To Kill Achilles announce new album & release video for new single '...and I'm an Addict'

To Kill Achilles have announced their new album Recovery, due for release on 11th August via Arising Empire. Through years of embracing honesty and channelling hardships into expression, the post-hardcore/alt-rock quartet are ready to embark on their next chapter with their upcoming full-length.

To Kill Achilles have also released a video for their new single '...and I'm an Addict'.

Check out the video for '...and I'm an Addict' here: https://youtu.be/mTb1hsGiDDc

Pre-order Recovery here: https://arisingempire.com/recovery

The band comment on the new album:

“This record is the antithesis of the last. For far too long we’ve told the story of mental degradation without hope. Becoming completely drained repeating the same lines of how it hurts to be here. Recovery deals with courage, control, acceptance, and ultimately the end goal that anyone in this circumstance seeks… the other side. This record is the journey of getting better, taking control of your life and the experiences around you.”

Consisting of 11 tracks, Recovery is full of the same ferocity we've come to expect from To Kill Achilles, with sincere lyrics depicting real life experiences. The music is a mixture of aggression, sadness, hope and beauty, with soaring choruses and tear-jerking storytelling that promotes the journey towards positivity.

To Kill Achilles have extensively toured across the UK, the majority of Europe and Russia with bands such as We Came As Romans, Counterparts, While She Sleeps, I Killed The Prom Queen, Betraying The Martyrs and many more.

See To Kill Achilles at Summer Breeze in Germany this August.

UK alt-metal upstarts VEXED announce new album Negative Energy, stream new single

One of the UK's most exciting new talents - the alt-metal outfit VEXED - will release their hotly-anticipated new record Negative Energy on 23rd June via Napalm Records.

Bursting onto the scene with their highly-lauded 2021 debut, the crushing Hertfordshire trio depicts the violence they've gathered since their first release. A soundtrack of brutality - chaotic, traumatic and based on the band’s most gruelling personal experiences.

Crushing new single 'Anti-Fetish' is the first harbinger of Negative Energy, which you can stream here:

Stream 'Anti-Fetish' here: https://lnk.to/VEXED-NegativeEnergy
Watch 'Anti-Fetish' here: https://youtu.be/BrVx05brvIk
Pre-order the album here: https://lnk.to/VEXED-NegativeEnergy/napalmrecords

The huge new track fearless breaks in with an all-consuming, panic-stricken lead riff, making a stand against lazy comparisons, and hate in the music business. Blistering with disorderly intensity, VEXED don’t mince words with pure honesty and all-consuming instrumental strength.

The band comment on the new single: "We wanted to start with a huge riff and a strong message. 'Anti-Fetish' is us confronting the constant comparisons and ungrounded hate that bands receive. It’s become completely accepted in the scene to cross the line of constructive criticism and just dive bomb into hatred and prejudice. This song is us setting the record straight by calling out the blatant discrimination."

Negative Energy
is the pinnacle of VEXED's musicianship, with gripping, profound and brave lyricism. Instead of opting for the forced positivity many of their contemporaries demonstrate, the Hertfordshire trio channel every ounce of their Negative Energy into these 13 tracks - recharging themselves for an uphill battle.

The band comment: "We are so proud to present to you our second album. Since our first release, we have each endured traumatic experiences, surrounded by death, betrayal, pain and grief. In order to find any strength, we first had to accept that we weren’t okay, then take our trauma and face it head on, sharing our vulnerability, fears and weaknesses. Instead of forcing ourselves to try and be positive we put all our negative energy into the album in order to begin our own repair and to overcome."

Napalm Records

VEXED formed in 2019, consisting of vocalist Megan Targett, guitarist Jay Bacon, drummer Willem Mason-Geraghty and bassist Al Harper. The band quickly made a name for themselves across the UK metal scene with their hard-hitting sound and dynamic live performances.

Turning heads with their debut singles - including the fearsome 'Elite' featuring Thy Art Is Murder’s CJ McMahon - VEXED quickly created a palpable underground buzz. In 2020, they signed with the independent label Napalm Records, and released their debut full-length album, Culling Culture in May the following year.

Culling Culture features ten tracks that showcase VEXED's signature sound, which combines punishing breakdowns, technical guitar riffs, and Megan Targett's fierce vocals. The album's lyrics explore themes of societal issues such as mental health and social justice and have been praised for their honesty and relatability.

The album was a commercial success and received widespread critical acclaim. VEXED's live shows have also garnered a reputation for being intense and energetic, with the band earning support slots with notable acts such as Spiritbox and In Flames, among others.

