PHOXJAW have released their brand new single 'Monday Man'. The track is taken from sophomore EP A Playground For Sad Adults, due for release on 5th July 2019 via Hassle Records.

Check out the 'Monday Man' video here: https://youtu.be/kVnFoO__4zU

The band comment on the track and video:

"'Monday Man' is a comment on the routines we all fall into, and how they can come to dominate and dictate our lives. The music presenting a fast, frantic bed for the lyrics to dance on.

"The video for 'Monday Man' is about a tiger that rides an 80s chopper bike, takes a penalty in the football match, then rides into the distance. Make of that what you will, could be poetic, could not."

PHOXJAW have also been announced as main support to Black Peaks on their upcoming European tour. See below for full dates.

Signing to Hassle Records (Brutus, Pagan, Press Club) continues the alternative quartet's rise, following the acclaim of their debut EP Goodbye Dinosaur..., tours with Black Peaks and Pagan, and appearances at 2000trees and Camden Rocks festivals.

The Bristol-based rock outfit made waves in 2018, garnering support from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer and the Radio 1 Rock Show surrounding the release of Goodbye Dinosaur... The success of the debut EP was unsurprising given the reaction to PHOXJAW's first ever release, their double A-side single Spin Club/Victorian Dolls (Pale Wizard Recordings) which sold out quickly. With their follow-up single 'Triceratops' and subsequent EP the band has received praise from a wide range of UK press: Kerrang! ("unhinged and mesmerising"), Metal Hammer ("inhabiting their own, unique musical world"), Rhythm Magazine ("already causing waves") and more.

There are few bands that sound as unique, infectious, or as powerful as PHOXJAW. Although hard to pigeonhole, the band are at times reminiscent of early Biffy Clyro, At The Drive-In and Cave In. The four-piece owe much to their melodic tenacity and driving, off-kilter riffs and mixed with their ferocious energy onstage and compelling personalities, PHOXJAW are firmly establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with.

Cosmic Thrill Seekers, the new record from Albany punk rock band PRINCE DADDY & THE HYENA, is many things. It is an odyssey of epic, The Monitor-esque proportions, a great, galloping sonic roadtrip across space and time and Albany, boomeranging around a horn of punk, pop, indie, garage rock, and orchestral, Queen-style arrangements and theatrics; it is an exploration of the fall-out after an acid trip, manic self-destruction, bottoming-out and recovering, and then slipping again; it is a candid, acute documentation of front person Kory Gregory’s cyclical mental health states as told through three acts and 14 songs/chapters; it is an existential presentation of eternal return theory, a victory via surrender to impermanence; and perhaps most of all, it is about Dorothy Gale and The Wizard Of Oz.

There are three acts in Cosmic Thrill Seekers, each exploring a stage in Gregory’s mental health. “I remember watching the Wizard of Oz one time, and noticing some weird kind of parallels between the cyclical nature of my mental health and that movie,” he says. “My mental health rotates and jumps from one stage to the next, and then repeats itself.” The closing moments of Cosmic Thrill Seekers reflect this, as the outro to the last track, “The Wacky Misadventures of the Passenger,” morphs into the first muted notes of opener “I Lost My Life.”

Eradikator release new single and announce album details
750225.jpg

UK heavy metal quartet ERADIKATOR return with new single 'Poisoned To Sorrow' and announce the release of new album Obscura, set for 3rd August via Divebomb Records.

Check out 'Poisoned To Sorrow' here: https://youtu.be/GmM0Gk2rTRU

Hailing from the birthplace of heavy metal - Birmingham, England - ERADIKATOR are a four-piece heavy metal outfit that initially set out to create face-melting, ear-shredding metal that would make even the most hardened ears haemorrhage liquid steel. Back with Divebomb Records for their third consecutive release - following Dystopia (2013) and Edge of Humanity (2015) - the U.K. quartet has, however, broadened its palette and focused on masterfully crafted song writing with forthcoming nine-song full-length, Obscura.

