Melodic metalcore outfit Placeholder have returned with their first single, 'Faith', featuring new vocalist, Lee Male.

Watch the video for 'Faith' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiLqhaf7zSM

Stream/purchase 'Faith' here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/placeholder/faith

‘Faith’ explores the emotional stress of needing your loved ones when you’re struggling with the weight of the world; how one person’s kind words or ‘check in’ can feel like the most important message you have ever received.

On 'Faith', Male states: "'Faith' is the product of pushing through and persevering. I started speaking to the guys in the first lockdown and we had planned on getting into a room together and seeing how my voice sat within their new demo’s. Six months later we were in a studio recording our first single having never actually played live together. This was a very different approach to creativity, writing and demoing everything remotely. That being said, hearing it come together in the studio was massively rewarding but a world away from our roots of practice room writing / demoing for months, but we managed to turn that slight bump in the road into a massive positive and are all so proud of how ‘Faith’ sounds. Hopefully ‘Faith’ will help you realise that no matter how heavy your burden, opening up and talking about it will always help."

Placeholder are a four-piece melodic metalcore band from Southampton, influenced by the likes of ThornhillNorthlane, and Dayseeker. Having re-formed with a new vocalist in March 2020, ‘Faith’ is the creation of months of anxiety and frustration trying to function as a band during a pandemic. Given the circumstances, Placeholder have created diamonds out of sand and are making their own opportunities to bring their melodic metalcore sound to the masses.

Sugar Horse release new single 'Shouting Judas At Bob Dylan'

'A sucker punch of sludge-punk' - Knotfest.com

The Live Long After released 27th August via Small Pond Records

Self-described 'decidedly average' Bristol rockers Sugar Horse have released their new single 'Shouting Judas At Bob Dylan', taken from their long-awaited debut LP, The Live Long After, to be released 27th August via Small Pond Records.

Stream here: http://listen.smallpondrec.com/bob-dylan

Pre-order The Live Long After here: https://link.smallpondrec.co.uk/sugar-horse

Lyrically based around the fear of the unknown, The Live Long After is a caustic, visceral, and highly engaging listen. From the uneasy opening notes of the introduction 'I Am Not Now' (an anti-hymn based on an ancient Byzantine chant), to 'Live Long' (a doom track about the endless void) and 'Death Cult', (which discusses Aleph, the Japanese doomsday movement), the record is an indication of a band bursting with things to say.

It's not for nothing that Sugar Horse have become known as a nonconformist band. Their previous EPs Druj and Drugs were acclaimed amalgams of doom, hardcore, stoner and punk, and The Live Long After continues this curious trend.

Indications of My Bloody Valentine, Cult of Luna, Deafheaven and Oceansize can be heard throughout the record, but still only touch upon the wide variety of sounds and influences Sugar Horse explore. A band who were due to tour with Black Peaks before the inevitable Covid disruption, and who have toured with Vennart and played ArcTanGent, Sugar Horse have received early praise from Upset Magazine, Metal Hammer, and Kerrang!.

Forming in 2015 as a trio in a flat in Bristol, Sugar Horse fully came into being in 2019 with the addition of Jake Healy on baritone guitar and keyboards. Seeking to break away from emerging trends in their scene, the band's emphasis on simplicity and down-tempo heft belies an impressive sense of self-awareness and maturity. In their own words: "I think the best art is formed when it's creators enforce rigid rules on themselves. Mondrian had geometry, Mark E Smith had his hatred for cigarette taxation and we have a complete disregard for urgency."

Despite what they say about themselves, Sugar Horse are anything but "average."

Sugar Horse are:

Ashley Tubb (Vocals/Guitar)
Jake Healy (Baritone Guitar, Keyboards)
Chris Howarth (Bass)
Martin Savage (Drums)

BAILER release gut-punching new single 'Gateway Drug'
Bailer PR Photo Resize.jpg

New single comes ahead of their Bloodstock Festival performance this weekend

“They’re a band that already sound so colossal, they could probably beat Magneto in a fight.”
Alex Baker, Kerrang! Radio Fresh Blood

Irish metallic hardcore outfit BAILER mark their return with a video for their gut-punching new single 'Gateway Drug', out today (11th August 2021) via Blood Blast Distribution. The track is the first taste of the band's upcoming debut album, due for release later this year.

Watch the music video for 'Gateway Drug' here: https://youtu.be/TEbhGEPMavc
Stream 'Gateway Drug' here: https://bfan.link/gatewaydrug

On the new single, vocalist Alex O'Leary states: "The root of addiction is misery. I feel like if misery was a drug, it'd be the gateway drug to a life consumed by addiction for those who may be exposed to it too often or too early. This song highlights the acceptance that there might be no escape from suffering, but it's not the problems you face, its all about how you deal with them. That's what matters."

