New artist Kubrick releases 'Waved' single

'Dizzyingly raucous' - Rock Sound

New alternative artist Kubrick has released his new single, 'Waved'.

Stream 'Waved' here: https://ditto.fm/waved-kubrick

Watch the lyric video here: https://youtu.be/gl3vQkbDs0Q

'Waved' is Kubrick's metalcore single, his nod to and acknowledgement of his previous career in Shields. The track was initially intended to be a transitional single for Shields, revealing Kubrick as the band's new frontman; however the band disbanded before the song was ever released.

Now, several years on, the song has received a new lease of life - all guitars and vocals re-recorded and with a new mix by George Lever.

Kubrick will be playing his debut live show at London's Underworld on 23rd April with TheCityIsOurs. Tickets available here. 'Waved' follows previous singles 'Mannequin', 'Painfall' and 'Devastate', which have gathered over 100,000 streams already.

Kubrick has been performing and composing his music in various guises for over a decade. A child of two opera singers, and grandson of the globally-famous film director that bears his name, Kubrick was constantly surrounded by creative influences.

Kubrick's favourite artists and composers are those who created music depicting their experiences of pain and loss, as well as horror and sci-fi soundtracks. Kubrick himself is no stranger to tragedy, losing his mother at a young age and subsequently his close friend and fellow bandmember in Shields.

“Whilst the trauma of these losses is something I wish I could erase,” states Kubrick, "the perspective I gained from those experiences helped me leaps and bounds in my ability to empathise with others. As well as lay a foundation for the type of music I now enjoy to create”.

Kubrick strives to release the most authentic and unforgivingly personal songs which his audience can also interpret in a multitude of ways. Driving his sound is his unique cocktail of growling guitars and cinematic synthesisers which blend seamlessly with his multi-varied vocal styles. Elements of artists as varied as Bring Me The Horizon, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, and Linkin Park all can be heard from this truly talented new force.

As Kubrick emphasises, “I don’t think I will ever just stick to one “sound” or “genre” as my taste is continually evolving. My songwriting will never be dictated by what people want to hear, or what’s trending at any particular point. The plan is just to be unforgivably myself."

Rock trio LostAlone have released their brand new single 'The Last Drop Of Forever', out now via Dharma Records. The track marks the band's first new music since their 2014 album Shapes of Screams.

Vocalist Steven Battelle says: "Lyrically, I’m talking to myself about making the most of every moment, and I'm commenting on the realisation that I've never enjoyed "the moment" in my life.  Musically, this is me making up with my guitars and letting them know its time to head back to space."

LostAlone surprised fans with their return last month - eight years since they originally split. They announced their comeback alongside news of supporting My Chemical Romance at three shows in May.

On supporting My Chemical RomanceBattelle says: "We’ve always had such a kinship between our bands, so I was over the moon when they asked us to join them for some of these huge shows. My Chemical Romance fans are some of the most passionate and welcoming audiences I’ve ever played to, so I’m excited to meet them again."

LostAlone built an intensely dedicated following over three albums and through eight years of non-stop touring. With an absolute and total commitment to songwriting, and in creating an environment of inclusivity between band and audience, LostAlone crashed daytime BBC Radio One playlist and the stages of UK, Europe and beyond before screeching to a halt and disappearing into a relentless spiral of nothingness, after the release of their critically-acclaimed and fan-beloved third record.

Battelle comments on the band's return: "The three of us are buzzing to be back making music again together. I didn’t realise until recently that a part of me had been lying dormant these last few years, but now - without wanting to pre-empt the future - I feel like I’ve that part of me back for good."

LostAlone have also announced a hometown headline show in Derby, which will precede their shows with My Chemical Romance

Full dates:

13.05.2022 - Derby, The Venue (headline)
17.05.2022 - St Austell, Eden Project (w/ My Chemical Romance)
19.05.2022 - Milton Keynes, MK Dons Stadium (w/ My Chemical Romance)

British riff machine Viscera return with blasting new single ’Sungazer’ and announce UK tour

British riff machine Viscera have today, 8th April 2022, returned with their blasting new single ’Sungazer’.

