All-star quintet Imonolith release cover of Björk's 'Army Of Me'

Lyric video streaming now

More new music planned for 2021

All-star modern metal band Imonolith return with a bass-heavy, self-released cover of Björk's 'Army Of Me'.

Watch the lyric video here: https://youtu.be/Afe5NXbyM9A

Stream/purchase 'Army Of Me' here: https://linktr.ee/imonolith

Says drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen: "Imonolith are excited to release our version of the classic Björk hit, ‘Army of Me’. I had an idea of how to cover the song back in 2011 and demoed it with a past project but never released it. I brought up this version to everyone in Imonolith, they dug it, so we re-recorded it with a few new twists. It’s basically a heavier version of the original song with some big modern day production. Jon did an incredible job paying respect to Björk’s vocal melodies. Musically, the chorus and a few other parts of the song get injected with some new energised patterns. We’re stoked on how it turned out and can’t wait for everyone to hear what we did with this classic song."

Imonolith features drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen (Devin Townsend Project), guitarist Brian ‘Beav’ Wadell (Devin Townsend Project), Jon Howard (Threat Signal), guitarist Kai Huppunen (Methods of Mayhem, Noise Therapy) and Scott Whalen (Econoline Crush). The collective of heavy-hitting players at the top of their game, released their debut album State of Being, in 2020. The album features special guest appearances from Jens Kidman (Meshuggah) and famed Swedish vocalist Johannes Eckerström and is made up of 10 hook-laden, riff-heavy tracks that centre around the theme of how people deal with various stages of life.

Even with their big album touring plans cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the band showed no sign of slowing, and recorded a series of play-through sessions. Watch them here: https://www.youtube.com/imonolith

With tour plans firming up for later in the year and 2022, you'll be hearing a lot more from this ferocious new act very soon.

Folk-prog artist Dikajee releases new video 'River Rite'
Dikajee.jpg

From debut LP Forget~Me~Nots, to be released 13th August

"sublime debut album" - Metal Hammer

The hauntingly brilliant folk-prog artist Dikajee has revealed her new video 'River Rite', taken from her unique debut full-length album Forget~Me~Nots, released 13th August.

Watch here: https://youtu.be/5Cs4rtS1BbE

Pre-order Forget~Me~Nots here: dikajee.com

Of the song, Dikajee comments: "I first wrote it on my toy piano that I got for my 11th birthday. A couple of days after my grandfather passed away, ten years later, I was visiting my parent's place and found it there, all covered with dust; places and events of childhood sometimes have a huge influence on us, we may not know nor notice, but all the traumas and all the happiness of the childhood are somewhere there, always with us."

Forget~Me~Nots is a stunning display from the originally Russian-based musician, which throughout places her incredible voice front and centre. It’s a fitting tribute to an artist who considers herself a globalist. In her words: “I am a citizen of the world. No age, no nationality, no gender, no religion. I know we can’t completely run away from reality, but as R.P. McMurphy said, “At least I tried”.”

Such an esoteric, worldly approach is truly typical of this brilliant artist, and an album recorded throughout Europe, and with a truly international cadre and calibre of musician. Recording and producing in Norway, Portugal, Germany, France, Latvia, Russia, Forget~Me~Nots features guest appearances from Faun’s Fiona Rüggeberg (bagpipes), Klone’s Guillaume Bernard (guitars), Erik Truffaz's Artis Orubs (drums) and Amber Foil’s João Filipe (guitars) among others.

The international, collaborative outlook pays dividends across a record that showcases the best of folk, minimalist electronic, neo-baroque, neo-classical and truly inventive progressive rock. Above all else shines through Dikajee’s voice, a once-in-a-generation talent that recalls the best of Bjork and Kate Bush. Musically, shades of Steven Wilson, Nightwish, and Gentle Giant shine through.

Across Forget~Me~Nots Dikajee’s gloriously imaginative ethos is heard again and again. Track Four, ‘River Rite’, is a self-described “pagan ritual” song, which plays on the dual parables of the energy of floral wreaths, and of the wiseman by the river. The closing track, ‘Something Mystique’ is an exploration of the state of loss, and involved the visiting of more than ten abandoned grand estates of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.

An artist who previously toured Germany and Switzerland, opened for Yann Tiersen, Recoil (Depeche Mode’s Alan Wilder), and Nils Petter Molvær; and placed in Prog Magazine’s Top Unsigned Bands, Dikajee will deservedly have a bright and illustrious future.

