New metal group HERIOT have released their surprise cover of Machine Head's iconic 'Ten Ton Hammer'.

Stream here: https://smarturl.it/ndk12x

Watch: https://youtu.be/qgStuy5r0KQ

The band comment: "Amidst writing and recording new material earlier this year, this cover came to be. As fans of Machine Head, we thought it would be a great opportunity to honour a band who have not only influenced us, but who have been at the forefront of the scene for many years."

HERIOT are one of the UK's most exciting, vicious, visceral new metal groups, having made their mark with the titanic singles 'Dispirit', 'Recreant' and 'Cleansed Existence' and signing with Church Road Records.

HERIOT are a triumphant new group, fully-focused and with a razor-sharp edge. Now a fourpiece with the addition of guitarist/vocalist Debbie Gough, the group have already started to turn heads in the UK metal scene and beyond. Weaponising metallic sludge and hardcore with their terrifying singles, HERIOT have caught the attention of Rock Sound, Kerrang!, Revolver, and Knotfest, among many others. Elements of Nails, Knocked Loose, Code Orange, and Vein combine to create a new sound that is truly groundbreaking and fully worthy of the notice the band are achieving. Acclaimed by Revolver as "one of the most promising young bands in modern metalcore", HERIOT will be supporting Svalbard across the UK in November.

Finnish rockers Face The Legacy release new single / video 'Hear Us Out'

Finnish rock quartet Face The Legacy have released their new single 'Hear Us Out' via Out Of Line Music.

Stream 'Hear Us Out' here: https://facethelegacy.lnk.to/HearUsOut

Watch the music video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZ_1sUD1a9c

Vocalist and guitarist Niklas Lindeman comments on the new single: "The lyrics tell about anger and frustration about super annoying people who do not show any sign of empathy towards others. Emotions unraveled on this one for sure".

Guitarist Elias Suhonen continues: "To me, these lyrics are something I would love to say to a person who, as an individual, does damage to a certain group of people. Leadership, in my opinion, is what brings the worst or the best out of people. I feel like the overall feel of the song is something many people can relate to, even when they are not connected to the stories behind the lyrics."

The music video for the single is a reflection into the topic of the song, produced and directed by Teemu Myöhänen. "Seeing the video can satisfy you with karma, since you can see the "bad side" getting its payment," explains the band. "It was natural to work with Teemu again since he did such a great job in our last single and video of 'Ashes on the Ground'. Also, we feel like his image of our band is in hand with how we see ourselves as a musical group. We can't wait for everybody to see this video since it's going to be kickass!"

Check out the music video for previous single 'Ashes On The Ground' here: https://bit.ly/3awkZVQ

Guitarist Elias Suhonen gives an insight into the sound of the upcoming debut album: "We'd say it creates a dark, angry and inspirational atmosphere. Themes for the songs come from very personal experiences, from issues we've faced and that we wanted to make a difference in," adds Niklas.

Each band member brings particular effort to their music from various musical backgrounds to create Face The Legacy. There are many influences from many genres in their music: elements of '80s hard rock and '90s grunge, and also '90s and present-day rock music. Face The Legacy have been touring since 2017, including shows before even releasing any music. The band have already played around 60 gigs, a couple of Finnish tours, including performances from Helsinki to the North of Lapland, all entirely DIY.

From Jyväskylä, Finland, Face The Legacy started as a hard rock band. Over the years, the band developed into a mix of heavier riffing with melodic leads - inspired from the '80s and '90s, showing their way of writing and performing. The band is already known in their home country for their energetic live performance, hard-punching innovative riffs, and their very memorable melodies which will get stuck in your head for a long time - yet always sounding new and fresh.

French metallers Betraying the Martyrs unveil new frontman with new single

Band announce their signing to Out Of Line Music

'Black Hole' streaming now via Out Of Line Music

Betraying the Martyrs have announced their brand new frontman Rui Martins and release new single / video 'Black Hole', out now via new label Out Of Line Music.

Check out the video for 'Black Hole' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fV85Fz--rQw

Stream/purchase 'Black Hole' here: https://betrayingthemartyrs.lnk.to/blackhole

'Black Hole' is the first piece of new music the band offer after their critically acclaimed 2019 album, Rapture, showcasing their new lineup and welcoming Rui Martins as their new frontman.

This brand new song depicts how a toxic relationship can imprison and deceive someone, eventually going through all the phases that one usually has to go through, to realise what is wrong and finally be set free. It doesn't matter how hard one tries if the other person is unwilling to improve themselves and their mutual relationship. To suffer is to learn, but to also kill a part of us. The protagonist is reborn at the end, but he paid a high price, and the scars are visible.

