New Levels New Devils reached #27 in the UK Progressive Music Chart and landed hard on the US Billboard charts, hitting #1 on Independent Albums, #2 on Current Alternative, #3 on Vinyl, #4 on Current Rock, #6 on Digital and #61 on the Top 200. The band also achieved 27 million streams on Spotify in 2018.
The record features guests from all over the map including singer-songwriter Cuco, guitarists Ichika, Mateus Asato, Jason Richardson, Erick Hansel and Mario Camarena from Chon, and Yvette Young from Covet. New Levels New Devils also marked a shift into uncharted territory where the band further blurred the lines of genre by partnering with Y2K (Killy, Yung Bans) and Judge (Migos & Marshmello, Young Thug) to help produce the majority of the tracks. Since the album release, POLYPHIA have been playing sold out shows across the US, Asia, and the UK as well as their first shows in India. The start of the new year also brought the announcement of signature Ibanez guitars for both Tim Henson and Scott LePage, solidifying their places as modern guitar gods.

Öxxö Xööx, the unique French avant-garde/ experimental doom metal unit, return with another dizzying masterwork in the labyrinthine, Ÿ, which will be released on 29th November via Blood Music.
Pre-order the record here: https://www.blood-music.com/store
Öxxö Xööx have also shared the first new track and video from the record. First premiered via Metal Sucks, listen and watch 'Lëïth Säë' here: https://youtu.be/ENbwZgycPo4
Featuring the songwriting, instrumentation and vocals of the titular Öxxö Xööx (Laurent Lunoir, ex-Whourkr), the operatic treasure Rïcïnn [Laure Le Prunenec of Corpo-Mente and Igorrr], and live drummer Isarnos (Thomas Jacquelin), Ÿ also sees guest synth guitar processing by cyber metal star Master Boot Record.
Ÿ opens with the solemn dirge of what sounds like a funeral. Dripping with beauty and melancholic doom, it gives way to bell-like organs before plodding drums build to a gothic assault. The album continues to shift rapidly from gorgeous, haunting laments to utter desperation and unhinged mania as the 78 minute journey spirals deeper and deeper into the maze of its own machinations and enigmas.
Laurent comments, "Ÿ is a very symbolic album. There are several meanings regarding its name: First of all, the umlauts symbolise the duality of our material universe. Ÿ is a two-headed "I", having two directions. It's the symbol of the choice between the path of light and the path of darkness, between vice and virtue. By its tree-like shape, it reflects human growth, whose branches rise to heavens. Ÿ symbolises the three-dimensional space (the orthonormal coordinate system x, y, z). It also depicts the corner of a cube (symbol of the earth, the stability, the hardness of the material world). "Y" can also depict the bifid tongue of the snake; the crossroad; the "Y" generation; the simplified shape of the female internal genital tract, as well as the Y chromosome in the male; the Christ (Y) on the cross (T).”
The brainchild of Laurent Lunoir, Öxxö Xööx acts as a personal artistic project outside of Igorrr where he can realise his dreams entirely unrestricted. In doing so, he attempts to raise his “being”; a kind of inner "holy war" to find what religions call "God" (and which he refers to as “Light”) in a personal way, without adhering to any religious practice. This expresses what he feels toward the material reality in which we must live. To achieve this he enlisted the help of artists who share a similar creative outlook, those whom Laurent feels a “connection” to the Light, such as Rïcïnn (Laure Le Prunenec) and Isarnos (Thomas Jacquelin). The possibility remains open for other collaborations in the future which will allow the Öxxö Xööx universe to grow even further.
Ÿ comes out on 29th November via Blood Music and can be pre-ordered here.

The UK's most ferocious metallic hardcore newcomers, ITHACA, have announced their support tour with UK rock icon Jamie Lenman.
The tour supports ITHACA's lauded debut LP The Language of Injury (1st February, Holy Roar Records) and follows shows with Anaal Nathrakh, Bleeding Through, and at Boomtown Fair and ArcTanGent festival.
ITHACA will support on the following dates:
18/11 Brighton Patterns
19/11 Norwich Waterfront
20/11 Gloucester Guildhall
24/11 Edinburgh Caves
25/11 Newcastle Cluny
26/11 Manchester Deaf Institute
ITHACA's acclaimed debut full-length The Language of Injury received support from Pitchfork, BBC R1, Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Revolver, Decibel magazines and more, fast becoming the most exciting new band in UK heavy music in 2019.
Champions of diversity, equal representation, anti-fascism and anti-sexism, ITHACA are providing a vital new voice in hardcore, a voice heard at Boomtown Fair and ArcTanGent festivals this summer, and which decimated their sold-out album release show at London's The Old Blue Last.
Order The Language of Injury: smarturl.it/ITHACA
Formed out of a mutual love of metallic hardcore but despair at its lack of ambition, ITHACA draw influence from everything from Southern doom to 90's math rock, as well as the untethered savagery of early Poison The Well and melodious battery of Oathbreaker.
The result is crushing grooves and shrieking guitar squalls that give way to haunting melodic passages and desolate reprieves. The debut album will be the band's most ambitious and emotionally raw material to date, following from their 2015 Trespassers EP (COF Records/Soaked in Torment).
ITHACA have previously toured with Employed to Serve, Venom Prison, and Renounced.

