Heavy hard rockers Daxx & Roxane release rocking Stevie Wonder cover; announce EP

New single 'Superstition' streaming now

DROP EP due 25th March 2022

"Fun and entertaining as well as incredibly polished and accomplished.” - 4.5/5 MMH Radio
"Loud, proud and with the killer choruses to carry a crowd." - Rush On Rock
"Hard rocking, high powered, energy fuelled live sets." - My Global Mind
"Sheer balls out, foot to the floor hedonism." - Rock Media UK

London-based heavy hard rockers Daxx & Roxane have returned to the fold with a new single, a cover of Stevie Wonder's 'Superstition'. The track is taken from the band's upcoming covers EP, DROP, due for release 25th March 2022.

Watch the lyric video for 'Superstition' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs1zVYXoHgI

As a standard appearance in Daxx & Roxane's live shows, the band comment on the release of the new single: "The cover of Stevie Wonder's hit song takes a dive into our groove roots, and we'll forever admit that if it weren't for rock, we would probably be playing funk".

'Superstition' follows the band's previous release of legendary French musicians Téléphone's cover of 'Argent Trop Cher', the first ever to be translated into English. On the upcoming EP drummer Luca Senaldi explains: "This EP is our creative release in between albums. It's a way for us to exercise the music that inspired us and also to experiment with new recording techniques at our home studio. We didn't want to go for any obvious covers so we learned more than a 100 songs and ended with these four tracks that really stood out in our style."

The quartet started off as a thrash metal band and eventually found their sound in the New Wave of Classic Rock scene with their debut EP 4X4 (2016)first full-length album Ticket to Rock (2017), and the swaggering self-titled follow-up in 2020. Garnering support and attention from Planet Rock, Emerging Rock Bands and more, the band have also shared their explosive live performances on stages at Bloodstock FestivalHard Rock HellMontreux Jazz FestivalRockin' the Bowl, and have supported the likes of HIMBiters, and Bad Touch.

Stone Broken announce new album & release new single 'Revelation'

New album Revelation out 15th April 2022 via Spinefarm Records

UK headline tour rescheduled for April/May 2022

Stone Broken have announced their dynamic new studio album Revelation, due for release on 15th April 2022 via Spinefarm. Born from a desire to push themselves into new realms of musical creativity, Revelation sees Stone Broken storming into rock’s big leagues.

The band have also released the title track as a single. Check out the video for 'Revelation' here: https://stonebroken.lnk.to/RevelationVideo

[Please contact hannah@holdtight.co to request a WAV or MP3 for airplay]

Having partnered with award-winning producer and former SikTh guitarist Dan Weller (Enter Shikari, Holding Absence, Bury Tomorrow) back in early 2019, both artist and producer hit it off right from the get-go. Working remotely with Weller between Walsall and London, the band shared lots of new ideas, experimenting with aspects of electronic sound design and fusing different strands of their more straight-ahead hard rock with darker electro elements – something frontman, Rich Moss, and drummer/ backing vocalist, Robyn Haycock, had long wanted to try.

Revelation, then, is an album both for Stone Broken fans and for the band themselves. Between the enforced COVID break and the exhilarating new elements they’ve incorporated into their music, the band and their Broken Army are ready to take on the world.

Rich Moss says: “We had a completely different approach on this record compared to our previous records, we wanted to try everything, we wanted to experiment, we wanted to build our sound from the ground up and totally re-imagine the 'Stone Broken Sound’, BUT without losing what we already had. It wasn’t easy, not in the slightest, but we managed to break down a few walls to get there, and along the way had some awesome discoveries. Like Robyn now having more vocal duties across the whole record, it really works well and brings a whole new dynamic to our songs”.

Pre-order Revelation in a variety of formats, including special bundles, here: https://stonebroken.lnk.to/Revelation

The Oklahoma Kid release video for new single and announce album Tangerine Tragic

'Melt Into You' streaming now

Tangerine Tragic due 3rd June via Arising Empire

Modern metal quintet The Oklahoma Kid have released a video for their brand new single 'Melt Into You', out now. The track is taken from their newly announced second full-length release, Tangerine Tragic, due out 3rd June 2022 via Arising Empire. Known for their unique blend of genres, the avant-garde five-piece continue to push boundaries and break old conventions with 'Melt Into You'.

