Featuring long-term fan favourites 'The Waiting Room', 'What It Feels Like' and 'Now & Then', the LP will also include the rare bonus track 'Distances'.

Vocalist/guitarist Liam Cromby has taken this opportunity to look back at the album's initial release, and subsequent impact:

"Before beginning to writeGo Now And Live, we had just released a 4 track EP with some of our most melodic songs so far, 'Lucky Ones' and 'Playing My Heart'. We had also been on the road with bands likeFuneral For A Friend,People in Planes,Mayday Parade,Canterbury,Straight Lines- bands that had big, melodic anthems. We also had a new touring crew with us at the time, which brought new music to our ears, listening to bands likeThe DraftandHot Water Music. We were also listening toThe PoliceandThe Beatlesa lot at the time. Inspired and hungry to grow as a band, we fearlessly set out to write our most melodic material so far. Not only were we set on writing big anthems, but we had also matured individually and collectively, and felt the need to write more direct and honest lyrics.

"We were on the road endlessly at the time and so had to take whatever writing opportunities whenever, and wherever, we could . 'What It Feels Like' was the first idea to come through - a song written as a conversation with myself. 'Runaway' was written in the front room of our tour manager's house in Leeds (we stayed there a lot during this time). With Leeds being the home of Slam Dunk, bands from the scene were coming through all the time, most of them staying at this house. We were in the thick of it!

'"Trouble Is Temporary, Time Is Tonic' came a week before heading to the studio. With the material we had so far we knew we had to have a strong opener that would match with the rest of the record, and so came the opening line "I would like to say some things and get them off my chest". We decided to record at Middle Farm Studios; tucked away from the world in the hills of Devonshire, it was a new studio run by producer Peter Miles. Pete had come to a show some months before, where we had an opportunity to chat and share ideas for the upcoming record. It was there that we decided to record with him, and so in the middle of December, snowed in, we began to record our second album,
GNAL. Pete is a musical genius, whom I respected greatly, and studied from the get-go. During the recording process we still had a couple of songs to write, and subsequently it was in the studio that both 'Now and Then' and 'The Waiting Room' came to life. The latter would be an expression of the frustrations of a young man wanting to reach great heights.

Hassle had backed us and put faith in us to write and record a follow up to 'Cutting Our Teeth'. During the first playback session the songs were blasting through the
Hassleoffice speakers; those guys were as happy as we were at how well the songs had come together in the studio. They were excited and the band was buzzing... we couldn't wait to release the album!

"It would catapult the band into Radio 1 playlists. I'll never forget hearing our songs on Radio 1, it was like the scene from the movie "That thing you do." . It also bagged us a spot on the main stage at Reading and Leeds festivals An absolute dream come true!

"Recording
Go Now And Liveat Middle Farm Studios is one of my fondest memories, and set us up for the band's most successful years. Forever thankful forPete Miles,Hassle Recordsand my bandmates,Dan Brown,Jack Spence,Tommy MooshandAlfie Scully."

Hassle Records'label bossWezalso took the time to look back at the album's initial release:

“We went into the secondWE ARE THE OCEAN album excited and nervous at the same time. The first albumCutting Our Teethwas (is!) great. Really good songs from a young band literally cutting their teeth.

"We met with the band at their rehearsal space in Essex a couple of times during the writing process to go through demos and make suggestions about what parts of songs worked well, what worked OK, and what didn’t. The guys in the band were always good at listening and taking onboard what we hoped were constructive thoughts.

"The debut album had done well. The band were on the rise in their scene. It sold well, but it didn’t really make a mark outside of specialist radio and press. The potential tunes we heard on the demos for the second record were a massive step up. It’s what you hope to see in a band; progress and growth.

"Peter Miles produced the album at his excellent Middle Farm studios and a visit to the studio proved to be as satisfying as we hoped. The songs were excellent.

"We collectively decided to put 'Trouble Is Temporary, Time Is Tonic' right at the top of the record as a statement of intent. A hard-hitting song with bollocks and melody, which was the perfect statement for what was to come on rest of the album. And the songs just keep on coming. From first single of the campaign 'What It Feels Like', to the excellent 'The Waiting Room' and onto the classic 'Now & Then'. We felt the band had delivered an amazing album. And Radio 1 in the UK agreed, as they playlisted three of the tracks from the album. Everyone's hard work was starting to pay off.”

