"piercing melody and crushing brutality" - Rock Sound

Resolve have released a video for their captivating new single 'D.G.G.R.S'. The track is the fifth single from the band's forthcoming debut album Between Me and The Machine, due for release on 26th November 2021 via Arising Empire.

Bassist Robin Mariat comments on the new single:

"'D.G.G.R.S' is very much the party song on the album. It came towards the very end of the writing process, and it’s one of the few that was created by the three of us in the same room. I remember Nathan (drummer) jumping up and down in the studio as if he was at a show to figure out the right tempo for the track - 116bpm, if you really want to know!

"Lyrically though, it’s quite the opposite: 'D.G.G.R.S' is us giving a big middle finger toward those who won’t be around to suffer the consequences of their actions on our dying planet. But notice the use of the first person plural within the lyrics: we’re all part of the problem to a degree, and we should be praising those who strive to do better instead of getting lost in silly debates about who’s right and who’s wrong. There’s just no time for this anymore."

'D.G.G.R.S' follows previous singles 'Surrender', 'Emerald Skies', 'Beautiful Hell' and 'Seasick Sailor', which have all had strong support on Alex Baker's Kerrang! Radio Fresh Blood show.

Resolve are a band that have been savouring every second of their journey so far and biding their time - observing, learning, building - and making sure that every single aspect of how they’ve wanted the band to function was fully realised before delivering it to the world.

Starting their journey back in 2016 after their previous projects parted ways and their intentions set on this being their forever band, vocalist Anthony Diliberto, bassist Robin Mariat and drummer Nathan Mariat have spent the last half a decade tinkering with the formula that feels the most suited to them. Making their first mark in 2017 with debut EP Reverie, before following with standalone single ‘Carmela’ in 2018, it wasn’t until 2019 that they felt truly at home in their sound.

That was in the form of Pendulum, a collection of three songs that not only represented the beautifully bludgeoning and densely expansive sound that was resting in the back of their heads, but also found them appearing on Spotify’s New Core, New Metal Tracks and Kickass Metal playlists.

When looking out for each other and soul searching feels more crucial than ever before, Resolve have put together a record that transcends borders altogether. They've created a universe littered with as much darkness as light and as much hardship as hope. Between Me and The Machine feels like just the beginning of a truly spectacular voyage to the stratosphere, but right now, it is the sound of a band making the most brutally honest and beautifully human music they can.

Resolve will support LANDMVRKS on their 2022 UK/European tour, joined by ten56. and Glassbone.

Delta Sleep release new single 'Old Soul'

New LP Spring Island postponed to 12th November, released via Sofa Boy Records

Delta Sleep have released their beautiful new single 'Old Soul', taken from their forthcoming record Spring Island.

Spring Island will now be released 12th November via the band's own label Sofa Boy Records.

Stream 'Old Soul' here: https://deltasleep.plctrmm.to/oldsoul

Bassist Dave Jackson comments: "'Old Soul' is here to help us all transition from Summer to Autumn without too much gloom - It's the end of summer hug that everyone needs before the long and brutal winter. The lyrics in this track instantly transport me back to my formative years of leaving school, going to college and watching the world open up around me. 'Old Soul' is like watching Dazed and Confused but now you're in your 30s and you have a tax bill to sort out but in the back of your mind you remember that feeling of total freedom and how new the world felt. Oh and it's a total banger!"

It's been a stacked three years for Delta Sleep, in spite of the pandemic. The quartet released the brilliant Ghost City LP in August 2018, which saw them land at #1 on the Bandcamp Rock Chart and clock five million Spotify streams by the close of the year.

Following Ghost City's release, Delta Sleep tirelessly toured across three continents. They racked up sold-out shows globally, toured the US and Canada three times, hitting Europe on Mineral's 20th Anniversary tour, performed at ArcTanGent and Truck festivals, toured Asia, and released their Ghost City Rarities EP (ft. tricot).

Not ones to slow down, Delta Sleep then surprise-dropped their Younger Years EP, and their 2020 live album Soft Sounds, before working on their third album Spring IslandSpring Island will be released via Sofa Boy Records, the band's own label.