Check out the video for 'Melt Into You' here: https://bit.ly/3npeJWJ

Stream/purchase 'Melt Into You' here: https://theoklahomakid.lnk.to/meltintoyou

Whilst first single 'Pale Tongue' took everyone on a disturbing trip with psychedelic visuals and heavy rhythms, deeply influenced by early millennial industrial music and Neue Deutsche Härte, their second single 'Melt Into You' will take you on a cleaner journey, with more melodic heaviness bursting at the seams.

Pre-order Tangerine Tragic here: https://arisingempire.com/tangerinetragic

For the music video the band teamed up again with Pavel Trebukhin known for his work with Imminence, Landmvrks, and Annisokay, with Tangerine Tragic being recorded and produced by Jan Kerscher (Ghost City Recordings).

Guitarist Andreas Reinhard comments:

“We are always trying to get different influences into our music, that’s why we were looking for a producer outside our genre, to get some new input. When we first met up with Jan, we knew he was a perfect match to record and produce our new material.”

Formed in 2012, The Oklahoma Kid have consistently pushed boundaries with their breathtaking modern metal, bridging the gap between technical intricacy and energising rhythms. The band's 2014 debut EP Fortuneteller established their position within the German metal scene with their signature blend of genres.

In 2015 they revealed their sophomore EP Doppelganger, working with renowned producer Aljoscha Sieg (Eskimo Callboy, We Butter The Bread With Butter, Nasty) to deliver their signature bouncing grooves and futuristic synthesisers, complete with catchy hooks and singalongs. The band's unique video for 'Scharlatan', which was directed by Pavel Trebukhin (Alazka, Stick To Your Guns, Annisokay), also won the national PopFish Music Video Award.

2017 saw The Oklahoma Kid enter the studio to work on their debut album Solarray, a release that displayed the band's full sonic scope and capabilities - ranging from huge wall-of-sound arrangements to fragile melodies.

The Oklahoma Kid have electrified crowds with their passionate, relentless performance, touring with Stick To Your Guns, Carnifex, Evergreen Terrace and Hatebreed.

The quintet are no long an insider tip, they are a force to be reckoned with. Whether you experience them live at a festival or on record in your living room, The Oklahoma Kid will change your perception of what metal is capable of.

Author & Punisher release new single 'Maiden Star'

Krüller album out 11th February via Relapse

UK tour planned for February 2022

Author & Punisher unveil a second track from the outfit’s highly-anticipated new album, Krüller (out 11th February via Relapse Records); the drone-drenched love song, 'Maiden Star'.

Watch the visualiser to the 'Maiden Star' here: https://youtu.be/c52RTO8fvL0

Mastermind Tristan Shone offers insight into the track and its place on the album: “’Maiden Star’ continues the trudge of escape and survival from ‘Drone Carrying Dread,’ but with a focus on the vital interpersonal conflicts and triumphs that exist in times of war and peace. This track, my personal favorite from the balance of the heavy and the melodic, is deeply personal and painful at the same time. The first note both lifts me up and beats the shit out of me.”

News of the album’s forthcoming arrival was met with widespread excitement. Revolver, who had placed the album on their most-anticipated releases of 2022, noted how “shimmering, melodic, and gorgeous” Author & Punisher’s music had become over the years. On the first preview from the eight-song release, 'Drone Carrying Dread', Consequence echoed the obvious focus on melody that drives Krüller, saying “The presence of electronic beats, synth flourishes, and a triumphant vocal delivery make it one of the prettiest A&P tracks to date, though no less sonically powerful. "

Shone began work on Krüller after returning from his opening slot with Tool across the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand, before being cut short due to the March 2020 lockdowns. "Melody has been and is still a part of my sound," says Shone. "I've always bathed them in a lot of reverb, delay, and distortion, though. This time around, I was bothered by the wall of distortion I had created. I wanted a little more clarity. I wanted to refine the sound. I wanted to step back from my own show and analyze it a bit. I had all these competing distortions that I wanted to streamline. I like contrast and wanted the vocals to be immediately noticeable. There's something about mixing punishing drones and rumble with a mellow thing on top that I really like on Krüller.” Shone’s digitised snarls rightfully had their place on earlier tracks like 'Doppler,' 'Terrorbird,' and 'Nihil Strength,' but contrasting mellow vocals atop Author & Punisher’s unparallelled heft made dynamic sense. Indeed, with Shone’s singing on songs like 'Drone Carrying Dread,' 'Maiden Star,' and the exceptional translation of Portishead hit 'Glory Box,' Author & Punisher have projected an air of uncertainty around the steely, often slow-motion grind.

