Hard rock group Pop Evil have unveiled 'Dead Reckoning', featuring Fit For A King vocalist Ryan Kirby, the third single from their new album Skeletons, due 17th March 2023 via MNRK Heavy.

The concept and instrumentals for 'Dead Reckoning' were brought to the table by bassist Joey “Chicago” Walser and co-written with singer Leigh Kakaty. The producer of Skeletons, Drew Fulk (WZRD BLD), heard the demo and immediately suggested that Ryan Kirby would be the perfect fit for a vocal collaboration. In describing the song, the band said, “'Dead Reckoning' is about a clear and unwavering decision a person makes within themselves."

 Pre-order Skeletons here: https://popevil.ffm.to/skeletons

The 11-tracks feature the band's already released singles: 'Eye of the Storm' landing at the #5 Most Played Song in 2022 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Chart, and most recent single 'Paranoid (Crash & Burn).' The album includes guest features by Ryan Kirby from Fit for a King on 'Dead Reckoning' and Blake Allison from Devour the Day on 'Wrong Direction.'

Discussing the album, frontman Leigh Kakaty said, “This is about us as a band stripping everything down to the bones. It’s more up-tempo, it’s got bigger riffs, and we’re trying to capture the energy of our live show.

“But it’s also a positive message, I know it’s a morbid visual, but behind every skeleton, there’s a story and something worth talking about. Overall, it’s about looking at something in a positive way. And I’m excited for everyone to hear that.”

The first single from the album, 'Eye of the Storm,' is a pummelling, chaotic maelstrom with an uplifting message at its centre (and a killer chorus). As for the song's lyrical plea, Kakaty explains: "It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from, at some point we all face a situation beyond our control. At times, it feels hopeless, but it’s not. There is a path through the chaos and a way out of the confusion. You are stronger and closer than you think you are. The storm will pass. Don’t let it bury you.”

Their most recent single, 'Paranoid (Crash & Burn),' oscillates from something more melodic and rhythmic to pure aggression, that 'get out of my head' scream is certainly going to resonate. “It’s about the voices in our head — we all have ‘em, but do we act on them?” says Kakaty. “It’s a cautionary tale, about processing those voices in a positive way."

Skeletons sees the band once again working with producer Drew Fulk (Disturbed, Papa Roach, Motionless in White), a friend and collaborator on a few previous albums that generated hits. “With Versatile we had a bunch of producers, but for this album, we just wanted to work with one person and get back to our roots,” says Kakaty. “There’s an energy he and I have, and he’s been great at helping us build these songs and work around some collective themes.”

Pop Evil have massive anthems and built a new rock’n’roll institution on a foundation of showmanship, raw relatability, and hard rock hooks, both forward-thinking and timeless from frontman, Leigh Kakaty, lead guitarist Nick Fuelling, rhythm guitarist Dave Grahs, bassist Joey "Chicago" Walser and drummer Hayley Cramer. No matter the headline-grabbing declarations from legendary icons, lamenting the changing of the guard, the slow-burning success of Pop Evil demonstrates the hunger for hard-hitting honest music persisting worldwide.

Their 2011 album, War of Angels debuted at #8 on Billboard Top Rock Albums with three singles landing on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Top 10 including 'Last Man Standing', 'Monster You Made' and 'Boss’s Daughter.' The momentum continued with their 2013 album Onyx, landing them on the Top 40 of the Billboard 200 for the first time, plus it was #9 on the Billboard Independent Albums in America and #25 on the Billboard 200. The album included three #1 Billboard Mainstream Rock singles with 'Trenches' 'Deal with the Devil' and 'Torn to Pieces.' In 2015, the band released their album, UP, which would make its way to #1 on Billboard Independent Albums, with four Top 5 Billboard Singles such as 'Ways to Get High,' 'Take It All,' and 'If Only for Now'. The hit single, 'Footsteps' is still one of the biggest songs to date and returned Pop Evil to Billboard’s #1 spot for four weeks. Their 2018 self-titled album landed three singles on Billboard Mainstream Rock, 'Waking Lions' at #1 with 'Be Legendary' peaking at #2, and 'A Crime to Remember' peaking at #7. Pop Evil just celebrated their 7th career #1 single in late 2021 with 'Survivor' on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Chart marking a historic milestone. 'Survivor' joins the previous Top 10 single 'Work,' and #1 single 'Breathe Again,' from their album VERSATILE, out now via MNRK Heavy. Over the course of their career, the band has achieved four gold singles with 'Torn to Pieces,' and 'Trenches' from Onyx, 'Footsteps' from UP and, '100 in a 55' from their debut studio album, Lipstick on the Mirror.

