From Fall To Spring comment:

"We enjoyed working on the songs for RISE. The music revives the sound of the 2000s, which had a deep influence on our generation. With the album at hand we tried to migrate that sound into the modern world we live in today, and we're incredibly happy with the result!"

Formed in Germany, From Fall To Spring are showing off a new standard within the nu-metal scene. The band made a strong first impression with their two self-produced EPs, A Better Tomorrow (2017) and Disconnected (2019), which garnered over one million streams. Their rise continued with singles 'Supernova', 'RISE' and 'BR4INFCK'.

Catching the attention of Arising Empire, From Fall To Spring signed to the label in 2021 and have since released six singles: 'DESTINY', 'BLACK HEART''BARRIERS''BEASTMODE', 'LIGHT UP THE SKY' and 'DRAW THE LINE'. The band's singles have collectively surpassed 11.7 million streams.

Now with over 109,000 followers on TikTok and over 31,000 on Instagram, From Fall To Spring continue to build on their success, having performed at Full ForcePell Mell Festival and more in 2022, followed by a headline tour across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

US punks Poison Ruïn unveil new single 'Pinnacle of Ecstasy' on album release day

We live in a fantasy, but not one of our own choosing. It is a dark and frigid world, animated by power, thrills, and the undying spirit of those who have nothing but each other left in the struggle to get by. This is the world of Poison Ruïn’s Härvest; the only way out is through.

Evoking a rich tapestry of ice-caked forests, peasant revolts, and silent knights, Poison Ruïn stab at the pulsing heart of what it means to live under the permanent midnight of contemporary life. Härvest gazes at the world with a sense of grave seriousness, its stare softened only by the alluring seduction of a dream world’s open-ended possibility. These songs move with a type of uncanny confidence, assembling an array of references to past styles and sensibilities that collapse in on one another, congealing into a truly unique sonic landscape.

Poison Ruïn have constructed a fantasy world of a better future. They do not flinch in the face of darkness or peddle in empty utopian gestures, but rather harness the energies of revenge and comradery to stoke the desire for a better world made material.

Its title track interplays between softly transitory instrumentals and sonic barrages, juxtaposing piano passages against a drawling, sitting-on-the-edge-of-the-world vocal line. Frantic instrumentals race forward with bold highs, shifting effortlessly from urgent funeral marches to subtly power pop inflected choruses. 'Härvest' is a metaphor for workers’ struggle - a bitter calls to arms.

With Härvest, Poison Ruïn align their sonic palette to their godless, medieval-inflected aesthetic symbolism, creating a record which strikes with an assured sense of blackened harmony.

“I’ve always found fantasy tropes to be incredibly evocative,” vocalist/guitarist Mac Kennedy notes, “that said, even though they are a set of symbols that seem to speak to most people of our generation, they are often either apolitical or co-opted for incredibly backwards politics.” With Härvest’s lyrics and imagery, Kennedy reworks fantasy imagery as a series of totems for the downtrodden, stripping it of its escapist tendencies and retooling it as a rich metaphor for the collective struggle over our shared reality: “Instead of knights in shining armor and dragons, it’s a peasant revolt,” he explains, “I’m all for protest songs, but with this band I’ve found that sometimes your message can reach a greater audience if you imbue it with a certain interactive, almost magical realist element.”

These are not superficial or self-aggrandising political statements. Rather, Poison Ruïn stares into the abyss of present-day life with a sober and empathetic outlook, portraying our cracked reality as a complex and difficult to parse miasma of competing desires.

Poison Ruin will tour extensively this year. After a successful run through the Southwest USA, SXSW and a sold out hometown PHL release show last night, they set off on a full EU / UK run including a performance at Roadburn. See below for a full list of dates.