Part of the Krüller revamp included refining the machines that have become synonymous with Author & Punisher. As a result, Shone is also launching a bespoke audio gear company called Drone Machines to coincide with the release of Krüller. The gear company launch follows nearly two decades of Author & Punisher honing in on his craft - meticulously inventing, machining, experimenting, and creating custom musical instruments for his incredible live performances and recordings.

Krüller pre-orders are available now with the 8-song, 52 minute collection available on a selection of limited-edition vinyl variants that tie into the colour palette of the album artwork, CD, cassette and digitally.

More info on Author & Punisher:

Author & Punisher formed in January 2004 as the brainchild of mechanical engineer, artist and sculptor Tristan Shone. His innovation, and the unique way he has melded his seemingly disparate background, has been highlighted in a wide range of outlets, from Wired Magazine who dubbed him a “doom metal auteur,” to Pitchfork who noted he “literalized the idea of sound sculpture.” He has released seven full-length albums and an EP over the years: The Painted Army (2005), Warcry (2007), Drone Machines (2010), Ursus Americanus (2012), Women & Children (2013), Melk En Honing (2015), Pressure Mine EP (2017) and Beastland (2018).

Comments vocalist Alex Hurst, "We are very excited to be heading back out on the road on this short run in May that finishes off with the amazing Portals Festival at the Boston Music Rooms in London. May 15 - Boston Music Room, London (Portals Festival) *

*Boss Keloid only

In 2021 the band released their worldwide critically acclaimed fifth album Family The Smiling Thrush via Ripple Music. Perhaps Boss Keloid's most ambitious album yet, it demonstrates their biggest transformation to date. Entering a new realm which leans more towards the grandeur of monumental prog-rock whilst still embracing their metal edge, the album is a true masterclass in versatility. Seven towering tracks of emotional energy, psychedelic grooves and riff-oriented guitar work combine with the signature melodic yet passionate style that vocalist Alex Hurst has been tweaking and perfecting since their debut, Angular Beef Lesson, in 2010.

Produced and mastered by Chris Fielding at the legendary Foel Studios in Wales, the band entered the studio with a focus on gaining a clearer, more open sounding recording than ever before. The end result is a typically Boss Keloid gargantuan soundscape, littered with spacious jams and sticky grooves which twist and turn in euphonic harmony. Family The Smiling Thrush is their most attention-grabbing effort to date and only further cements their status as one of this era's most interesting and vital bands.

Lyrically throughout Family The Smiling Thrush Boss Keloid explore the notion of the collective being greater than the individual, embracing all flaws and the strengths of each. Each song burrows deeply into areas such as community, communication, family, personal growth, mindfulness and positive inner reflection, inviting the listener to not only join but truly revel in the journey of being alive.

Paul Swarbrick | Guitar
Alex Hurst | Vocals and Guitar

Thrash trio Misfire release blistering first single 'Fractured'; announce debut album

Debut album Sympathy For The Ignorant out 1st April via MNRK Heavy

Chicago-based thrash trio and recent MNRK Heavy signees Misfire will release their Sympathy For The Ignorant debut full-length on 1st April.  In advance of the record’s release, the band have unveiled a video for first single, 'Fractured'.

Premiered via Decibel Magazine, watch the new video here: https://youtu.be/VP2DCGNd8rI
Pre-order Sympathy For The Ignorant here: https://misfire.lnk.to/sympathyfortheignorant

Notes drummer James Nicademus of the track, “Featured as the first song of the album, ‘Fractured’ unearths the feelings of uncertainty and dread we were faced with in 2020. Inspired by the current state of the world, it delves into the madness that is the pandemic. The song poses the question, ‘What’s left of who we are?,’ as we are left with humanity divided and fractured. The album has a common theme revolving around situations that many people have gone through or will go through. We’re all going through this shit right now so this is our take on it: ‘No matter what you believe, we are fractured, divided, diseased.’ We are looking forward to sharing it with the world!”

Misfire makes old-school flavoured thrash metal devastation with the kind of bombastic firepower that could wake the dead. In the tradition of classic metal trios like VenomMotörhead, and Raven, Misfire makes more noise than bands twice their size, producing song after song of unrelenting fury. It’s music that could have arrived in the thrash golden age of 1986, when bands like MetallicaMegadethSlayerDark Angel, and Sodom delivered vital records. And yet Misfire is forward-thinking, injecting modern metal mastery into their brew for a powerful, timeless sound.