About the band's philosophy and how Rui contributes to the musical work of Betraying The Martyrs, the band make clear: "We DEFINITELY upgraded to BTM 2.0! Most of us are perfectionists about our own art, so we're super stoked and excited to have people's opinion and reactions about this new track. We're well aware that changing the frontman can be a little tricky sometimes (even if bands like Northlane, Chelsea Grin, and Lorna Shore showed us that it could be very successful,) but we're very confident Rui's the perfect fit, and we hope people will welcome our new recruit with open arms and show him the support he deserves. Rui's abilities will definitely take things to a whole new level, as he has a great approach for both the heavy side and the more melodic part of our songwriting.

"Rui knows perfectly what BTM was and also is now in 2021. He has a great vision of what BTM fans expect and also where we want to go. Rui is bringing a lot of great ideas for his vocals, lyric-wise, melody-wise...and his vocal range is incredible: he can go from super heavy guttural screams to high pitched beautiful clean vocals; it's a real pleasure to be able to work with someone so talented, and we're definitely planning on using his range to its maximum potential to serve BTM's upcoming music."

On the new signing to Out Of Line Music, the band comment: "It was such a welcomed change for us. OOL is a German label, and Germany has always been our second home country as we've toured so much over there. We connected instantly with André; he is a day-one fan of our band, and he instantly understood what we wanted and needed to do to push our band further. We really feel loved and supported, and it is such a good feeling to be working with a new dedicated team."

Betraying The Martyrs have plenty more ammunition in the barrel and are ready to ignite the BTM machine again in 2022, stay tuned for more incoming news.

Hardcore punks TORCHBEARER release new single 'Frostbite'
unnamed.jpg

Hardcore punks Torchbearer return with their thumping new single 'Frostbite'.

Watch here: https://youtu.be/tTOQR54crUU

The band comment of the single: "This song is about being drawn to the peace that solitude offers, despite the pain of loneliness. The song tells a story of walking in frozen tundras and frostbite taking hold. This is a metaphor for accepting solitude by walking down the path of isolation until you feel numb to the pain of loneliness, as if your senses have been numbed by the cold."

Produced by Charlie Wilson (TRC, Counting Days) the new single is a snapshot into Torchbearer's ethos and approach. A band with a message, their new material discusses racial prejudice, police brutality, corruption, confinement and mental health. Victims are not alone - Torchbearer are heavy, for heavy times.

Torchbearer have toured alongside Mountain Caller, High Hopes, The Amsterdam Red Light District, Yards and From Eden To Exile, and shared stages with Battalions, Rough Hands and more.

Blood Music announces the release of VirtuaVerse on XBox, Playstation and Switch
VirtuaVerse_desk_1920x1080.png

Graphics by Valenberg (Perturbator, Gost); music & story by MASTER BOOT RECORD

Released 28th October on all major consoles via Blood Music

Blood Music has announced the release of video game VirtuaVerse, the first game by the company to receive a major console release, on 28th October. A throw back to the classic point and click style, VirtuaVerse features graphics by Valenberg (Perturbator, Gost), this follows the game's highly sucessful PC release in 2020.

Watch the promo video here: https://youtu.be/dt1dUvycNWk

Music and storyline by MASTER BOOT RECORD and coding by Elder0010, Virtuaverse was a four year development process to release on PC and another two years to go to console.

Producer J of Blood Music commented: "VirtuaVerse is a throwback to the point-and-click adventure games we played and loved growing up. The game took four years to create with a tiny, three-person development team and myself as producer/publisher. It was our first foray into gaming and a true labor of love. A year-and-a-half after a successful PC launch, I'm beyond thrilled to announce that we're fulfilling our childhood fantasies of releasing a game on the major consoles."

MASTER BOOT RECORD commented: "VirtuaVerse is a project we started for our love of old school point & click adventures of the 90s, a gaming experience we wanted to bring back in all its glory. On the other hand, it's a project that represents our team artistically not only for the visual and musical side but also the coding since it's full of references to demoscene as well as being a tribute to underground computer culture as a whole. We are really excited because we didn't expect this project to grow to a point where we're releasing it on all consoles. It's a great satisfaction for a team of 3 people at their first game and it's a big achievement for all of us."