'Lay Me To Rest' available now

New EP planned for 26th November

Playing Slamdunk on 4th & 5th September 2021

Punk rock outfit zebrahead have dropped their latest single 'Lay Me To Rest', the first track to feature new vocalist Adrian Estrella, taken from their upcoming new EP, set for release on 26th November.

zebrahead are going strong as they turn the page to a new chapter of the band’s long career. As they say goodbye and best wishes to vocalist/guitarist Matty Lewis, they are thrilled to announce that long-time staple in the punk rock scene Adrian Estrella is joining the family. 'Lay Me To Rest' serves as a great taster of their new sound and of what can be expected from their upcoming EP.

On his new position, Adrian states: “After knowing the dudes in zebrahead for years now and having played a few shows with them and already considered them friends, I was honoured when I got the call to join the band. Working together on the new songs has been such a fun time and I look forward to playing shows and meeting the fans."

On the single, he continues: “I am so beyond stoked to have you all hear our new single 'Lay Me To Rest.' I could not be prouder of the song, work, time and effort we’ve all put into this” .

Vocalist / rapper Ali Tabatabaee commented: “I can’t wait for everyone to hear 'Lay Me to Rest.' the song is about appreciating the time you have and making the most of each and every day. Adrian’s powerful voice really complements the zebrahead sound and I’m excited for our fans to hear the new songs! Chapter three...let’s go!”

Bassist Ben Osmundson commented: "The band came up with the idea for the video when 'Lay Me To Rest' was picked as the introduction song for Adrian. Since it incorporates death and moving onward, we thought it was the perfect fit for what was actually happening in real life to the band. We had to decide if we were going let one of the most important things in our life die, or if we wanted to use this hard time to re-energize us and reaffirm how lucky we are to be doing this for a living,”

zebrahead will play Slamdunk Festival on 4th & 5th September 2021.

Starting with the release of theYellow EP on indie label Dr. Dream in 1998, the buzz began and zebrahead signed to major label Columbia before releasing their full-length debut, Waste Of My Mind. Their second album Playmate Of The Year hit in mid-2000 to rave reviews, of which the album's infectious title track garnered airplay on some of the planet's biggest alternative stations.

Stupid Fat Americans EP was released as a Japanese exclusive the next year. The band spent the summer of 2006 on the Vans Warped Tour, and Broadcast To The World was released, an album that went gold in Japan in just a month. In 2008 the band released Phoenix, and Panty Raid followed in 2009, followed by Get Nice in 2011, and Call Your Friends in 2013.

Throughout all that life threw at them, zebrahead’s touring raged on and the band continued to bring their explosive live show to festivals like Reading and Leeds, Download, Southside, Rock AM Ring/Park, Summersonic, Punkspring, Fuji Rock, Groezrock, Pukkelpop, SlamDunk, Sonisphere, Hurricane, Greenfield, NovaRock, Area 4 and Highfield, to name a few.

Since their incarnation zebrahead has shared highs and lows, sold over two million albums to date, survived label changes, and earned a Grammy nomination from a collaboration with Motörhead. As they get set to once again bring their distinctive fun-filled sound to the masses with a new member, new music and lots of touring, the future is bright for the band and their worldwide family of fans and friends.

zebrahead are:
Adrian Estrella - vocals
Ali Tabatabaee - rapper
Dan Palmer - guitars
Ben Osmundson - bass

Forgetting The Memories release new single / video 'From Soot'
Forgetting The Memories - Promo 1 - (credit Sebastian Gameel).jpg

'From Soot' video streaming now

New album Vemod out 24th September via Long Branch Records

Swedish metalcore five-piece Forgetting The Memories have released their new single 'From Soot', the third track taken from the album Vemod, out 24th September via Long Branch Records.

Watch the video for 'From Soot' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuNnl1kyFdk

Listen to 'From Soot' and pre-order Vemod here: http://smarturl.it/ftm_vemod

Forgetting The Memories comment on 'From Soot': "This song is about committing certain acts that can be the end of everything that you love. In this case, 'From Soot' is a story of a man who mistakenly burns down his home with his family still inside. In prison he's waiting for the end of his days, and he finally accepts death as his only way out so that he too, can be with his family once again."

Watch the video for previous single 'Mask Ov Lies' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7MH9cp7KTo

Forgetting the Memories combine intricate, headbangable rhythms with melodic choruses that will have you singing along in no time, constructing a unique blend of deathcore and metalcore that is unparalleled in complexity and intensity.