Avant garde vocalist / composer Rïcïnn unveils stunning animated video 'Doris' (feat. Travis Ryan)

Celebrating the one year anniversary of new album Nereïd (Blood Music)

"A stunning piece of work" - Prog
"Quite unlike any record you’ll hear" 4/5 - Kerrang!

Experimental French vocalist / composer Rïcïnn (Laure Le Prunenec) has unveiled the stunning new video to the single 'Doris', which features guest vocals from Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation. The animated video, which was entirely digitally hand-drawn by German artist Marius. M. Muench, marks the one year anniversary of Rïcïnn's ground-breaking new album Nereïd, out now via Blood Music.

Watch the video to 'Doris' here: https://youtu.be/zzLs2Gv-LF8

Mariuscommented on the video and his creative process: “Drawing gives me the ability to create my own unique worlds, to tell stories from distant lands defined by my pen, but expanded by any viewer's imagination and therefore hold secrets that not even I may know, even though I have drawn the fundamentals of it.

"Lauredoes the same with her music, voice and language, so it was quite exciting to see what happens when we combine both our ways and create a third realm that consists of both her musical universe and the universe of my drawings.

"Together with the tribal drums of
Sylvain Bouvier, the apocalyptic scream ofTravis Ryan textured by the guitars ofEran Segal, and conducted by the strings of cellist,Raphael Verguin, mixed and mastered byDéhá Amsgand now accompanied by my drawings,Rïcïnncreated a child holding parts of all our imaginations, a child named Doris.

"Or how the creator of both our favourite series would put it "There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge.’ (Rodman Edward Serling, The Twilight Zone)

"It is an area which we call ‘The Doris Zone’."

PurchaseNereïdhere: http://www.blood-music.com/store

Watch the video to previous single 'Psamatäe' here: https://youtu.be/9tE8_oQpX4Q

In a world of appearances, Rïcïnn was born from the desire to remain true to her instrument, the voice.

As a child, she cooked remedies, formulas, and prayers to serve them to the world. An expression of 'The Now'. Fire & water, whales & birds, sounds emanating from the mist, blown by the windy shore, spitting the scrambling wreckage of a damaged arch, vestige from an ancient and forgotten civilisation, flooded into the oversights of time.

Rïcïnn appears as the lonely survivor of a pre-post apocalyptic universe, a new world in which she bereaves the loss of her unknown culture.

Nereïd is a concoction of many cultures, assimilated and included with her own language. The experience of an incarnation in the material world, falling into the living, as the nymphs of Poseidon move the ocean, making choices, harmonising the rhythms of nature.

Known for her work as female vocalist for breakcore outfit Igorrr, experimental gothic funeral metal band Öxxö Xööx, and experimental trip-hop unit Corpo-Mente; Rïcïnn's beautiful, solo work lies in the realm of funeral opera - with nearly all composition, instrumentation, and imagery created by the artist herself.

The result is a celestial dance, moving into unexpected explosions of terror, each sacred in their own right.

Pyrexia announce new album and release single

'Pawn to King' video streaming now

Gravitas Maximus album out 10th December via Unique Leader Records

Brutal death metal pioneers Pyrexia have unveiled their lead single, 'Pawn to King', from their upcoming album Gravitas Maximus, due out on 10th December via Unique Leader.

Watch the video to 'Pawn to King' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDP_dvGFKRs

Pre-order Gavitas Maximus here: https://orcd.co/vtscold

On the album announcement, guitarist Chris Basile comments: "When you write an album like Sermon of Mockery, it’s like Moby Dick with this giant whale that you have to conquer. I spent over two decades throwing harpoons and missing every time. Gravitas Maximus goes right through the heart of the whale and kills it dead. Along with everything else."

Legendary brutal death metallers Pyrexia return with new album Gravitas Maximus. Now entering their fourth decade, the quintet return heavier and stronger than ever, proving once again to be one the most important forces in extreme music.

Gravitas Maximus was recorded at Chapel Sound Recording Studios, aka “The Chapel”, Long Island, New York by Chris Basile, and mixed and mastered by Miguel Teresso at Demigod Recording Studio, Portugal.

