The news follows POISONOUS BIRDS' collaborative EP with Sunflower, the solo project from Black FoxxesMark Holley. A stunning, yearning, emotive release, you can stream Low Tide and the Dying Sun here: http://links.poisonousbirds.com/lowtide.html

One of the more intriguing acts in the British rock scene currently, Bristol-based POISONOUS BIRDS are more than just a band.

The electronically-influenced group, in their own words, take more inspiration from the visual arts than music. Their live performances take the form of improvisational collages, more than scripted songs. Most songs contain well over 100 tracks, subtly sampling, re-sampling, modifying as they move forward.

The trio have already been championed by DIY Magazine, Kerrang! Radio, Bristol In Stereo, and more, and have supported The Physics House Band and Sleep Token, among others. Bearing comparison to a heavy RadioheadBattlesSCALPING65 Days of Static and HEALTHPOISONOUS BIRDS' guitarless approach is as much electronic as rock-centred.

Tom (vocals, songwriter, producer, electronics) has co-directed and scored a film for BBC Four, titled Elver; beyond this, he's designed sounds for Dyson and is co-writing, producing with ZAND.

POISONOUS BIRDS are:

Tom Ridley: vocals, electronics, producer
Finn Mclean: drums, synths
Jack Barrett: guitars (live)

PHOXJAW release video for new single 'Triple AAA'
PHOXJAW FINAL.jpg

Bristolian quartet PHOXJAW have released a video for their brand new single 'Triple AAA'. The track is the second taste of their forthcoming debut album Royal Swan, due for release on 3rd July 2020 via Hassle Records

"Triple AAA is a fast-paced, face punching, punk rock stonker all tied up in a Phoxjaw rope," explains vocalist/bassist Danny Garland."It's a song about breaking free from the shackles of insanity and thinking about the world around yourself. Reach for the sun…"

Check out the video here: https://youtu.be/01IZVQyN-o0

The original filming plans for 'Triple AAA' were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the band took it into their own hands to shoot the footage from their homes. In true PHOXJAW fashion, they came up with a series of weird and wonderful scenarios, as guitarist Josh Gallop explains:

“We were left in a sticky situation when lockdown was announced. It was time to shoot a music video for our next single, however, unable to meet up in the same place or leave our homes, we decided in true Phoxjaw fashion to create something obscure from our own homes, using self-shot footage and throwing around the weirdest scenarios we could muster we came up with the music video to 'Triple AAA'. Edited by Danny and finalised by Kieran, in our usual fashion we didn't let a setback prevent us from creating something uniquely strange.”

Pre-order Royal Swan here: https://smarturl.it/Royal_Swan

PHOXJAW have also announced their Royal Swan album release show, in partnership with Signature Brew. Due to the current lockdown the date for the event is to be confirmed, but tickets are on sale now and include a free beer. Those who purchase tickets and cannot make the date will be given a full refund.

Tickets are on sale here: http://signaturebrew.co.uk/phoxjaw

Born from a cabin-fevered recording experience at Devil’s Bridge in Wales, Royal Swan harks back to a fantastical medieval England. Without being overtly political, Royal Swan also details the tension inherent in modern day Great Britain – the sense of isolation and resentment the United Kingdom has fostered versus trying to retain a sense of pride in one’s own country. Listen out especially for the title-track and opening track for this.

To this end, and in classic PHOXJAW style, Royal Swan enlists a range of local musicians and sound-experiences, adding to the band’s core unique sound. Devil’s Bridge Cottage leaves its mark on the record, fostering PHOXJAW’s claustrophobic recording experience and physically shaping the sound, with each band member recording in separate rooms (and guitars in an airing cupboard).

Self-produced, with drums recorded by Lewis JohnsRoyal Swan marks PHOXJAW’s step into the limelight following two highly respected EPs (2018's Goodbye Dinosaur... and 2019's A Playground For Sad Adults). A rare group who combine humour, quirk, intrigue, a huge range of influences, and power, PHOXJAW are a band who’ll never stop having things to say.

