Bleed-Abide LP coming 22nd April via MNRK Heavy

Hotly-tipped US deathcore group Bodysnatcher have unleashed their brutal new video 'Wired For Destruction', taken from their long-anticipated album, Bleed-Abide, on 22nd April via MNRK Heavy.

Stream 'Wired For Destruction' here: https://youtu.be/CxHhgowFstc

Pre-order Bleed-Abide here: https://www.bleed-abide.com

An epically unashamed demonstration of aggression, Bodysnatcher's music is dark, furious, and threatening. It’s a sound born from the burden of struggle and an unwavering commitment to continued survival against all obstacles.

Bodysnatcher put the 'core' back in deathcore. Bleed-Abide, the Florida band's third album, crackles with rage and power.

Elaborates guitarist Kyle Carter of the band’s latest bruiser, “‘Wired For Destruction’ lyrically was inspired by our drummer Chris Whited and expanded on by me. For me, it represents the common fear of being forgotten after death. It also touches on the fear of not having control and doubting every action you take. The name says it all really. Death, sickness, and most fears hold a lot of us back from living our life how we really want to, so we thought it was an important topic to talk about."

Coinciding with the release of Bleed-Abide, Bodysnatcher will join Dying Fetus for a month-long Spring tour across North America, with Chelsea Grin, Frozen Soul, and Undeath.

Bodysnatcher are currently supporting Ingested on their UK tour. Dates as follows:

18.03.22 UK Birmingham @ Asylum 2
19.03.22 UK Manchester @ Rebellion
20.03.22 UK Glasgow @ Audio

About Bodysnatcher:

Kyle Medina (vocals), Kyle Carter (guitar), Kyle Shope (bass), and Chris Whited (drums) embody the hardcore spirit and cut their teeth in their tight-knit Florida community, home of death metal and pioneering punk, hardcore, and power-violence bands. Bodysnatcher are monikered after the nickname of one of history’s most notorious serial killers, Ed Gein, and represented by a triangular symbol steeped in alchemy and the occult. But Bodysnatcher lyrics owe more to the horrors of domestic strife than the gore of their Florida-based forebearers in Cannibal Corpse.

The inception point came with the purest of intentions. “I was around seventeen,” Medina explains. “We were just going to be a band that was basically a ‘breakdown band’ for my friends to mosh to.” Eventually stabilisng with a line-up that overlapped at various points with beloved groups like King Conquer and Dealey Plaza, Bodysnatcher released a quick succession of albums and EPs, most notably Abandonment (2015), Death Of Me (2017), and the utterly crushing This Heavy Void (2020). Combined with a blistering live show, this led to a deal with the MNRK Heavy label.

Bleed-Abide is the darkest offering yet from Bodysnatcher, burning with an intensity derived from a further focus on sonic pummeling and truth-telling narratives. “Even as a pissed-off teenager, the first songs I wrote were about personal experiences and people who did me wrong,” Medina says. “The musicianship is more mature; there are still a lot of breakdowns but done in a much smarter way. It’s definitely still Bodysnatcher. It’s like Bodysnatcher on steroids.”

All of the guys contribute to the lyrics, resulting in multiple points of view and diverse insights anchored by common themes of catharsis and resistance. 'Absolved Of The Strings And Stone' is a battle cry against the gaslighting and emotional abuse of toxic people. 'Hollow Shell' delves into strained familial dynamics, where some family members live as virtual prisoners to others. 'Wired For Destruction' confronts death anxiety. “It’s about the fear of the unknown, how all of us will move on,” says Medina. “Are we just going to return to dust? Are we just forgotten?” Even amidst the uncertainty and darkness, there’s an underlying positivity to be mined within. 'Value Through Suffering' takes a proactive stance on hardship, a way to rebuild from the wreckage. Too many bands resist genre classification in an aloof effort to distinguish themselves from every other band, inadvertently consigning themselves to talking points that sound like everyone else. Bodysnatcher is, without apology, a deathcore band. There is no compromise in the cards. “Deathcore kicks ass. A lot of bands shy away from labels they don’t deem ‘cool’ enough. But we don’t give a f*ck,” Medina says proudly. “We like what we like, and we play what we play. We all love hardcore and metal, so we’re going to play hardcore, play metal, and play breakdowns. And that’s how the band is going to be, forever.”

