Acclaimed UK metallic hardcore troupe Ithaca have released their incredible new video, 'Fluorescent', alongside the news of their debut US tour.

Sep 24 New York St Vitus
Sep 26 Washington DC Pie Shop
Sep 27 Raleigh School Kids Records
Sep 28 Atlanta 529

Oct 01 Austin Spiderhouse
Oct 03 Tucson 191 Toole
Oct 04 Los Angeles 1720
Oct 05 Anaheim Chain Reaction
Oct 06 San Francisco Neck of the Woods
Oct 07 Sacramento Aftershock Festival

The band comment: "Touring the US has been on our band bucket list since we started, and US outlets like Pitchfork and Revolver have always been incredibly kind to us, so we can’t tell you how excited we are.

"'Fluorescent' is the song on the album that comes from the deepest well of pain and raw sadness, but is one of the easiest to listen to. To reflect that, we made a video referencing pop singers of the 70s, who masked their trauma in the softest focus. A huge thank you to our guest MC,
Ed Gamble, who’s generously supported this band and what we stand for for years."

A glitter-covered nailbomb, Ithaca seamlessly blend the brutality of Relapse Records metalcore with blackgaze, 90s industrial metal, 70s prog and even tinges of 80s power pop. Their influences stretch beyond the musical - this album comes with a clear vision and aesthetic: drawing from members’ different ancestral heritage, queer/non-conforming identities and iconic figures in avant-garde, new wave and post-punk culture.

Their second album They Fear Us is the sound of a band healing from trauma - standing in their own, unapologetic voice. Furious and wildly inventive while also being more coherent and accessible, this album introduces Ithaca to a wider audience than they’ve ever had before. In the words of the band: ‘those who oppose us; your sins will catch up to you. You will fear us’.

Ithaca's 2019 lauded debut The Language of Injury was followed by their early 2020 tour with Grammy-nominated indie-rock band Big Thief, starting at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.

Press support from The Guardian, Pitchfork, BBC R1, Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, Rock Sound, Revolver, Decibel, BrooklynVegan, and performances with Bleeding Through, Jamie Lenman, Anaal Nathrakh, The Number Twelve Looks Like You, at Boomtown Fair and ArcTanGent Festival position Ithaca as a great hope in the future of new UK music. Ithaca have also appeared on Ed Gamble’s Spotify podcast ‘Lifers’, Sky News and BBC3. As well as their debut US tour this year, Ithaca will be performing at Roskilde, Ieperfest, Brutal Assault, and 2000trees, with a special They Fear Us in full one-off performance at London's The Dome on 25th November.

The Devil's Trade commented on the album and track: "'Vidékek vannak idebenn' is the first song I have ever written in Hungarian. As usual it has a deeply personal layer but it also has another layer that is about the typical Eastern European political struggle: ignoring our history we make the same mistakes again and again till a point where our world gets so rotten and corrupted the only escape seems to be hiding in our own inner worlds. Luckily my inner world is flourishing more than ever."

liminal
/ˈlɪmɪnl/
adjective
TECHNICAL

  1. occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold.

"I was in the liminal space between past and present"

It is of no surprise liminal space is a key element in the next phase of The Devil’s Trade’s fourth album, Vidékek vannak idebenn (a title that loosely translates to There Are Landscapes Within) as Dávid Makó, the man behind the moniker has indeed arrived to a threshold in his career, where the phase starting with his self-released debut Those Miles We Walked Alone ended after his latest album The Call of the Iron Peak. The concept of liminal space itself is a not necessarily pleasant state of mind where you left behind your old life, but new doors haven’t exactly opened just yet.

As Makó states "The process my first three records pieced together ended, that was no path for me to take anymore, but to take a step forward I had to make decisions I wasn’t inspired enough to make." – and from this frustrated, sort of paralyzed state of floating, a new incarnation of The Devil’s Trade was born and so was Vidékek vannak idebenn along with it.

While still true to his solo artist roots, delivering gut-wrenching melodies of darkness and beauty on his own, Makó needed an expansion to his universe. With the addition of long-time friend and former bandmate Gáspár Binder on drums and a live keyboard player, he finally took the much needed step forward and ‘Vidékek vannak idebenn’ portrays the next sonic phase of The Devil’s Trade.

A soundtrack to the next phase of his life. A soundtrack to souls stuck in liminal space, hungry to adapt to new realities and to grow further, outside the boundaries which so often shackle them.

DIETH: Death-thrash band featuring David Ellefson, Guilherme Miranda and Michał Łysejko release new single

Death-thrash force DIETH - featuring the iconic line-up of Grammy Award winning bassist David Ellefson (ex-Megadeth), Swedish Grammy nominated guitarist/vocalist Guilherme Miranda (ex-Entombed A.D.) and drummer Michał Łysejko (ex-Decapitated) - have released their new single 'Walk With Me Forever'.

The single is a new glimpse of their highly anticipated debut full-length To Hell And Back, out 2nd June 2023 via Napalm Records.

Watch 'Walk With Me Forever' here: https://youtu.be/GZCTZNY98-o

Pre-order To Hell And Back here: https://lnk.to/DIETH-ToHellAndBack/napalmrecords

The touching ballad holds very special meaning on this US Memorial Day week, as it explores the intense loss of a loved one and their memory providing the strength to carry on.

The track's haunting accompanying music video, also out today, shows David Ellefson narrating a story of love and loss, directed by Oskar Szramka and starring notable Polish actors Jan Napieralski and Agnieszka Goździewicz.

Ellefson states about the track: "We've all experienced loss and grief at some point in our life, and this song expresses that feeling as well as the gratitude we find when accepting, letting go and carrying the beauty of that person's life with us as we move on."

