After premiering their record on Clash Magazine last week, progressive post-rock sextet TALONS have now made a full stream of We All Know, via Holy Roar, available on SoundCloud.

Listen to We All Know now

We All Know can be purchased from here now.

Across the nine songs on their new album TALONS expertly weave multiple layers of instruments and beats, showcasing real compositional visceral powerexhibiting their skills in structure and dynamic control. The musical portraits the band paint take us through a variety of sonic landscapes rich in vivid imagery, from bleak to warm and everything in between.

The progressively ambitious sextet, who celebrate their tenth anniversary this year, excel with their third release, carving their own exciting niche in contemporary music. Led by a dual violin instrumentation, TALONS variously touch on world / folk music, with more than occasional allusions to Indian classical music; modern classical; and heavy, expansive post-rock.

Recorded in August 2017 at Greenmount Studios in Leeds, inside an old church, with Lee Smith and Jamie Lockhart at the controls, We All Know was mastered by long-time collaborator Tom Woodhead (¡Forward Russia!). This is the second album TALONS have recorded at Greenmount Studios following 2014’s New Topographics. The recording process was done live as a full band with very few overdubs in order to give the recordings a more intimate and direct feel.

Forming in 2008, TALONS signed with Big Scary Monsters in 2009, releasing their debut single, 'The Pearl' on 7” vinyl as well as a split single with And So I Watch You From Afar, featuring the song 'Bethlehem'.

The band recorded their debut album, Hollow Realm, releasing in November 2010 (CD - Big Scary Monsters; 12" vinyl - Topshelf Records; special extended CD - Xtal Records, Japan). It received critical acclaim, notably from BBC Music, Drowned In Sound, Rock Sound and The Line of Best FitTALONS also recorded a Radio 1 Maida Vale session for Huw Stephens, and toured the record across the UK and mainland Europe.

Four years later, TALONS returned with their second album, New Topographics. A change in mood, more rhythmic and expansive, the album again received high praise in the press, including DIY magazine, Clash and Drowned in Sound. The album was also ranked #2 best album of 2014 by Already Heard website. In promoting the album TALONS made notable appearances at ArcTanGent, Truck Festival, Damnation Festival and Tramlines, as well as support slots with Pianos Become the Teeth and Amenra.

Blackened Hardcore Quintet ATTAN Announce Debut Album

"ATTAN aren't so much a band that you can easily whack on while hoovering the flat but will more likely have you quivering naked in the foetal position in the corner." - Metal Hammer

Attan.jpg

ATTAN announce 7 September as the release date for their upcoming full-length End Of. via Fysisk Format.

As stated by MetalsucksATTAN's latest single "The Burning Bush Will Not Be Televised' has 'all the ingredients of an incendiary, sweaty basement show brimming with energy" and serves as a great introduction to End Of..

Give it a listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-8wlpSP0fw

End Of. is best listened to as a whole to truly understand the band's musical variety, ranging from crowd moving grooves as found in 'Feed The Primates', the whirlwind of riffs and screeching vocals in 'On Hands and Knees', to 'Black Liquid Marrow's' stacked sludgy melodies. They also manage to combine their entire sonic spectrum in the title track, which attacks your brain from every angle possible, ending the record on a massive, but well rounded note.

Already able to list playing Damnation Fest and touring with Conjurer to their list of achievements, as well as receiving words of praise from the likes of Metal Hammer magazine, ATTAN have an exhilarating path ahead of them. With the thunderous End Of., the Norwegian quintet prove they are heading down a promising road.

OPIA drop debut single 'Ascend'

New band featuring Heart of a Coward and ex-Hacktivist members

OPIA.jpg

OPIA, a new group from Milton Keynes, have arrived to showcase the evolution of heavy music right before your very eyes, starting with new single ‘Ascend’.

Check out 'Ascend' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sy1CO-dabcM

Featuring ex-Hacktivist producer/guitarist, Timfy James, and frontman Ben Marvin, as well as current Heart Of A Coward bassist, Vishal “V” Khetia, these three aren’t strangers to the UK music scene. Good friends outside of music, the trio decided to team up and try something fresh, adding local drummer Perry Smith to the mix.

