Prog metal multi-instrumentalist Pomegranate Tiger returns with new single 'The Cryptographer'

Prog metal sensation Pomegranate Tiger returns with his single, 'The Cryptographer', his first new music in seven years.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/DR0F6MlY7Es

Stream: https://pomegranatetiger.com/

'The Cryptographer' is a unique audio-visual online art experience, centred on the conversations around AI, DNA sequencing, and robotics. The artwork and entire visual design of 'The Cryptographer' was created by Pomegranate Tiger's AI system, depicting a futuristic world in which humans and AI merge together.

Pomegranate Tiger comments: “I’m super stoked to bring Pomegranate Tiger back to life after 7 years…It’s been a long a wait but hopefully everybody enjoys the new song and video. I really wanted to lean into focusing this composition on the dance between rhythmic synchronization and syncopation between the drums and guitar. This frantic sonic motion between the instrumentals embodies that same spirit simulating the frantic pace of technological innovation in the last 10 years that brought us Artificial Intelligence. I hope you all dig the new track!"

The video alone took five months of 24-hour AI generation, from around 10,000 uniquely highly-detailed AI-generated frames, each taking 20 minutes to create.

Such an approach is typical of the artist that is Pomegranate Tiger - a one-man tour-de-force of musical creativity and energy. Founded in 2010, Pomegranate Tiger (Martin Andres) released his first record, Entities, in 2013. Entities was an underground sensation, garnering millions of streams, and became the #1 metal bestseller on Bandcamp, and #11 best-selling album across all genres. The album also broke the iTunes Top 100 Rock albums chart.

Pomegranate Tiger soon followed the success of Entities with his 2015 album Boundless, which received praise from The Guardian, Total Guitar, Metal Injection, MetalSucks and more. Boundless became the #1 best-selling metal album for a number of weeks on Bandcamp and again broke the iTunes Rock 100.

Disappearing into a multi-year hiatus to pursue other projects, Pomegranate Tiger has now returned, with his first new music in seven years. Slowly crafting his new material over the last two years, Pomegranate Tiger's 'The Cryptographer' is but a glimpse of the new era of this stellar artist.

HERIOT are a blistering, vicious, visceral new group, having made their mark with their titanic singles 'Dispirit', 'Recreant', 'Cleansed Existence', ‘Near Vision/Enter the Flesh’, as well as their monstrous cover of Machine Head's 'Ten Ton Hammer' over the course of 2021.

The band’s output across the last year has led to heads being turned across the metal world, all blown away by HERIOT’s unrelenting take on the new heavy. Fully-focused and with a razor-sharp edge, the awe-inspiring double-vocal attack of Jake Packer and Debbie Gough on vocals is all-conquering; the titanic support of Erhan Alman (guitar) and Julian Gage (drums) rock-solid.

Profound Morality reflects different aspects of human behaviour in our modern society. How far people push their moral boundaries to achieve what they want; outdated modes of living and beliefs that harm our contemporary life; life and death and how fulfilment can be achieved, be that helping or hurting peers; and how this shapes tyrants of industry, and a clear separation of class and wealth.

HERIOT have deservedly been grabbing attention with all four pairs of hands, weaponising metallic sludge and hardcore, unholy levels of distortion, speed and gut-punching talent. Elements of NailsKnocked LooseCode Orange, and Vein combine and collide to exhilarating new effect, to create a new sound that is truly groundbreaking, fully worthy of the notice the band are achieving.

In their short recent history HERIOT have caught the attention of Metal Hammer, Rock Sound, Brooklyn Vegan, Kerrang!, Revolver, and Knotfest, among many others. Acclaimed as "one of the most promising young bands in modern metalcore", HERIOT have supported Rolo Tomassi and Svalbard on their respective UK tours, and performed at Download2000treesBloodstockArcTanGent and more in 2022.

FLOYA release video for new single 'Florescent'

Iconic duo FLOYA return with their newest effort entitled 'Florescent'. After releasing their previous rock driven single 'Weaver', Phil & Marv are now focusing their energy on the EDM side of their sound on their fifth single, without losing their signature rock edge.