Speaking of the new album, guitarist Andy MacNevin comments, "Obscura is about addressing the darker side of the human psyche. It's a concept album that deals with the different stages of grief and how they impact the mind, looking at how we manage those feelings and ultimately try to move forward whilst not forgetting that which we have lost."

Recorded once more with renowned producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, At the Gates, Evile) at The Parlour Recording Studio, Obscura's 47-minute journey demonstrates a compositional raising-of-the-bar and a move away from their traditional thrash roots. From the undeniable hooks of opener 'Nightmare Dawning,' ERADIKATOR's first-rate brand of meaty-yet-melodic metal grows increasingly diverse - take, for example, the echoes of acts such as Mastodon or Gojira in 'Hourglass,' or the unanticipatedly bluesy intro to the epic 'I Want to Believe.'

Further elaborating on Obscura's lyrical direction, bassist/vocalist Pat Cox adds, "It's about the sense of loss we find within ourselves and the propensity to dwell on and be blinded by grief - following the journey through the sorrow and darkness, reaching the end, and coming out the other side scarred but wiser."

"Growth" and "maturity" are all too often subtle signs of decline with regard to the heavy metal landscape, but ERADIKATOR have executed this impressively ambitious evolution to utter perfection, and Obscura is sure to remain a benchmark album amidst the group's growing discography.

Check the band out on one of the following dates:

20.07 - The Asylum, Birmingham
03.08 - O2 Institute, Birmingham
30.08 - Venue tbc, Bristol
07.09 - The Queen's Head, Nuneaton

Pre-order the album: www.musicofjunior.com

In the words of guitarist Matt Attard: "This song is about finding someone who pulls you out of a dark place, when you feel like you’re at your lowest. It could be a partner, a friend, or just anyone who has a positive impact on your life. It’s about being thankful for that interaction, even if you can’t verbalise how grateful you are."

"I feel like the imagery of the track is quite abstract, because sometimes it’s hard to articulate how you feel about the people you love, especially with the toxic expectation put on men to suppress their feelings, so you do what you can to describe it. Space plays an important part in this record thematically, as it can be seen as so aspirational and full of wonder, but at the same time, the idea of being lost in space seem so isolating and scary. I think ‘I Don’t Know What I’d Do’ leans heavily on those themes because we’ve all felt scared and alone, but opening up and letting someone in can help you gain a whole new perspective. This was a great one to put together in the studio, as we got to use 7-string guitars to make really interesting textures. It’s the kind of instrument that’s mainly reserved for heavy metal, but we wanted to get out of our comfort zone and experiment - with the added bonus of getting to pretend to be Slipknot for a day!"

These themes underpin JUNIOR's first album and are key to the band's own identity. Beyond this, the band's drummer Si Martin is known for running mental health non-profit Heads Above The Waves, which raises awareness of depression and self-harm in young people.

In addition to Si, JUNIOR's vocalist/bassist is well-known WWE wrestler Mark Andrews who performs weekly on NXT, 205 Live and NXT UK to an audience of millions. Guitarist and co-vocalist Matt Attard writes theme tunes for wrestlers, balancing his time against JUNIOR's increasingly busy schedule.

The band's vital message does not detract from the fact that JUNIOR are, above all else, a fun band. The highly versatile and impressively mature debut brings to mind elements of Blink-182, Biffy Clyro, and Jimmy Eat World, breaking beyond anthemic pop-punk tropes to create a highly irresistible first offering to all fans of modern rock.

In their short history, JUNIOR have already played Download Festival, toured Canada, headlined London's The Dome and received significant support from Rock Sound, Kerrang!, Alt Press and many more.

Norwegian hardcore troupe OBERST stream new single and sign to Indie Recordings
Oberst 2 Photo by Johannes Amble.jpg

Norwegian hardcore punk quartet OBERST have released their new single 'A Stranger Place Pt. 2' having signed with Indie Recordings.