When asking about the music, Timfy mentions how he likes to push boundaries, “putting ingredients together using scraps of different genres to create something you didn’t know you wanted to hear”.

Produced at Old School Studios, their new single ‘Ascend’ is a hard-hitting track with technical riffs and rhythms to get lost in. V says “I don’t think you could put a genre to it, but I’d say it’s definitely heavy and very addictive”

Returning to the music scene from a break, Ben says, “It’s good to be back on the mic, tearing it up. Looking forward to showing the world what we’ve been creating.” He also adds “With OPIA, the music is everything I want it to be”.

With years of experience behind them, the new single ‘Ascend’ shows the world that they are a force to be reckoned with. More news coming soon.

OPIA - n. the ambiguous intensity of looking someone in the eye, which can feel simultaneously invasive and vulnerable

THE AGONY SCENE release new video 'The Ascent and Decline'

New album Tormentor out now via Outerloop Records/Cooking Vinyl

The Agony Scene Main Image.png

THE AGONY SCENE have released new video 'The Ascent and Decline', taken from their new album Tormentor, out now via Outerloop Records/Cooking Vinyl. The album is available for purchase here

Watch 'The Ascent and Decline' here: https://youtu.be/Q456q7XYyrA

"'Tormentor is a pissed off and unrelenting record that is a product of the world we live in. The lyrics address all of the subjects one should avoid at a party [like] religion, politics, and various personal demons," the band said. "'The Ascent and Decline,' lyrically, is about watching as people abandon a belief system that they built their lives and careers upon in order to catch a ride on the next train, diving headfirst into a cult of personality. [It's] effectively selling one's voice to be on the winning team."

Tormentor is the band's first album since 2007's Get Damned (Century Media), which was preceded by 2005's The Darkest Red (Roadrunner) and 2003's self-titled release (Solid State).

Press praise for Tormentor has been far and wide, with Kerrang describing it as "heavy, pummelling, and the sort of unrelenting slab of anti'social aggression that's simply designed for beasting it up in the pit. Welcome back". Metal Hammer described the new songs has having evolved into "fully formed beasts" and Rock Sound described 'Serpent's Tongue' as "simply awe inspiring” .

THE AGONY SCENE recently shared 'The Submissive' via New Noise, check it out here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sFGnZmuncQ

The band partnered with Revolver to premiere 'Hand of the Divine'. Check out the song here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ7Ao2ZZVNc.

THE AGONY SCENE are currently on the annual Summer Slaughter Tour across the USA with Between the Buried and Me, Born of OsirisVeil of Maya, and more. UK/European tour dates to be announced soon.

SKYHARBOR release track 'Dissent'

New album Sunshine Dust out 7 September via eOne/Good Fight

Skyharbor.jpg

Indian/American progressive metal band SKYHARBOR have released a stunning new lyric video for the song 'Dissent', taken from their upcoming LP Sunshine Dust, out September 7 via Entertainment One / Good Fight Music.

Premiered via Revolver, check out 'Dissent' here: https://youtu.be/BDaM3x4IlDA

The band had previously released a music video for 'Dim' last month, and both songs are available on all streaming services and as iTunes instant grat tracks.

"Dissent is a really interesting track for us," says vocalist Eric Emery"It’s sort of a throwback to all of our metal influences from our youth blended with the Skyharbor sound. It’s a bit of an outlier on the record stylistically, but it has definitely turned into one of our favourite songs."

SKYHARBOR will release Sunshine Dust on 7 September, 2018, via Entertainment One (eOne) / Good Fight Music.

About Sunshine DustSKYHARBOR guitarist Keshav Dhar commented, "It’s taken almost four years and it’s been a real labour of love, but we’re thrilled to finally get this record out there to our fans. We’re incredibly stoked on these songs and have really dug in deep to explore and represent what we truly feel is the Skyharbor sound."