Having toured with Black PeaksPaganZakk Sabbath’s cruise, Loathe and plenty more already, PHOXJAW have begun making waves in the UK underground rock scene. Solid support from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, Dan P Carter’s BBC R1 Rock Show, Total Guitar Magazine and more has earmarked this band as ones to watch, and rightly so.

PHOXJAW are:

Danny Garland - vocals/bass
Josh Gallop - guitar/keys
Kieran Gallop - drums
Alexander Share - guitar/vocals

WINTERFYLLETH Release 'Misdeeds Of Faith' Lyric Video
WF_2020_036 1 copy.jpg

British Black Metal pioneers WINTERFYLLETH have released a lyric video for their merciless track 'Misdeeds Of Faith', the second single taken from their forthcoming new album The Reckoning Dawn, set for release on 8th May 2020 via Candlelight Records/Spinefarm Records.

Premiered via Metal Sucks, watch the video to 'Misdeeds Of Faith' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UzcGemqvvU

Stream 'Misdeeds Of Faith' and pre-order the forthcoming album The Reckoning Dawn here: https://winterfylleth.lnk.to/TheReckoningDawn

"The new single, 'Misdeeds Of Faith', is a really immediate, aggressive and visceral song for Winterfylleth, and is probably the song least like the others on the album," comments guitarist/vocalist Chris Naughton.  "But for me that's no bad thing, as it's an interesting twist on the Winterfylleth sound in that it mixes a more 'up front' style of riffing with the chanted vocals and the elements of the band that might be more familiar to our fans. It's actually the first song on the new album and sets out the album as a triumphant return to Black Metal (after the acoustic album) and is hopefully a moment that makes people sit up and listen."

The first full length metal album since 2014’s The Divination of Antiquity, The Reckoning Dawn finds the band returning at the absolute top of their game, across an expansive journey of an album. Eight brand new songs of blistering, atmospheric and emotive black metal adorn the records near 60 minute running length and serves to highlight the strength and depth of material in the WINTERFYLLETH canon, resulting in one of the darkest and most powerful records of 2020.

Recorded and produced once again by the legendary Chris Fielding (Primordial, Napalm Death, Conan, Electric Wizard, Fen) at Foel Studios in Wales, The Reckoning Dawn shows the band at their strongest.

The band recently had to cancel their forthcoming headline tour, 'The Reckoning of Europe' with support from Mork, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic worldwide. Dates throughout April and May have been postponed with a view to rescheduling, however at the time of writing, further live dates to catch WINTERFYLLETH in July and August are still scheduled to go ahead (subject to change). More dates will be announced shortly.

The Reckoning Dawn will be released via Candlelight Records/Spinefarm Records on 8th May. Preorder now: https://winterfylleth.lnk.to/TheReckoningDawn

Catch the band live on their 'The Autumn Equinox' European tour in September and October with Panopticon and Alda: (all dates subject to change pending Covid-19 guidance)

30th September - The Rescue Rooms, Nottingham, UK
1st October - Metropole, Enschede, NL
2nd October - Beta, Copenhagen, DK

US chart-topping rockers POP EVIL release two new singles 'Let The Chaos Reign' and 'Work'
ASHLEY OSBORN - PRESS PHOTO 1 smalla.jpg

Michigan USA's POP EVIL have released two new singles 'Let The Chaos Reign' and 'Work', marking the first taste of new music from the band since their Pop Evil full-length in 2018.

Listen to 'Let The Chaos Reign' here: https://lnk.to/popevilletthechaosreign
Listen to 'Work' here: https://lnk.to/popevilwork

The new tracks arrive as a twin assault of invigorating, ready-made hits for 2020, from a forthcoming album filled to the brim with a dozen tracks each worthy of a dedicated spotlight. 'Let the Chaos Reign' is the heaviest single the band has ever dropped, a rousing fight song of self-determination about rising to meet any challenge with courage and strength. By contrast, 'Work' puts its heavy guitars atop a grooving rhythmic punch, as it champions the working-class heroes struggling to persevere across all industries today.