Philadelphia’s Poison Ruïn first emerged in April of 2020 with their eponymous EP, which was followed shortly by a second eponymous EP the following February, both self-released. While they share a certain affinity for rough-around-the-edges, lo-fidelity stones with their compatriots Devil Master and Sheer Mag, Poison Ruïn want things bleaker. The up-tempo guitar heroics of their first two EPs (which were collectively released as a self-titled LP in February of 2021) have been dragged through the trenches, emerging as a heavy morass of breathless gloom. With Härvest, Poison Ruïn have constructed a richly chilling fable out of modern living. Their tale is as lurid as it is seductive, as much a promising fantasy as it is a dreary portrait of reality itself.

Poison Ruïn’s Relapse debut Härvest was mastered by Arthur Rizk. It sees its release on 14th April alongside the reissue of their eponymous 2021 LP which has established the band as one of punk and the underground’s newest beloved treasures. Poison Ruïn will tour extensively this year. They’ve confirmed several U.S. dates including SXSW, NYC and a hometown PHL release show. In April they head to EU / UK for a full run including a performance at Roadburn.

UK metal quintet VEILED releases new video 'The Discovering (I)' and release new EP The Black Rite

VEILED are one of the UK’s newest forces of sonic brutality, delivering a blistering assault of modern metal, carving out their own unique heavy sound.

Today they unveil their dynamic new EP The Black Rite, released via Seek and Strike, with their huge new video 'The Discovering (I)'.

Watch the video here: https://bit.ly/3obHCZV

VEILED commented: "For The Black Rite we wanted to take everything that we had done before, musically and visually, to the next level. Everything we create is rooted in the universe we’re crafting, this helps us when creating the songs from the ground up, trying to tell a story, musically first and then building upon it from there, lyrically and with visuals. When writing we always write visually, thinking what we would put over this song cinematically, even if there doesn’t end up being a music video to that track.

"We wanted a name that summed up the entire EP.
The Black Rite is a ritual taken from the ancient book within our music videos, so it only felt fitting to name the EP this, as the Rite is what summons “Ж”, the being from our stories. The Black Rite is what brought us together as a collective.

"All our lyrics build upon the stories that we are telling, be that explaining a certain characters feelings or explaining their intentions, or expanding on the back story. We have so many different versions of certain lines and lyrics and sift through each to find which ones fit best and have the best flow, while still having meaning. Sometimes we will have a story and see which song best fits the concept to tell it with, sometimes we will let the music completely dictate what story we tell.

"As a whole, we are so proud of this EP as everything just came together so organically and smoothly. We feel it's sonically and visually the best product we have produced together and is a perfect introduction to us!"

Global doom supergroup MMXX release The Next Wave EP via Candlelight Records

Global doom metal supergroup MMXX have released their new EP The Next Wave today via Candlelight Records. The band have also dropped two videos for remaining tracks 'Echoes feat. Alicia Nurho' and 'Isolation feat. Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow the Sun)'.

Check out the video, ‘Echoes feat. Alicia Nurho':  https://youtu.be/Nhtcb_Frpfg

Check out the video 'Isolation feat. Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow the Sun)': https://youtu.be/WepT-gaGWQs

Streaming and purchase options here: https://mmxx.lnk.to/TheNextWave

Born during the initial worldwide lockdown and incubated as the seasons passed, doom metal supergroup MMXX began as the sound of global isolation. Not unlike the pandemic itself, MMXX has long harboured an unseen chapter: The Next Wave. The full three song EP includes the metallic and driving 'Isolation' featuring Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow the Sun), and the melancholic and ethereal 'Echoes' featuring Alicia Nurho. The Next Wave EP will be released on vinyl by Candlelight Records and like its 2022 full-length predecessor Sacred Cargo, contains stunning artwork from Portuguese fine-art photographer Henri Prestes.

Comments the band: "The spirit of MMXX is a profound expression of sonder, realising that each passerby on the street has a complex life and story just as rich and intricate as your own. The pandemic is the chapter of this story we've told, through the voices and words of collaborators across the globe. The Next Wave contains three songs, unique from one another but together forming a powerful epilogue for this entire endeavor greater than their parts. Huge thanks to Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow the Sun), Mick Moss (Antimatter), and Alicia Nurho for contributing your talents."