Alt-rock quartet El Moono release remix track by Phoxjaw's Josh Gallop

Temple Corrupted EP out now via Lockjaw Records

"Riffs, riffs, and slightly more riffs" - 8/10, Metal Hammer

Alternative quartet El Moono have released their new remix single 'Final Execution', remixed by Phoxjaw's Josh Gallop.

Stream here: https://elmoono.lnk.to/finalexremix

Watch the visualiser here: https://youtu.be/8muohnmYRhc

The original version of 'Final Execution' can be found on El Moono's acclaimed new EP Temple Corrupted, out now via Lockjaw Records.

Order Temple Corrupted here: https://elmoono.lnk.to/templecorrupted

The EP – a raucous mix of Deftones, Thrice, Black Peaks, and Phoxjaw – marks a new era for the band. It follows heavy pre-Covid touring around the UK and Europe with Black Peaks, Phoxjaw, Haggard Cat and Press to Meco, and fully showcases El Moono’s expansive tastes and approach.

Influences of rock, hardcore, post-hardcore, sludge, grunge and metal, the band's off-kilter and oftentimes mind-bending riffs, emotive songs and expressive lyricism combine to create a sound that’s difficult to pigeonhole.

A band unafraid to experiment sonically, El Moono tracked their EP in an ancient church, and notably features the piano used during Adele's Glastonbury performance.

Temple Corrupted is a concept EP, focused on depression and anxiety, and how societal corruption affects individual mental health. Listen out, for example, for track five, 'Miseria', which directly tackles the first-person experience of self-loathing. The song brings attention to the staggering statistics around suicide, and what might happen in future if our attitudes toward mental health remain the same.

'White Gold' tackles issues around institutionalised segregation of race and the injustices ethnic minorities face, fronting up to how the UK is an ‘ignorant empire’. Unafraid to confront serious events, their track 'Requiem' was inspired by watching a loved one waste away due to illness – a direct nod to guitarist Jamie’s father’s diagnosis of chronic cancer at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A band fully committed to their message and to change, drummer Chris runs a clothing brand, ‘Over Your Head’ donating profit portions to mental health charities.

‘White Gold’ gained the attention of legendary artist Dan Hillier, who lent his stunning artwork for the cover. El Moono are the third band Dan has worked with after fellow Brighton-based heavyweights Royal Blood and Architects.

A reflection on the fragility of life, Temple Corrupted is a fearsome and impassioned EP from a highly promising group.

'Gunshow' is the adrenaline-fuelled opening track on Triple One's explosive new project A DANGEROUS METHOD VOL 1. Co-produced with Grammy-nominated producer 18YOMAN, this aggressive nocturnal banger will have you relinquishing all control and submitting to the libertine within. A tempestuous mash up of trap, alternative rock, and drum n bass, Triple One set the tone for their hard-hitting project that breaks all the rules and re-establishes why they are one of the most forward thinking outfits in alt-rap.

The news of the band's mixtape follows the smash success of previous singles 'Come Over' and 'Blood Rave', which have now amassed over two million streams, chart positions, and an award nomination.

Triple One are impossible to categorise, and even harder to ignore. Brash bars come courtesy of rappers Marty Bugatti and Obi Ill Terrors, melodic hooks by Lil Dijon float in paranormal fashion while greyscale production is expertly crafted by Billy GunnsTriple One are a sonic experiment between hard, soft, and all the textures in between.

Triple One's early cult singles 'Doozy' and 'Overflow' scored millions of views and streams internationally, but 2019 was the year that Triple One broke into Australia's consciousness: their singles 'Showoff', 'Tarlo' and 'Valentine Kid' were added to high rotation on triple j, and they were also profiled by Complex, GQ and Highsnobiety. Their 2019 single 'Butter' also dominated radio airwaves and led to the group's debut UK/European tour and five sold-out shows across Australia. 'Butter' was later certified Gold in Australia.