Following on from 2018's self-titled EP (Distroy Records), 2017’s 'PTSD' and 2016’s 'Shaped By The Landscape', BAILER’s ambitious collection of tracks is about to expand and truly propel their notoriety outside of their native Ireland.

Having impressively garnered attention from Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Metal Injection and Heavy Blog Is Heavy so early into their career, BAILER have proven to be Ireland's most exhilarating heavy band. Now with their debut album on the horizon, the quartet are setting their sights on becoming one of hardcore's most exciting prospects.

BAILER have already a strong reputation on their home ground, playing shows alongside Norma Jean, Sick Of It All, The Black Dahlia Murder, Conjurer, Employed To Serve, Palm Reader, Malevolence, God Mother, Coilguns and more.

2018 and 2019 saw the band start to mark their territory further afield, having successfully toured Russia and the UK extensively in support of their self-titled EP. In 2021, BAILER are eager to get back on international stages to launch the new era of the band. Starting with Bloodstock Festival in August, expect to hear a lot more from BAILER over the coming months.

Authority Through Intimidation album out 22nd October via Unique Leader

'Human Chop Shop' streaming now

US death metal kingpins Waking The Cadaver return with new single and graphic video 'Human Chop Shop', taken from their forthcoming album, Authority Through Intimidation, out 22nd October 2021 via Unique Leader.

Watch the video to 'Human Chop Shop' here: https://youtu.be/T2iPOaEasv0

The band comment: "We are very excited for our fans to hear our next single 'Human Chop Shop'!! It is definitely one of our favorite tracks on the new album because it encompasses everything Waking the Cadaver sets out to do, which is creating hardcore-influenced brutal death metal with catchy hooks. Human Chop Shop is predominately a mid-paced jam with a ton of groove, but don’t let that fool you, Authority Through Intimidation is chock-full of blasting brutality as well. We are beyond stoked to unleash this monster of an album October 22nd to show the world how far we’ve come as a band."

Pre-order/save Authority Through Intimidation here: Orcd.co/authoritythroughintimidation

Waking the Cadaver are an American death metal band from Jersey Shore, New Jersey, formed in 2006. The quartet grew to become one of the most exciting bands in the US underground, touring with the likes of Napalm Death and Immolation, and releasing three albums within a six-year span; Perverse Recollections of a Necromangler (2007), Beyond Cops, Beyond God (2010) and Real-Life Death (2013). Their live shows became somewhat legendary for their brutality and power.

Following a huge tour in 2013 with Dying Fetus, Exhumed, and Abiotic, Waking the Cadaver went on hiatus, but returned in 2018 with fresh sound and new line-up, with only vocalist Don Campan and guitarist Michael Mayo remaining. Now signed to Unique Leader Records and armed with their phenomenal new album Authority Through Intimidation, Waking the Cadaver are ready to reclaim their crowns as the kingpins of death.

Guitarist Mike Mayo commented on the new album: "I believe Authority Through Intimidation is the definitive Waking the Cadaver album. Our mission statement for writing it was SLAMMING GORE GROOVE. That’s been our slogan since the beginning and I think this collection of songs exemplifies its meaning more than any of our previous albums. We really wanted to level up the technicality and song writing of Real-Life Death, while also having more nods to our first album Perverse Recollections of a Necromangler. I think we succeeded in doing just that. Listeners will be able to hear our love for bands like Dying Fetus, Last Days of Humanity, and Disgorge, as well as our love for early Hatebreed and All Out War.”

Produced by AJ Viana (Cognitive, Through the Eyes of the Dead), Authority Through Intimidation hits harder than a hammer to the head and takes no prisoners with its polished but powerful live production.

Vocalist Don Campan commented: "I am extremely proud of Authority Through Intimidation for the intensely disgusting brutal vibe it has casted out into the Universe and beyond. Slamming gore groove has been summoned by its worldwide fans and they will not be let down. This album has all of our infamous alien guttural overlord vocal styles and raw signature slam dunks, with wicked fresh ferocious shredding attacks delivered from a musical-masterminded line up. The Kingpins of Death are stoked and proud to have the one and only next level blasting machine Lord Marco on drums giving this new material a cutting edge injection."

Belgium shoegazers Slow Crush announce new album Hush and release title track

Hush due 22nd October via Church Road Records

'Hush' streaming now

Hush is the gloomy & dreamy second album by Belgium based and internationally celebrated shoegazers Slow Crush. Out 22nd October via Church Road Records.