Check out the video for 'Florescent' here: https://youtu.be/rwKPBldtteI

Stream/purchase 'Florescent' here: https://arisingempire.com/florescent

Lyrically the song revolves a lot around the topics of love and support, motivating the listener to dispose of dangerous comfort zones, preventing oneself from living life to the fullest. Vocalist Phil Bayer comments: "For Florescent I’ve been inspired by someone special in my life, I didn’t have to think about the writing process at all, everything came together very naturally. It deals with the topic of dangerous comfort zones and what great things can happen to you if you leave them behind. For me that was love.“

'Florescent' was recorded and produced by Chris Kempe (Embark Audio), and mastered by Robin Schmidt (24-96 Mastering).

Fusing stomping beats and airy synths of EDM with the feel of a modern rock band, FLOYA are a truly special duo.

Hailing from Germany, Marv Wilder and Phil Bayer found common ground by talking about their childhood influences, namely Peter Gabriel, U2 & Sting. With a vision to fuse fresh pop rock with the aesthetics of EDM and world music, the pair set out to create their unique sound.

After the successful launch of their huge single 'The Hymn', the song was featured in an official AFL game between Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs on Australian Television; an impressive achievement for an act that’s been public for only a few months. FLOYA have also received significant airplay from Kerrang! Radio (UK) and Radio Contact. (BE)

Phil and Marv are on a journey of their own, exploring a vast array of genres and following one simple mantra: There are no limits. With this statement engraved on their minds, FLOYA strive to create something bigger than themselves, taking listeners on an unforgettable adventure.

Irish indie-punks New Pagans release striking video for new single 'Better People'

Irish indie-punk five-piece New Pagans have released their striking video for with their new single 'Better People', a stunning blast of positivity - and the first glimpse of the band's stellar new era.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/7Nw3HymioVw

Stream 'Better People' here: https://orcd.co/betterpeople

The band comment: "The video was once again shot by our frequent collaborator and fellow folk horror fan Dave McIntyre on the rocky shores and heather filled landscapes of Malin Head. The stunning Irish backdrop speaks for itself, it's free set design and if it's there we use it. As always there's a few sly references to our fav films in the video, and maybe a fellow film nerd will get them, but as for the plot: David Lynch said 'never explain'."

As the music industry fights to return from the brink, New Pagans abandon chaos for a brief moment, in search of hope. 'Better People' celebrates our ability as humans to pull together, create communities, and look after one another - the band's attempt to write a song that uplifts, gives hope, and just says you can be better.

Written during the grip of socially isolated lockdown, 'Better People' began with singer and lyricist Lyndsey Mcdougall celebrating the joy of music with her children. Realising the playlist they'd created had an inter-generational hopeful appeal, Lyndsey and New Pagans set to writing their own new uplifting anthem.

'Better People' is the result - recorded in the Glens of Antrim in Ireland by the band and self-produced, New Pagans continue to expand their DIY position. A glorious listen, recalling elements of The Xcerts, The Menzingers, and Muncie Girls, it's a strong statement of intent from the five-piece - given that extra heft with a mix by Sam Petts Davis (Radiohead, Warpaint, Frank Ocean).

Following their European tour with Skunk Anansie earlier this year, New Pagans then toured with English folk-punk heroes Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls on four dates across Germany.

'Better People' follows a stellar two years for New Pagans, following their globally-critically acclaimed debut The Seed, The Vessel, The Roots and All. Strong support from Stereogum, Kerrang!, The Independent, NPR and more helped mark the Irish group as a band to sit up and notice.

New Pagans are:

Lyndsey McDougall - Vocals
Cahir O’Doherty - Guitar and vocals
Claire Miskimmin - Bass guitar
Allan McGreevy - Guitar
Conor McAuley - Drums

Dark folk / chamber Prog duo Maer unveil debut single

Photo Credit: Corinne Coch and Maria Yureva

Dark folk / chamber prog duo Maer – featuring Marjana Semkina (Iamthemorning) and Anna Murphy (Cellar Darling, ex-Eluveitie) – have unveiled their debut single ‘Sister’ along with a stunning video.

