Bleed-Abide LP coming 22nd April via MNRK Heavy

Hotly-tipped US deathcore group Bodysnatcher will drop their punishing new full-length, Bleed-Abide, on 22nd April via MNRK Heavy. In advance of the record’s official release, the band have released a raucous new video for 'Behind The Crowd'.

An epically unashamed demonstration of aggression, Bodysnatcher's music is dark, furious, and threatening. It’s a sound born from the burden of struggle and an unwavering commitment to continued survival against all obstacles.

Bodysnatcher put the 'core' back in deathcore. Bleed-Abide, the Florida band's third album, crackles with rage and power. Unquestionably their darkest offering to date, Bleed-Abide burns with an intensity derived from a further focus on sonic pummeling and truth-telling narratives.

Elaborates guitarist Kyle Carter on their latest single, “‘Behind The Crowd’ stirs up some serious emotion in me any time I listen to it, or read it because it’s so full of self-doubt. There’s a line in the song – ‘abide by nothing but my own lies’ – that to me was kind of a standout line because I consciously know and realize that I’m not alone and I’m loved by my friends and family, but it doesn’t stop those feelings at the moment. This song describes how I feel most of the time in any social gathering, or even in personal relationships with people. It’s a work in progress and writing this song was a definite step in the right direction for me."

Coinciding with the release of Bleed-Abide, Bodysnatcher will join Dying Fetus for a month-long Spring tour across North America, with Chelsea Grin, Frozen Soul, and Undeath.

About Bodysnatcher:

Kyle Medina (vocals), Kyle Carter (guitar), Kyle Shope (bass), and Chris Whited (drums) embody the hardcore spirit and cut their teeth in their tight-knit Florida community, home of death metal and pioneering punk, hardcore, and power-violence bands. Bodysnatcher are monikered after the nickname of one of history’s most notorious serial killers, Ed Gein, and represented by a triangular symbol steeped in alchemy and the occult. But Bodysnatcher lyrics owe more to the horrors of domestic strife than the gore of their Florida-based forebearers in Cannibal Corpse.

The inception point came with the purest of intentions. “I was around seventeen,” Medina explains. “We were just going to be a band that was basically a ‘breakdown band’ for my friends to mosh to.” Eventually stabilisng with a line-up that overlapped at various points with beloved groups like King Conquer and Dealey Plaza, Bodysnatcher released a quick succession of albums and EPs, most notably Abandonment (2015), Death Of Me (2017), and the utterly crushing This Heavy Void (2020). Combined with a blistering live show, this led to a deal with the MNRK Heavy label.

Bleed-Abide is the darkest offering yet from Bodysnatcher, burning with an intensity derived from a further focus on sonic pummeling and truth-telling narratives. “Even as a pissed-off teenager, the first songs I wrote were about personal experiences and people who did me wrong,” Medina says. “The musicianship is more mature; there are still a lot of breakdowns but done in a much smarter way. It’s definitely still Bodysnatcher. It’s like Bodysnatcher on steroids.”

All of the guys contribute to the lyrics, resulting in multiple points of view and diverse insights anchored by common themes of catharsis and resistance. 'Absolved Of The Strings And Stone' is a battle cry against the gaslighting and emotional abuse of toxic people. 'Hollow Shell' delves into strained familial dynamics, where some family members live as virtual prisoners to others. 'Wired For Destruction' confronts death anxiety. “It’s about the fear of the unknown, how all of us will move on,” says Medina. “Are we just going to return to dust? Are we just forgotten?” Even amidst the uncertainty and darkness, there’s an underlying positivity to be mined within. 'Value Through Suffering' takes a proactive stance on hardship, a way to rebuild from the wreckage. Too many bands resist genre classification in an aloof effort to distinguish themselves from every other band, inadvertently consigning themselves to talking points that sound like everyone else. Bodysnatcher is, without apology, a deathcore band. There is no compromise in the cards. “Deathcore kicks ass. A lot of bands shy away from labels they don’t deem ‘cool’ enough. But we don’t give a f*ck,” Medina says proudly. “We like what we like, and we play what we play. We all love hardcore and metal, so we’re going to play hardcore, play metal, and play breakdowns. And that’s how the band is going to be, forever.”

Swedish tech-death titans Soreption rejoin Unique Leader; announce new album and share lead single

Jord due 10th June via Unique Leader

Single 'Död Jord' streaming now

Swedish titans of technical death metal, Soreption, have announced they are rejoining Unique Leader Records. In celebration of the partnership, the band have also unveiled their latest single 'Död Jord', taken from their forthcoming album Jord which is set for release on 10th June.