At the core of MMXX is Andrea Chiodetti (ex-The Foreshadowing) on guitars and keys, Jesse Haff on drums (Daylight Dies and Gökböri) and Egan O’Rourke on bass (Daylight Dies). Together they channelled inspiration for composition after composition to collaborate with a geographically, culturally, and stylistically diverse collection of celebrated vocalists and musicians from around the world.

MMXX’s debut offering, Sacred Cargo (2022), displayed the project’s signature multifarious approach to doom metal with new EP, The New Wave, building upon the foundations laid by its predecessor with a newfound conviction.

Finnish symphonic extreme metallers Shade Empire announce new album Sunholy

Finnish symphonic extreme metallers Shade Empire have announced their sixth studio album, Sunholy, will be released on 15th September via Candlelight Records. Ahead of the release the band have unveiled their captivating new video for first single, 'In Amongst the Woods'.

Check out ‘In Amongst The Woods’ here: https://youtu.be/LcOATNVijkA

Pre-save Sunholy here: https://CandlelightRecords.lnk.to/ShadeEmpireSunholy

Formed in Kuopio, Finland in 1999, Shade Empire have developed their own genre, an unholy fusion of symphonic melody interwoven with black and death metal overtones, emotionally rich vocals and tight orchestral instrumentation. New album Sunholy features nine towering tracks of atmospheric beauty, barbed with unspeakably brutal guitar patterns, multi-layered beautiful synth walls, devastating drum parts, complex bass assaults and unique vocals that are delivered straight from the jaws of hell. Fans of Dimmu Borgir, Marduk, Septicflesh and Dark Tranquility will find something here.

Comments the band: "Six years after the release of Poetry of the Ill-Minded, we are pleased to present you with our new album Sunholy. We are very excited to let our fans hear what we have been up to. The record is brutality and beauty in perfect harmony."

Mixed by Chris Edrich (Devin Townsend, Leprous, Alcest) and mastered by Pierrick Noël (Klone), with Fleshgod Apocalypse's Francesco Ferrini responsible for the orchestrations and Andy Reich at Collapse Of Art completing the artwork, Sunholy is a long-aged piece of art and labour of love. Embodying the most comprehensive Shade Empire effort to date, the lyrics are thematically inspired by the Jonestown tragedy, a mass murder-suicide of the Peoples Temple cult, but there's also a fuller contemplation and exploration of the current state of the world.

After a long-endured absence, Shade Empire have returned as grandiose experts in their craft, with an astounding soundtrack to Hell's gates opening and a band relishing being at the top of their game.

Henry Hämäläinen – vocals
Juha Sirkkiä – guitars and keys
Eero Mantere – bass guitar

German doom metallers Moor release second single/video 'Breath Like Nails' (Blood Blast Distribution / Believe Digital)

Hamburg doom quintet Moor have unveiled their heart-wrenching second single/video, 'Breath Like Nails,' which is taken from debut album Heavy Heart, set for release on 17th May via Believe Digital.

Watch the video for 'Breath Like Nails' here: https://youtu.be/UMzV8fvpy88

Stream the single and pre-save Heavy Heart here: https://moor.bfan.link/breath-like-nails

Vocalist Ercüment Kasalar commented on 'Breath Like Nails': "Sometimes betrayal is not a single knife stab in the back but painful stitches with rusty nails over a longer period of time. Whilst you try to move on from those that you thought you could trust, it's like you can still feel their breath like nails on your neck."

The colossal sound of Heavy Heart, Moor's first album, is created in a vulnerable place. Loud and scratchy, desolate and intimidating, full of despair and an intimate, almost overpowering sense of yearning. And slow, draggingly slow like the shuffling step of death. "I love to move in atmospheric walls of sound, to sink into them and become one with them," band founder Ercüment Kasalar explains his preference for doom. "I can't do that in fast music, it's just too hectic for my relaxed mindset."