Directed by Eggor Kree, watch the video for 'Sister' here: https://youtu.be/AIDM01i2xeI

Stream the single here: https://maer.lnk.to/sister

‘Sister’ serves as the perfect introduction to this exciting new project, showcasing the duo’s songwriting talent, unique composition style and beautiful melodies drenched in dark atmosphere. Featuring Ne Obliviscaris guitarist Benjamin Baret and Agent Fresco drummer Keli Guðjónsson, ‘Sister’ is now available all digital platforms, and is close to selling out a limited run of 300 signed and hand-numbered 7” vinyl.

On the single Marjana comments: "We're very excited to have Benji from Ne Obliviscaris and Keli from Agent Fresco on this song. I rarely play guitar on studio versions of my songs and and the fact that I played on this one is quite special - but it became much easier with the support of Benji's wonderfully musical guitar and Keli's beautiful drums. And of course, Anna's guidance in the studio."

On the video, Marjana continues: "This has been a journey. A few years ago I put together a team of wonderful people and it's the seventh project and a third music video we're all making together, and Eggor has been my long term collaborator for almost a decade now. It's always a joy to reconnect with them all creatively and by now they know me and my aesthetics quite well so working with them again felt like coming home. I think they've outdone themselves this time. Eggor's work with light was always quite special but I think it really shines (I'm sorry) in this particular video, and his camera work is beautiful. Making an engaging video for a six minutes long song is a tricky affair but i believe it all came together wonderfully. This is just the beginning of our project, we've got so many dark fairytales to tell the world."

Anna concludes:Eggor and his team did an incredible job in visualising the music Marjana and I created. We’re very much a DIY project; we don’t set ourselves any creative limitations, we recorded everything in my studio in Lucerne, I mixed and mastered it myself, and needless to say, we’ve financed it all ourselves as well. So we rely on the support of amazing creatives around us and our trust in Eggor has more than paid off!”

Purchase the vinyl and merch bundles here: https://maer.bandcamp.com

Marjana and Anna met and instantly connected when taking part in Prog Magazine's female-focused discussion panel She Rocks in 2019, and in 2021 began work on what would become Maer. Having both forged highly successful and award-winning careers (Marjana – Prog Magazine Best Album; Anna - Prog Magazine Best Video & Swiss Music Awards Best Live Act), the pair were hungry to experiment in new musical territory, resulting in this fascinating new project.

Marjana comments on Maer: "Maer came together very organically, it's a product of friendship and respect for each other's work. Anna is a wonderful musician and a producer and she breathes life into everything I write, turning it into something special. We have written a substantial amount of material together already and depending on the reception 'Sister' gets we're hoping to keep creating little dark fairytales for our listeners, eventually resulting in an album."

Anna continues: "We both didn’t really know what to expect when we started working together. Marjana took a leap and flew to Switzerland. We hiked, we sang, we drank wine and ended up even being able to write lyrics together which is something I’ve never done with someone. After almost 15 years of mainly being in rock and metal projects, it feels good to release something acoustic and mellow - not meaning that it’s less dark."

'Sister' was written and co-produced by Marjana Semkina, and co-written, produced, mixed and mastered by Anna Murphy.

Maer are working on their debut album, more news soon.

Floridian thrashers Rhythm of Fear release video 'Alien Synthesis'

Floridian thrashers Rhythm of Fear have released their new single 'Alien Synthesis', taken from new album Fatal Horizons, out now via MNRK Music Group.

Premiered via Metal Injection, check out the video for 'Alien Synthesis' here: https://youtu.be/L7jhEJxezxE

Purchase and stream Fatal Horizons here: http://www.fatalhorizons.com

Rhythm of Fear comment on the new single: “‘Alien Synthesis’ is a bit of a continuation from an earlier track of ours called ‘Fire In The Sky.’ We’re all somewhat obsessed with what else is out there as obviously tied into a lot of our overall imagery. For the video, we wanted to make something super visual, a short quick movie if you will. Of course we were leaning heavily towards a sci-fi horror vibe and wanted to tie in elements of our album art so we joined forces with Eric Ricter who is known to do killer work. We couldn’t be more excited with how it all turned out and hopefully people and aliens alike will be into it.”

Adds Metal Injection:Rhythm of Fear is here to groove their way right into your brain with ‘Alien Synthesis.’ I mean seriously, if you can get past the whole ‘AFTER! THE ABDUCTION!’ bit and not have this buried deep within your brain, then there's something wrong. This song rules and should cause headbanging to the point of soreness.”