Created in a small studio and engineered by bassist/vocalist Sean Coogan, the debut album for Misfire is free from click-tracks and other unnecessary frills, projecting the purity of what three musicians raised on Pantera and the Big 4 sound like in a room together. Sympathy For The Ignorant is heavy, confident, and filled with the kind of earworm thrash metal riffs that sends aspiring players to the guitar store.

“The album is a sonically badass version of what you’ll hear live. It’s real, no fake shit,” drummer Nicademus says. “It’s very much a throwback to the way things used to be recorded. Like, just turn the shit on, press record, layer some stuff in after that, put some words on top of it, mix it, and it’s done.”

Armed with the attitude and songs to follow in the footsteps of SlayerMetallica, and Lamb Of God, the three men of Misfire are heavy metal lifers. “I started playing drums when I was eleven, and ever since, it’s all I talk about,” says Nicademus“Jay and I started jamming together at ages twelve and thirteen.”

In just a short couple of years, Misfire quickly shared the stage with thrash legends Sacred Reich and modern throwback bands like Iron Reagan and Warbringer. As long-running tastemakers Metal Crypt wrote in a review of Sympathy For The Ignorant“these fellows are ready for the big leagues.”

“Whatever happens, we’re going to be here for a long time because we can’t live without doing this shit,” Nicademus declares. “All we want is to make records, tour, and have a good time doing it.”

Misfire is poised to give the world a much-needed dose of Windy City whiplash. Get ready.

Misfire are:

Jay Johnson – vocals/guitar
Sean Coogan – vocals/bass
James Nicademus – drums

Blood Command announce new album Praise Armageddonism and stream new single

Praise Armageddonism due 1st July via Hassle Records

'Nuns, Guns & Cowboys' streaming now

Blood Command have announced their long-awaited new album, Praise Armageddonism, due 1st July via Hassle Records.

The acclaimed death-pop group have also released their new single 'Nuns, Guns & Cowboys', which you can stream here: https://orcd.co/bc_nuns_guns_cowboys

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/0E_T2aZAA5Y

Pre-order Praise Armageddonism here: https://smarturl.it/Praise_Armageddonism

In the words of Blood Command: "'Nuns, Guns and Cowboys' is a song about feeling empowered to believe in what you want. It’s a bit of a ‘f*ck you’ to anyone who might ridicule others for believing in something that may help them get out of bed in the morning. It should be no one else’s business nor should anyone judge someone for something they believe in.

"Because the album was originally written and recorded with our previous singer, which is now almost three years ago, it feels like the biggest relief being able to finally release it. Recording with
Nikki did breathe new life into the record but we are all still so keen to get it out to the world as it’s been a very long journey to get to this point.

"Finally having
Nikki in Norway (after having waited for over a year and a half since she joined the band!) has been nothing less than a dream for all of us. From the moment that she stepped foot on Bergen soil, we both knew we had made the right decision. We clicked instantly, it honestly feels like we have been best friends for years. Even the first band practice was better than any of us could have imagined and everyone in Blood Command agrees that we couldn’t find a better fit if we tried!"

Of the video, the band comment: "It has been an amazing experience being able to finally be able to create a music video together, now that we are all in Norway. While it was an interesting process creating music videos and finding ways to do band photos on opposite sides of the globe, it has been so much easier and much more rewarding being able to create something as a group in the same room. We had the best time on set, we filmed the video in a nightclub in the middle of Bergen because we wanted to do something that really contrasted with the heaviness of the song, which goes perfectly with our death-pop style. The video was shot by cinematographer and director David Alreak, who had so many clever and unique ideas and was so easy to work with!"

Recorded over three years, and re-recorded with their new vocalist Nikki Brumen (ex-Pagan), Praise Armageddonism is Blood Command at their best yet. A one-of-a-kind proposition, the death-pop group combine blistering riffs, a hardcore attitude, and pop sensibility to create truly scintillating, invigorating music. Previously called 'one of the world's best kept secrets' by Rock Sound, achieved one of the Albums of the Year in Kerrang!, and applauded by Metal Hammer, Blood Command have stepped up even further with their new album, with Nikki Brumen fiercely leading the way.

Blood Command have previously toured with Biffy Clyro, Kvelertak, Rolo Tomassi, and Skindred, following the release of their acclaimed EP Return of the Arsonist, the conceptual successor to 2011's Hand Us The Alphamale EP. The band have also shared the stage with Refused, Tragedy, Comeback Kid, and Gallows, and have played Download Festival, The Great Escape, 2000trees and Roskilde festivals, among others. Now with celebrated UK label Hassle Records and with Nikki at the front, Blood Command's power and prestige only rises higher.