Speaking on the new singles and upcoming album, frontman and band founder Leigh Kakaty stated:

“We won’t bore people with the same song over and over. When you come to our live show, we feel like there should be an ebb and flow, peaks and valleys, that are similar to real life. Sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down. We like to take people on a journey when they listen to our music or come to see us live.”

POP EVIL have been a staple at major festivals and in theatres and clubs for over a decade, including opening the Download Festival main stage, despite the group’s relative youth. As they’ve ruled the roost with No. 1 US Billboard Rock singles like 'Trenches', 'Deal with the Devil', 'Torn to Pieces', “Footsteps”, and 'Waking Lions', they’ve taken their inspired message to the people, on tours with modern rock titans and veteran acts alike. The band bunkered down in Los Angeles in the winter of 2019 to put the finishing touches on the yet to be titled new album due out later this year via Entertainment One (eOne). The band also enlisted new creative teams of producers and collaborators to emphasise the uniquely varied aspects of the band’s sound. As 'Let The Chaos Reign' and 'Work' might suggest, the contrast and fearless genre-defying cross-cultural pollination have never been stronger than on album number six. The pre-production process yielded close to 30 songs, whittled down to the most potent 12 that represent everything POP EVIL is about. This new effort will be the highly anticipated follow up to their self-titled album that came out two years ago to high critical praise with outlets like Loudwire saying, "their self-titled effort continues that delivers a solid top-to-bottom listen."

Collectively, the band’s previous five albums account for over 600 million worldwide streams.

Earlier this month, POP EVIL also shared the news that their North American Versatile Tour is postponed with details to follow regarding new dates.

Norwegian metallers FIGHT THE FIGHT stream new single
Fiht The Fight 1 Photo by Therese V. Wangberg.jpg

Norwegian high-octane alt-metal quartet FIGHT THE FIGHT have streamed their thumping new single 'Pacemaker', taken from their second LP Deliverance, released 18th September via Indie Recordings and Metal Blade (USA).

Stream: https://orcd.co/ftfpacemaker

Watch their Coronavirus-effected video: filmed on near-deserted, quarantined streets of Oslo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eq9vCE3Nf2k

In the words of the band: "In Christianity, deliverance ministry refers to the activity of cleansing a person of demons and evil spirits in order to address problems manifesting in their life as a result of the presence of said entities and the root causes of their authority to oppress the person.

"You can say that in many ways writing this album has been a path to set free our individual alter egos. These are all coming out in the lyrics during the album. It is not about cleansing but realizing. Always be true to yourself and everyone around you. Sometimes you have to let that beast out and here it is, a beast of an album!"

FIGHT THE FIGHT are the perfect example of a band growing out of friendship. With their 2017 debut, the band already demonstrated their probing of musical boundaries, aiming for a diverse, experimental sound.

Led by frontman Lars Vegas, FIGHT THE FIGHT are a band with a huge amount of heart. With over three million streams, and previously supporting Avenged SevenfoldMinistryDevin Townsend ProjectAugust Burns Red and more, FIGHT THE FIGHT are on the cusp of something special with LP 2, Deliverance.

Deliverance will deliver FIGHT THE FIGHT into ever-more-advanced musical territories. Elements of groove, black metal, technical metalcore and new nu-metal combine to huge effect. Think of the power of Slipknot, the rhythms of Lamb of God, the approach of Devin Townsend, and the all-round bombast of Rammstein, and you have in FIGHT THE FIGHT one of the freshest and most innovative, accessible young metal bands around.

UK Deathcore quintet AZAZEL release harrowing new single & video 'Cocoon'
received_2709695602581944.jpeg

Nottingham deathcore newcomers AZAZEL have released new single 'Cocoon' along with a terrifying new video.

Directed by Loki Films and premiered via Slam Worldwide, watch 'Cocoon' here: https://youtu.be/Kj2wogAMbNM

AZAZEL are low-tuned, downtempo sonic violence. 'Cocoon' combines their signature crushing riffs with haunting atmosphere, and showcases the extreme vocal diversity delivered by frontman Tristan Hill.