Heavy Heart was written and recorded by the original line-up featuring singer and guitarist Kasalar, guitarists Ben Laging and David Kaiser, bassist Christian Smukal and drummer Chad Popple. All of them have earned their spurs in other bands or projects and have appeared with Tephra, Sport, The Ocean, Gorge Trio or rha

Moor's sound is closer to Omega Massif or Neurosis than to Sabbath stoner clones, regurgitated and dragged into the light from deep within, that primal place where you only go when you really have to. And Moor had to, within weeks of recording, two band members were diagnosed with cancer – Ben Laging and Christian Smukal. Tragically in 2022, co-founder and bassist Smukal lost his battle, tearing a huge gap in the band's structure. Heavy Heart is his farewell letter, his mournful legacy.

"For me, it's a gift to be a part of Christian's last recordings," says guitarist David Kaiser. "The sessions together before we went into the studio were very inspiring." Kasalar adds, "Everything we did during that time, all the strokes of fate we went through together formed this heavy heart, and it will keep beating." In the current line-up, bassist Ralph Ulrich (Kavrila) as well as drummer Elinor Lüdde (Corecass) complete a band that operates where it really hurts.

There was never any question of not continuing the band. Because it was Christian's wish, as Ben Laging emphasises. And now we all can hear this Heavy Heart, this gnarling, this hurting, this serious album serving as the last memory of an old friend and companion but at the same time the beginning of something new, something big.

Heavy Heart is neither overly brutal nor transfiguredly beautiful. It's an album akin to this alluring, cruel experiment called life. It can be tough, certainly not for cowards. Instead, it's for people who face life and who know how to savour it despite all of its heaviness. Catharsis through pain. This is Moor

Noir pop quartet The Nightmares release new video ft. Will Gould (Creeper)

Welsh noir pop outfit The Nightmares have unveiled their new video 'Murder Season', featuring Will Gould of Creeper.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/mha8r5eCyTc

The massive, haunting new video is from the band's debut Séance, out now via Venn Records (UK and Europe) and Equal Vision Records (USA and RoW).

Order Séance here: https://thenightmares.lnk.to/seance

Vocalist Adam Parslow comments: "'Murder Season’ is a tale of two serial killers on the run. They simply cannot live without each other and are willing to do whatever it takes to stay together. This dark and brooding song tells of aching love and distant regret.

"When writing this song, we just knew that
Will Gould’s vocals would fit perfectly and so we personally reached out to collaborate. Luckily, Will was incredibly enthusiastic and we really believe the result a match made in some heavenly hell. It was meant to be."

Fresh from their support of post-hardcore heavyweights Casey, The Nightmares will be touring Séance at the following shows:

Co-headline with Miss Vincent:

Apr 19: Southampton Joiners
Apr 20: Newcastle Little Buildings
Apr 21: Leeds Boom
Apr 22: Newport The Westgate Hotel
Apr 23: Kingston Fighting Cocks

Forming in 2018, The Nightmares are as inspired by shared musical passions - The Cure, Placebo, Interpol - as they are by the art of seances themselves. Centred on the local music scene of Newport, South Wales, the quartet quickly embarked on their first UK tours in 2019, including supporting local legends Holding Absence. The Nightmares have also toured with Tiger Army, Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties, Bleak Soul, and supported Salem and Bad Nerves, among others.

Plans for future touring, along with the rest of the world, were derailed by the COVID pandemic. Instead, then, The Nightmares turned to writing music and experimenting with seances - and what unfolded during these long nights had a lasting effect on the band.

The noir pop quartet's recurring themes of death, love and mourning have already chimed with fans and critics alike, including early support from The i Paper, Clash, Kerrang! and more. Elements of The Cure, Salem and Interpol clash and collide throughout Séance, and listen out for a special guest feature from Creeper / Salem's Will Gould on track six, 'Murder Season'.