Stream here: http://orcd.co/sungazer

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/8Se-NxzeAoc

The band comment of 'Sungazer': "We’re surrounded by this smoke screen lifestyle, where people base their comparisons of others through a diamond lens that leaves all the sh*t in the shadows…'Sungazer' touches on that. Lyrically, it’s about becoming fixated on pursuits or people that ultimately have a negative impact on your mental state, to the point where you become cut off and disassociated with everyone around you. The distraction tactics we take on to escape from that, only to find yourself losing sight of the things that truly matter in your life and by then all the time has passed. We thought having the song set on another planet would be a cool way to symbolise that feeling of being cut off and alone.”

The song was produced by the band and mixed by Simone Pietroforte (Distant), with artwork by Jason Peppiatt (Psycroptic).

Viscera will be touring the UK in May, with support from Osiah. Dates:

19.05.22 UK Milton Keynes @ The Crauford Arms
20.05.22 UK London @ Boston Music Room
21.05.22 UK Brighton @ The Green Door Store

Swedish symphonic metallers Tungsten release video for new single 'Bliss'

Swedish symphonic metal quartet Tungsten have revealed a video for 'Bliss', the new single and title track from their third album, which is due for release 17th June via Arising Empire.

Check out the video for 'Bliss': https://youtu.be/2qDSm3adQaA

The video was recorded and edited by guitarist Nick Johansson, who comments: "We already knew we wanted Volfram to be part of this video. Other than that I got some ideas from one of our band photos where we sit around an old black telephone, seemingly waiting for a call. This resulted in a concept for our video 'Bliss' which turned out pretty cool. The stressful feeling of the video suits the song and it’s lyrics well."

Pre-order Bliss here: https://tungsten.lnk.to/bliss

The quartet's third offering is their heaviest and darkest album to date, with the typical ingredients that define Tungsten's music also breaking new ground and exploring fresh territories. The hooklines are stronger and more dynamic, with lyrics taking a darker turn whilst still focusing on relatable themes.

Vocalist Mike Andersson explains: "It all came naturally. Creating and recording this album truly put us in touch with the feeling of bliss. Nick and Karl, who wrote the music, have really shown their skills and musical talents. Bliss explores new musical ideas but is still based in the genre that we established in the band from the beginning."

Bliss was recorded at Harm Studios, Trelleborg (Sweden). Nick Johansson once again took care of the mixing, mastering and production duties with the albums artwork taken care of by Andreas Marschall.

Bassist Karl Johansson states: "We really hope that Bliss will reach an even broader fanbase than before. So much pain, sweat and love has been put into this album so we're truly excited to introduce Bliss to the world".

Anders Johansson agrees; "This album might be one of the hardest ones I've had to record. Nick is close to a perfectionist at the production helm, so if I can find something that has been good about the pandemic it might be the fact I could spend many more hours in the drum studio just to practise and develop my technique".

Tungsten are ready to enter the live scene in 2022 and are already confirmed for Sabaton Open Air in August.

Tungsten were formed in 2016 when drummer Anders Johansson (Hammerfall, Yngwie J. Malmsteen’s Rising Force, Manowar) asked his sons Nick Johansson (guitars) and Karl Johansson (bass) if they were interested in starting a brand new band with him.

Tungsten's music has become synonymous with melodies, industrial power metal, and hints of Northern Folk music. Tungsten's first album, We Will Rise, was released in September 2019 with the track 'The Fairies Dance' close to passing 3 million streams on Spotify alone.

A year later, in November 2020, Tungsten released their second album, called Tundra. The song 'King of Shadows' was chosen as the first single, and has since gone on to become an anthem for Tungsten when performing live on stage.

Tungsten are:
Mike Andersson | Vocals
Karl Johansson | Bass & Screams
Nick Johansson | Guitar
Anders Johansson | Drums

Stone Broken release new single 'The Devil You Know'

Stone Broken have released their new single 'The Devil You Know'. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album Revelation, due for release on 22nd April via Spinefarm Records.

[Please contact hannah@holdtight.co to request a WAV or MP3 for airplay]

For studio album number three, RevelationStone Broken decided it was time to turn up the volume – to build on past glories with the intention of making everything bigger, bolder and generally the best version of Stone Broken there’s been. Enter new track 'The Devil You Know', a joyous earworm you’ll be sure to have on repeat.