In 1987 guitarist Chris Basile joined the band Mortuary along with Terrence Hobbs, Doug Cerrito and Mike Smith, all of Suffocation. Together over 30 songs were written by the band with many of the songs and riffs written during this period appearing on both Pyrexia and Suffocation’s early releases leading too many comparisons.

In 1990 Basile met with Guy Marchais, Rob Shimonski, Daryl Wagner and Mike Andrejko and Pyrexia was formed. They went on to release their 1991 demo Liturgy of Impurity and later the classic 1993 full-length Sermon of Mockery, cementing their place in the anoles of death metal history.

Pyrexia continued to release one seminal release after another including their 1997 System of the Animal, and even joining forces with Trevor Peres of Obituary in 2001 to form the band Catastrophic, which went on to release their debut album The Cleansing on Metal Blade records.

In 2006 Pyrexia signed with Unique Leader records and began an extensive campaign of touring and performing both in America and overseas under the UL moniker. A tradition that continues today with no end in sight.

VRSTY release lyric video for new single 'Finesse' (Feat. Notions)

New album Welcome Home out 19th November 2021 via Spinefarm Records

New York City-based collective VRSTY (pronounced "Varsity") - Joey Varela [vocals], Javy Dorrejo [bass], Chris Cody [drums], and Paul Gregory [guitar] - have released a lyric video for their confident, rowdy new single 'Finesse'.

The track, which features rap/metal artist Notions, is taken from the band's new album Welcome Home, due for release on 19th November 2021 via Spinefarm Records.

Check out the lyric video for 'Finesse' (Feat. Notions) here: https://youtu.be/8RTaW35vS3U

Pre-order Welcome Home here: https://vrsty.lnk.to/WelcomeHome

"'Finesse' was a fun process," Varela recalls of the genesis and back story of the track. "I think I wrote this song about two years ago and re-wrote it about three more times before scrapping it. Something always brought me back to it, though, and it was worth it, since it ended up making the record."

He opens up about the track's deeper meaning, saying: "The song itself is about finding all of my heartaches and faults to be a blessing in disguise. Sure, everything hurts at the time, but it has all made me stronger. It has also made me a little crazier. Crazy is good, though."

Varela, an admitted fan of Notions, connected with the artist online and their collaboration was born. "Over the years, I watched him develop into this incredible artist and I always told myself, 'The day I get to do a full-length, he ABSOLUTELY needs to be on it'. And here we are. I clearly couldn't have chosen a better artist to feature on this song." Notions adds another layer of straight-up vibe to this hard-hitting, album-opening song.

Welcome Home is the band's debut full-length for Spinefarm Records and follows last year's breakthrough Cloud City EP, which has accumulated six million streams in less a year and yielded the head-turning singles 'Shameless' and 'Massive'. The latter was the most played on SiriusXM's Octane for two weeks in a row in late 2020. VRSTY have perfected their seamless and fearless cross-pollination of metallic grooves with R&B-influenced, after midnight vocal swagger on their new 14-track offering. VRSTY aren't just offering their own take on a genre; they have authored a fusion style that is entirely their own.

"Welcome Home is an incredibly personal album to me," Varela shares. "I know everybody says that, and hey, maybe they're not lying when they do. I sure as hell am not. It was definitely a task, at first, trying to figure out how to phrase or sing something without getting too personal. But somewhere along the way, I threw that idea out the window and decided to say exactly what I felt. You won't find me trying to sound cool or using any fancy wordplay. It's just me in my rawest form, saying exactly what I've felt or experienced over the years, which is what has made me who I am today. I think if anybody ever wants to get to know me, this record will give you everything you need to know. No secrets. Just me."

Alt-rock quartet El Moono release 'Forced to Smile' single remixed by CLT DRP

The new remix and previous single 'White Gold' mark a new era for the atmospheric, raucously anarchic El Moono. Following their 2019 single 'Thanks for Nothing' (Small Pond Records) and heavy touring around the UK and Europe with the likes of Black Peaks, Phoxjaw, Haggard Cat, Fangclub, and Press to MECO - El Moono are back with a vengeance. With influences of rock, hardcore, metal and grunge, the band's off-kilter and oftentimes mind-bending riffs, emotive songs and expressive lyricism combine to create a sound that’s difficult to pigeonhole.