Premiered via Everything Is Noise, you can now watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJGtwLa5VfQ

Stream and purchase: https://believemusic.lnk.to/AStrangerPlacePtII

The band comment on the single: “The song is about driving head on in to dangerous and uncharted territory, knowing, and almost rejoicing in the fact that it ultimately will take a toll on you. The title refers to the song 'A Stranger Place', from our first EP, which is basically about the exact same thing. The title also flirts a little with the very elaborate song titles of older progressive rock songs

"The music video for 'A Stranger Place Pt. 2' is just a crazy, weird, fast paced and a little humorous assault on the senses. The visual expression matches the lyrical theme of the song, which is about uncharted, weird and dangerous places to explore. The music video definitely takes place in a weird space."

The Oslo-based group blend their many influences seamlessly into a unique sound, a heady mixture of hardcore, post-metal, punk, and progressive metal.

Originally formed around the mutual interest in music rather than any particular genre, OBERSTlater found common ground in bands like Mastodon, Baroness, Converge and Cult of Luna.

The release of their self-titled debut EP was met with critical acclaim and praised locally as "some of the best metal produced in Norway for a long time".

Following the success of their EP the band have signed with Indie Recordings for their anticipated debut full-length.

Guitarist Dennis Estensen comments: "The process of making this album took a lot of effort and a long time for us. I feel we really took a giant leap from our debut EP in terms of songwriting and production. We’re really proud to finally release it to the world, and even more proud to get this out with Indie Recordings behind the release. I feel this record is going to sound fresh and exciting for a lot of people, not just for the typical rock & metal-fan."

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH share music video for 'Fell In My Hole'
APHND press shot.jpg

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH share their official music video for the song 'Fell In My Hole'. The track is taken from their new album When The World becomes Undone which was released earlier this year via Long Branch Records / SPV. The video was shot by Joel Nilsson (Maluha Media) and Tony Jelencovich in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Singer and guitarist Sal Abruscato about the video: "We did not want to do the typical performance video of a band onstage. We wanted to give more to the story of manic depression. When we had the opportunity to work with Joel and Tony and film in Gothenburg, Sweden, we felt that is was gonna be special, something that will draw the viewer into that world."

A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH will return to Europe in the autumn for their Season Of The Dead Tour 2019. Tickets are already on sale, dates are below.

16.10.19 IT, Milan - Legend Club
18.10.19 RO, Timisoara - Capcana

04.11.19 UK, TBA
05.11.19 UK, London - Underworld

Beauty often blossoms at the root of darkness. A PALE HORSE NAMED DEATH siphon strangely blissful melodies from apocalyptic heavy metal awash in swells of cavernous gothic keys and grunge song-craft. The band continue to excavate vulnerability from venom on their anxiously awaited third full-length album, When The World Becomes Undone. A delicate dichotomy drives the avowed and acclaimed “Brooklyn Lords of Doom.”

“It’s our signature combination of seemingly depressing and dark musical tones with unexpectedly pretty melodies,” affirms Sal Abruscato. “There’s a hypnotic phenomenon that happens when you take super heavy riffs and add a harmonic sensibility. It allows you to drift off and zone out.”

The new album was mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, Meat Loaf, Yes, Sepultura, Halford) at Maor Appelbaum Mastering while the artwork was once again created by Sam Shearon (Rob Zombie, Fear Factory, Cradle of Filth).

TIDES FROM NEBULA announce new album via Long Branch Records
shot.jpg

After a three year break, TIDES FROM NEBULA, one of the most respected European instrumental bands, will return with their much anticipated fifth studio album From Voodoo to Zen. It will be their first album as a trio and is scheduled to be released on 20th September 2019 via Long Branch Records (SPV) and Mystic Production.

"It seems that being a three piece made us work harder and challenged us to write better music. I’m pretty sure this is one of the reasons the album ended up sounding so rich and epic," states guitarist Maciej Karbowski. "Musically and visually this new record is a sidestep for us, which came subconsciously. We just followed our gut feeling and as we were recording in our own recording studio, we could work on every small detail and I am sure that this album will develop with every listen. We are super curious about the listener's reaction."
