

Putney’s fellow guitarist/cofounder, Patrick Sheridan, strongly agrees. He emphasises that while the music of Fit For An Autopsy may evolve it will always be aggressive and will always have purpose. “We think it's important to carry that torch. Somebody's got to say something about the shit that's going on. If you're not using your music, which is a great platform, for something meaningful that you care about on some level, then you're kind of wasting it.”

The six-men of the New Jersey based group - which includes vocalist Joe Badolato, bassist Peter Spinazola, third guitarist Tim Howley, and drummer Josean Orta - put maximum intentionality into everything they do. They are constantly challenging themselves as musicians, adding to the band’s overall creative arsenal, connecting with audiences around the world, and supporting one another in the band as individual people.

Irish Sludge Metallers ZHORA Release Free Track Download Ahead of Headline Tour
zhora.jpg

Irish sludge powerhouse zhOra have released the latest single 'Infernal Liturgy' for free download ahead of their headline tour which starts October 20th. The track is taken from forthcoming sophomore album Ethos, Pathos, Logos which is released on 27 October.

Download 'Infernal Liturgy' for FREE here: https://zhora1.bandcamp.com/album/ethos-pathos-logos

Vocalist Colin Bolger comments: "Infernal Liturgy takes place right in the middle of the story. It deals with our main character "Riverchrist" and how he convinces a group of desperate tribespeople to resort to cannibalism and devour each other. We like to think of it as our demented death metal ballad. It's slimy yet angular and features our drummer Tom spitting a glorious vocal rhythm with some genuine venom. We took director Zoe Kavanagh, her camera crew and a group of our oldest friends to the forest for a few days in September and shot a mad new video which will be debuting soon. We used fake limbs, fire and skulls, lots of mushrooms, not enough cans and 27 litres of fake blood. Things got weird and sticky just just the way we like it and the result is a real horror show."

Over the span of six years zhOra have quickly become one of the most recognisable names in the burgeoning Irish metal scene. In this time the band has released one EP Feet Nailed to the Ground (2011) and their debut LP Almaz (2013), both releases garnering huge praise within the scene. Now in 2017, the band is set to undertake the next stage in their journey, Ethos, Pathos, Logos.

In the only predictable aspect of the band's sonic trajectory, Ethos, Pathos, Logos finds the band once again putting themselves under their own microscope and refining their approach. With a lush cover designed by acclaimed Visionary Artist Jake Kobrin, the record is zhOra's first back-to-back concept album, an hour long journey through past lives and cannibalism.

Pre-orders for Ethos, Pathos, Logos are available now via Big CartelBandcampiTunes and all other digital outlets.

Catch zhOra throughout October:

October 20 - On The Rox, Dublin
October 21 - The Poor Relation, Cork
October 27 - Central Arts, Waterford
October 28 - Fozzys, Clonmel
