The genesis of KNIFES formed when guitarist Ben Young stepped in as the lead guitar player for Linkin Park for two shows, after the band's guitarist Brad Delson, who Young teched for, got sick. After these shows, playing a magnitude of iconic songs in massive stadiums, Young began writing songs himself.

He then teamed with Warren Johnson - another Linkin Park roadie - on drums, and the two started jamming and formed KNIFES.

After Chester's passing, Young and Johnson started working for Fall Out Boy, and had Brian Diaz join on bass. Brian is Pete Wentz's long-time bass tech; collectively the three members of KNIFES have worked for some of the biggest artists globally including: Guns ‘N Roses, Slipknot, Deftones, Black Eyed Peas, and Pharrell Williams.

The California band's debut EP, Proof of Concept, which harks back to hard-hitting, anthemic '90s rock, was self-produced, alongside Linkin Park engineers Josh Newell and Ethan Mates. Taking advantage of their roadie connections, the band stole studio downtime from Linkin Park to track drums and recorded the rest at Riott House studios, home to the best-sounding guitar amp collection in Los Angeles.

A powerful debut release, KNIFES' fittingly-titled EP demonstrates elements of Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, and grunge legends Our Lady Peace and Silverchair throughout. In their brief history KNIFES have already supported The Matches, and The Damned Things at the famed Whisky a Go Go in L.A., and have already caught the attention of BBC News.

The powerful new album is typical PARADISE IN FLAMES, bombastic and triumphant, led from the front by A. Damien’s terrifying gutturals and O. Mortis’ operatic soprano.

Formed in 2002 with the aim to confront establishment ideas in Brazil, the band soon became the talk of Brazilian metal with their first release, Empire in Ashes.

The following year PARADISE IN FLAMES released their EP, Devil from the Sky, and in 2005 kicked off their first countrywide tour, including the For Chaos festival. Their debut LP Homo Morbus Est was released in 2006 on Democratic Records Brazil / MDR Records (Portugal), and sold 3,000 copies. Copies of this much-sought after debut are still traded on the Brazilian underground, 14 years later.

In 2008 PARADISE IN FLAMES set off on their largest tour, including supporting Krisiun on three dates.

Following a hiatus, the band’s second LP, Labirinto de Metáforas, was released in 2013 – a concept record which received great acclaim at home and abroad.

Finally we turn to their LP Devil’s Collection, a devastating concoction of symphonic black metal, thrash, and complex death metal. Elements of Dimmu Borgir, Vader, Nervosa and Belphegor all come together to triumphant effect – true testament to the talent and rise of a band from an oft-underrepresented area of the metal globe.

Comments Bassist Evgenii Popov: "Je Me Demande is the last single from our Self-Defense album. Even a fleeting sensual and emotional connection is capable of shifting the focus of our conscious mind from the lowest and darkest aspects of existence to the ones brimming with vibrancy and vitality. Such love may appear intangible to the extreme, fictitious, and even ephemeral, but in truth it feels more real than the reality itself, for said reality has long turned into a digital ghetto devoid of physical connections and emotions."

It’s the trio’s third full-length album since their inception in 2011 and explores the idea of detachment while living in a modern city. The band explain: “While it seems people got closer in terms of communication and even physically in reality it’s quite opposite. The modern world generates new ways to feel loneliness. The inspiration also comes from the authors of classics of the dystopian novels: from Yevgeny Zamyatin to George Orwell. Self-Defense is a metaphor for the struggle with the outside world and with oneself. This is the band’s most emotional and overwhelming album, full of reflection and loneliness, set in the modern world and the near future.”

From their inception in 2011, I AM WAITING FOR YOU LAST SUMMER have been on a sonic discovery across their wide discography of three albums and four EPs. With an electronic foundation, their progressive sound coasts through post-rock, house, synthwave, and recently more ambient and mellow backdrops. They keep a strong cinematic presence at their core, most notably influenced by band member Sasha Sokolov’s extensive trailer work for films like Jurassic World, Captain America: Winter Soldier, and Insurgent. These elements combined see I AM WAITING FOR YOU LAST SUMMER travelling new ground with every release, consistently giving their listeners a refreshing and enticing musical experience. 

I AM WAITING FOR YOU LAST SUMMER’s live performance vivifies their music with an active and bolstering presence in concert. Keyboardist/programmer Thomas Anderson explains the video's meaning: "To celebrate the release of Fireworker, here is the film for the track. The album is about our deepest instinctual side and the fireworker who controls us from within. The existence of this entity seems to be something we have always known and celebrated within our older cultures, through rituals where we have projected sides of the fireworker onto Gods. We recognised these sides of our personalities as alien and not a true part of us. The masks that have been used all seem to reveal sides of the creature and they are many and varied. This film shows a small selection of the faces of the 'Fireworker'. May it look upon you with mercy. Enjoy!" 

GAZPACHO have reigned as the kings of atmospheric and affective art rock, no small feat, as the sub-genre is full of wonderfully moody, ornate, and emotional artists. Yet none of them manage to achieve the same level of exquisite baroque resonance and hypnotically introspective weight as this Norwegian sextet. GAZPACHO never fail to provide awe-inspiring examinations of the human condition, and their latest observation, Fireworker, the follow up to 2018’s album Soyuz, is no exception. It is undoubtedly among their greatest achievements, as well as one of the most profound pieces of music you’ll hear in 2020.

Conceptually, the album follows the band’s tradition of blending grand philosophical quandaries, stimulating literary leanings, and haunting personal turmoil. In a way, it acts as the culmination of the themes and techniques that has decorated earlier collections. Fireworker comes across like the overarching umbrella under which all of its predecessors occur.