One morning, Nathan wakes to an empty apartment and discovers a cryptic message on the bathroom mirror. Having accidentally broken his headset, Nathan is disconnected but determined to figure out what happened to Jay. Vomit The Soul release their first ever video for new heavy-hitting single

'The Lost Aurea' video streaming now

Cold album out 12th November via Unique Leader Records

Italian brutal death metallers Vomit the Soul have unveiled their heavy-hitting new track, 'The Lost Aurea', featuring an accompanying music video that includes the band for the first time ever. This is the second single to be released from their new album Cold, due out on 12th November via Unique Leader.

Pre-order Cold here: https://orcd.co/vtscold

On the new single, bassist Stefano Rossi Ciucci comments: "'The Lost Aurea' is the most direct, slamming and groovy song from the new album. It's 100% Vomit the Soul. The pathological and obscure guitar riffing gives the right mood and represents the Apostles working for the macabre ritual, annihilating every rebellion of the wandering souls. In this moment, the Apostles suck their souls to create devoted slaves."

Speaking about the live performance music video that accompanies the track, Stefano continues: "This is our first videoclip ever. We decided to create a raw and visceral live session vibe that represents our mood and attitude! We love to be on stage and we can’t wait to plan out our live sets. A special mention goes to Maurizio Del Piccolo of Moviedel Italia Productions, our videographer. He did an awesome job and it came out really great!"

Born in 2000, Vomit The Soul is the final product of an idea conjured up by three friends fascinated by everything concerning death metal.

With two EPs, one live album and many shows with the likes of Cripple Bastards, Genital Grinder and many more under their belts, the band inked a deal with NC based label Comatose Music for the release of their debut full length; Portraits of Inhuman Abominations.

Reactions from listeners for Portraits of Inhumane Abominations were positive, earning them a strong following from extreme music fans and media worldwide. In support of the record, Vomit the Soul were invited to play some international death metal festivals like Ludwigshafen Deathfest, Neurotic Deathfest, Insane Insanity Deathfest, Undergrind Freakfest II, and shared the stage with bands from the likes of Necrophagist, Arsebreed, Impure, Gorerotted, Psycroptic, Insidious Decrepancy, Prostitute Disfigurement, Godless Truth, Napalm Death, and Carnal Decay.

Vomit The Soul's style soon evolved into something more complete, personal, groove-oriented, and more aggressive than ever. In 2008, the band completed recording their second album Apostles of Inexpression at 16th Cellar Studios in Rome. In the same year the band parted ways with Comatose Music and instead started their new journey with Unique Leader Records, releasing Apostles of Inexpression in 2009. Splitting up soon after the release, 2020 saw the band reunite with a new bassist: Stefano Rossi Ciucci (Bloodtruth, Instigate).

The band began writing a fresh album to mark Vomit The Soul's new era, titled Cold. The nine-track behemoth was mixed and mastered by the Italian sound sorcerer Stefano Morabito (Hour Of Penance, Eyeconoclast, Unfathomable Ruination, Bloodtruth), and bears the sinister artwork of the illustration master Caelan Stokkermas. The release comes as Vomit The Soul's first new material in 10 years and Unique Leader Records will release Cold on 12th November 2021.

Metal quartet Arkdown release video for new single 'Badlands'

New record Terra Phasma out 3rd December 2021

UK metal quartet Arkdown have released a video for their pummelling new single 'Badlands'. The track offers another glimpse of the band's upcoming record Terra Phasma, due for release on 3rd December 2021.

Check out the video for 'Badlands' here: https://youtu.be/IZrKlpUAtMQ

Stream 'Badlands' here: https://ffm.to/badlands

The band explain the meaning behind the new single:

"'Badlands' is very much a song about falling out of love and growing apart from someone. I took a lot of influence from one of my favourite lyricists, Tom Weaver, of the band Casey when I was writing this. We've all been through relationships that have gone sour. Similar to the first single we put out, 'Harbingers', 'Badlands' is my way of saying there's no hard feelings, I'm over it, I'm happy where I am. Music is something in the toolboxes of many people when it comes to dealing with their issues and I'm no exception. If someone is experiencing what I'm talking about in my lyrics I'd like to think that it'll give them solace in the idea that they aren't alone."

Arkdown have also announced a hometown Terra Phasma release show, set to take place on 3rd December at Corporation in Sheffield. The show is Arkdown's first since March 2020 and marks vocalist Joe Hallam's debut performance with the band.

Tickets are on sale here: https://www.corporation.org.uk/gig/2540

Arkdown are a four-piece metal band from Sheffield, UK. Formed in late 2015, the quartet draw heavily on modern metalcore and death metal influences, framed by their signature melodic, yet heavy, riff-based style.

Self-releasing their single 'In Torment' and their debut EP The Calling whilst touring the length of UK, Arkdown have supported a glut of heavy hitters in the scene, from Fit For An Autopsy and Oceans Ate Alaska, to Kingdom of Giants and A Night in Texas.