Monophobia, their first self-released full-length in 2016, was a sprawling labyrinth of ferocious, hard-pounding breakdowns and catchy choruses, peppered with meaningful lyrics detailing deeply personal journeys through issues like battling cancer, losing a friend, and heartbreak. The band continued on this path on their first release with their new label Long Branch Records. The EP Known Darkness was released in 2019 and featured six songs, further confirming the band's rapid growth and potential.

Now Vemod, the second LP from the five Swedes, is a clear further development of the already known trademarks of the band and thus comes across even more intense than its predecessors. The 10 tracks on the new album, which was mixed and mastered by Buster Odeholm (Vildhjarta, Humanity's Last Breath), are lyrically haunting and deal with personal setbacks, world-weariness, anger and melancholy or wistfulness (= "Vemod" in Swedish).

Over the years, Forgetting The Memories have remained true to their particular style, yet have constantly evolved and defined themselves as a truly essential force within the genre.

Forgetting the Memories are:

Bastian Kempe - Vocals
Gustav Holst - Guitars
Adrian Lyxell - Guitars
Lukas Löken Olsson - Bass & Vocals
Johan Blomberg - Drums

Dual bassist prog trio The Omnific release new single 'Scurryfunge'

Debut LP Escapades postponed to 8th October via Wild Thing Records

Melbourne progressive instrumental trio The Omnific - featuring the unique line-up of two bass players and a drummer - have released their new single, 'Scurryfunge', taken from their forthcoming debut record Escapades.

The Australian trio's debut LP Escapades will now be released 8th October, via Wild Thing Records, following ongoing Covid-19 related complications.

Drummer Jerome Lematua comments: “'Scurryfunge', true to its meaning, is a chaotic journey representing our many years growing as writers and as a band. Being one of the most collaborative songs to date, it mirrors the unpredictability of life. Transitioning from groovy bops, to fast paced crazy blast beats (an Omnific first), to all the way down to a mellow double bass solo (the next logical bass step).”

Escapades is the band’s most adventurous work to date, an instrumental mosaic that dances between the edges of progressive rock, djent, funk, nintendocore, and synth-driven electronic soundscapes, an aural experience akin to a journey to an alternate world through a dimension-hopping Tesla.

The album features a guest bassist performance from Clay Gober of Polyphia on the track 'Antecedent', with the record being brought to life by mixing engineer Adam Bentley (Felix Martin, Arch Echo), and mastering from Ermin Hamidovic (Periphery, Devin Townsend Band, Plini).

After releasing three stunning EPs the band have attracted interest and fans from all corners of the globe clocking in over 5 million Spotify streams and 2 million views on their Youtube channel. The Omnific’s accessible style is for all music lovers; from those seeking to be challenged to those who wish to be blanketed by atmosphere, creating an identifiable sound and diverse international fan base. With swirling textures, syncopation, euphoric highs and melancholic lows; The Omnific are truly captivating.

The band have established working relationships with reputable companies Darkglass Electronics, Neural DSP and Dingwall Guitars, seeing them represent the brands with performances at the Melbourne Guitar Show, bringing attention amongst the ‘Gear-Nerd’ community. Coupled with their online play-through, gear demo and music videos, the band’s reach is beyond what many would expect from this impressive Melbourne trio so early in their career.

They are also no stranger to the live circuit with a stack of domestic and international touring under their belt, having toured with Between the Buried and Me (Australian Tour) Cog (Sold Out Australian Tour), Intervals & Sithu Aye (European Tour), several of their own headline Australian tours as well as supporting Ne Obliviscaris, Galactic Empire, Circles and others.

Scottish Groove metallers From Sorrow To Serenity announce departure of vocalist Gaz King
unnamed (1).jpg

Vocal auditions open now

Vocalist Gaz King has announced he will be leaving the ranks of From Sorrow To Serenity.

The band shared a statement on his departure, commenting: "It is with great sadness we announce the departure of Gaz King from From Sorrow to Serenity. Following five fruitful years together, it has come time for Gaz to leave music behind and start a new life for himself. Given the state of the music industry and society at present, we empathise wholeheartedly, and take solace in the fact that there is no tension between us. We would like to thank Gaz for everything he has done for From Sorrow to Serenity, and we wish him the best going forward."