Modern metal frontrunners TETRARCH announce album details and release new single
Tetrarch1.jpg

After making massive strides at media, radio, streaming and beyond in 2020, breakout metal stars TETRARCH are about to own 2021 with the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album, Unstable, scheduled to drop on 30th April via Napalm Records.

The album is available for pre-order in several exciting formats, here: https://napalmrecords.com/tetrarch

Following the release of their latest hit 'I’m Not Right' – an anthem that cracked the Mediabase Active Rock Top 30 and has commanded the scene since its release with over four million combined cross-platform streamsTETRARCH have revealed another blazing new single, 'You Never Listen'. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/AQq9BH6rV4k

The earworm ode to relationships-gone-bad, which premiered via SiriusXM Liquid Metal, packs a punch with chunky, breakneck riffs and a sing-a-long worthy chorus, proving it as an accessible yet dynamic knockout.

TETRARCH frontman/guitarist Josh Fore says about the track:
“‘You Never Listen’ is for anybody who has struggled or is struggling through a broken relationship – whether it be with a family member, friend, significant other, or even with themselves. So many times, we find that people we once were close with or felt like we knew well show a darker and different side of themselves that forces us apart. ‘You Never Listen’ is about having the strength to say enough is enough and to rid yourself of those toxic situations.”

Lead guitarist Diamond Rowe adds about the track’s blistering new music video: “We wanted to do something unexpected and approach the song from a different lens. Conceptually, the video follows a young kid who is obviously living in a bad situation in a messed-up home. Throughout the video, the kid deals with the inner voices and visions in his head, represented by the band members appearing and disappearing, as he struggles to understand what’s real and what isn’t. As the song ramps up, we wanted to portray the kid as telling those voices to shut up as he takes control and rids himself of the negative energy around him.”

Produced by the band and Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Allegaeon, Khemmis), Unstable follows the band’s breakout debut Freak (2017). The new album shines not only as a natural step forward for TETRARCH, but a giant leap ahead – an even more focused effort combining bright flourishes, grooving low-end and soaring choruses. Unstable wastes no time igniting with the unforgettable, punching first single 'I’m Not Right'. Boosted by frontman Josh Fore’s raw emotion and dynamic vocal style, the track pays homage to the genre’s greats while lifted by the eerie leads of trailblazing lead guitarist Diamond Rowe. Radio-ready, lyrically-relevant tracks like anti-bullying anthem for the ages 'Sick Of You' and empowering 'You Never Listen' showcase TETRARCH’s hefty progressions and unforgettable choruses. Unstable’s heaviest offerings prove the band’s dynamic assault of varying heavy styles, most notedly on assertive breakneck burner 'Negative Noise' – a track that will turn the heads of metal’s greatest riffers with Rowe’s mighty axe attack – and on the melodically chilling 'Take A Look Inside', highlighting the powerful rhythm section of bassist Ryan Lerner and drummer Ruben Limas. The album explores a brooding, introspective side of the band on the standout, melodic 'Addicted' and closer track 'Trust Me', which trickles in supernatural atmosphere. Delivering heavy hit after hit, Unstable is 10 tracks of pure potency and undeniable talent.

Diamond Rowe says about the album: “The album has an overall theme of self-reflection and really looking at the relationships or parts of yourself/your life that you don’t like and getting out of those situations. It’s an angsty record. Musically, we were not timid in showing that we refuse to be boxed in as artists, and I think we really came out swinging with showing the world the type of band that we want to be. Freak did great for us and showed us that the music we were making was something that people wanted to hear, and that gave us the confidence to write and record this beast of an album.”

SIGNS OF THE SWARM release single / video feat. Kublai Khan and Molotov Solution vocalists
SOTS.jpeg

US death metal powerhouse SIGNS OF THE SWARM have unveiled a music video for 'The Collection,' the first new music heard from the band since their Vital Deprivation album.

Featuring guest vocals from Matt Honeycutt (Kublai Khan) and Nick Arthur (Molotov Solution), watch the video to 'The Collection' here: https://youtu.be/Dh0HynA1vp8

'The Collection' will be streaming on DSPs from 5th February. Pre-save here: https://orcd.co/sotsthecollection

Commenting on the collaboration, the band said: "The collaborative vocal efforts of Matt Honeycutt (Kublai Khan) and Nick Arthur (Molotov Solution) on the track not only was an incredible experience for us, but really helped to round out the song as it was coming together. Pushing us to experiment with the aspect of it being a single.”

