GAZPACHO have released their new single 'Clockwork', taken from their forthcoming album Fireworker which is due for release on 18th September 2020 via Kscope. Following previous single and title-track 'Fireworker', 'Clockwork' doesn't feature on Fireworker in this form; it's part of the album's opening track 'Space Cowboy'.

Keyboardist/programmer Thomas Anderson explains the song is about "a trip into the mind to uncover the animal that, the main character believes, lives there and how much of him it really controls. As the main character of the song ventures deeper and starts sensing that the animal is near, his consciousness tries to warn him that there are some things better left alone and communicates this through a dream."

GAZPACHO have reigned as the kings of atmospheric and affective art rock, no small feat, as the sub-genre is full of wonderfully moody, ornate, and emotional artists; yet, none of them manage to achieve the same level of exquisite baroque resonance and hypnotically introspective weight as this Norwegian sextet. GAZPACHO never fail to provide awe-inspiring examinations of the human condition, and their latest observation, Fireworker, the follow up to 2018’s album Soyuz, is no exception. It is undoubtedly among their greatest achievements, as well as one of the most profound pieces of music you’ll hear in 2020.

Conceptually, the album follows the band’s tradition of blending grand philosophical quandaries, stimulating literary leanings, and haunting personal turmoil. In a way, it acts as the culmination of the themes and techniques that has decorated earlier collections. Fireworker comes across like the overarching umbrella under which all of its predecessors occur.

Scottish quintet TO KILL ACHILLES have released a video for their new single '21:36', following their recent signing to Arising Empire. '21:36' is a call to pay more attention to each other and to take a closer look, but also to allow help.

Taking lyrical inspiration from personal life experiences and musical influence from a wide variety of alternative genres has allowed the five-piece to create a piece of art which fully encapsulates their message:"We only exist when we exist together."

Tymon comments on 'Unravel': "Unravel is probably one of the more unique songs on the album, with its uptempo vibe and many ups and downs. It’s about recognising and breaking down the plethora of coping mechanisms we tend to build into our sense of self over the course of our lives. It’s a song about rediscovering who you are underneath it all. It was the first song we wrote for the new album and it was obvious from the very beginning that this had to be the opening track on the album as well as the first single release."

OUR OCEANS' inventive progressive rock centres on haunting vocal melodies that carry heartfelt cries of longing, anger and despair. Fronted by ex-Tardive Dyskinesia vocalist Manthos Stergiou, CALYCES are a new force on the Greek metal scene.

The soon-to-be-released Impulse to Soar blends prog metal in the way it was shaped through the 00’s, with the finest elements of classic progressive rock from the 70’s, but all with a very 2020 twist. Low-tuned heavy riffs meld with a barrage of polyrhythmic attacks, atmospheric passages, and full-on groove, melody, and energy. An enervating and invigorating first step on to the scene - a record that will add to the collections of all supporters of modern-age Mastodon, Alice In Chains, Intronaut, King Crimson, Baroness, Tool, Gojira. 

Additional flair and artistry was provided by Jørgen Munkeby (Shining) with a saxophone solo on 'Unfair Labour' and of Chrysa Tsaltampasi (Spineless, Bella Fuzz) with vocals on 'Beyond Sight'. Mastered by Grammy award-winning engineer, Alan Douches (Mastodon, Kvelertak, The Dillinger Escape Plan etc) Impulse to Soar was recorded in various studios around Athens with these carefully selected collaborators in order to achieve the band's desired natural, organic sound. Human substance intertwines with artistic complexity to create a thrilling and exhilaratingly impressive debut full-length.

A new vehicle has formed; a metaphor for rebirth and new shape of life. Calyces - the sepals that form a protective layer around a budding flower - is a fitting name for this most exquisite and yet powerful of groups. Forming in 2018, the quartet are made up of well-known Greek musicians, beyond Manthos: Alexis Stavropoulos (drums), Giannis Golfis (guitar) and Stelios Tragos (bass), all of them already key members in the bands Insect Radio and Revenge Of The Giant Face.

The stunning artwork for Impulse to Soar was painted by Maria Stergiou, the vocalist's sister.