Check out the single for title track here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVt4NfPDiu8

Hush is the result of songs written in between tours, unexpected downtime during a pandemic and turbulent times. At the end of 2020, focus was shifted towards finishing their second album and this resulted in an album with stark contrast. Some of their darkest but hope filled music to date was recorded.

Radiating moonlit warmth through a haze of abrasive whirling layered guitars and soul soothing vocals by Isa Holliday, the lull of wistful longing and tranquil bearing, contrasting cascading echoes of beautiful noise surpassing their highly acclaimed debut album Aurora in both song writing and musicianship.

After touring pretty much non stop all over the world from the end 2018 til January 2020 including tours with bands like Pelican, Torche, Soft Kill, Gouge Away and playing festivals like Road Burn, Arctangent, 2000Trees, and Groez Rock, Slow Crush was forced to take a touring break when Covid-19 hit.

Having to cancel two European tours and one US tour last minute was actually a blessing in disguise, allowing the band to regroup & rethink. Despite the lack of live shows, 2020-2021 was anything but “calm” for the band. Unexpected success of their debut album Aurora and the impact that heavy touring had already taken on their private lives was intensified with the departure of two band members and the need to scout for their perfect replacements.

Slow Crush have announced their European tour dates, and UK dates are yet to be announced.

Finnish metalcore quintet Atlas release new single 'VERI'

UKKO album due for release 22nd October 2021 via Long Branch Records

Finnish metalcore quintet Atlas release new single 'VERI', from the upcoming album UKKO, due for release on 22nd October 2021 via Long Branch Records.

Watch the video for 'VERI' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaniaOGKeQ0

The heaviest music Atlas have ever written, 'VERI' is Finnish for 'blood', and documents the journey of healing and letting go.

Guitarist Tuomas Kurikka comments:

"'VERI' is one of the most dynamic songs from the upcoming album with so many different genres and influences mixed together. A true sacrifice for the northern gods."

Stream 'VERI' and pre-order the album here: https://smarturl.it/atlas_ukko

Atlas are a five-piece modern metalcore band from Tampere, Finland labelling themselves as 'Northcore'. The quintet's sound combines mammoth riffs and gloomy soundscapes, that draw inspiration from the cold of the North. Their releases include 2016 EP Northern Lights, 2018 standalone singles 'Birthright' and 'The Catalyst' and debut full-length Primitive, as well as their 2019 single trilogy.

The quintet explore a new sonic palette on their second album UKKO, drawing inspiration from Finnish folk music and poetry, combined with the dark soundscapes and dynamic songwriting the band have become known for. Lyrically and thematically, UKKO explores themes of death, healing, rebirth and faith, presented in a seamlessly blended mix of English and Finnish. UKKO was mixed and mastered by Buster Odeholm (Vildhjarta, Oceano, Humanity's Last Breath, Born of Osiris), who brought his unique approach and sound to the album.

Atlas have played throughout Europe with the likes of Monuments, Miss May I, VOLA, Kadinja, Adept, Eskimo Callboy, One Morning Left and We Butter The Bread With Butter. Their debut album Primitive climbed the Finnish album charts to number six and came to life on a European tour with Monuments, receiving praise from fans and critics alike.

Global metal stars Alien Weaponry release new fan-driven single 'Buried Underground'
P1038754.jpg

Alien Weaponry head out on the road alongside Gojira and Employed To Serve in 2022

New album Tangaroa due 17th September via Napalm Records

International metal stars Alien Weaponry have returned with the second single, 'Buried Underground', from upcoming release Tangaroa, out 17th September 2021 via Napalm Records.

Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BE2OPJFccQM

The band united international fans in lockdown by asking them to submit a video of themselves performing a signature 'stomp' and star in the official 'Buried Underground' music video. Those not included in the video will still have the chance to have their 'stomp' shared with fans worldwide, by hashtagging #AWburiedunderground and tagging the band to be featured on Alien Weaponry's social media.

Since releasing their acclaimed debut (2018), the New Zealanders’ kinetic presence and sound – combining elements of thrash and groove metal with lyrics in the native indigenous language, te reo Māori — has attracted throngs of fans and media supporters across the globe. As with their 2018 single 'Kai Tangata' – which has amassed more than 10 million views on YouTube and claimed the number-one spot on SiriusXM Liquid Metal’s “Devil’s Dozen” for 13 consecutive weeks – much of Tangaroa is immersed in the historical stories and cultural heritage of the Māori people.