The band commented: "‘Cocoon’ is a transitional period, a time of waiting, growing, becoming something bigger. In the case of this song, it is a fictional story of a being which resides within the centre of the earth, waiting to rise up and just live, but for that to happen, life on earth as we know it would end. The song is a soundtrack of the creature’s slow movement towards the surface."

The quintet from Nottingham, UK formed in 2018 and released debut EP Bedlam that year, which included the single 'Voices’ (ft Alex Taylor of Malevolence). Wasting no time, the band hit the road for two tours with Diabolus and Starved

Then followed a standalone single 'Apostle' with help from Brad Harkness of Revelations on vocals, which set the band on a much more aggressive path, and earned them a tour with Gassed Up.

In April 2020 AZAZEL announced new vocalist Tristan Hill and unleashed the single ‘Atrophy’, a one-minute barrage of ferocity and a powerful statement of intent. With new single ‘Cocoon, AZAZEL further demonstrate their capability to sonically crush with visuals to match.

AZAZEL are:

Tristan Hill - Vocals
Jack Donachie - Guitar
Jimmy Hikin - Guitar
Josh Pearson - Bass
Sam Geeson - Drums

22 share farewell single '2020' and announce hiatus
shot.jpg

Norwegian prog rock band 22 have announced they are going on hiatus. As a final gift to their fans and followers around the world, the band have released farewell single '2020' via Long Branch Records and Indie Recordings (Nordics).

Watch the lyric video here: https://youtu.be/Yv4Ao43DH2k

Stream and download '2020' here https://22.lnk.to/2020

Band statement from guitarist Magnus Børmark"With 22's numerological origin and all-permeating ethos, as revealed in classic 22-songs like 'Algorythm' and 'Kneel Estate', the year of 2020 had to be of significance. By releasing the song '2020', we are telling that it was the plan all along to keep going until the year 2020, and that the band is now dissolving. With our previous release, the double-album You Are Creating, we were eager to give credit to the listener as a co-creator of the musical experience. Now we are taking it one step further, by removing the hopes of any more music from 22, leaving the listener to create everything themselves. As the lyrics of our farewell-song tell, 'Sometimes things just have to die, in order to live..'"

RADAR FESTIVAL organisers comment:

"In this ever changing and difficult situation, we at RADAR Festival have been fortunate that we have had time to evaluate our position with regards to our event on 31 July and 01 August 2020.

"We take our obligation to keep our customers safe extremely seriously and as we have a wonderfully vibrant, international event, welcoming artists and fans from all over the world, we have internally said for a long time that our benchmarks for holding RADAR Festival on our original dates would be that large gatherings in the UK would be permitted and international travel would be available.

"Sadly, with the current state of the COVID-19 crisis it is increasingly unlikely that our benchmarks will be met and with that in mind, we have taken the decision to postpone RADAR Festival.

"Our new dates are Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October 2020.

"We were beyond delighted with our 2020 line-up and whilst it was initially an extremely hard decision to postpone, we know that it is the right decision.

"We have been working behind the scenes with the agents and bands of our line up and we are delighted that the majority of the bill will move over to October.

"To our existing ticket holders, we dearly hope that you will join us in October and your ticket/s are valid for the new dates. For those who cannot join us for our new dates, we will honour refunds at face value of the ticket/s purchased. Please contact See Tickets directly for more information.

"The reschedule has posed several problems to our event, so we would greatly appreciate it - if you are able - to grab your ticket and some merch from our website. Everything goes to supporting the event and making it bigger and better every year!

"Stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you to RADAR Festival, a little later than planned, for one hell of a party. We believe that you all deserve it!

Ash, Catherine & Joe"

RADAR Festival is held in Guildford, Surrey, on 16th and 17th October 2020.

With their mixture of international talent and confirmed homegrown success, RADAR Festival position themselves as champions of forward-thinking guitar-led music. Launched in 2019 to acclaim, with performances from Animals As Leaders, Agent FrescoRolo Tomassi and more, the new festival is already making a claim as one of the UK's most exciting progressive music events.