Gaz has enjoyed many years performing, recording, and laughing alongside band members Stephen, Andrew, and Ian, and his decision has not come lightly. He shares: "FSTS has been my life for the past five years, but now I think it's time I call it a day with music and focus on myself. Ever since joining FSTS, life seemed to go at a million miles an hour. The love and bond I have with these guys is through labours of blood, sweat, and tears, but also love, laughter, and commitment to each other."

He continues: "We've toured with so many amazing bands some we've looked up to as kids and some we've grown up with and developed a bond with. We've been all over the world and have survived countless difficult situations only to laugh about them the next. I'll miss the unique lifestyle for the rest of my days."

Following on from the announcement, From Sorrow To Serenity are now also seeking another vocalist and have released an online sign-up form for the search.

"We are now holding open auditions for our new singer. If you would like to submit an audition - please visit the following link, fill out the form & submit your audio/video audition! Further details and files required for the audition are provided in the form: https://forms.gle/kyuTgKmWKAbjLK7o8."

unnamed (2).jpg

Having scaled through the ranks since their inception, From Sorrow To Serenity released the highly acclaimed Antithesis EP in November 2013, following with multiple tours and individual shows across the UK, including an appearance at the UK Tech-Metal Fest main stage, as well as shows alongside Chelsea Grin, Veil of Maya, Bleed from Within, Stray From The Path and Heart Of A Coward. Support from every corner of the globe was gained by the release, and the Antithesis EP cycle culminated in the band being chosen by Impericon for their Next Generation Top 30 list.

FSTS entered the studio in January 2015 to record their long awaited debut full length album, Remnant of Humanity, recruiting world renowned producer Will Putney (Suicide Silence, Northlane, Thy Art Is Murder, The Acacia Strain and more) to mix and master the record. The record also featured guest vocal appearances from CJ McMahon (Thy Art Is Murder), Aaron Matts (Betraying The Martyrs) and Scott Kennedy (Bleed From Within).

The band went on to release their second LP Reclaim in 2019, with sold out tours with Jinjer, Heart of a Coward, and Fit For An Autopsy, and followed this with 2021's Trifecta EP.

Sugar Horse release live performance video of 'Phil Spector In Hell' single
SH press shot.jpg

'A sucker punch of sludge-punk' - Knotfest.com

The Live Long After released 27th August via Small Pond Records

Self-described 'decidedly average' Bristol rockers Sugar Horse have streamed a live performance video of their new single, 'Phil Spector In Hell', from their long-awaited debut LP, The Live Long After, to be released 27th August via Small Pond Records.

Watch the video, from Small Pond's Down Time sessions, here: https://youtu.be/ZDCeEqg-eCk

Pre-order The Live Long After here: https://link.smallpondrec.co.uk/sugar-horse

Lyrically based around the fear of the unknown, The Live Long After is a caustic, visceral, and highly engaging listen. From the uneasy opening notes of the introduction 'I Am Not Now' (an anti-hymn based on an ancient Byzantine chant), to 'Live Long' (a doom track about the endless void) and 'Death Cult', (which discusses Aleph, the Japanese doomsday movement), the record is an indication of a band bursting with things to say.

It's not for nothing that Sugar Horse have become known as a nonconformist band. Their previous EPs Druj and Drugs were acclaimed amalgams of doom, hardcore, stoner and punk, and The Live Long After continues this curious trend.

Indications of My Bloody Valentine, Cult of Luna, Deafheaven and Oceansize can be heard throughout the record, but still only touch upon the wide variety of sounds and influences Sugar Horse explore. A band who were due to tour with Black Peaks before the inevitable Covid disruption, and who have toured with Vennart and played ArcTanGent, Sugar Horse have received early praise from Upset Magazine, Metal Hammer, and Kerrang!.

Forming in 2015 as a trio in a flat in Bristol, Sugar Horse fully came into being in 2019 with the addition of Jake Healy on baritone guitar and keyboards. Seeking to break away from emerging trends in their scene, the band's emphasis on simplicity and down-tempo heft belies an impressive sense of self-awareness and maturity. In their own words: "I think the best art is formed when it's creators enforce rigid rules on themselves. Mondrian had geometry, Mark E Smith had his hatred for cigarette taxation and we have a complete disregard for urgency."

Despite what they say about themselves, Sugar Horse are anything but "average."

Sugar Horse are:

Ashley Tubb (Vocals/Guitar)
Jake Healy (Baritone Guitar, Keyboards)
Chris Howarth (Bass)
Martin Savage (Drums)