As young performers with broad musical taste, the Midlands four-piece (together since 2013) have long held the desire to add other elements to their music, to give a more contemporary, commercial sheen to hard rock traditions. But it’s only now, with Revelation, that they’ve been able to bring these instincts fully into play.

Working closely with producer / SikTh guitarist Dan Weller, whose CV includes the likes of Enter Shikari and Dream State, the band were determined to raise the bar right across the board, from pre-production through to final mix, with anything even vaguely hinting of cliché immediately cast aside.

Pre-order Revelation in a variety of formats, including special bundles, here: https://stonebroken.lnk.to/Revelation

Stone Broken’s UK headline tour will take place later this month, running through to May 2022. The Revelation Tour sees Stone Broken take another big step up, playing larger venues nationwide, including performances at the 1,500 capacity Electric Ballroom in London and Institute, Birmingham.

Greek noise rockers Krause announce new album The Art of Fatigue; share lead single

Greek noise rockers, Krause, have announced their third full-length, The Art of Fatigue, which is set for release via Venerate Industries on 20th May.  The album represents another switch in the band's sound, delivering a scattered and relentless listen which showcases their undeniable presence and sonic expression.

Ahead of the album release the band have delivered a trippy, animated music video for first single, the savage 'The Stuff of Tired Eyes'.

Premiered via Metal Injection you can now watch the full video here: https://youtu.be/ILFFqEyWW24
Stream the single: https://smarturl.it/icexbz
Pre-order The Art of Fatigue here: https://www.venerateindustries.store/krause

Comments the band on the new single: "Far from being representative of the new record, 'The Stuff Of Tired Eyes' is more of an outlier. The only instance of clean singing on the record but still pretty damn brutal, and we love the dynamics on it."

Heavy-as-all-hell Athens, Greece noise rock quartet Krause emerged in 2016, exploding onto an unsuspecting scene with the release of their debut LP 2am Thoughts (Riot Season, 2017). Following in 2019 came the the equally well received The Ecstasy OF Infinite Sterility, a brutal, sparsely melodic monolith of an album. In 2020 the band released The Vague Outlines of Almost Recognisable Shapes/The Fraternity of Lost Men-Children 7-inch, which served as a harbinger of things to come. Two monumental slabs of uncompromising sonic violence gave an inkling of where Krause’s future sound was heading.

Featuring veterans of various scenes and genres (active and past members of VULNUS, Cut off, Rita Mosss, Casual Nun, Progress of Inhumanity, Dusteroid and Straighthate), Krause play AmRep/Touch and Go inspired heavy noise rock and put on an equally unforgiving live show to go with it.

Now, with their brand new full-length The Art of Fatigue set for release in May,  Krause are ready to lay down the next chapter in their noise-riddled, twisted, devastating course and meticulously take apart every single one of your expectations. The savage full-length may be the band's archetypal statement of intensity and despair made sonic.

On the upcoming album, the band comment:
"The tracks are essentially about urban decay and our disgust with politics, society and human life amidst the pandemic and the ongoing crisis. We are all rather misanthropic and pessimistic as people, so our lyrics tend to either be stories of urban isolation or reflect our disappointment with our own selves and humanity under capitalism. Our opinions were confirmed by the financial crisis and the resultant global situation, so I don’t see our themes changing any time soon.

"When we started Krause, all we wanted was to create an atmosphere and tone more than follow a style or genre. In our case, this harks back to the Amphetamine Reptile or Touch and Go bands which were characterised more by an attitude than a cohesive style or sound. As a result, the reference points that we do share (Unsane, Cherubs, Breach, Entombed, Cursed, Hammerhead, Killdozer, Helmet, Shellac, Today is the Day, Melvins, Whores, Gnod, Part Chimp etc) have more to do with a certain attitude and approach to music rather than the act of songwriting itself."

The Art of Fatigue will be released on 20th May via Venerate Industries. Pre-orders for the album can be found here, and the full tracklist plus artwork can be viewed below.