Watch the visualiser here: https://youtu.be/cNyLOkWVn9Q
Pre-order Jord here: https://orcd.co/soreptionjord

A triumph of a record, Jord sees Soreption at their most streamlined and potent, demonstrating so viscerally why they previously drew rave reviews globally with Engineering the Void (2014) and Monument of the End (2018).

The band comments: “Our main focus, as it has been in every album since the beginning, is to write death metal with a blend of technicality and groove. The goal is to raise those two elements’ more and more for every release. Finding that balance keeping the music interesting is important aspects when we write.”

Jord is an album of the highest skill by masters of their craft. Thirty minutes of brutal riffing and inspired songwriting goes by in a flash as Soreption stake their claim at the head of the modern tech-death wave. Never a band to shy away from a groove, the record continues the aggression-and-melody mix that has become the Swedish band’s calling card.

When establishing the concept of Jord the band focused on the concept of fragments of reality after the end of the world by way of an apocalypse. Jord is also the first album in Soreption’s repertoire where the lyrics are directed more towards fiction, whereas previously the band have commented on current or near-future world affairs.

Jord is mixed and mastered by Buster Odeholm (Born Of Osiris, Humanity's Last Breath, Vildhjarta, Hacktivist) at Odenholm Audio and featuring artwork by Caelan Stokkerman who handled artistic duties on their previous releases. Synths and Effects were arranged by James Carey with Drums and Vocals Recorded by Roger Bergsten at Nevo Studios.

Jord also features guest guitar solos from Ian Waye (Thanopraxia), Stefan Nordlander (ex-Soreption Live), Johan Andersson (Dråp), John Matos (Abiotic), Malcom Pugh (Inferi), Joe Haley (Psycroptic), Gottfrid (Independant), Dean Lamb & Tobi Morelli (Archspire).

Formed in 2005 in Sundsvall, Sweden, technical metal masters Soreption are known for their razor-sharp technical riffs, schizophrenic time signatures topped with catchy chugging grooves and intense vocals. From this they have created their signature sound, not yet replicated by any other modern band, and with a strong following to back.

The band’s debut full-length Deterioration Of Minds brought major attention to the band as a formidable force in the genre. Deterioration Of Minds was released by Ninetone Records in 2010 and was re-released by Unique Leader Records in 2014; their punishing follow-up album Engineering the Void was released February 2014 (also on Unique Leader Records) to critical acclaim worldwide.

Soreption only grew from there – 2015 saw them tour with Cryptopsy, Origin, and Cannibal Corpse. Following their touring success the band signed with Sumerian Records and in 2018 released their mighty Monument of the End LP.

With the world shuttered from a worldwide pandemic, Soreption took their chance to refocus their tech machine and create an album that is the natural continuation of Monument of the End.

French tech-death masters Exocrine announce new album The Hybrid Suns; share lead single

The Hybrid Suns due 17th June via Unique Leader

Single 'The Hybrid Suns' streaming now

French masters of technical death metal, Exocrine, have announced their new full-length album The Hybrid Suns and is set for release via Unique Leader Records on 17th June.

The Hybrid Suns is the career-defining fifth record from the Bordeaux-based group, a concept album studying the voyage between life and death, and showcases a jaw-dropping level of musicianship. Continuing to push the boundaries of extremity and precision playing, Exocrine are the bridge between the ferocity of Archspire and Cryptopsy, and the potent progressive leanings of Obscura and Gorod.

Ahead of the album release the band have delivered their first single, 'The Hybrid Suns'.

Watch the visualiser here: https://youtu.be/wmbdVb9AFEQ
Pre-order The Hybrid Suns here: https://orcd.co/thehybridsuns

Comments the band on the new single: "'The Hybrid Suns' is the first titular offering, introducing a new concept with a complex narrative frame to set the tone for the forthcoming album. As usual we have paid particular attention on the technical aspects and the speed, however this time we've pushed harder on the epic side of things to create a more grandiose sound!"

Written and produced by guitarist Sylvain Octor-Perez, the album was recorded at Triceraprod Studio and mastered at Roadster Lab, with the album artwork created by concept artist Tania Sanchez-Fortun

Since their inception in 2013, Exocrine have cemented their reputation as one of France’s most fearsomely technical and revered acts, beginning life as the brainchild of prolific guitarist Sylvain Octor-Perez.