On the subject matter of 'The Collection', the band continue: "The lyrical content behind 'The Collection' stems from the idea of behind the fan craved concept, the hivemind. An entity that has complete control and manipulation over its people to hold power over its entities. We see this with large governments, religions, cults, and so on."

'The Collection' is a clear statement of intent from SIGNS OF THE SWARM, who promise to deliver one of the heaviest records of 2021. More news soon.

SIGNS OF THE SWARM are a five-piece death metal horde hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Combining various styles such as death metal, slam, and hardcore, each song SIGNS OF THE SWARM conjure is sure to maim and crush. With their catchy riffs, raunchy breakdowns, maniacal vocals and off-the-rails, un-apologetically heavy brand of sonic deviance, SIGNS OF THE SWARM have become a vital part of the heavy music underground.

The return of dance punk: DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 are back with album announcement and new single 'One + One'

DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 (DFA), the boundary pushing musical alliance made up of Sebastien Grainger and Jesse F. Keeler, have released their new single 'One + One' via Spinefarm/UMG. Along with the first single, the band have dropped a surprise announcement of their fourth album, Is 4 Lovers, due for release on 26th March 2021.

'One + One' arrives as an unmistakably DFA-esque track and the first taste of new music since their 2017 release, Outrage! Is Now.

Check out the video for 'One + One' here: http://DFA1979.lnk.to/OnePlusOneVideo

Stream/purchase 'One + One' here: https://dfa1979.lnk.to/OnePlusOne

“‘One + One’ is a love song,” says Grainger. “It’s the karmic sequel to 'Romantic Rights'. My wife, Eva, became pregnant not long after we started working on the song and after hearing an early version she said, ‘I wish this song was dancier’. So I went back into the studio and re-worked the drums. As the record was taking shape, every time I would come home from the studio the baby would start dancing in Eva’s belly. Even before I walked in the room the party would start. One plus one is three, that’s magic!”

In the music video, created as a collage of disparate frames and moments inspired by the photography of artist David Hockney, was shot in Marmora, Ontario and directed by Eva Michon, who also helmed the band’s documentary, Life After Death from Above 1979 (2014).

“Since we started playing people would come up to the stage and after and say: I can’t believe there’s just two of you,” explains Grainger. “The video for ‘One + One’ is Eva’s way of showing that our band is greater than the sum of its parts. It’s DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 in multitudes.”

The new album, which Grainger and Keeler wrote, produced, mastered and recorded entirely by themselves, captures the creation of a totally new sound and a reimagining of the format they created more than 20 years ago. DFA has never sounded more assuredly like themselves than they do on Is 4 Lovers.

With the band leaving subtle hints at what was to come across social platforms over the past few months, fan response at launch, and in anticipation of new music, has been ferocious. Adding to the hype, on 18th January fans were invited to call a hotline, where the lyrics of 'One + One' were recited in a dramatic reading by Keeler. With calls flooding in leading up to the single’s official announcement on 25th January, the news of a forthcoming album leaves fans, fondly referred to as ‘Lovers’, counting down the days to the album’s release.

About Death From Above 1979 (DFA)

Death From Above 1979 (DFA), the boundary pushing musical alliance created by Sebastien Grainger and Jesse F. Keeler, roared out of Toronto with the uncompromising one-two punch of 2002’s fuzz-bomb EP Heads Up and 2004’s epochal debut album You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine, complete with a North American arena tour with Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age, before deciding mid-tour to part ways due to the strain of constantly touring.

Almost a decade later, the rekindled DFA fireworks lit stages around the world a blaze - amassing a posse of fans so passionate they incited a genuine, barricade-smashing riot at Austin’s Beauty Bar at the 2011 South by Southwest Festival. Playing Lollapalooza, Coachella, Glastonbury, Reading / Leeds, Osheaga, Lowlands and more, DFA continued to take the world by storm. Their second album, The Physical World (2014) took a No. 3 spot on the Canadian Billboard album chart and peaked at No. 28 on the U.S. Hot 200, not to mention No. 3 and No. 7 shots on Billboard’s Top Alternative and Top Rock registries, respectively. TV appearances around their first two albums on iconic late-night shows including David Letterman, Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon showed a whole new audience the DFA live goods.