Now VEXED look to their second album, to be released 23rd June via Napalm Records. A punishing listen, from haunting intro track 'PTSD', which sets the stage of dread ahead of the carnage to come, all the way through 'Lay down your flowers' featuring Alpha Wolf vocalist Lochie Keogh and intense finale 'Nepotism'.

Like the best bands, VEXED on Negative Energy blends fury with emotion. 'Default' displays lead singer Megan Targett's high-soaring clean vocals juxtaposed against her menacing deep growls, while the album's most emotional offering, 'It's Not The End', serves as a magnificent dedication to a loved one passing away, truly manifesting their legacy.

A stunning, devastating musical conduit - Negative Energy ventilates VEXED's pain-stricken burdens and breathes life into their fresh approach, delivered with a thunderous vengeance.

Track listing:

1. PTSD
2. Anti-Fetish
3. We don't talk about it
4. X my <3 (Hope to die)

The Used release brand new single 'Numb'

Rock icons The Used have shared their brand new single 'Numb'. The track is taken from their highly-anticipated album Toxic Positivity, out 19th May via Hassle Records Big Noise.

The track tackles the all-too-familiar sensation of feeling too much and nothing at all simultaneously. The reoccurring line – “does anybody else feel numb?” delivered in Bert McCracken’s passionate voice – is as much a reminder as it is a question, searching for reassurance that we aren’t alone in this feeling.

Check out 'Numb' here: https://youtu.be/PNbgnFSS_vM

Stream/purchase 'Numb' here: https://theused.ffm.to/numb

When asked, McCracken draws a parallel between the band’s 2020 song 'To Feel Something' and ‘Numb’: “I just wanna feel something. Anything is better than this. I just wanna feel something. No different from anyone else. Wanna waste my time but not like this at all. I just wanna feel something. No different from anyone else.”

“Cause I feel numb. Does anybody else feel numb?”

'Numb' is the first single from The Used’s new album Toxic Positivity. Over 20 years into their career, Toxic Positivity is everything fans have come to know and love from The Used – straightforward, in-your-face, destructive, and vulnerable all at once.

Pre-order/pre-save Toxic Positivity here: https://theused.ffm.to/toxicpositivity

The Used have also recently released two no-holds-barred singles, 'Fuck You' and 'People Are Vomit'.

The band recently announced that they will be hitting the road in the US with Pierce The Veil this summer on the Creative Control Tour. The epic co-headliner kicks off on 23rd May in Austin, TX, making stops across the US and Canada, before wrapping up in Phoenix, AZ on 2nd July. Support will come from Don Broco, Deathbyromy (23rd May – 10th June), and girlfriends (12th June – 1st July). Visit The Used's website for a full list of tour dates and more details: https://theused.net/

The Used vocalist Bert McCracken shares “We are more than excited for our first tour with Pierce the Veil. We've been friends for a long time and I know this will be a tour to remember. We can’t wait for you to hear some new music! We are so f*cking stoked and will see you there!”

Established in 2000, The Used were brought to life and have since released a collection of albums that pioneered the scene of emo rock. High-energy live shows, gut-wrenching relatable lyrics, and melodies that blended pop sensibility and hard rock was the perfect combination to make an everlasting impression on fans globally.

The Used released their ninth studio album, Heartwork (Deluxe), in 2021 via Big Noise. The extended album features 11 never-before-heard tracks that were all written during the original Heartwork (2020) sessions. A variety of collaborators including producer John Feldmann, co-writer Mark Hoppus (Blink-182), guest artists Travis Barker, Jason Aalon Butler (Fever 333), Caleb Shomo (Beartooth) and more helped deliver this now 27-track album, that simultaneously showcases what made The Used emerge as one of the most prolific bands of the early 2000s, as well as what has kept them at the forefront of the genre ever since. The band locked in #4 spots on both the Top Alternative and Top Hard Rock Album charts, #11 on Top Rock Album charts, as well as landing in the Billboard Top 200 at the #87 spot.

Death metal legends Obituary release new video 'Dying Of Everything'

Obituary comment: “As we are working on the setlist, rehearsing the songs and gearing up for our US tour, the band is proud to unveil the new music video for the title track of our new album. Filmed during our last European tour, we love the fact that it is footage shot night after night in multiple cities and countries. This 'Dying of Everything' music video is just the way we like it…live, raw and real.”