Their 2015 debut Unreal Existence (Great Dane Records) caught the attention of keen-eared aficionados; not content to rest the band immediately set to work on their profound second record, Ascension, released 2017, again via Great Dane Records. Anchored in a sci-fi universe supported by a spatial sound design and cinematographic atmosphere, Ascension expanded on their trademark technical and brutal riffs, flowing melodies and sumptuous solos.

Determined to grow within technical death metal, Exocrine joined Unique Leader Records for the release of their third album Molten Planet in 2018, taking their sounds to the stage across Europe and Japan with bands such as The Faceless, Obituary, Obscura, Archspire and more. Maelstrom, the bands transcendental fourth album followed in 2020pushing the genre to its outer limits, exploring extreme tempos, technicality and brutality with a progressive approach and Synth Wave inspired synths.

Now with their fifth offering due for release in June 2022, The Hybrid Suns is the sound of a band hitting their full potential, intent on carving out their own style within the realms of technical death metal. With a sound unlike anything else, Exocrine are the masters of intricate technical experimentation and The Hybrid Suns is a formidable offering.

Catch the band live at Hellfest, France in June with further tour announcements to follow.

POWERWOLF and Iron Maiden team up for Legacy of the Beast mobile game

Latest in-game event: Macht der Wölfe

Ahead of the two bands sharing the stage for two shows in Germany this July, the most successful German metal band to date, POWERWOLF, will be the second in-game collaboration of 2022 for Iron Maiden’s Legacy of the Beast free-to-play mobile game.

Following successful collaborations last year with Amon Amarth, Lacuna Coil, Ghost and most recently with Disturbed, Iron Maiden's Legacy of the Beast team created a new character and storyline borrowing from POWERWOLF’s latest album, Call of the Wild. The new limited-time, in-game event called 'Macht Der Wölfe' (German for Power of the Wolf), features a limited-time character, Vârcolac.

Meet Vârcolac and play the game here: https://ironmaidenlegacy.com/

In this new storyline, Vârcolac and Van Helsing Eddie cross paths in the catacombs of Dracula’s Dungeon. Vârcolac has just escaped Professor Parabiosis, an evil doctor wanting to conduct experiments on him because of his extraordinary powers. He asks Van Helsing Eddie to join him in defeating the evil doctor. Van Helsing Eddie soon realises that Vârcolac is fighting his own internal struggle between good and evil and they soon realise the professor has a more sinister plan in mind than just a mere dissection.

When it came to seeing Vârcolac in Eddie’s world for the first time, POWERWOLF lead singer Attila Dorn says:
“We were breathless and stunned when we saw the first iteration of the game featuring our Vârcolac, and most of all we couldn’t wait to play it ourselves!” Attila continues, “When I was a young kid listening to my Iron Maiden tapes all day, I would have never dreamed of playing the same stage one day, being invited to support Iron Maiden with my band. Is there anything more a metalhead could dream of?”

Lead guitarist for POWERWOLF, Matthew Greywolf says:
Iron Maiden's songs and melodies are immortal. The neat combination of melody and heaviness is still as revolutionary as it was when first heard Maiden at 11 years old, I was truly fascinated by it, and I still am!”

Keyboardist Falk Maria Schlegel continues:
“I would say Bruce Dickinson is my major MAJOR influence in all that I’m doing on stage, with my whole performance… still a great inspiration, so thank you Bruce!”

Navigator Games CEO, Will Moore says: “The fans and players have been absolutely thrilled to see their favourite bands partner with Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast. Over the past year our players have kept hinting at POWERWOLF. We hope they’re pleased to see POWERWOLF's iconic mascot bought to life on this epic adventure!”

At the end of 2021, POWERWOLF – the most successful German metal band to date – fascinated with a streaming event of unprecedented dimensions. Those who thought they had seen everything in the live sector were instantly proven wrong with unmatched audio production and visuals that can only be described as simply breathtaking. This summer, on 8th July 2022, this new benchmark for music streaming events will finally be available to view any time you crave. THE MONUMENTAL MASS - A CINEMATIC METAL EVENT will be unleashed on DVD, BluRay and many other physical formats!

POWERWOLF have stood at the peak of superlative, epic metal moments for years, but what they present with this streaming event surpasses anything seen before. After months of detailed work, a story was crafted and presented in several chapters based on the stunning music and elaborately staged cinematic scenes. All show effects, actors and stage settings work hand in hand with each other and bring the medium of live music to a level never seen before. From battles with clergy to stories of nuns, monks and burning angels, cinematic images immediately capture the viewer.

THE MONUMENTAL MASS - A CINEMATIC METAL EVENT is a live spectacle that unveils new details watch after watch, and cements POWERWOLF's status as the most outstanding band in their genre.

