Death Tribe (Anthony Kaoteon) releases second single from new album / animated movie
unnamed - 2021-06-25T120250.991.jpg

Death Tribe, the politically-charged project founded up by award-winning Kaoteon guitarist Anthony Assaker, has released new single 'Thawra'. This is the second track taken from new album, Beyond The Red Light District: A Canal Experiment, which is set for release on on 23rd July, and will be accompanied with an animated movie.

Stream 'Thawra' and watch chapter two from the movie, featuring the track here: https://youtu.be/JOGY21HZ1IY

Anthony commented: "'Thawra' is a new track inspired by the Beirut explosion that destroyed my parents' house and rendered them hopeless. My helplessness kills me and the only way I could pull the trigger is by creating this track for all those oppressed by corrupt governments and regimes around the world and need to REVOLT. I hope it helps inspire some youth to keep the flame of freedom burning."

Beyond the Red Light District: A Canal Experiment (The Red Experiment for short) is a statement against all that is wrong in the world today. Everything that is pushed down our throats as we lost our tenure and are blinded by fear and manipulated knowledge - the worst kind of ignorance. All music, lyrics, guitars and concept by Anthony. Other musicians include and not limited to: Baard Kolstad (Leprous) - drums, Linus Klausenitzer (Obsidious): bass and Chris Baum (Bent Knee): violin.

Born in the midst of warfare, Anthony almost had his spirit broken by oppression, but now creates the perfect soundtracks to rebellion and defiant resistance. Anthony is pushing the boundaries of his artistic expression on the second album, these songs are the long, throat-rending roar of one man’s resolve to forge his own life on his own terms and to savour every breath.

Already known for his work with Golden God Award winners Kaoteon, Death Tribe is Anthony’s most diverse musical statement to date. This is a staggering achievement against all the odds, the sonic distillation of absolute defiance. This epitomises everything that metal was ever meant to be.

Anthony comments: "Music is not only about creating angry music but it is as well about the message behind the music. I want to create music with purpose to impact the listener and build awareness about what is wrong in this world. I want the listener to think about their daily choices that are leading humanity to its own demise. We need to stop blaming the world for our own mistakes. We are the world, we have the right to vote, the right to act, the right to raise awareness in many parts of the world and if we want a better world, we need to stop choosing what is right for our best interest and do what is best for everyone. From speaking up and supporting black communities, to LGBTQ+ communities, to supporting women's rights and talking about oppressed nations from Colombia to Palestine just as much as I speak up about the suppression of the Lebanese people by their own government. We cannot choose when to call something right and wrong and this is what the 2nd album is all about - This is a wake up call to the world to realise that we need to change faster than ever before.”

Anthony now resides in The Netherlands, but he was born into the chaos and conflict of Beirut, under the looming shadows of corruption and domination, the disciples of radical ideologies poised vulture-like over his days and nights. However, he was not born a man to blindly accept his fate – he was determined to shape his own destiny. This is the first album that Anthony composed in the Netherlands and it feels like a new breed of chaos was born in these lands.

Death Tribe is a celebration of life's ultimatum - Death.

Finnish metalcore quintet Atlas announce new album & release video for title track
PROMO2021 - 2000px.png

Finnish metalcore quintet Atlas have announced their new album UKKO, due for release on 22nd October 2021 via Long Branch Records. The band have also revealed a video for their new single, the album's title track 'Ukko'.

Watch the video for 'Ukko' here: https://youtu.be/IxoayKPth1Q

The heaviest music Atlas have ever written, 'Ukko's title honours the band's father figure who recently passed away. 'Ukko' is also a euphemism of the Finnish pre-Christian mythological god of the sky, thunder, weather, and harvest.

Guitarist Tuomas Kurikka comments:

"It's our way of honoring those we've loved and lost. Heavy looping rhythms, huge percussions, and ominous melodies create a song that celebrates northern spirits. A true sacrifice for the old Finnish pagan gods."

Stream 'UKKO' and pre-order the album here: https://smarturl.it/atlas_ukko

Atlas are a five-piece modern metalcore band from Tampere, Finland labelling themselves as 'Northcore'. The quintet's sound combines mammoth riffs and gloomy soundscapes, that draw inspiration from the cold of the North. Their releases include 2016 EP Northern Lights, 2018 standalone singles 'Birthright' and 'The Catalyst' and debut full-length Primitive, as well as their 2019 single trilogy.

