AZUSA (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Extol, Sea + Air members and more) stream new single ft Alex Skolnick (Testament)
unnamed - 2020-03-02T112845.972.jpg

AZUSA, the avant-metal group formed of members of The Dillinger Escape PlanExtolSea + Air and more, have released their new single 'Detach', featuring Alex Skolnick of famed thrash band Testament. 'Detach' is AZUSA's third single from forthcoming LP, Loop Of Yesterdays, released 10th April via Indie Recordings / Solid State Records

Premiered via Metal Injection, the single can be streamed here: https://azusa.ffm.to/detach

Pre-order the record: http://bit.ly/2u2ZYju
Pre-save: https://azusa.ffm.to/album

In the words of the band, "Like a smokeless fire ripping through dry grass, 'Detach' moves in and out of the heaviest groove AZUSA has concocted thus far. The lyrics are a deep dive into how we accept and respond to the downward spirals life inevitably throws us all into. The track builds like a runway cleared for Alex Skolnick's (Testament) maniacal solo to launch the listener into the stratosphere."

Loop Of Yesterdays is the follow-up to 2018's critically acclaimed Heavy Yoke. Although equally broad in scope, Loop Of Yesterdays finds the band with more to say but less to prove, achieving a more aerodynamic and accessible approach to their intricate sense of song-writing and inherently technical style. Expanding on ideas first presented on 2018’s album Heavy YokeAZUSA seek to captivate audiences with their unique blend of melodic-thrash, jazz-fusion, hardcore and early 90’s riff pop sensibilities. This is accompanied by lyrics which assertively confront coming of age struggles, like loss, grief, memories and estrangement. Bassist Liam Wilson says, “Heavy Yoke was the initial impact, Loop Of Yesterdays is the aftermath.”

“The line “cannot lose myself in a loop of yesterdays” was inspired by an eerie dream I had and became a recurring reminder for me. I had been out of focus for a long time that I wanted to get back to reality, to the present.” says vocalist Eleni Zafiriadou

Anxious to continue where they left off, the band found themselves returning to drummer and producer-engineer David Husvik’s Hawk Studios in Oslo, Norway to record Loop Of Yesterdays, which was masterminded by long-time collaborators David Husvik and guitarist Christer Espevoll, and recorded in a series of marathon sessions that started before their previous album even left the pressing plant. The band once again called upon Nick Terry (Serena Maneesh, Kvelertak, Turbonegro) to achieve their ideal mix, a highly polished balance of punch and aggression, giving mastering engineer Jens Bogren (Opeth, At The Gates, Between The Buried And Me) a pitch he could knock out of the park. Intrigued by his ability to exist comfortably in both the jazz and metal world, the band reached out to world-class guitarist Alex Skolnick (Testament) to contribute a shredding guest solo on the track 'Detach'. The album artwork was provided by internationally acclaimed German artist Klaus Rinke from his work titled “Um mich herum - Wasser holen, Wasser bringen, Wasser schütten”.

Loop of Yesterdays will be released via Solid State Records in North America and Asia, and via Indie Recordings in the rest of the world on 10th April.

Calling to mind the slamming heaviness of Devourment as well as the pulverising onslaught of bands such as Hate Eternal and AbortedNascency is an unrelentingly crushing exercise in sonic violence. The massively destructive 10 track album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Russell Hollar Music with artwork coming from Par Olofsson (The Faceless, Aborted, Deeds of Flesh)I AM DESTRUCTION are set to establish themselves as one of the most extreme voices in death metal.

and here

Formed in 2013 as a one-man project by guitarist and vocalist Stephen Mashburn, Dallas based I AM DESTRUCTION exploded onto the Texas scene with their unrelentingly extreme take on technical death metal. The group immediately set to work pursuing their vision of limitless sonic violence and tirelessly pushed themselves further and further into the realm of punishing brutality.

Over the next several years I AM DESTRUCTION honed their skills and song craft with dozens of shows across the Southwest that saw them eviscerating crowds and opening for the likes of Archspire, Cattle Decapitation, and Arkaik. The end result of their continuous effort was their debut EP Violence Devours, which was released oN 19th March 2018.

The group quickly began upping the intensity of their performance schedule, which included a stint of dates opening for Ingested and a well-received performance at Bay Area Death Fest in 2018. It wasn’t long before I AM DESTRUCTION caught the attention of Unique Leader Records who will release their earth-shattering debut full length Nascency on 24th April.

Heavy progressive masters ELDER stream new single
Elder_2020_05resize.jpg

Heavy psych rock masters ELDER have released 'Embers', the first taste of their highly anticipated new LP Omens (released 24th April, Stickman Records), their first full-length since the globally-acclaimed Reflections of a Floating World.

Premiered by Stereogum, you can stream 'Embers' here: https://lnk.to/elder-embers

Pre-orders for Omens are now available here: http://stickman-records.com/shop/elder-omens

The band have also revealed the album artwork for Omens, created by longtime collaborator Adrian Dexter.

In their own words: "'Embers' is doubtless one of the most energetic and upbeat songs ELDER has ever made, and really became the favorite to play while rehearsing to record Omens. It’s maybe the least traditionally heavy track from the record, but it’s certainly dense. Lots of interlocking guitar and bass lines, keyboards, synthesizer solos (thanks to our friend Fabio Cuomo!) – you can hear that we had plenty of fun making this album. Like any ELDER song, it’s best heard in context, and we’re excited to release the full record soon!"