PRINCE DADDY & THE HYENA have released new single / video 'Fuckin' A' ahead of their upcoming tour with Oso Oso. The track is taken from their new album Cosmic Thrill Seekers, out now via Big Scary Monsters.
Premiered via Kerrang!, check it out here: https://youtu.be/HpDq5ya_Q8A
Vocalist Kory Gregory told Kerrang! “Our good friend Joey Tobin compiled a bunch of footage for us during our time in their neck of the woods in this past lil’ tour we did. A lot of it is either us having fun at Disney, riding coasters, eating turkey legs and shit, or it’s us playing at a skate shop we love called Programme with a bunch of close friends and confetti everywhere. The song is kind of about like ‘seeing in color’ again after a dark period of your life. So it sort of just made sense to put Joey’s colorful and somewhat optimistic footage alongside the song."
The band soon his our shores with US punk rockers Oso Oso, check them out on the following dates:
Oct 16 – Elsewhere, Margate, UK
Oct 17 – Green Door Store, Brighton, UK
Oct 18 – Deaf Institute, Manchester, UK

Cosmic Thrill Seekers, the new record from Albany punk rock band PRINCE DADDY & THE HYENA, is many things. It is an odyssey of epic, The Monitor-esque proportions, a great, galloping sonic roadtrip across space and time and Albany, boomeranging around a horn of punk, pop, indie, garage rock, and orchestral, Queen-style arrangements and theatrics; it is an exploration of the fall-out after an acid trip, manic self-destruction, bottoming-out and recovering, and then slipping again; it is a candid, acute documentation of front person Kory Gregory’s cyclical mental health states as told through three acts and 14 songs/chapters; it is an existential presentation of eternal return theory, a victory via surrender to impermanence; and perhaps most of all, it is about Dorothy Gale and The Wizard Of Oz.
There are three acts in Cosmic Thrill Seekers, each exploring a stage in Gregory’s mental health. “I remember watching the Wizard of Oz one time, and noticing some weird kind of parallels between the cyclical nature of my mental health and that movie,” he says. “My mental health rotates and jumps from one stage to the next, and then repeats itself.” The closing moments of Cosmic Thrill Seekers reflect this, as the outro to the last track, “The Wacky Misadventures of the Passenger,” morphs into the first muted notes of opener “I Lost My Life.”

From a very early age, most of us are moulded by the traditions of our upbringing. While there are undeniable benefits to tradition, often the fear of bucking against the expectations they create prevent us from pursuing our personal truth. Growing up in the deep south, the members of GIDEON spent years letting these mental fences dictate their creative direction. On their aptly titled fifth full-length album, Out of Control, the band is no longer allowing themselves to be put in a box, sonically or topically, to fit what is expected of them. Enhanced by its eclectic array of musical influences, including a heavy dose of 90s and 00s nu metal, clear inflections of outlaw country, and hip hop, Out of Control is a powerful statement of who the members of GIDEON really are and where they come from.
The members of GIDEON - Daniel McWhorter (Vocals), Tyler Riley (Guitar), Jake Smelley (Drums) and Caleb DeRusha (Bass) - have encountered a myriad of cultures while touring the world in support of their music. These opportunities led to the realisation that open-mindedness and acceptance are important aspects of developing your own perspective. As a result, they’ve grown away from their roots as a 'Christian Metalcore' band and through their last three records this transition becomes apparent. On 2014’s Calloused the band offered glimpses into their internal struggle with being a 'Christian' band. By the release of Cold in 2017, they emerged more bitter and aggressive; defiant in the face of expectations. Finally, Out of Control finds the band breaking free of all previous restraints as they craft a diverse record unlike anything they’ve ever released.