The quintet explore a new sonic palette on their second album UKKO, drawing inspiration from Finnish folk music and poetry, combined with the dark soundscapes and dynamic songwriting the band have become known for. Lyrically and thematically, UKKO explores themes of death, healing, rebirth and faith, presented in a seamlessly blended mix of English and Finnish. UKKO was mixed and mastered by Buster Odeholm (Vildhjarta, Oceano, Humanity's Last Breath, Born of Osiris), who brought his unique approach and sound to the album.

Atlas have played throughout Europe with the likes of Monuments, Miss May I, VOLA, Kadinja, Adept, Eskimo Callboy, One Morning Left and We Butter The Bread With Butter. Their debut album Primitive climbed the Finnish album charts to number six and came to life on a European tour with Monuments, receiving praise from fans and critics alike.

Music icon Dee Snider has released new single 'Time To Choose', featuring George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher of metal legends Cannibal Corpse.

The single is taken from forthcoming album Leave A Scar, released 30th July via Napalm Records.

In 2018, legendary heavy metal vocalist and pop culture pillar Dee Snider turned the heavy music world on its axis with his transformative album, For The Love Of Metal. Produced by Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta, the album re-cemented Dee’s undeniable prowess with its modernised mastery and take-no-prisoners attitude. Three years later, with one of the most collectively tumultuous times society has ever experienced behind him, Dee Snider triumphantly returns with his fifth full-length album, Leave A Scar.

Once again produced by Jamey Jasta with co-production, mixing and mastering by drummer Nick Bellmore, Leave A Scar sees Dee Snider & co. continuing in the invigorated direction of For The Love Of Metal, infusing a dose of classic heavy metal flavour that long-time fans will rush to embrace.

Today, following the album's charging first single of resilience, 'I Gotta Rock (Again)' - which instantly reached SiriusXM Liquid Metal's Devil's Dozen upon release - Dee Snider is thrilled to reveal the album's second single, 'Time To Choose'. 'Time To Choose' features the brutal vocals of Cannibal Corpse's George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher. Backed by an energetic lyric video, the track blends Corpsegrinder's eviscerating lows with Dee Snider's razor-sharp cleans, making for a dynamic yet ruthless burner listeners won't soon forget.

Dee Snider says about 'Time To Choose': "'Time To Choose' deals with a subject I've addressed often over the course of my writing career: good vs. evil (see 'Burn In Hell'). Given the heaviness of this track, I felt adding George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher's voice to this would drive home the seriousness of the choices we make. I was honored when he agreed to contribute his incredibly powerful voice."

Like a scar itself, Leave A Scar is an illuminating plenitude of angst etched in time – serving as a musical refuge and expressive output for Dee. But in turn, this auditory time capsule written to express the anger, unease and pain he experienced during lockdown emerges as not only blisteringly heavy, but relentlessly powerful. Each of the 12 tracks on Leave A Scar not only further bolster Dee Snider’s position as one of the most celebrated frontmen of all time, showcasing that his vocal delivery and commanding swagger is as strong as ever, but that he is nowhere near stopping.

Heads will bang within seconds of the hard-charging opening notes of ultra-catchy album starter and lifer anthem 'I Gotta Rock (Again)', instantly setting the stage for the non-stop onslaught of metallic mainstays to come. Tracks like the brutal 'Time To Choose' – featuring the primed guest vocal attack of Cannibal Corpse’s George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher – and mosh-ready 'The Reckoning' showcase the album’s heavy assault, without sacrificing the harmonic goodness evident on tracks like the unrelenting, hooky thrasher 'All Or Nothing More' and melodic, metalcore inspired 'In For The Kill'. Energetic single of strength 'Down But Never Out' encapsulates the chunky riffage and driving drums palpable throughout the album, while searing 'Before I Go' provides one of the album’s most massive, memorable choruses and chilling lyrics. The album closes with victorious ballad 'Stand', a call for listeners to take a stand and make their voices heard. If For The Love Of Metal ignited Dee Snider’s eminent surge into a new era – Leave A Scar sets it ablaze.

Dee Snider says about Leave A Scar: “By the end of 2020, I knew I not only had to get back into the studio, but for the first time since the '90s, I wanted – no, needed – to be a part of the writing process. I reached out to my producer Jamey Jasta and told him I was ready to make another record. Leave a Scar is filled with messages to and for the silent voices in the world who need someone to speak out on their behalf. This is my purpose.”