In addition, Tangaroa details stories of personal struggle and growth, as well as crucial environmentalism topics.

Having achieved past and present tours and festivals with the likes of Slayer, Black Label Society and Gojira, and being hailed the “future of metal” by esteemed magazine Metal Hammer (UK) and voted by Revolver Magazine (US) fans as “one of the bands most likely to break out in 2021”, Alien Weaponry are poised to dominate with Tangaroa. The album coalesces Alien Weaponry's growing maturation with an undisturbed songwriting process, resulting in their most inspired, honest and informed material yet.

In addition to lyrics written in te reo Māori, many tracks feature traditional instruments, called taonga puoro, providing the tracks their own warrior-like attitude. Rhythmic, dynamic album opener 'Titokowaru' begins with determined rowing chants and depicts the tale of a famous war chief that challenged the colonial government in New Zealand and led a rebel army, backed by quick riffage and driving drums. Following standout 'Hatupatu', inspired by the harrowing, legendary tale of a de Jong ancestor facing off with a witch, is carried by frenzied guitars, spirited chanting and tribal-like percussion. While Alien Weaponry sourced inspiration from their culture and environmental surroundings while writing most of Tangaroa, the band also looked inward – drawing vision for other portions of the album from within. The album dives into some of their most effecting personal experiences, with English-language songs like the pensive 'Unforgiving' about facing self-loathing and insecurity, and the swirling, charging 'Buried Underground' detailing the aftershocks of drug abuse.

Accented by personal touches like its entrancing album art originally conceptualized from drawings by Lewis de Jong, Tangaroa is a massive next step for a band on the rise, encompassing all of the elements that make Alien Weaponry heavy metal’s most authentic rising stars.

Henry de Jong says about Tangaroa:
“The album is tied together with the message of ‘Tangaroa’ - the whole album is more a snapshot of the band’s brains during the writing process. We have also written songs that are about some of our first tūpuna (ancestors) who were here in Āotearoa (New Zealand). Hatupatu, who is very famous in Māori history, as well as Īhenga, who named a number of places in Āotearoa during his travels.”

Lewis de Jong adds about the album’s artwork and thematic details:
“The album is named after the track ‘Tangaroa’, and we went with this theme on the artwork. The album is drawn from some new experiences we've had as well as some ancient Māori tales. I think we have stepped things up from the last album.”

Bassist Tūranga Morgan-Edmonds also adds:
"This album's use of even more traditional Māori sounds and styles is a very exciting step forward for us."

Tangaroa tracklisting: 1. Titokowaru 2. Hatupatu 3. Ahi Kā 4. Tangaroa 5. Unforgiving 6. Blinded 7. Kai Whatu 8. Crooked Monsters 9. Buried Underground 10. Dad 11. Īhenga 12. Down The Rabbit Hole

Resolve release video for new single 'Emerald Skies' and announce debut album
Resolve -New 2021 (to use).jpg

Between Me and The Machine due 26th November

On the new single, the band state: "It truly feels incredible to finally unveil our new single 'Emerald Skies' along with the announcement of our debut album Between Me and The Machine. It’s been quite the journey to get to this point, but now we feel like we’re readier than ever to show the world the full scope of Resolve.

"We don’t get to say this too often but it is 100% the heaviest track we’ve ever written. Massive riff after massive riff, it’s as relentless as it is haunting. The music video is also quite a step up for us, we wanted to experiment with a more cinematic video for a while and this track was the perfect moment to do it. We all pushed our DIY abilities to a whole new level for this one, and our director
Aurélien Mariat has outdone himself once again."

Resolve are a band that have been savouring every second of their journey so far and biding their time - observing, learning, building - and making sure that every single aspect of how they’ve wanted the band to function was fully realised before delivering it to the world.

Starting their journey back in 2016 after their previous projects parted ways and their intentions set on this being their forever band, vocalist Anthony Diliberto, bassist Robin Mariat and drummer Nathan Mariat have spent the last half a decade tinkering with the formula that feels the most suited to them. Making their first mark in 2017 with debut EP Reverie, before following with standalone single ‘Carmela’ in 2018, it wasn’t until 2019 that they felt truly at home in their sound.

That was in the form of Pendulum, a collection of three songs that not only represented the beautifully bludgeoning and densely expansive sound that was resting in the back of their heads, but also found them appearing on Spotify’s New Core, New Metal Tracks and Kickass Metal playlists.

Now is their time to show you what they have been working on - and it is quite the spectacle.

Resolve will support LANDMVRKS on their upcoming UK/European tour, joined by Glassbone.