Modern Symphonic Metal Icons KAMELOT announce new album and stream single

One of the most innovative and prestigious bands in modern symphonic metal, KAMELOT, are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of their most introspective, uplifting, vital release to date - their first full-length in five years - The Awakening, out 17th March 2023 via Napalm Records. Alongside the announcement KAMELOT have gifted fans with the first single from the album - the unforgettably huge, radio-ready anthem 'One More Flag in the Ground'.

Watch the video to 'One More Flag in the Ground' here: https://youtu.be/sLp1wSGC7Us

The track proves the band's unwavering skill of balancing rock and metal potency, and explores important lyrical themes of fighting physical or mental disease, illness or strife.

KAMELOT vocalist Tommy Karevik offers: "The main focus on this video and song was to have a metaphor for the struggles of fighting disease or illness, whether it being physical or mental. Each step of healing and recovery is another Flag in the Ground. With every little step, one more victory won…"

Having reigned supreme with the release of internationally top-charting melodic metal pinnacles such as The Fourth Legacy (1999), The Black Halo (2005), Silverthorn (2012), Haven (2015, #1 US Hard Rock Albums), and most recently 2018’s acclaimed The Shadow Theory (#2 US Hard Music Albums), The Awakening enters the KAMELOT legacy as their most massive and diverse offering yet - mixing symphonic, gothic, melodic, progressive and power metal styles while yielding some of the heaviest tracks in the band's history.

Pre-order The Awakening here: https://lnk.to/Kamelot_TheAwakening/napalmrecords

KAMELOT are one of few bands in the symphonic genre to fully embrace the dark, but of course, there can be no light without it. Inspiring, engaging lyrical themes of determination, strength, overcoming personal battles and growth are abound on The Awakening, provoked by extreme societal shifts and the overwhelming realization that we have such a brief time to be true to ourselves and live life to its fullest.

With crystal clear modern production helmed by the band and longtime producer Sascha Paeth, plus mixing and mastering by Jacob Hansen of Hansen Studios, KAMELOT’s score-like 13th studio album is accented by guest contributions from the likes of Melissa Bonny (Ad Infinitum) and renowned instrumentalists like violinist Florian Janoske and Grammy nominated, soundtrack-featured cellist Tina Guo

KAMELOT guitarist Thomas Youngblood says: "With The Awakening, we have one of our most diverse albums in years. We've fused elements from progressive, power and gothic metal to symphonic and melodic metal on this one. Working with incredible guest artists from around the music industry and having producer Sascha Paeth and Jacob Hansen mixing gave us another step up on overall sound. This album offers everything to KAMELOT fans and also reaches beyond borders to new metal and hard rock legions.”

Showcasing the incomparable, stage-seasoned vocal acrobatics of Tommy Karevik and increasingly airtight, renowned technical teamwork of guitarist Thomas Youngblood, drummer Alex Landenburg, keyboardist Oliver Palotai and bassist Sean Tibbetts, The Awakening embraces enlivening themes that every listener can relate to. KAMELOT’s intense brand of ultramodern gothic and symphonic theatricality is amplified further and with more emotionality than ever on this inspiring, anticipated addition to the KAMELOT legacy.

More info on Intechnicolour:

Hailing from Brighton, InTechnicolour are a riffy, groovy, rock band with a knack for creating a colourful song or two. Formed in 2015 through a want to play loud music through slightly broken amps, the basis of the band was created.

InTechnicolour are an inventive four-piece comprised of technically gifted musicians, cutting loose and playing music that’s about as far removed from their day jobs as it’s possible to get – and they are doing it better than a good portion of their contemporaries. Landing somewhere between the slack desert-groove of Kyuss and Karma To Burn, the band combine deeply satisfying riffs with a dynamic vocal style, which calls to mind the sounds of Baroness, Alice In Chains and Soundgarden.

InTechnicolour have previously toured across the UK and Europe with the likes of Physics House Band, Black Peaks, Town Portal, Bitch Falcon and Haggard Cat, and are gearing up to hit the road this autumn with dates to be announced very soon.

Influences of rock, hardcore, post-hardcore, sludge, grunge and metal, El Moono's off-kilter and oftentimes mind-bending riffs, emotive songs and expressive lyricism combine to create a sound that’s difficult to pigeonhole.

India's premier solo metal musician Demonstealer signs with Black Lion Records, releases back catalogue

Demonstealer, India's premier death metal musician, has signed with Sweden's Black Lion Records. The artist is re-releasing his back catalogue, with pre-orders available now.

Pre-order from: https://blacklionrecords.bandcamp.com, purchases are expected to ship on 7th April.