Jamey Jasta says regarding working with Dee Snider again: “Getting to work with Dee again has been incredible! The power and range in his vocals on this album really shine. Not only is he an American treasure and staple in the rock/metal community, he’s a truly original voice and talent like no other. Combine that with the metallic prowess of the Bellmore bros + Russell Pzütto and Nick Petrino, you get a rockin’ metal recipe that even the most "Dee-hard" SMF’ers will surely love!”

Dual bassist prog trio The Omnific release new single featuring Clay Gober of Polyphia
unnamed (30).jpg

Melbourne progressive instrumental trio The Omnific - featuring the unique line-up of two bass players and a drummer - have streamed their exhilarating new single 'Antecedent', featuring Clay Gober, bassist of Polyphia.

Watch 'Antecedent' here: https://youtu.be/co2vlSu2Gow

Stream: https://smarturl.it/theomnific

Bassist Matthew Fackrell comments: "True to the definition of 'Antecedent', we looked to create a vintage style of music video, taking inspiration from the story of Sherlock Holmes. With the addition of paintings and artist utensils, coupled with the easel used, it allowed for Clay to be featured in a unique and appropriate manner. To the eagle-eyed viewer, an Easter egg is hidden within the music video too."

Clay Gober says: "I had such a wicked good time working on this. It’s the first guest part I’ve ever done so I had to run it through about 100 refinement steps, just out of the desire to make it kick as much ass as possible. But on the other hand, some of the more key parts of it came pretty quick (which to me is the mark of a good song). Grateful to have been given such a fun project during quarantine, and by such a talented group of guys."

After releasing three stunning EPs the band have attracted interest and fans from all corners of the globe clocking in over 5 million Spotify streams and 2 million views on their Youtube channel. The Omnific’s accessible style is for all music lovers; from those seeking to be challenged to those who wish to be blanketed by atmosphere, creating an identifiable sound and diverse international fan base. With swirling textures, syncopation, euphoric highs and melancholic lows;, The Omnific are truly captivating.

The band have established working relationships with reputable companies Darkglass Electronics, Neural DSP and Dingwall Guitars, seeing them represent the brands with performances at the Melbourne Guitar Show, bringing attention amongst the ‘Gear-Nerd’ community. Coupled with their online play-through, gear demo and music videos, the band’s reach is beyond what many would expect from this impressive Melbourne trio so early in their career.

They are also no stranger to the live circuit with a stack of domestic and international touring under their belt, having toured with Between the Buried and Me (Australian Tour) Cog (Sold Out Australian Tour), Intervals & Sithu Aye (European Tour), several of their own headline Australian tours as well as supporting Ne Obliviscaris, Galactic Empire, Circles and others.

Conjurer re-release video for 'Choke'
unnamed (29).jpg

Following a spectacular and long overdue return to the live stage at the Download Pilot last weekend, UK metal heavyweights Conjurer have re-released their video for 'Choke', the relentless opening track of their debut LP Mire (2018). Effortlessly switching from sludge to metallic hardcore, and from progressive post-metal to post-black metal, this song not only demonstrates the musical proficiency of this young band, it also proves that they can't be pigeonholed no matter how hard you try.

Conjurer - 'Choke': https://youtu.be/u_KCxp5CSvg

Conjurer's Conor Marshall (bass) comments:
“'Choke' has become a bit of a fan-favourite over the past few years since Mire was released and it’s one of ours too. I think the general consensus within the band is still that 'Choke' is the “best" Conjurer song that’s been released so far and showcases a lot of what we do. The video loosely follows the lyrical theme of the song, which looks at the way things like “fame” and pressure from society, the industry and the gutter press can affect artists and celebrities. The idea being that the shots of the band in a white room, dressed in suits represents someone being dressed up and pushed out to perform despite them clearly not being in the best state, and them then starting to deteriorate, and the dark, more aggressive shots representing the inner turmoil and struggle.

Conjurer's still untitled second full-length and follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2018 debut album Mire is set to be released in the not too distant future. Stay tuned for more information.

In the meantime you can watch a video for the song 'The Mire' and stream the band's two previous releases here: http://nblast.de/Conjurer-Catalogue

The future of British metal lies in safe hands with Conjurer, who continue their journey as the country’s most exciting young metal band with their signing to Nuclear Blast worldwide.