In 1980/1981, THE DAMNED went to Rockfield for a series of sessions that eventually became The Black Album, The Friday 13th EP & Strawberries. Their time there produced some of THE DAMNED’s greatest musical moments and memorable stories of horses, cows, vampires, rifles and Lemmy.

In 2019 THE DAMNED returned to Rockfield Studios to record their first new music since 2018’s Top Ten Evil Spirits album. The line-up included three out of the four THE DAMNED members that were at the original sessions – David Vanian, Captain Sensible and Paul Gray. There was also Monty Oxymoron on keyboards and Pinch on drums. Unbeknown to the band, this was to be the last recording with the long-time drummer Pinch, who departed THE DAMNED after their legendary show at The London Palladium, last Halloween.

Tom Dalgety (Royal Blood, Rammstein, Ghost) took over the producer duties for the first time, and mixed the tracks at his studio in Bath.

Humans are social animals by nature. If we feel lost, we fall into the arms of our trusted ones. We seek for sympathy and understanding of our beloved ones, and we experience a healing sensation from being held at hard times. But what happens if the trusted person is the cause of our suffering? FUTURE PALACE explore this question on their debut album with full fury. Escape is an extensive catharsis and a healing getaway from toxic relationships. Turning a big cleansing process into metaphorically laden music, the Berlin trio is deeply rooted in the post-hardcore genre while being influenced by different styles of electronica, soul, and 80s-synth-pop all united. 

FUTURE PALACE met at the end of 2018 and have shown impressive focus working towards their debut album. Escape was produced in cooperation with Christoph Wieczorek, who had previously worked with well-known acts including Annisokay and Emil Bulls. FUTURE PALACE spent around six months at his studio in Halle, Germany finalising the songs on Escape. The attention to detail led to a complex mix of genres; but this mindfulness during the working process went beyond the musical component.

FUTURE PALACE are more than just a band with well elaborated music: "My goal with this band – fitting to its name – is creating a better future," explains vocalist Maria about the direction of the project. "We want to develop strength facing difficult experiences and become a motivation for other people."

The three-piece will embark on their Escape headline tour across Germany in early 2021, followed by a European tour supporting Annisokay. Check out the dates on the tour posters below.

RADAR Festival has announced its final wave of bands for their 2021 edition.

Announced today are instrumental progressive titans Intervals, UK hardcore favourites Palm Reader, TesseracT vocalist Daniel Tompkins, and modern metal newcomers Entro-P.

The majority of previously-announced bands will play on the rescheduled dates. To support the festival a crowdfunder has been launched, which will see 20% of proceeds raised being donated to RADAR's crew.

"It’s great to finally be able to share our updated line up with everyone!

Ever since INTERVALS couldn’t make our 2019 edition of the festival, they’ve been an act we’ve wanted to get back as soon as we possibly could.

And with Plini no longer able to make next year, we really thought the timing and fit was just right.

The addition of Daniel Tompkins performing his first ever live show of his solo material was also a really big thing for us. The album is already unique and to now know UK virtuoso and composer Chimp Spanner is joining him on stage only excites us more so.

Palm Reader are slowly becoming one of the UK’s hottest new experimental acts. Touching on a few genres with their complex but organic sound means we think they’re one of the coolest bands to embody what RADAR Festival is about.

And lastly, Entro-P are local favourites that took a break quite a while ago but we know there are some older (people in their 30s) attendees that are glad they’re coming back. And some younger members of the RADAR community will be pleasantly surprised too!

We'd also like to thank everyone for their help and support with our Crowdfunder which draws to a close soon. We cannot believe the amount of love people have shown us as a festival, despite its infancy. That’s been really bewildering for all of us. And we’re so close to our goal too! 2020 has sure had its downs but it’s paved the way to a fantastic 2021 for everything we’re trying to achieve."

Following the success of breakthrough release Us & Them and the highly acclaimed In These Ends, IRONED OUT once again prove that they are one of the UK's most vital forces in heavy music with new album We Move As One. 

Featuring 12 tracks of IRONED OUT's signature mix of UKHC, grime and metal, the band continue to push the boundaries of heavy music and are showing no sign of slowing. Detailing the positive and negative aspects of urban life, each track tells its own story the only way IRONED OUT know how. 'Pagans' tackles the rise of far right extremism in today's society, 'All Hope Is Lost' touches upon the issues surrounding depression and mental health, with the rest of the album covering many issues that affect our lives today.  Also included is a re-recording of fan and dance floor favourite 'ACAB'. 

Founded in 2014 by stalwarts of London's LBU scene, including Wema of the legendary Knuckledust, IRONED OUT are a well seasoned machine who quickly built a reputation as one of the UK's toughest sounding live bands. "With 'Hiding From Myself' we wanted to ensure our lyrical content encapsulated the atmosphere of the piece; the chaos, intensity and pace of the song directly relates with the feelings that ensue when battling your own self worth, whilst trying to come out stronger the other side. "We felt like the single needed a relentless visual to compliment the dynamic ferocity of the song. We wanted chaotic and intense lighting, highlighting the disparity between the usually tranquil setting of a theatre; also utilising highly contrasting colourful visuals to cement the mania you can feel during such pressuring times.”

Since the release of their Closure EP in late 2018, which has now surpassed 1,000,000 streams, AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS have gone from strength-to-strength, touring heavily across the UK & Europe, including performing alongside the likes of Dream State, ADEPT, Our Hollow, Our Home and more.