In 2020, Triple One released their debut album Panic Force which debuted at #1 on the ARIA hip-hop charts, and #8 on the ARIA album charts. It was also crowned the triple j 'Feature Album of the Week'. Onstage is where Triple One truly state their case. Having earned a notorious live reputation through relentless gigging across Australia, 2021 saw the band sell out their Panic Force Tour nationally in the midst of difficult pandemic circumstances. The release of the group's new mixtape, following the successes of 'BLOOD RAVE' and 'COME OVER' heralds the exciting next chapter for Triple One.

Death metal legends Jungle Rot announce record, stream new single, sign to Unique Leader

New album A Call to Arms out 13th May

'Total Extinction' out now

Death metal legends Jungle Rot return with their eviscerating new record A Call to Arms, to be released 13th May via Unique Leader.

The US quartet have also streamed the first single from A Call To Arms, the mighty 'Total Extinction'.

And watch 'Total Extinction' here: https://youtu.be/CG5Id4EvNxc

For a band who’ve existed now for over 25 years, Jungle Rot are still hitting their prime with their savage new album.

Once again co-produced by Chris Djuricic and the band, A Call to Arms was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö. It’s the band’s newest record since their acclaimed self-titled 2018 release, praised by Loudwire, Decibel, Revolver, Metal Hammer and a host of celebrated publications.

Forever looking to push death metal groove with attitude, Jungle Rot are highly regarded globally. Jaded death metal purists looking for fresh kills need to add the band to their must-listen list – not just A Call to Arms but the band’s impressive and extensive back catalogue, including their 2013 reissue of their classic 1995 Skin The Living.

Shots firing overhead, out of breath, thankful to be alive, an exhausted, courageous soldier takes cover in a nearby trench. Overcome with tragedy, the cadet looks down to carefully remove his worn down combat boots to discover his feet numb and blue, knocking him back with an overwhelming smell of decay and gangrene. This phenomenon is known as “jungle rot”. With a little imagination, visualise this horrifyingly grotesque predicament as it would be in heavy metal form - teeming with despair, brutality, darkness and volatility. The sinister picture you have just painted comes to life in four-piece death metal act Jungle Rot, who has been triumphantly destroying the metal scene since 1994.

Hailing from Kenosha, Wisconsin, Jungle Rot has steadily collected fans by the thousands since their 1995 demo release Skin The Living. Critics, blown away by their chillingly explosive live shows, rewarded the band with stellar reviews and were offered their first record deal with Pulverized Records. Through new representation, the men released their first full-length project, Slaughter The Weak (1998) and were greeted by a tremendous amount of support from both the metal community and critics everywhere. Responding to a flood of new fans, the band rearranged their line-up, adapted their sound, produced new material, and began to dominate the Midwest tour circuit.

The following decade saw the band sign with Olympic Records in 2001, releasing Dead and Buried, and then in 2009 signing with Napalm Records, and their What Horrors Await LP.

The band have toured relentlessly across the world, including with Deicide, Entombed, Vader, Cattle Decapitation and many more. Inspired and motivated by their fans’ continued support, Jungle Rot went on to release the 2011 Kill on Command and eighth studio album Terror Regime (2013).

Now signed to the mighty Unique Leader, the veterans make no sign of wavering or slowing down with the legendary brand of old-school thrash, death, and crossover crust punk.

Hacktivist announce rescheduled UK headline tour for May 2022

New album Hyperdialect out now via UNFD

"vicious and vital" - Rock Sound

UK grime-metal quintet Hacktivist have announced rescheduled dates for their Hyperdialect headline tour. Originally confirmed for December 2021, the band had to postpone the dates when co-vocalist Jot Maxi suffered a fractured pelvis.

Rescheduled dates:

7th May - Manchester, The Bread Shed
8th May - Newcastle, The Cluny 2
10th May - Birmingham, The Flapper
11th May - Cardiff, Clwb Ifor Bach
12th May - London, Underworld

All original tickets remain valid for Manchester, Birmingham and London. Refunds are available for those with tickets to the original dates in Glasgow and Bristol. Original tickets for Glasgow and Bristol are non-transferable to the replacement shows in Newcastle and Cardiff.