ABOUT POWERWOLF:

The story of POWERWOLF, beginning in 2004, reads like a true fairytale, but is the result of the most hard-working and entertaining live band on the heavy metal planet. POWERWOLF has not only received plenty of Gold and Platinum awards to date, but numerous releases have entered the official German album charts at the top position of #1. With Blessed & Possessed (2015), POWERWOLF achieved Gold status (in the Czech Republic) for the first time, while its predecessor, Preachers Of The Night (2013), hit the official German album charts at #1, and the incredible DVD, The Metal Mass (2016), came in at #1 of the German DVD-Charts. POWERWOLF's holy mass in the name of heavy metal is unstoppable – their latest magnum opus, The Sacrament of Sin (2018), again entered the album charts at #1. The accompanying, almost completely sold out Wolfsnächte headline tour – in which POWERWOLF headlined large venues with their phenomenal stage performances – became a single major triumph, as well as the numerous summer festival shows in which crowds were thrilled and completely captivated by the Wolves and their unique, (un)holy metal mass.

Death metal legends Jungle Rot stream new single 'A Call to Arms'

New album A Call to Arms out 13th May via Unique Leader

Death metal legends Jungle Rot return have streamed their mighty new single, the title-track from their forthcoming record A Call to Arms, to be released 13th May via Unique Leader.

Watch the 'A Call to Arms' video here: https://youtu.be/d4TgzZAfcnI

Stream and pre-order A Call To Arms here: http://orcd.co/acalltoarms

For a band who’ve existed now for over 25 years, Jungle Rot are still hitting their prime with their savage new album.

Once again co-produced by Chris Djuricic and the band, A Call to Arms was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö. It’s the band’s newest record since their acclaimed self-titled 2018 release, praised by Loudwire, Decibel, Revolver, Metal Hammer and a host of celebrated publications.

Forever looking to push death metal groove with attitude, Jungle Rot are highly regarded globally. Jaded death metal purists looking for fresh kills need to add the band to their must-listen list – not just A Call to Arms but the band’s impressive and extensive back catalogue, including their 2013 reissue of their classic 1995 Skin The Living.

Shots firing overhead, out of breath, thankful to be alive, an exhausted, courageous soldier takes cover in a nearby trench. Overcome with tragedy, the cadet looks down to carefully remove his worn down combat boots to discover his feet numb and blue, knocking him back with an overwhelming smell of decay and gangrene. This phenomenon is known as “jungle rot”. With a little imagination, visualise this horrifyingly grotesque predicament as it would be in heavy metal form - teeming with despair, brutality, darkness and volatility. The sinister picture you have just painted comes to life in four-piece death metal act Jungle Rot, who has been triumphantly destroying the metal scene since 1994.

Hailing from Kenosha, Wisconsin, Jungle Rot has steadily collected fans by the thousands since their 1995 demo release Skin The Living. Critics, blown away by their chillingly explosive live shows, rewarded the band with stellar reviews and were offered their first record deal with Pulverized Records. Through new representation, the men released their first full-length project, Slaughter The Weak (1998) and were greeted by a tremendous amount of support from both the metal community and critics everywhere. Responding to a flood of new fans, the band rearranged their line-up, adapted their sound, produced new material, and began to dominate the Midwest tour circuit.

The following decade saw the band sign with Olympic Records in 2001, releasing Dead and Buried, and then in 2009 signing with Napalm Records, and their What Horrors Await LP.

The band have toured relentlessly across the world, including with Deicide, Entombed, Vader, Cattle Decapitation and many more. Inspired and motivated by their fans’ continued support, Jungle Rot went on to release the 2011 Kill on Command and eighth studio album Terror Regime (2013).

Now signed to the mighty Unique Leader, the veterans make no sign of wavering or slowing down with the legendary brand of old-school thrash, death, and crossover crust punk.

New artist Kubrick releases 'Waved' single

'Dizzyingly raucous' - Rock Sound

New alternative artist Kubrick has released his new single, 'Waved'.

Stream 'Waved' here: https://ditto.fm/waved-kubrick

Watch the lyric video here: https://youtu.be/gl3vQkbDs0Q

'Waved' is Kubrick's metalcore single, his nod to and acknowledgement of his previous career in Shields. The track was initially intended to be a transitional single for Shields, revealing Kubrick as the band's new frontman; however the band disbanded before the song was ever released.

Now, several years on, the song has received a new lease of life - all guitars and vocals re-recorded and with a new mix by George Lever.