Demonstealer comments: "I've been an independent artist for most of my two decade-long career and my entire catalogue as a solo artist has been self-released. For a long time I've been looking for the right partner to work with and I'm lucky to have found a home with Black Lion Records. I'm excited to work with them and be able to deliver to the fans physical copies of the music once again. With their commitment to quality and the music I believe the new album will get the reach and distribution it deserves. I'm excited to join such an esteemed roster of artists on such a prestigious label."

News of Demonstealer's fourth album will be released soon.

Sahil Makhija, better known as Demonstealer, has long been one of the pillars of the heavy metal scene in India. From being at the vanguard of a fledgling metal scene to becoming one of its most visible and respected proponents today, Demonstealer is integral to the growth of the Indian metal community.

In 2000, Demonstealer formed Demonic Resurrection, one of India’s best known and biggest metal bands. Over the last two decades the band has become one of the most recognizable faces of Indian metal, nationally and internationally. Also in 2000 he established India’s first recording studio dedicated solely to metal - a home to all of the country's top metal bands.

Five years later he launched Demonstealer Records – India’s first metal record label. The roster included the best in India’s burgeoning metal scene, and licensed internationally renowned acts, including Behemoth and Dimmu BorgirDemonstealer also founded and ran Resurrection Festival, alongside Demonic Resurrection bassist Husain Bandukwala. For years it was India’s only dedicated extreme metal festival. Needless to say, Demonstealer’s impact on the national scene cannot be overstated.

Aside from the success of Demonic Resurrection (5 studio albums, Metal Hammer Golden God award, multiple tours and festivals across UK and Europe), Demonstealer’s solo career is notable. From his debut album And Chaos Will Reign (2008) to 2021’s The Holocene TerminationSahil has been blazing a thunderous solo trail.

Hungarian metalcore sextet Meristem explore spiritual themes with new single and video 'Saviour'

Hungarian sextet Meristem release their new single 'Saviour' today, along with a slick music video directed by Sándor Bikali. Blurring the lines between progressive metal, metalcore and djent, 'Saviour' speaks of sin, regret, redemption and God. It is the band's first release since the 2022 EP Necrosis, and only their second release as a non-instrumental band.

Stream 'Saviour' here: https://orcd.co/2dqeky1

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/IzEMIIlVacE

Vocalist Tamás Stefán comments: "The song is kind of a dark imagination, where a loved one, a relative, or even our father is descending as God himself, and we feel so guilty and sinful that it makes us pray for death, or some kind of punishment. I think a lot of people have been to this dark state of mind when we feel really bad about the mistakes we made, and we are full of regret. 'Saviour' is about praying for redemption in a really dark way. I want to let people who feel like this know, that they are not alone, we've all been there. If someone struggles to make peace with themselves, they should know that there's always a way out, and we all can learn from the mistakes we make."

Meristem was originally founded by guitarist Bence Barkóczi as an instrumental solo project in late 2017. A renowned guitarist within the Hungarian music scene, Bence won a number of guitar contests including New Guitarist 2018 and Impress Bobo, an Ibanez guitar contest in 2018. Bence also had a top 10 finish in the Mayones-Neural DSP Solo Contest 2021.

As Bence began recruiting band members in the hope of performing in a more conventional lineup, 2020 saw the release of Meristem's debut full-length Dark Phase. The album was mixed by the band's new bassist Soma Schiszler (AWS, Harmed).

Subsequently joined by an additional guitarist, a drummer and two singers, Meristem decided to leave instrumental music behind as they released the Necrosis EP in 2022. While retaining its quintessential electronic music-infused guitar madness, the band's new sound is darker, and heavier.

Meristem are:

Soma Schiszler - Bass
Bence Barkóczi - Guitars, electronics
Márió Szirota - Drums
Tamás Stefán - Vocals
Milán Rockov - Vocals
Gergely Varga - Guitars

Death metal legends OBITUARY release new single 'My Will To Live' and lyric video

Legendary Florida death metal icons OBITUARY return with their highly anticipated new album, Dying of Everything, out 13th January via Relapse Records. Today the band share a lyric video for their new single 'My Will To Live'.

OBITUARY comment: "The time is ALMOST here and we could not be more excited to FINALLY get the new album in the hands of the fans! It’s been a long time coming and we know that you guys have been patiently waiting for this release so we are proud to give one more treat with this next single. 'My Will to Live' was one of the last songs we wrote for this album and it is the one we chose for the lyric video as it’s a classic OBITUARY style song with plenty of groove and a vicious vocal performance by JT and a damn good representation of Dying of Everything as a whole. Hopefully it will wet your taste buds and prepare your ear canal for what you can expect from these Florida boys and the new record! ..Enjoy and here we go!!!!!!"