Arriving at No. 20 on the Canadian Billboard album chart, DFA’s scorching 2017 outing, Outrage! Is Now prompted Pitchfork to remark that “Death From Above now sounds more vital than ever.” With three smashing albums to their name, the duo drummed up an easy 10 million views before going silent once more, to the dismay of fans.

Now, DFA is back with the return of their new album, Is 4 Lovers - once again creating a new sound and reimagining the format they created more than 20 years ago.

CONJURER sign worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast
unnamed (1).jpg

The future of British metal lies in safe hands with CONJURER, who continue their journey as the country’s most exciting young metal band with their signing to Nuclear Blast worldwide.

The UK heavyweights will release their still untitled second full-length later this year, the successor to their critically acclaimed 2018 debut LP, Mire.

CONJURER's Brady Deeprose (guitar & vocals) comments:

CONJURER are extremely excited to partner with Nuclear Blast worldwide for the forthcoming release of our second album. Having spent the last year or so getting to know Monte Conner, we count ourselves lucky to be working with not only a true legend in the world of heavy music, but one who continues to champion exciting, forward-thinking art. We’ve now also been introduced to Barley and the rest of the international team at NB and it’s evident that they understand our mentality and want nothing more than to support and nourish our creativity. In what has been an awful year on so many levels, we are grateful to have found the right home for our music.

We look forward to working together with NB to bring you our sophomore album in 2021, and much more in the years to follow.”

Nuclear Blast's A&R legend Monte Conner states:

“I am thrilled to welcome the mighty CONJURER to the worldwide NB family. I must stress “worldwide” because I originally signed them just for North America, but due to a change in circumstances I got to sign them again, and this time for the WORLD! So, I guess you could say I liked these guys so much that I signed them TWICE! When COVID finally lifts, be sure and see them live as they will absolutely blow you away.”

European A&R at Nuclear Blast, Nathan Barley Phillips, adds:

“My first experience of CONJURER playing live was during a cold and miserable night in Milton Keynes in 2016 - I didn't think there was a band capable of radioactively reheating my bones whilst also matching the utter bleakness of the weather outside. CONJURER achieved it in droves, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Absolutely stoked to serve as European A&R for the band during the next chapter of their career."

You can watch the video for 'The Mire' and stream the band's first two full releases here:
http://nblast.de/Conjurer-Catalogue

CONJURER’s debut full-length Mire (2018) was released to a storm of attention from across the metal world, garnering significant acclaim from Metal Hammer UK, Kerrang!, BBC R1, Visions Mag (DE), Metal Obs (FR), MetalSucks, Metal Injection, Loudwire and many more. Recipients of award nominations (Kerrang!, Heavy Music Awards, Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods) and countless albums of the year lists, Mire is a stunning listen, capturing the attitude of a young band who already know exactly who they are.

Hailed as one of the metal world’s most devastating, thrilling experiences, CONJURER are a band never content to rest. Following Mire’s release in 2018 the quartet soon toured Europe for the first time, appeared at multiple UK festivals, and support of doom titans Conan and Will Haven.

In the following years the band have toured the US twice, supporting Rivers of Nihil (stopping to record an Audiotree session along the way), and then Voivod, with Revocation. 2019 also saw CONJURER’s debut Download Festival appearance, thrilling a packed-out Dogtooth stage, and the release of the joyous collaborative project with Pijn, titled Curse These Metal Hands. Later in the year a split EP with Palm Reader was released, containing two cover songs by each band.

It was only at the end of 2019 that CONJURER closed out their triumphant Mire cycle, with a sold-out UK run – their debut headline tour. Despite Covid-19 preventing live appearances for the majority of 2020 the band have unsurprisingly been busy, writing and recording their highly-anticipated second LP.

GHOST IRIS reveal details of new album 'Comatose'

Winning over new fans every night with their intense and energetic performance, audiences around the world are hungry for the band’s return.

Gearing up for the release of their awaited fourth full length album, ComatoseGHOST IRIS are building upon the sound explored on their previous album. Pulverizing instrumentals, bleak lyrics, catchy and hard-hitting - Comatose is no exception to these descriptors, being their most visceral material yet.