Kubrick will be playing his debut live show at London's Underworld on 23rd April with TheCityIsOurs. Tickets available here. 'Waved' follows previous singles 'Mannequin', 'Painfall' and 'Devastate', which have gathered over 100,000 streams already.

Kubrick has been performing and composing his music in various guises for over a decade. A child of two opera singers, and grandson of the globally-famous film director that bears his name, Kubrick was constantly surrounded by creative influences.

Kubrick's favourite artists and composers are those who created music depicting their experiences of pain and loss, as well as horror and sci-fi soundtracks. Kubrick himself is no stranger to tragedy, losing his mother at a young age and subsequently his close friend and fellow bandmember in Shields.

“Whilst the trauma of these losses is something I wish I could erase,” states Kubrick, "the perspective I gained from those experiences helped me leaps and bounds in my ability to empathise with others. As well as lay a foundation for the type of music I now enjoy to create”.

Kubrick strives to release the most authentic and unforgivingly personal songs which his audience can also interpret in a multitude of ways. Driving his sound is his unique cocktail of growling guitars and cinematic synthesisers which blend seamlessly with his multi-varied vocal styles. Elements of artists as varied as Bring Me The Horizon, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, and Linkin Park all can be heard from this truly talented new force.

As Kubrick emphasises, “I don’t think I will ever just stick to one “sound” or “genre” as my taste is continually evolving. My songwriting will never be dictated by what people want to hear, or what’s trending at any particular point. The plan is just to be unforgivably myself."

Vocalist Steven Battelle says: "Lyrically, I’m talking to myself about making the most of every moment, and I'm commenting on the realisation that I've never enjoyed "the moment" in my life.  Musically, this is me making up with my guitars and letting them know its time to head back to space."

LostAlone surprised fans with their return last month - eight years since they originally split. They announced their comeback alongside news of supporting My Chemical Romance at three shows in May.

On supporting My Chemical RomanceBattelle says: "We’ve always had such a kinship between our bands, so I was over the moon when they asked us to join them for some of these huge shows. My Chemical Romance fans are some of the most passionate and welcoming audiences I’ve ever played to, so I’m excited to meet them again."

LostAlone built an intensely dedicated following over three albums and through eight years of non-stop touring. With an absolute and total commitment to songwriting, and in creating an environment of inclusivity between band and audience, LostAlone crashed daytime BBC Radio One playlist and the stages of UK, Europe and beyond before screeching to a halt and disappearing into a relentless spiral of nothingness, after the release of their critically-acclaimed and fan-beloved third record.

Battelle comments on the band's return: "The three of us are buzzing to be back making music again together. I didn’t realise until recently that a part of me had been lying dormant these last few years, but now - without wanting to pre-empt the future - I feel like I’ve that part of me back for good."

LostAlone have also announced a hometown headline show in Derby, which will precede their shows with My Chemical Romance

British riff machine Viscera return with blasting new single ’Sungazer’ and announce UK tour

British riff machine Viscera have today, 8th April 2022, returned with their blasting new single ’Sungazer’.

Stream here: http://orcd.co/sungazer

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/8Se-NxzeAoc

The band comment of 'Sungazer': "We’re surrounded by this smoke screen lifestyle, where people base their comparisons of others through a diamond lens that leaves all the sh*t in the shadows…'Sungazer' touches on that. Lyrically, it’s about becoming fixated on pursuits or people that ultimately have a negative impact on your mental state, to the point where you become cut off and disassociated with everyone around you. The distraction tactics we take on to escape from that, only to find yourself losing sight of the things that truly matter in your life and by then all the time has passed. We thought having the song set on another planet would be a cool way to symbolise that feeling of being cut off and alone.”

The song was produced by the band and mixed by Simone Pietroforte (Distant), with artwork by Jason Peppiatt (Psycroptic).

Viscera will be touring the UK in May, with support from Osiah. Dates:

Featuring former members of Heart of a Coward, Abhorrent Decimation, Martyr Defiled, Nervecell and Surfaces, Viscera formed in 2019.

Inspired by the seminal 90s & 00s bands - notably Pantera, Meshuggah, At The Gates, The Black Dahlia Murder and Killswitch Engage - Viscera combine these influences with modern tech death and deathcore flavours. Combined with a potent blend of watertight syncopation, Viscera are undoubtedly a powerful emerging force to be reckoned with.

In their time the band have toured with Decapitated, Ingested, and Lorna Shore.

Viscera are:

Vocals - Jamie Graham
Guitar - Ross McLennan
Guitar - Adam Bell
Bass - David Archer
Drums - Alex Micklewright