Obituary begin their spring North America tour this Friday, 28th April through late May. Support will be provided by Immolation, Blood Incantation and Ingrown

Obituary recently released a new spatial audio version of their 2023 critically acclaimed album, Dying of Everything. The album, available as a new Dolby Atmos mix, is streaming everywhere that supports spatial audio and compatible devices including Apple Music, Tidal & Amazon Music.

In a new step forward for unforgiving death metal, Dying of Everything's spatial audio mix allows for more immersion, providing an advanced surround sound experience.

Dying Of Everything destroys in the time-honoured tradition of early Obituary classics Slowly We Rot and Cause of Death while maintaining the killer studio sound that the band has been perfecting in their own studio since 2007’s monstrous Xecutioner’s Return.

Like just about every album in Obituary's vast catalogue, Dying Of Everything is instantly memorable; it’s a skill that Obituary have only improved upon over the years. It’s unusual for a band that’s been around since the ’80s to be doing some of their best work in the 2020s, but that’s exactly what Obituary have accomplished through their do-it-yourself attitude and relentless touring on a worldwide level. “I think it comes down to passion,” vocalist John Tardy offers. “I say this all the time, but if something’s not fun, I’m not gonna do it. And we’re having more fun than ever.”

The Devil's Trade's latest release 'The Call of the Iron Peak' can be listened to in full here

The Iron Peak; a mystical place where one once found his long lost peace, total silence and home. Where he would return when his time had come to pass away. A place that has become a materialisation of everlasting freedom cut from society and all earthly struggles. As ancient beliefs says heaven is a place where we find peace with our loved ones in life; the Iron Peak is some kind of heaven.

Listen to the call of the Iron Peak, as it is calling for you to find your true self in a world you want to be isolated from. It is calling for you to make peace with yourself, with the inevitable end. It is calling for Hungarian singer-songwriter Dávid Makó, who redefined himself as The Devil's Trade a few years ago, embarking on a long journey with his deeply personal and dark, sometimes doom-infused folk songs.

Be it the folk of the Appalachians, the tales of Hungarian and Transylvanian traditionals, The Devil's Trade fuses his past of metal and his roots laying deep in the folk songs of his immediate surroundings.

Very much like how the Iron Peak, a mountaintop both metaphorical and literal is calling for Makó, he is calling for you to share his rituals of loves and hopes, lost and found along the pilgrimage of his. It is after all, the journey itself that matters the most, and how you adapt. From basements in his hometown of Budapest, to all corners of Europe, stages small and big, The Devil's Trade has been relentlessly walking on his path finding his voice and calling, and that is to let listeners to glimpse into himself through his heart-wrenching songs.

DeathCollector stream new single 'Mental Hedonist'

British / Irish death metal group DeathCollector have released their vicious new single 'Mental Hedonist', from their forthcoming debut album, Death's Toll, to be released 23rd June via Prosthetic Records.

Featuring members of Bolt Thrower, Memoriam, Ashen Crown, Zealot Cult and more, DeathCollector's new single can be heard here:

Stream: Apple | Spotify | TIDAL | Deezer | Bandcamp

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/ycbCqpCbvbU

Pre-order Death's Toll here.

DeathCollector's vocalist Kieran Scott comments: "We are excited to show this side to our sound with 'Mental Hedonist'! This song is about addictive narcissism, beauty industry standards, toxic fashion industry, projected delusion and forcibly altering one's self mentally and physically to fit an image forced upon you against your own will, health and wellbeing and ultimately becoming addicted to being not yourself and gaining twisted escapist pleasure from it, this song has a more modern edge to it with our signature DeathCollector sound. we want people reflecting upon the things we do to ourselves sold to us by charlatans delusion of betterment that have a fatal toll on our minds and body."

Formed in 2021 as little more than a way to pass the time playing cover songs until life creaked back to normality, DeathCollector’s debut EP, Time’s Up, elicited considerable interest in the UK underground and caught the ear of Prosthetic Records. With their roots firmly planted in the scene that has supported them from the word go, DeathCollector are ready to branch out and show the rest of the globe exactly what they’re made of.

With a Bolt Thrower member in their ranks it would be all too easy to lean on the past and rely on name recognition and re-hashing a tried and true formula, but DeathCollector yearns for something more. Aiming to capture the fervent brutality of their live performance on record despite the physical distance between them, Andy Whale (Bolt Thrower/Darkened) decamped to Fordhouse studios to record the drums. Over in Ireland, Mick Carey (Zealot Cult) laid down his guitar parts with engineer Ciaran Culhane, whilst vocals and bass were recorded in home studios in the UK. The record was mixed and mastered by Gord Olson with the intention of creating something that was true to their principles: raw and unbridled.