OBITUARY return to Europe in January/February 2023 with Trivium & Heaven Shall Burn and conclude their European run with a one-off headline show in London at Electric Ballroom on 23rd February.

Dying Of Everything destroys in the time-honoured tradition of early OBITUARY classics Slowly We Rot and Cause of Death while maintaining the killer studio sound that the band has been perfecting in their own studio since 2007’s monstrous Xecutioner’s Return.

Like just about every album in OBITUARY’s vast catalogue, Dying Of Everything is instantly memorable; it’s a skill that OBITUARY have only improved upon over the years. It’s unusual for a band that’s been around since the ’80s to be doing some of their best work in the 2020s, but that’s exactly what OBITUARY have accomplished through their do-it-yourself attitude and relentless touring on a worldwide level. “I think it comes down to passion,” vocalist John Tardy offers. “I say this all the time, but if something’s not fun, I’m not gonna do it. And we’re having more fun than ever.”

Welsh post-hardcore legends Casey reveal new single 'Atone'

The quintet will be making their joyous live return at the following dates:

Jan 12: UK The Fleece Bristol [SOLD OUT]
Jan 13: UK Club Academy Manchester [VENUE UPGRADE]
Jan 14: UK The Garage London [SOLD OUT]
Jan 15: UK The Garage London [EXTRA SHOW ADDED]
Jan 18: DE Kulttempel Oberhausen [EXTRA SHOW ADDED]
Jan 19: DE Kulttempel Oberhausen [SOLD OUT]
Jan 20: DE Conne Island Leipzig [SOLD OUT]

Of the single, vocalist Tom Weaver comments:

"'Atone' returns to the familiar territory of heartache; but concentrates on the nuances of it rather than the crescendo of disintegration. With age, the collective weight of small unspoken feelings grow heavy, leveraging distance that could be consoled with a conversation - but often isn't. Sonically we wanted to position it closer to the raw, impassioned sound that fans often associate with our first record, but also demonstrate a level of maturity and progression that aligns with how the lyrical sentiment has changed over time. Rather than just being angsty and lamenting for the sake of it, we wanted the song to be more considered and refined."

Both 'Atone' and 'Great Grief' will be pressed as a limited edition 7'' single, released 28th April via Hassle Records. Only 1000 copies will be pressed worldwide.

Pre-order from: https://casey.ffm.to/atone

Casey, at its core, was grounded in the notion that music is a labour of love. Without expectation of success, without desire to attain stardom, just a shared yearning to create music - and when this no longer rang true Casey stayed true to themselves, and stepped away.

In late 2018, when Casey announced they were bringing the band to a close, it felt like a premature demise. Their first two LPs - 2016 Love Is Not Enough and 2018’s Where I Go When I Am Sleeping – had firmly established the Welsh five-piece as one of the most exciting bands in Britain’s alternative scene.

Now, four long years later, the band have returned.

‘Great Grief’ is the first song to emerge from Casey's resurrection, a gorgeously gloomy track that sees the band expand on the layered soundscapes that underpinned the songs of Where I Go When I Am Sleeping. Broken, bruised and bloody, and yet shimmering with beautiful defiance.

Quintessential Casey, the band's open hearts dripping with the same kind of pain and trauma that had defined them from the start. Casey don't just replicate the feelings that inspire them - they embody them.

On the video, guitarist Paul Somló comments: "Shell Beach’s live show is at the heart of what this band is since the beginning, so we wanted to show a simple and honest reflection of us doing what we love to do most. The footage is from our live shows over the past 12 months where we played ‘Absolution’ live at our favourite home town venues Budapest Park, A38 Ship and Dürer Kert. Edited and directed Gábor Tóth (Harmed), whose past video credits includes work for Deftones and Volumes, the video includes animation featuring the mystical alien character and solar eclipse from our Solar Flare album cover."

On the new single, vocalist Zoltán Bodóczy comments: "The feeling of being totally left behind, seasoned with the already glimmering hope that one day this will end, because time will solve it anyway. This is also the tragedy of this lyrics, because the memories fade and it is no longer possible to turn to them."

On new album Solar Flare, he adds: "The album lyrics basically deal with a difficult period in my life and I practically processed my confusion in them. Everything's here: breakup, depression, starting again, failure, standing up, new love, unfinished business. From this cavalcade, I was able to highlight some ideas and these served as the basis of the lyrics. We tried to arrange the order of the tracks in such a way that a process emerges from the album as a whole. "