Rhythm of Fear hit the road in the US next month, supporting label mates I AM.

Rhythm of Fear worship at the alter of thrash metal and crossover. Summoned from the sadistic swamps of Jacksonville, in Florida's heavy-metal rich soil, the masters of gargantuan groove conjured a reverence unrivalled by their peers. Committed to the unrelenting riffage, Rhythm of Fear gleefully reinvigorates the timeless collision of speed, musicianship, and attitude.

Unapologetic bangers like 'Dark Energy' and 'Ten Theories' quickly became underground classics to a growing legion of like-minded supporters who snapped up the band's 2011 demo, The Mass Illusion EP (2015), and full-length debut Maze of Confusion (2016). The appetite for devastation only intensified with the Ritual Dementia EP (2019), featuring 'Vortex of Torment' and the impassioned 'Over And Out'; a deep cut from the early power metal years of Pantera.

Now, the band threatens to conquer the hearts and minds of all in metal, with the vitriolic, thrashtastic, cirle-pit-inciting Fatal Horizons, their sophomore slab of cleverly crafted crossover. Produced, engineered, and mixed by Joey Jones (Royal Thunder, Cloak), with sci-fi/horror artwork from Mario Lopez (Toxik, Skeletal Remains, Evil Invaders), Fatal Horizons' thirteen-tracks are richly thematic and devilishly accessible in equal measure.

Rather than simply rehash the past, Rhythm of Fear absorb and examine metal history's greatest strengths, reassembling the parts into a fresh Frankenstein forged by the band's unique identity and experience. This is straight forward and in your face.

“On Fatal Horizons, we’ve come even more into our own,” notes vocalist Jay Santiago. Maze Of Confusion was very thrash metal and very hardcore driven. Aside from our lead guitar player, all of us grew up in the hardcore scene. We established ourselves as a true crossover band, with fast metal parts and funky hardcore grooves. There’s still a bit of groovy flavor, but Fatal Horizons is even thrashier.”

Thematically, Fatal Horizons delves deeper into the human psyche with relatable themes of depression, addiction, and anger. Alien abduction, magic rituals, and the occult pepper their songs with personality and spirit while the justice system and politics are targets within the framework of broader fantasy metaphors.

Album opener 'Obsolescence' confronts addiction. 'Alien Synthesis' is about the aftermath of the abduction. The title track puts the listener at the centre of a black hole. 'Parasomniac' details Santiago’s struggles with the sleep disorder EHS, aka Exploding Head Syndrome, which awakens sufferers with imagined sounds. The simulation hypothesis is at the heart of 'Simulated Times,' inspired by one of Santiago’s dreams. There are instrumental interludes throughout Fatal Horizons, synergising the cosmic themes of mortality. 'Ceremony Of Sacrifice' closes it all with an exploration of Mayan and Aztec mythology.

Cody James - guitars
Justin Styron - Bass

UK rock quartet InTechnicolour release new single 'Turn It Loose'

UK rock quartet InTechnicolour have released their new single 'Turn It Loose', taken from new album Midnight Heavyweight, due for release on 4th November 2022 via Small Pond Records.

Check out the video for 'Turn It Loose' here: https://youtu.be/GtFJYFG3CHY

Stream/purchase 'Turn It Loose ' here: listen.smallpondrec.com/turn-it-loose

Vocalist Tobie Anderson comments on the single: "'Turn It Loose' was one of the first songs we wrote for this batch of tunes that eventually ended up turning into Midnight Heavyweight. It used to be that we lived all over the UK as a band: me up north, Dave in the West Country, and Vlad and Sam based down in Brighton. This meant we wrote the vast majority of debut album Big Sleeper using cracked copies of Logic and barely working audio interfaces. In 2018 I moved down to Brighton, so this was one of the first stabs we had at writing like a 'normal' band, all our feet stinking up the same room etc! (Little did we know what 'normal' was about to become in 2020 with the pandemic). Although Sam had been a part of InTechnicolour for a while at that point, he hadn't written with us three yet. So as well as this being a little odd looking at each other's faces whilst trying stuff out, we also had a new face in the room to stare at."