Sunshine Dust was recorded in Australia with renown producer Forrester Savell. Sunshine Dust, the band’s nearly four years in the making third full-length album, delivers on the atmospheric and emotional promise of their earlier material, with breathtaking tectonic shifts between a wall of sound ambience and groove.

This is music filled with empowering inspiration and sweeping passion, a supernatural slice of transcendent sonic indulgence.

SKYHARBOR erode the boundaries between traditional hit making structures and technicality dexterity with grace and poise, employing the gentle force of the changing of the tides, in all of its stealthily bombastic earth shaping might.

New prog/groove metallers PROGNOSIS announce debut LP release

Definition released September 21 2018

Prognosis.jpg

New UK prog/groove metal band PROGNOSIS are proud to announce the release of their debut LP Definition (September 21). Bearing comparisons to Mastodon, early TriviumGojira and even a touch of CarcassDefinition is an album which belies the quartet’s youth.

Musically Prognosis have cultivated their own sound on this record, developing their Ghost EP and 'Drones' single. Labelled once as “Mastodon playing Carcass”, the band include a host of subtle influences which makes Definition a highly rewarding listen. Beyond groove metal, the band also emulate Dream Theater and Muse, the technicality of Jeff Loomis, and the abrasive elements of Death and beyond. Lyrically, the songs are bound together by a concept which looks at the flawed characteristics that define us as humans, such as selfishness, greed and imperiousness. All combined, the band create music that is at once progressive, grounded, over-the-top and ferocious, and well deserving a listen.

To add to the album, co-guitarist/vocalist Phil Weller has penned a book of short stories expanding on the stories. From a dystopian sci-fi tale of survival and a tragic love story (think Steven Wilson meets Romeo and Juliet) to a King who cons his way into heaven, the multi-genre collection reveals the songs in deeper and different lights. Available soon.

In their short history Prognosis have played at Bloodstock (2017), and supported Phil Campbell and the Bastard SonsThresholdLawnmower DethConjurerBoss Keloid; and are due to play Mammoth Fest 2018.

EMP!RE release video for 'Sour Tastes' & announce London headline show
IMG_0918a.jpg

UK rockers EMP!RE have revealed the video for their latest single 'Sour Tastes', taken from their debut album Glue - due for release on 7th September 2018 via Silent Cult.

Watch the video for 'Sour Tastes' here: https://youtu.be/f2eVJlByBy8

Guitarist James L'Esteve comments on the video:

"We wanted to do something really different for this video. We sat with our director Carl Shanahan and put this together. It is completely shot in one take, there was lots of running and choreography going on. There are no edit points whatsoever so it was fun to shoot, but it had to be right from start to finish! What you don't see is what happens when the camera pans is that the people in masks need to get from one end to the other in Usain Bolt levels of speed!

We felt the video represented a personal struggle. It's about fighting through your problems (metaphorically of course!) and making it out through the other side in better shape and more cleansed! Just the idea of facing things head on and not running around the problem.

It takes inspiration from a well known TV show - I will let you work out the reference!"

EMP!RE have also announced a London headline show to celebrate the release of Glue, due to take place on Wednesday 19th September at Thousand Island.

Ticket bundles and pre-orders of Glue are available here: http://radi.al/EmpireGlue

All pre-orders of Glue will receive an instant download of 'Sour Tastes' and previous single 'My Party, My Rules'.

With hints of Biffy Clyro and Coheed & CambriaEMP!RE's debut album is full of huge hooks and soaring moments - from thumping opener 'Colour Of Shame' through to the mesmerising and powerful 'Teeth/Tether', Glue is a testament to the band's impressive craftmanship, showcasing their natural ability to write energy-fuelled and exhilarating rock music.

Of the album, L'Esteve adds:

"We are so happy to finally release our debut album to the world. It's been a long time in the making and full of blood, sweat, tears and everything in-between. We almost didn't make the record and that is what led to the title, Glue. This album for us is about sticking together, being in this together, despite all the challenges. We have created music that we wanted to hear, carved the songs out of things and influences that we are excited by. We can't wait for you all to hear it!"