Remaining tickets are on sale now, available here: https://www.hacktivist.uk.com/shows

Hacktivist released their eagerly anticipated album, Hyperdialect, in June 2021 via UNFD, described as their "most tightly wound and venomously intoxicating work to date" by Kerrang!, whilst Rock Sound named it "vicious and vital" and Metal Hammer declared the title track "bursts with urgency and flexes the band's genre-fluid muscle." Hacktivist's singles were also championed by BBC Radio 1's Jack Saunders and Daniel P. Carter, Kerrang! Radio and more.

Question everything. Consider your sources. Be wary of ulterior motives, insidious media narratives and even your own unconscious bias. Trust sparingly and try to make smart, informed choices. As the world slides further into ruin at the behest of old, rich white men ruling with catastrophic, zero-sum thinking, it’s more important than ever to be vigilant and fight back against the forces that be who seem hell-bent on creating a dystopian future for us all.

Luckily, Hacktivist are back to help cut through the noise and bullshit, tooled-up and ready to attack with renewed vigour and reinforced ranks; with Jot Maxi and J. Hurley now sharing the vocal and lyrical load, drummer Rich Hawking and bassist Josh Gurner bringing the beats and rhythms, and guitarist and production don James Hewitt fleshing out the group’s genre-fluid muscle. Hewitt played a very active role in Hacktivist's writing and recording process, bringing a new and compelling dynamic to the table.

In 2016, when Hacktivist initially set sights on their enemies with debut album Outside The Box, the world wasn’t fully equipped to heed their warnings and pay attention to its timely rallying cries. They return into a very different one, however – a world that’s sadly now all-too-finely-attuned to the horrors they first forecasted four years ago. In the wake of a global pandemic that has sharpened collective senses and exposed the systematic flaws across society, these should be times primed and ready for the truth-bombs that Hacktivist are about to drop. But recent hardships only amplify the band’s messages – these dispatches from the edge were written way before a virus brought humanity to its knees.

If all of that sounds grim and miserable, fear not, because Hacktivist aren’t here for unhelpful told-you-so's or sensationalist scaremongering. What use would holding a mirror up to all of this ugliness be if there weren’t some lessons to learned from the reflection, or at least to offer even the faintest glimmers of hope? "It’s becoming clear that we are on the brink of some type of revolution," says Jot Maxi, with no small dose of conviction or optimism. "Hacktivist are here to bring truth and positivity – the silver lining of a society clouded in poisonous fear. Hacktivist also represents a voice that isn’t afraid of saying what needs to be said. We’re already living in the future. We have the choice to either be shaped by it or to stand up and shape it ourselves. Which path will you take?”

It was with those battle lines clearly drawn and ambitions duly set that Hacktivist entered into the creation of Hyperdialect. Starting almost two years ago and developing on the acerbic sonic filth introduced by 2019 singles 'Reprogram' and 'Dogs Of War', the five-piece felt fired up by their new working dynamic and the collective process involved, with each member actively encouraged to contribute ideas until the best outcome was reached. Unusually, for such a group of bloody-minded insurrectionists, this democratic approach worked wonders – a testament to how much they were all on the same page on these 12 tracks. Aside from guest spots from rapper Kid Bookie on the monstrous Armoured Core and Betraying The MartyrsAaron Matts lending his vocal talents to the title-track, this was all Hacktivist: no filter, no frills, and no holding back.

Swiss progressive death metal quintet Kassogtha reveal new single, 'Drown'

Credit: David D'Agostini

FFO: Arch Enemy, Lamb of God, Gojira

First glimpse of new album, rEolve, released Autumn 2022

Swiss progressive death metallers Kassogtha have revealed their epic new single 'Drown'. 'Drown' is the first in a series of new songs from the band's forthcoming new album rEvolve, to be released in Autumn 2022. More news shortly.