Conjurer’s debut full-length Mire (2018) was released to a storm of attention from across the metal world, garnering significant acclaim from Metal Hammer UK, Kerrang!, BBC R1, Visions Mag (DE), Metal Obs (FR), MetalSucks, Metal Injection, Loudwire and many more. Recipients of award nominations (Kerrang!, Heavy Music Awards, Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods) and countless albums of the year lists, Mire is a stunning listen, capturing the attitude of a young band who already know exactly who they are.

Hailed as one of the metal world’s most devastating, thrilling experiences, Conjurer are a band never content to rest. Following Mire’s release in 2018 the quartet soon toured Europe for the first time, appeared at multiple UK festivals, and support of doom titans Conan and Will Haven.

In the following years the band have toured the US twice, supporting Rivers of Nihil (stopping to record an Audiotree session along the way), and then Voivod, with Revocation. 2019 also saw Conjurer’s debut Download Festival appearance, thrilling a packed-out Dogtooth stage, and the release of the joyous collaborative project with Pijn, titled Curse These Metal Hands. Later in the year a split EP with Palm Reader was released, containing two cover songs by each band.

It was only at the end of 2019 that Conjurer closed out their triumphant Mire cycle, with a sold-out UK run – their debut headline tour. Despite Covid-19 preventing live appearances for the majority of 2020 the band have unsurprisingly been busy, writing and recording their highly-anticipated second LP.

Featuring Attila's gripping vocals and irresistible riffs, the accompanying cinematic music video takes the viewer back to the past and once again showcases POWERWOLF's visual strength. The video comes as a cinematic short film and stages a wild dance with the dead.

Once again created in cooperation with the honorable producer duo of Jens Bogren and Joost van den Broek, the masterpiece will open a new chapter in the band's history on 16th July 2021. The eighth studio album will serve both old and newly recruited POWERWOLF devotees with well-known classic trademarks, and equally surprise and delight them at every stage of this wild 11-track ride.

Matthew Greywolf comments on Call Of The Wild: "With Call Of The Wild, we are opening a new, exciting chapter in the history of POWERWOLF. The album sounds unmistakably like POWERWOLF and is so much more at the same time: Besides new territory like the Celtic instrumentation in 'Blood for Blood (Faoladh)' or the ballad like 'Alive or Undead' we have raised all our trademarks to a new level. Until now, we never sounded so powerful and wild - in the truest sense of the word. We can't wait to finally share this beast of an album with you all!"

ABOUT POWERWOLF:

The story of POWERWOLF, beginning in 2004, reads like a true fairytale, but is the result of the most hard-working and entertaining live band on the heavy metal planet. POWERWOLF has not only received plenty of Gold and Platinum awards to date, but numerous releases have entered the official German album charts at the top position of #1. With Blessed & Possessed (2015), POWERWOLF achieved Gold status (in the Czech Republic) for the first time, while its predecessor, Preachers Of The Night (2013), hit the official German album charts at #1, and the incredible DVD, The Metal Mass (2016), came in at #1 of the German DVD-Charts. POWERWOLF's holy mass in the name of heavy metal is unstoppable – their latest magnum opus, The Sacrament of Sin (2018), again entered the album charts at #1. The accompanying, almost completely sold out Wolfsnächte headline tour – in which POWERWOLF headlined large venues with their phenomenal stage performances – became a single major triumph, as well as the numerous summer festival shows in which crowds were thrilled and completely captivated by the wolves and their unique, (un)holy metal mass. With the new studio album, Call Of The Wild, and the Wolfsnächte 2021 tour charging through the largest halls in Europe, 2021 will again be a year completely under the sign of the wolf pack!

Ingested launch new single 'This Disgusting Revelation'
unnamed (23).jpg

British death metal titans Ingested have released 'This Disgusting Revelation', the second killer single to be taken from their forthcoming release of The Surreption II - a reimagined recording of their vital second album, The Surreption. The reimagined version will celebrate the album's 10 year anniversary and is set for release on 30th July 2021 via Unique Leader.

Vocalist Jason Evans comments: "We're very excited to present to you our reimagined version of 'This Disgusting Revelation', this was always one of our favourite tracks from the original release of The Surreption and we're super happy we've finally been able to give it the love and attention it deserves. We decided to take a no-frills approach to this video, editing together footage captured during the lockdown recording sessions for the album. This is us, raw and unfiltered, no bells and whistles, coming out swinging. This song is brutal and not for the faint of heart! But what else were you expecting? Watch the video, blast it fucking LOUD, but most of all, ENJOY THAT SHIT! We love you all, thank you so much for the love and support during what has been a difficult year for everyone, our fans are our family and we've got so much more in store for you. Big love."