The result is Death’s Toll; nine tracks of death metal that confidently bridges the old school with a more modern sound without losing any of its organic rawness. The hardcore and punk that influenced the original roots of death metal in the UK scene are flowing through the veins of the band, rounding out a sound that is as gritty as it is authentic.

Lyrically the album traverses the darkest contemplations on mortality; willful self destruction, addiction, and the mental and physical toll that life takes on us until death. DeathCollector sweep up the rot, filth, shame and weakness of humanity and funnel it into their scathing death metal offerings.

Mick Carey - Lead/Rhythm Guitar
Lee Cummings - Bass

Oath Of Cranes (ex-Celtic Frost) celebrate debut album release; drop new video

Oath Of Cranes - the new band from ex-Celtic Frost drummer Franco Sesa and ex-Celtic Frost guitarist Erol Ünala - turn doom metal on its head.

Today, 21st April, they celebrate their debut album The Unsung Mantras, released via Klang Machine Records.

The group have also released the video for their track 'Krodhana', which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/NmySPR-WGn0

Oath Of Cranes will make their live premiere with special guests Tar Pond (ft. former Coroner drummer Marky Edelmann) at Undertown, Geneva, on 27th May: Tickets / More info

Franco Sesa combines his passion for eastern traditional music — particularly the mantra chants of Tibetan monks — with his love for hard rock to create a genuinely innovative wall of sound.

From meditation gongs, Buddhist chants and bagpipe-evoking Tibetan horns to walls of distorted guitars, Sesa’s trademark heavy-hitting drumming, and the haunting desperation in Fabrizio Merico’s vocals: the incredible energy created by combining in-your-face doom metal with influences from Eastern music and Shamanic cultures creates goosebumps throughout The Unsung Mantras.

Following a years-long creative process following Sesa’s departure from Celtic Frost (and eventually seeing his reunion with fellow ex-Celtic Frost warrior Erol Ünala), The Unsung Mantras is widely available now.

The songs on The Unsung Mantras are dark and disturbing, yet beautiful and healing: traditional instruments and sounds from Asian heritage and cultures with shamanic roots, including singing bowls, horns and Tibetan monks' chants, support the powerful and innovative metal celebrated on the album. The result vividly underscores the album's Daoism-inspired concept and the band's broader cultural influences, such as the choice of Sanskrit for song titles, imagery inspired by the Sadhu tradition, and the tribute to the uplifting virtues described by the iconography of Hindu deities. The Oath Of the Cranes is a promise: good death follows a good life.

The record was produced by Oath Of Cranes, engineered at Switzerland's New Sound Studio by Tommy Vetterli (Coroner, Eluveitie, Cellar Darling & more), and mastered at Sweden's Fascination Street Studios by Tony Lindgren (Sepultura, Kreator, Witchcraft & more).

Oath Of Cranes are:
Franco Sesa (ex-Celtic Frost): Drums, songwriting, lyrics and concept
Erol Ünala (ex-Celtic Frost and Apollyon Sun): Guitar, sampling and drones
Chris Tragianidis: Rhythm and lead guitar, bass and keyboards

Belgian punks Captain Kaiser release new single 'GOODNIGHT'

Belgian punks Captain Kaiser are delighted to release their new single 'GOODNIGHT', out now via [PIAS].

'GOODNIGHT', produced by Jay Maas (Defeater, Title Fight, Death Of A Nation), can be streamed here: https://captainkaiser.ffm.to/goodnight

Check out the video for 'GOODNIGHT' here: https://youtu.be/tubbrjrSvgM

As long as life is doubtful and fraught with sorrow, people will find a way to sing themselves out of their own sorrow. It is exactly what Captain Kaiser’s Sascha Vansant does on 'GOODNIGHT', a touching song about how to wave your mother goodbye for the last time. Halfway, the post-punk banger turns into a resolving salute like Sum 41 once wrote by the dozens.

One stage at a time, Captain Kaiser have conquered the punk scene while driving the van, celebrating life and making the walls drip with sweat.

The band have grown, but that word means more than bigger rooms or stages. It refers to a new stage in their musical development, a level of emotional depth they’ve never explored before. Captain Kaiser sound more raw and pure than ever, without having lost their knack for catchy melodies.

After losing his mother four years ago, frontman Sascha Vansant only now screams what he couldn’t tell his mates for so long, with lyrics that soothe the soul as much as they cut it like a knife. You hear him search for every word, and at the end, the catharsis is deserved. It’s easy to imagine how he looks up to the sky, his band giving it all one more time in a rare euphoric moment.