'White Gold' and both versions of ‘Forced to Smile’ follow 'Thanks for Nothing', their self-released EP 'Tides' and standalone single 'Aura'. El Moono's captivating music have seen support from Kerrang! Radio’s Alex Baker, who has played every single to date on his show, as well as Amazing Radio and more.

Having recently supported Haggard Cat and performing at Burn it Down and Attitude Festival, and with their first hometown show in two years lined up for 2021, there’s no stopping this promising quartet.

Instrumental prog group Outrun the Sunlight reveal new single 'Emerald Joy'

A Vast Field of Silence LP out 12th November

Chicago instrumental progressive quintet Outrun the Sunlight have unveiled their fantastic new single 'Emerald Joy', from their forthcoming new album A Vast Field of Silence, to be released 12th November.

Watch the video for 'Emerald Joy' here: https://youtu.be/BQ0EgFwUwes

'Emerald Joy' is the second track released from A Vast Field of Silence, following 'Awareness'.
Watch 'Awareness' here: https://youtu.be/ELYDotqLWDY

Of the new track guitarist Austin Peters comments: "'Emerald Joy' might be my favorite track from this new album. It's a song that's been with me for nearly 4 years, and was written during a really difficult time in my life. Just hearing this song lifts my spirits, and to me, it encompasses everything I love about progressive music. I named it after the color of the energy used in Ayurvedic medicine to signify the heart. In other words, 'Heart Joy' is how I feel when I listen to this track."

A Vast Field of Silence pre-orders:

Physical pre-order: https://www.athousandarms.com/collections/outrunthesunlight
Digital pre-order: https://outrunthesunlight.bandcamp.com/album/a-vast-field-of-silence

A Vast Field of Silence is the Chicagoans fourth LP, and four years in the making. The thematic record is a wordless concept album, based around a recurring melody appearing throughout. Most clearly stated in the album opener ‘Awareness’, the beautiful theme is typical of Outrun the Sunlight, an unusually cinematic and compositionally-heavy group in the genre.

Although anchored to the theme, A Vast Field of Silence is a satisfyingly surprising record, one that is a journey of a listen. Going beyond simply instrumental progressive, the band incorporate elements of acoustic ambient, jazz, post-rock, and metal. Bearing comparisons to Cloudkicker, The Contortionist, and Russian Circles, A Vast Field of Silence is Outrun the Sunlight at their best.

The band have a huge depth and range of musical talent at their disposal: Kyle Kunkler (keys) is a professional dance piano accompanist (ballet, modern, and more) and composer, and custom-coded a majority of the synths heard on the album. Luke Angle (drummer) is a professional music instructor, from big-band jazz to math rock via country & western. Phil Kalas (bass) is also a composer, under the name Asleep In The Stars, while guitarists, Cody McCarty and Austin Peters formed the group in 2011, and have known each other since playing together in high school bands from 2008. Austin, aside from Outrun the Sunlight, has also practiced embodiment meditation since 2017, and is the founder of “Simple Being”, which produces recorded meditations with voice and ambient music.

With forming in 2011, the band released both Architecture of the Cosmos EP and debut LP The Return of Inertia in the same year. Signing with Rogue Records America in 2012, the duo re-released The Return of Inertia (Vocalist Version) which included vocalists from around the world, plus two bonus tracks. In 2014, the addition of drummer, Pedro Villegas, and bassist, Connor Grant, brought the band to the stage, and they released their second album Terrapin also on Rogue Records. In August 2015, following the release of Live at Electrical Audio EP, the group toured in the east coast United States with Native Construct (Metal Blade Records) and Wings Denied.

In 2016 Outrun the Sunlight went on to perform on Chicago internet music series, Audiotree, releasing the live album Outrun the Sunlight on Audiotree Live. They then released Red Bird independently in 2017, their third LP, the first instance that the group performed together on an album. A band not content to rest, they then released a live in-studio record, Emerge, in January 2021.

With the Covid-19 interruption and introduction of a new drummer, Outrun the Sunlight’s newest LP has eventually been four years in the making, from first conception ‘til release – but well worth the long wait.

Cody McCarty - Guitar

Kyle Kunkler - Synth + Keys
Luke Angle - Drums