Through his collaboration with Hans Zimmer for the Oscar-winning soundtrack to the remake of the classic film 'Dune', desert fever has broken out again in Klaus Schulze. "I needed more of that 'Spice,'" Schulze recounts. "From there I felt completely unleashed and just played and played… at the end of that second private ‘Dune‘ journey I realised: ‘Deus Arrakis‘ became another salute to Frank Herbert and to that great gift of life in general.“

74 year old composer, musician and producer Klaus Schulze, who was born in Berlin and now settled in rural northern Germany, is known all over the world as the pioneer of Electronic Music and master of the Moog synthesiser. He shaped the 'Berlin School' and is the forefather of innumerable Electronic Music styles and genres. The ‘godfather of Techno Music' – as he is fondly called by some internationally-known DJs and remixers – has rolled out his extensive sounds, played his legendary sequences and created his unique 'Schulze atmosphere' for more than 50 years now. Beginning with Tangerine Dream and Ash Ra Tempel, Klaus has created over 50 solo albums, including Irrlich, Mirage, X, Dune, Farscape, Kontinuum, Silhouettes, and now Deus Arrakis. Creating either under the moniker of Richard Wahnfried or in his various collaborations with great artists like Arthur Brown, Michael Shrieve, Rainer Bloss, Lisa Gerrard or lately Hans Zimmer: Klaus Schulze always remains faithful to his unmistakable style of making music, while keeping an open mind for innovations and experiments.

Deus Arrakis will be available as high quality triple LP edition in a 3LP gatefold with black 180g vinyl, etching and printed inner sleeves as well as CD version in a digipak.

'A New Responsibility' single/video streaming now

New album Fury out 6th May via Seek & Strike

Upon A Burning Body return with their much-anticipated new full-length, Fury, out 6th May via Seek & Strike. This new effort is aptly titled and is the band’s most ferocious offering of their storied career. It continues in the vein of Southern Hostility and showcases the band refining their signature sound with an added layer of heaviness. The new addition of Thomas Alvarez (bass, backing vocals) was the final element that helped craft this American Heavy Metal masterpiece. If you dig Lamb of God and Pantera, then this is right up your alley.

The album’s crushing opener, 'A New Responsibility', is the lead single and you can check out its music video below. The clip, directed by David Brodsky (Black Dahlia Murder, Cannibal Corpse), perfectly captures the band’s powerful live performance.

Watch 'A New Responsibility' here: https://youtu.be/jph_d7ICo4s

Ruben Alvarez (guitar) states: "After listening to the complete album we knew we had created something that represents what the band stands for on and off stage. Fury is a whole new monster. We’ve always been a band that experiments and Fury is definitely the stamp we needed on our own signature sound. We brought in elements from our first three albums and mixed them with our last two. If you like the heavy rifts from Red, White and Green or the groove of Southern Hostility, then you are going to be stoked on this!

"The biggest change on this album is
Danny and my younger brother, Thomas Alvarez. Now having three biological brothers writing and performing together, what more can you ask for? Thomas has already brought so much to the table; helping us as a song-writer since Southern Hostility and now adding another vocal element. He has brought a ton of fresh ideas and writing has never been easier.

Upon A Burning Body have been through a lot of changes throughout the years and we have come full circle back to our roots. We are ready to keep pushing forward on our albums and live performances. Fury is definitely a huge step for us to show the world that we are here to stay and American Heavy Metal is alive and stronger than ever!"

Thrash trio Misfire release third single 'War Of Mine'

Chicago-based thrash trio Misfire have unveiled their third single, 'War Of Mine', in celebration of their thunderous debut full length Sympathy For The Ignorant which is out now via MNRK Heavy.

Comments drummer James Nicademus, "It feels amazing to finally have this record out and to be able to share it with the world. We are really proud of this one and we can't wait to play these songs live!"

Latest single, 'War Of Mine', merges classic era thrash akin to early Megadeth with groove metal reminiscent of Pantera into a thundering symphony of horn raising rage!

Captured in a small studio and engineered by bassist/vocalist Sean Coogan, the debut album for Misfire is free from click-tracks and other unnecessary frills, projecting the purity of what three musicians raised on Pantera and the Big 4 sound like in a room together. Sympathy For The Ignorant is heavy, brawny, and confident, filled with the kind of earworm thrash metal riffs that sends aspiring players to the guitar store.