Stream 'Drown' here: https://found.ee/kassogtha-drown

And watch the video here: https://youtu.be/wAB8nFwH68U

Kassogtha are led by vocalist-lyricist Stephany, whose incredible command of growled and clean vocals help mark the band as future Swiss heavy music stars. A concept album, rEolve tells the story of an endless self-destructive cycle of fear, anxiety, and jealousy. In a world that normalises negativity, we have forgotten how to be happy — and following a pandemic-enforced long, hard look at humanity and society, this is Stephany’s journey of dealing with these emotions. This album is a perfectly timed release valve for two years of isolation, anxiety and grief — a furious expression of frustration at missing the things we love that help us get through difficult times.

Kassogtha band place authenticity and sincerity above smoke and mirrors: a genuine metal band for true metal fans, that takes the genre further without abandoning its core ingredients. From Pink Floyd to Gojira via way of The Agonist and Arch Enemy, Kassogtha’s no-nonsense brand of groovy progressive death metal combines a variety of influences to create a steamrolling fusion of irresistible riffs, neck-breaking drums and a vocal range covering devastating growls and ethereal melodies.

Stephany comments on 'Drown''s meaning and background:

"’Drown’ is about a tragic moment of acceptance, when you choose to abandon yourself to the most comforting suffering because it is, at least, a world you’ve created for yourself in response to the one you never asked to live in.

"This song is a transition between the Kassogtha’s past and future, with Mortimer’s signature groovy riffs sprinkled with the prog influences the band holds dear today. It’s a genuine evolution in terms of composition, arrangements and performance.

"Trapped in a remote house in the Swiss mountains, surrounded by snow, with nowhere to go: that’s the atmosphere in which the lyrics and the first demo were recorded, which perfectly matched the mood of the place.

"Strongly influenced by Tool, the song was composed in part after watching Danny Carey's famous drum playthrough of the track 'Pneuma'. The break was built around polyrhythms that were later extended to the whole song.

"The special sound of the introduction tapping was created in the studio in collaboration with David Castillo."

On rEvolve, produced at Stockholm’s legendary Fascination Street Studios with David Castillo (Carcass, Opeth, Leprous), Linus Corneliusson (Ihsahn, Amorphis) and Tony Lindgren (Carcass, Opeth, Katatonia), Kassogtha showcase old school riffs and progressive inspiration, savage grooves and blast beats, creativity and speed, and pure, honest dedication to their craft.

rEolve will be released on Klang Machine Records, the newly-formed heavy music label co-founded by Swiss metal wizard Merlin Sutter (Cellar Darling, ex-Eluveitie).

Prog trio The Hirsch Effekt announce socially distanced concept EP

SOLITAER out 26th August via Long Branch Records

UK dates at UK Tech-Fest and Arctangent announced

German progressive metal trio The Hirsch Effekt have announced their new EP SOLITAER, out 26th August via Long Branch Records.

Watch the lyric video to 'NARES' taken from the EP here: https://youtu.be/R0MduZA9Hh0

The social distancing restrictions of the Corona era prompted The Hirsch Effekt to take a radical step: what if you not only recorded by yourself for the next release, but also wrote the songs completely alone? One song per band member. And so came about the concept of SOLITAER, which means "living individually" and thus represents the antonym to gregarious - Social distancing as a song writing concept. The opinion of the other band members was welcome, but required no necessity and didn’t need to influence the work of the respective musicians. In the end three songs were created - all of which showcase typical characteristics, that are part of the The Hirsch Effekt recipe, but do not sound like typical The Hirsch Effekt songs. It not only sounds like an extremely exciting experiment, but also frankly speaking: exceedingly extreme. The SOLITAER EP is rounded off by a band version of the song 'Gregaer', which was originally created as an orchestral version.

SOLITAER will be released as limited and serially numbered LP Edition incl. black vinyl, Exclusive Napalm Records Shop Edition incl. coloured vinyl, CD Edition incl. both SOLITAER and GREGAER EPs, stream and download. Also The Hirsch Effekt's latest vinyl EP GREGAER is now available again as a limited reissue with red coloured LP.

All formats are available for pre-order here: https://thehirscheffekt.lnk.to/solitaer

The Hirsch Effekt will be back on the road from June including festival appearances at UK Tech-Fest and ArcTanGent.