On the song's content, Tobie continues: "The lyrics on 'Turn It Loose' speak about the turbulence of life. It's about feeling like you're trapped in a situation but instead of asking for help you double down and dig in for the long haul. It's about a feeling of helplessness, but at the same time being self-aware enough to be able to see just how helpless you are. It's about that weird internal struggle those who have had depressive periods in their lives will know about, you know you need help, you know you should ask for it, but you also kind of don't want to get help because the sadness feels safe...?! Like a weird dark blanket you can pull over your head, it's too heavy and it's itchy and stifling, but it's also familiar. It's weirdly comfortable."

InTechnicolour will tour the UK with newly-launched hardcore band Skin Failure (ex-Black Peaks). Dates:

Nov-10 Leeds, Key Club
Nov-11 Nottingham, Chameleon
Nov-13 Bristol, Crofters
Nov-24 London, Camden Assembly
Nov-25 Milton Keynes, Craufurd Arms
Nov-26 Southampton, Suburbia
Nov-27 Brighton, Prince Albert

Check out the video for previous singles:

'Tokyo Dream': https://youtu.be/A3UVdu-b4HY
'The Wave': https://youtu.be/-0V4D7cxnno

Hailing from Brighton, InTechnicolour are a riffy, groovy, rock band with a knack for creating a colourful song or two. Formed in 2015 through a want to play loud music through slightly broken amps, the basis of the band was created.

InTechnicolour are an inventive four-piece comprised of technically gifted musicians, cutting loose and playing music that’s about as far removed from their day jobs as it’s possible to get – and they are doing it better than a good portion of their contemporaries. Landing somewhere between the slack desert-groove of Kyuss and Karma To Burn, the band combine deeply satisfying riffs with a dynamic vocal style, which calls to mind the sounds of Baroness, Gojira and Mastodon.

InTechnicolour have previously toured across the UK and Europe with the likes of Physics House Band, Black Peaks, Town Portal, Bitch Falcon and Haggard Cat, and are gearing up to hit the road this autumn with dates to be announced very soon.

For The Fallen Dreams release video for new single 'No Heaven'

Metal quintet For The Fallen Dreams have released a video for their new single 'No Heaven', out now via Arising Empire.

Check out the video for 'No Heaven' here: https://youtu.be/O1Wi-LbGwIY

Stream/purchase 'No Heaven' here: https://arisingempire.com/noheaven

Vocalist Chad Ruhlig comments: "No Heaven is one of the first tracks that came to the table for the new material. Experimenting with something this outside of the box for us so early on in the writing process kept us motivated to stay the course. To have this one out into the world is a great feeling. We hope you all enjoy listening to it as much we did creating it."

'No Heaven' was produced by Jonathan Dolese at Konkrete Studios (Cane Hill), with vocal production duties by Daniel "DL" Laskiewicz (All That Remains, Bad Wolves).

What’s that old saying? “The more things change, the more they stay the same.” When it comes to Michigan-based metal outfit For The Fallen Dreams, perhaps a more fitting - but just as timeless - adage would be “change is the only constant.”

For The Fallen Dreams' career is defined by constant progression and a dedication to refining and rejuvenating their unique brand of aggressive, passionate metal. The five-piece have consistently demonstrated an ability to adapt and evolve their sound and dynamic, despite overwhelming adversity, all without sacrificing the core components of their sound.

Built around explosive breakdowns, gut-wrenching grooves and lyricism that touches on everything from an introspective glimpse into the human condition to brotherhood and camaraderie, these Midwestern masters of metal have made themselves a staple within the international heavy music community.

For The Fallen Dreams formed in 2003, but their story starts in earnest with the release of 2008's Changes - a record that would greatly impact the footprint of heavy music. Following Changes, For The Fallen Dreams went on to release five more remarkable full-length records, from the atmospheric and moody Relentless to chart-topping comeback record Heavy Hearts, which landed at #162 on the Billboard Top 200 and #3 on Billboard Heatseekers lists. Six saw the band venture into more metallic territory, with over 20 million views on YouTube and tens of millions of streams across various streaming platforms.

While For The Fallen Dreams have been through their fair share of changes, one thing has remained constant: their dedication to growth while never failing to deliver primal-yet-emotional music, which has made them a staple in modern metal.

Jim Hocking | guitar & vocals