Hungarian apocalyptic prog rock/metal act PERIHELION have unveiled new single 'Erdő' and announced the release of new album Agg set for 6th December.
Premiered via Prog magazine, watch 'Erdő' here: https://youtu.be/cW2ohlp7YNg
Guitarist/vocalist Gyula Vasvári told Prog magazine: "Erdő (Hungarian for "forest") is a song about the process of dying, it is the third piece on the new album Agg, a seven-track release revolving around the disappointment in this world and the redeeming death of the physical body."
'Erdő' is the first single taken from new album Agg, seven tracks inspired by the world's ever-increasing moral decline and turmoil, that is both abrasive and yet strangely comforting; a smorgasbord of dark sounds, emotions and feelings.
PERIHELION fuse psychedelic rock, avant-garde metal and post-black metal, to create a sound that is atmospheric, ethereal, beautiful and haunting in equal measure. A band who use dynamics as much as melody, the quartet create captivating soundscapes with many twists and turns; each track is a journey in its own right.
Translating as "very very old" in archaic Hungarian, Agg is a concept album about escapism. Each track has a different take on the process of heading towards death, the ultimate escape, which serves as a sour metaphor for the decline of humanity. Agg was recorded live in a rehearsal space with the view to creating something truly natural and atmospheric, and the result is a chilling and distinctly organic sound.
Having played together since 2001, PERIHELION officially formed in 2012 and released their self-titled debut that year. In 2014 they followed up with an EP entitled Nap fele néz which caught the attention of respected French label Apathia records, who released their sophomore album Zeng in 2015. Subsequent releases Hold (EP 2016) and Örvény (album 2017) gained the band huge international attention, which saw them tour Europe, play festivals in France and Switzerland, and open for Zeal & Ardor and Tormentor.
Autumn 2019 will see PERIHELION tour Europe in November in support of first single ‘Erdő’ in the lead up to the release of Agg, and also prepare for their ongoing campaign of misery and acceptance in 2020. More live dates to be announced soon.

Already known as one of the finest young guitar players today, Jakub Zytecki promises to establish himself as one of the most inventive composers of his generation, with new album Nothing Lasts, Nothing’s Lost. Streaming from today and physically released on 6th December, Nothing Lasts, Nothing’s Lost's is 11 wonderfully diverse tracks, including the beautiful new single 'Bonsai'.
Featuring the soulful voice of renowned Polish singer Paulina Przybysz, listen to 'Bonsai' here: https://youtu.be/6PMZ049CskA
An expansive collection of songs that explore everything from prog, rock, electronica, funk, jazz, R&B and more, Jakub’s boundaryless creation of sound is impressive on its own. However, what makes Nothing Lasts, Nothing’s Lost truly special is how this eclecticism is entwined with huge hooks and engrossing melodies, and the level of detail that could only be created by someone with the level of talent he possesses.
The centre piece of Nothing Lasts, Nothing’s Lost features two very special guest performances. Meshuggah guitar legend Frederik Thordendal contributes to the electronica driven track 'Creature Comfort', in which he performs a signature chromatically atonal tapping solo, which superbly juxtaposes with the clean sheen of the track’s soundscape. Then follows the beautiful ‘Bonsai’, which elevates a stunning high with the soulful voice of renown Polish singer Paulina Przybysz.
Nothing Lasts, Nothing’s Lost is a journey of euphoria, intensity, relaxation, beauty and euryopia, largely inspired by Jakub’s self-reflection, and psychedelic experiences.
Jakub explains: "Nothing Lasts, Nothing’s Lost doesn’t have one narrative going through all the songs, but I think all the themes come from the same place. On one hand it’s a love letter to solitude and finding oneself through the creative process, but on the other hand it’s about these long nights spent high with friends having great conversations, questioning the current cultural values, and realisations about temporariness of everything."
In terms of guitar excellence Jakub can be compared to his peers Plini, Aaron Marshall (Intervals), Chon and Polyphia, but his sound is more aligned with his wide range of influences, including The 1975, Bon Iver and John Hopkins. The latter is very prevalent throughout in terms of his experimental production. His soft vocals, clever samples (including some classic Motown sound bites) and choral moments add even more exciting curveballs.
Jakub has toured the world far and wide as the guitarist in prog-metal band DispersE, but earlier this year he took his solo project live, touring as support to Plini throughout Europe. This autumn Jakub will hit the road again supporting Plini in Australia, perform his debut headline show in Tokyo Japan, and there are UK / Euro dates being planned for 2020.