With the release of their second standalone single 'Miasmic', Arkdown's sound matured and extended their reach, as they broke out of the UK to play shows in mainland Europe - before COVID-19 put on the brakes. Arkdown spent that time refining their line-up and sound before working on their upcoming record, Terra Phasma.

Instrumental psych/stoner trio Kanaan release new single

'Pink Riff' streaming now

New album Earthbound released 12th November via Jansen Records

Instrumental stoner psych trio Kanaan have revealed their new single 'Pink Riff', taken from their brilliant new record Earthbound, released 12th November via Jansen Records.

Watch the video to 'Pink Riff' here: https://youtu.be/i81lSV5oVds

Stream: https://jansenrecords.com/s/pinkriff

Recorded live in Amper Tone Studio, the video is a perfect encapsulation and insight into the scintillating trio's creative process.

Emerging from an ocean of fuzz like a Kyuss that went to jazz school, power trio Kanaan return with their fourth studio album in as many years.

Earthbound will be released 12th November via Jansen Records – a change in direction for the still-young group. Where Kanaan’s former albums have been jazzy and psychedelic explorations, with forays into kraut and free improvisation, the new album Earthbound comes at you heavier than a ton of bricks. The heavier Kanaan bear elements of the best of stoner rock, psych and sludge.

Inspired by bands such as Colour Haze, Hawkwind, Elder, Motorpsycho and Acid Mothers Temple, Earthbound serves up plenty of surprising twists and turns, beautiful and mellow passages and masterful musicianship. Although never flashy, the whole album is a showcase of the three wildly talented musicians as they plough their way through enormous riffs and thunderous grooves.

Searching to perfect their hybrid of heavy rock and psychedelic jazz influences, the band isolated themselves in Halden's Athletic Sound studios, working day and night to accomplish what became Earthbound, a quantum leap for their sound in terms of sheer heaviness and psychedelic extravaganza compared to their previous albums.

Kanaan are:

Ask Vatn Strøm - guitars, percussion, oscillations
Ingvald André Vassbø - drums, percussion, speed Farfisa
Eskild Myrvoll - bass, synths, Mellotron, guitar

Demonstealer announces new EP The Holocene Termination
Demonstealer-HighRes.jpg

Released 3rd December via Demonstealer Records

Guest appearances from members of Fleshgod Apocalypse, The Amenta, Six Feet Under and more

Frontman of Demonic Resurrection

Sahil Makhija, better known as Demonstealer, has long been one of the pillars of the heavy metal scene in India. From being at the vanguard of a fledgling metal scene to becoming one of its most visible and respected proponents today, Demonstealer is integral to the growth of the Indian metal community.

He now returns, with his brilliant new EP The Holocene Termination, released 3rd December via Demonstealer Records. The release, featuring a stellar cast of guest musicians, is another entry in an astonishingly vital and storied carrier.

Pre-order: Demonstealer.Bandcamp.com (International) and Redwolf.in/Demonstealer (India)
View the teaser: https://youtu.be/_qGu5sD83dE

In 2000, Demonstealer formed Demonic Resurrection, one of India’s best known and biggest metal bands. Over the last two decades the band has become one of the most recognizable faces of Indian metal, nationally and internationally. Also in 2000 he established India’s first recording studio dedicated solely to metal - a home to all of the country's top metal bands.

Five years later he launched Demonstealer Records – India’s first metal record label. The roster included the best in India’s burgeoning metal scene, and licensed internationally renowned acts, including Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir. Demonstealer also founded and ran Resurrection Festival, alongside Demonic Resurrection bassist Husain Bandukwala. For years it was India’s only dedicated extreme metal festival. Needless to say, Demonstealer’s impact on the national scene cannot be overstated.

Aside from the success of Demonic Resurrection (5 studio albums, Metal Hammer Golden God award, multiple tours and festivals across UK and Europe), Demonstealer’s solo career is notable. From his debut album And Chaos Will Reign (2008) to 2021’s The Holocene Termination, Sahil has been blazing a thunderous solo trail.

Occasionally however, even a tireless musician like Demonstealer must call in outside forces. The guest appearances on The Holocene Termination are highly impressive, including Eugene Ryabchenko (Fleshgod Apocalypse), Anton Zhikharev (Gorgasm), Simon Schilling (Marduk), Robin Stone (The Amenta, Norse), and Jeff Hughell (Six Feet Under).

The range of talent on display is undeniable – all contributing to a thrilling near-20 minute ride from a highly significant musician.