Pre-Order Comatose here: https://smarturl.it/ghostiris_comatose

GHOST IRIS comment on the album title: "Comatose is a title that represents in a plethora of ways. It’s about the fact that many people are asleep, but even from a coma, one can arise. On the surface it might seem extremely dark, nihilistic and bearing of a defeatist attitude, but darkness cannot exist where there’s light. We all exist in the age of enlightenment and even though it seems as if we’re all screwed and the earth is almost destroyed, times will surely change. Arise from the coma, no longer comatose, we fight the demons."

Commenting on the artwork, they continue: "The artwork for Comatose depicts Kali, whose name translates to “she who is death”, as a mere mortal. To serve the title of the album, the majority of mankind are asleep and oblivious as to what is going on around them. Ultimately, we are death. However, there is no darkness without the light - let us all arise from the coma."

GHOST IRIS recently announced a European tour as special guests for post-hardcore band SKYWALKER. The tour was originally planned for 2020 but was postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. Check social media for dates.

SOM (feat Constants, Junius, Caspian members) sign to Pelagic Records
unnamed.jpg

Atmospheric rock collective SOM – comprised of current and former members of Constants, Junius, and recent Grammy nominees Caspian – have signed to Pelagic Records.

Taken from their new EP, Awake, due out on on 12th March, watch the video for single 'Awake // Sedate' here: https://youtu.be/RcwyLCipWdc

The band commented: “We’re stoked to be working with Pelagic for this release. We’ve been friends with and have toured with Pelagic bands for many years, so it just feels like a big family. They do beautiful things with vinyl, so we know this is going to look awesome.”

Pelagic Records head (and also guitarist of The Ocean Collective) Robin Staps adds: “Please excuse the short notice of our involvement, but SOM have written and recorded two amazing tracks here that have simply blown us all away. Blissfully heavy and immensely listenable in equal measure, the Awake EP has been on heavy rotation at the Pelagic warehouse. We’re excited to release it on vinyl and CD, and to offer our vinyl subscription holders an extra gem."

Combining two exclusive originals with remixes by beloved collaborators Holy Fawn, Hisself (Johnny Dang of O’Brother), U Dye (Marshall Gallagher of Teenage Wrist), and Giuseppe Capolupo (The Devil Wears Prada), the short collection is a triumph of self-described “heavy dream pop.” Its concise compositions balance the gritty riffs of Deftones with airy, Tame Impala-esque vocal lines, just as primed for rock radio success as they are for shoegaze-loving connoisseurs. “Our past projects were very exploratory,” explains drummer Duncan Rich. “With SOM, it’s a lot more focused. Creating in a pandemic has imposed limits – it’s a test of working within boundaries. How do we make something expansive, yet digestible and impactful?” The tracks are part of SOM’s ongoing mission to “leave this place better than we found it.”

More information on SOM:

Duncan Rich co-founded SOM with frontman and former Constants colleague Will Benoit, as well as Adai founder and now-Caspian drummer Justin Forrest. While touring on The Fall in 2019, the band added guitarists Mike Repasch-Nieves and Joel M. Reynolds, both formerly of Junius and Driftoff. “We’ve always been a musical family,” Rich adds.

Repasch-Nieves continues, “Will and I started a label, Radar Recordings, in Boston during the early 2000s, which was an amazing time and place for music. It was very much a collective of like-minded artists, which grew as we all toured around the world together in the years to follow.” The alluring Awake is far from the five longtime friends’ only endeavour to create a better world around them. Despite being recorded in quarantine, the EP was mixed by Benoit at his own Radar Studio in Connecticut – New England’s first solar-powered recording facility. Repasch-Nieves and Reynolds, meanwhile, spent 2020 sustaining an urban farm in New York City, while Forrest distributed vegan food to Black Lives Matter activists in Denver through the Summer. Equally philanthropic is Rich, who now uses his production experience to host emotional fluency events for men. While many musicians lumbered in inactivity, SOM used the darkness of recent times to create and heal. Awake’s bliss is an insight not only into the kind of harmony the quintet seeks to cultivate in all facets of life, but also the exciting second full-length that looms on the horizon.

“SOM play the kind of somber, glimmering music that exudes a heavy fog of emotion and introspection around it.” – Kerrang!

“Perfect for laying in a pile of leaves while quietly pondering everywhere you went wrong in life.” – MetalSucks

SOM are:

Will Benoit – vocals, guitars
Justin Forrest – bass
Mike Repasch-Nieves – guitars
Joel M. Reynolds – guitars