Omens is perhaps the band's most ambitious album yet - delving into deeper, more expansive, genre-pushing territories with five tracks of progressive, heavy, psychedelically evocative glory. Elements of OMPink Floyd, even Mastodon and Hawkwind combine to create a truly special record.

Formed in a small coastal town in Massachusetts in the mid noughties, ELDER have reinvented their sound over the course of five albums to grow from a stalwart of the stoner/doom scene into one of the most unique voices in the rock underground. Their long-scale compositions unfold as journeys, running the gamut of styles from the 70s to the present within a single song, with a penchant for “sheer gatefold-era grandeur” as described by Rolling Stone. After thirteen years, this is the first full-length recorded with a new lineup including guitarist Michael Risberg and new drummer Georg Edert, along with guest performances by Fabio Cuomo on Rhodes piano and synthesizers.

ELDER’s new album Omens answers any speculation about their new direction with an emphatic statement: evolution or extinction. Lush, intricately interwoven melodies grow and dissolve into spaced-out jams; massive riffs thunder down into a churning sea of psychedelic sounds and unpredictable grooves carry away the listener. ELDER paint pictures with their music, and Omens shows the band experimenting with an even more colourful palette – with good reason.

By continuing to incorporate new elements to their sound, ELDER’s output has repeatedly set benchmarks for their peers. Beginning with 2008’s Elder and 2010’s Dead Roots StirringELDER made ripples in the stoner rock scene with their uniquely melodic approach to the genre. In 2015 they surprised again with Lore, a watershed moment in the band’s career (recently crowned “Album of the Decade” by The Obelisk) which brought in elements of post-, prog- and space rock into the ELDER sound. Despite several years of heavy touring surrounding the album, Reflections of a Floating World was released just two years later, earning a spot at the top of many best-of lists including Rolling Stone (#5, 20 Best Metal Albums Of 2017), Stereogum, acclaim from Metal Hammer, and more.

ELDER will be touring USA in May and throughout Europe in June and July.

Shrapnel Announce New Album Palace For The Insane
unnamed - 2020-02-21T123159.444.jpg

UK thrashers SHRAPNEL will release their third full length album Palace For The Insane on 15th May via Candlelight Records

Preorders are now available: https://shrapnel.lnk.to/PalaceForTheInsane

Listen to new single 'Salt The Earth' here:  https://shrapnel.lnk.to/PalaceForTheInsane

Palace For The Insane lives up to its title with heroic ferocity, combining a relentless barrage of insane riffs, shredding leads, pounding rhythms, and savage vocals. SHRAPNEL's trademark extreme aggression remains a fundamental part of their sound, but this time around they exhibit vastly more dynamism, versatility and newly-refined songwriting skills.

“We wanted to step out of our comfort zone a little this time round”, says lead guitarist Nathan Sadd. “We knew we could pound out 10 relentless thrash songs fairly easily, but we wanted the challenge of writing a really memorable, diverse record. We wanted to write songs. I think we achieved that. The album definitely contains the most memorable and hooky stuff we’ve ever written, while still being thrashy and brutal.”

Palace For The Insane marks SHRAPNEL's first recorded venture as a four-piece. Their first album recorded in collaboration with Samuel Turbitt of Ritual Sound Studios, it feels like a wholesale creative rebirth, with the voracious energy of a debut.

While taking on complex subject matters, the album is not shy in paying homage to SHRAPNEL's old-school thrash roots. Those more partial to the faster side of this purest form of thrash will be floored by the sheer speed and technical wizardry of songs 'Bury Me Alive', 'The Mace', and 'Infernal Choir'This is definitely a new and improved SHRAPNEL, but necks are still going to get utterly wrecked.

“We might be experimenting a little more these days, but we never turn our back on our absolute love for thrash. This one shreds harder, its angrier, and at times, it's grittier. It was fueled by an enormous amount of frustration and anger, and a ton of fun too,” concludes Nathan. “Thrash is in our blood. And that side of us is going nowhere.”

Formed in 2009, SHRAPNEL have been on a campaign of destruction ever since. From the blistering underground EP No Saviours through to the 10th anniversary release in 2019, Decade of Decimation, the band has grown from strength to strength with no intention of slowing down.

Released on 15th May via Candlelight Records, preorders are now available here: https://shrapnel.lnk.to/PalaceForTheInsane

Hardcore newcomers TEETH release new single / video
TEETH - BlakeTeethRed.jpg

New band TEETH — vocalist Blake Prince (ex-Straight Reads the Line, Anniversary), guitarist Chris LeMasters (Hundred Suns, ex-Dead and Divine), and drummer Ryan "Legs" Leger (Hundred Suns, Norma Jean, ex-Every Time I Die) — have premiered the video for their new song 'Smother'.

Premiered via Revolver, watch 'Smother' here: https://youtu.be/G7dLCngPNMc

Chris LeMasters told Revolver: "This is the first song I wrote for what would eventually become TEETH and it really helped shape/define how we'd sound going forward. I knew I needed a creative outlet that'd let me do something heavier, more pissed off, and it just didn't quite fit with Hundred Suns or any of the other bands I'm in."

The Canadian-based band premiered the video for 'Filth' over at Alternative Press. Watch and listen here.

The band have also released the song 'Destroyer.' Listen here.