Comprised of ten tracks, The Surreption II has been reimagined, rerecorded and modernised to reflect present-day Ingested, over 44 minutes of some of the finest death metal the UK has ever produced, played with intensity and breathless precision. Over the course of the past decade Ingested have continued to rise, perfecting their sound to wield not only a recognisable brutality but also to demonstrate considerable technical prowess, to become one of the most dynamic forces in contemporary death metal.

Production, drum tracking, mixing and mastering were handled by Nico Beninato of Kimera Recordings in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Nico has also worked with Ingested on their past three releases Stinking Cesspool of Liquefied Human Remnants [2021], Where Only Gods May Tread [2020] and Call of the Void [2019]. Guitars and vocals were tracked at home with Nico overseeing via Zoom call. The band had never recorded an album over Zoom before and comment that it was 'a really odd but awesome experience.'

Commenting on why they chose to re-record the album the band said: "We always felt that the songs on The Surreption were great but there was just something not right about the sound, it just kind of sounded small and there were some performances on songs we weren't happy with. So we needed to make everything bigger and better, and we feel that we've really achieved something special here."

The original artwork has also had a make-over, initially created by Colin Marks the band asked him to reimagine his original piece to fit their reimagined version of the album. The original The Surreption album cover was also the only artwork in Ingested's discography that wasn't tied into every other album cover via Easter eggs, something which the band has now rectified.

More info on Marisa And The Moths:

Marisa And The Moths
are one of the hottest unsigned rock acts in the UK right now. Their debut self-titled LP hit #66 in the Official Downloads Chart and has amassed hundreds of thousands of streams globally. One of the first bands to create high quality live streams at the start of the pandemic, the band have more than tripled their social media audience with their stunning performances.

Marisa And The Moths are a group who bring to mind the best hard rock and grunge bands of the 90s, all while adding their own modern twist. Led by the brilliantly mercurial and charismatic frontwoman Marisa Rodriguez, and ably supported by Liam Barnes, bass, the band have gathered a small army of supporters, even at this early DIY stage.

Since their debut in 2019 with 'Skin' they've rapidly garnered a following which continues to grow at pace. The band have been championed by Planet Rock and BBC Radio 2 Rock Show, Kerrang! Radio and Classic Rock Magazine; after completing two UK headline tours, Marisa And The Moths are heading out on their third tour this Winter 2021. Their second album is scheduled for release in early 2022, and is predominantly funded by their devoted fanbase.

For fans of HalestormFoo FightersAudioslaveMarisa And The Moths deliver a deeply personal sound, detailing Marisa’s struggles with anxiety and everyday sexism amongst other themes. The music is the perfect vehicle for Marisa’s voice, soulful and compelling, and her devastatingly powerful lyrics.

wornoc releases live video for debut single 'Signs' featuring drummers Andrew Marshall (Billie Eilish) and Justin Nace (ex-PVRIS)
unnamed (18).jpg

Dublin based alt-electronic composer wornoc has released a performance video for his debut single, 'Signs', featuring drummers Andrew Marshall (Billie Eilish) and Justin Nace (ex-PVRIS).

Stream here: https://ffm.to/wornocmusic

wornoc (Conor Walsh)'s personal attraction towards minimalist instrumental music encompasses his fascinations with static harmony, gradual additive textures, repetition, phase shifts and static instrumentation. His music allows the listener to become mesmerised by the meta-musical properties revealed within his intoxicating fusion of cinematic, intense, emotional and at times, aggressive styles of compositions, driven by infectious grooves, melodic guitar riffs and electronic music.

Far from the typical sounds of the Irish music scene, wornoc provides a spectacular sonic environment for introspections.

'Signs' is full of these subtle layers of textural timbres, taking the listener on an unexpected journey into the unknown.

As wornoc comments: wornoc has been in the works for a while now, but I often found myself busy or distracted with life and my alt-punk band, Versive. When Covid hit, I suddenly had a bit more free time on my hands so I had no excuse but to finally lift this project off the ground. Last summer I built a small cosy recording studio in my back garden which pushed me to start writing music that was different to what I usual did. wornoc was born out of my inspiration for film music, electronic music and sound design. 'Signs' was the first track I wrote, which came together quite quickly, probably because I was acting on a gut instinct and didn’t feel any pressure to write anything in a certain genre.”