Produced by DIETH with mixing and mastering by Tomasz Zed Zalewski at Zed Studios in Chechło, Poland, debut album To Hell And Back represents new beginnings; musically, lyrically and for the band members themselves. Weaving a sinister thread of unrelenting tech-steeped death metal, rapid thrash bangers and even boasting the first ever lead vocal performance by David Ellefson on a track, the members of DIETH have pushed beyond the stereotypes of their former genres to create an unexpected yet charismatic and dynamic new sonic footprint.

DIETH set the metalsphere ablaze when they dropped their debut single 'In The Hall of the Hanging Serpents', in mid-2022. Met with acclaim from both fans and media alike, the surprise track marked the exciting resurgence of these three renowned musicians, coming together as a new musical force after years of silence.

Opening with an entrancing acoustic introduction, first track 'To Hell And Back' quickly slams in with a punishing death metal attack. Tracks like 'Dead Inside' and 'Don’t Get Mad … Get Even!' showcase the thrash-infused side of DIETH, while death metal anthems such as 'Wicked Disdain' and 'The Mark of Cain' lean diabolical with hair-raising solos and breakneck paced rhythms backed by crushing walls of aggression. Standout 'Free Us All' flirts with the record’s pace by blending winding passages and aggression with throwback bass-driven interludes with psychedelic production, followed by 'Heavy Is The Crown' - a slow and low grinder featuring stoner metal groove, a swaying chorus and a blues-infused solo. Pensive, powerful ballad 'Walk With Me Forever' showcases David Ellefson’s lead vocal performance debut, singing about the intense loss of a loved one and their memory providing the strength to carry on.

Ending with intensely beautiful 'Severance', To Hell And Back proves that DIETH isn’t just another side project or “supergroup”, but rather the collective reincarnation of three renowned heavy metal forces who, by harnessing their own pain and conflict, have delivered an exciting next chapter no metal fan will want to miss!

Bassist/vocalist David Ellefson says about the new album:

"This album has been a terrific collaboration, building upon our past as we created a new sound together... we're looking forward to unleashing the fury!"

To Hell And Back will be available in the following formats:

Italian extreme metallers Aasar share new single 'Court of the Unknown'

Italian extreme metal group Aasar have shared their new single 'Court of the Unknown'. New EP From Nothing To Nowhere will be released on 30th June via the band's new home Seek & Strike. The cinematic music video for 'Court of the Unknown' showcases the band's truly immersive experience.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/S6Zs8oJGN84

Stream the song here: https://linktr.ee/Aasar.band

The band state: “Our new EP, From Nothing To Nowhere, is about the enigmatic journey of the human being toward the final judgment, whilst 'Court of The Unknown' is all about that specific moment that will either end in absolution or damnation. When we shot the video for ‘From Nothing To Nowhere', we already knew it was going to have a sequel and given the correlation between the lyrics, we thought ‘Court of The Unknown' was the perfect song."

On their signing to Seek & Strike, the band comment: "We were beyond excited to sign to Seek & Strike, who has a dynamic roster where we immediately felt right at home. We got to know how they work and we knew it was the next step for us to take."

On the upcoming EP: "From Nothing To Nowhere gravitates around themes such as spirituality, symbolism, pagan mythology and nature hidden behind apocalyptic and sci-fi metaphors. The lyrics form a narrative cycle that, spacing on these themes, puts the human being as the main character. He has to go through the act of being before, during and after life; re-live his internal pain and personal mistakes, which will drag him into eternal damnation. Some of our concepts and symbolisms come from the Egyptian and Norse mythology, because of their bond with spirituality and the cosmos."

DeathCollector stream new single 'DeathCollector'

British / Irish death metal group DeathCollector have released their blistering new single 'DeathCollector', from their forthcoming debut album, Death's Toll, to be released 23rd June via Prosthetic Records.

Featuring members of Bolt Thrower, Memoriam, Ashen Crown, Zealot Cult and more, DeathCollector's new single can be heard here: https://lnk.to/deathcollector

Pre-order Death's Toll here: https://lnk.to/deathcollector

DeathCollector's guitarist Mick Carey comments: "This is the song that started it all. After doing a bunch of covers during the pandemic to pass time and to keep ourselves busy musically, a decision was made to work on original music and these are the riffs I sent to Andy. This song was the start of DeathCollector, we hope you bang your heads to this one!"

Formed in 2021 as little more than a way to pass the time playing cover songs until life creaked back to normality, DeathCollector’s debut EP, Time’s Up, elicited considerable interest in the UK underground and caught the ear of Prosthetic Records. With their roots firmly planted in the scene that has supported them from the word go, DeathCollector are ready to branch out and show the rest of the globe exactly what they’re made of.

With a Bolt Thrower member in their ranks it would be all too easy to lean on the past and rely on name recognition and re-hashing a tried and true formula, but DeathCollector yearns for something more. Aiming to capture the fervent brutality of their live performance on record despite the physical distance between them, Andy Whale (Bolt Thrower/Darkened) decamped to Fordhouse studios to record the drums. Over in Ireland, Mick Carey (Zealot Cult) laid down his guitar parts with engineer Ciaran Culhane, whilst vocals and bass were recorded in home studios in the UK. The record was mixed and mastered by Gord Olson with the intention of creating something that was true to their principles: raw and unbridled.

The result is Death’s Toll; nine tracks of death metal that confidently bridges the old school with a more modern sound without losing any of its organic rawness. The hardcore and punk that influenced the original roots of death metal in the UK scene are flowing through the veins of the band, rounding out a sound that is as gritty as it is authentic.

Lyrically the album traverses the darkest contemplations on mortality; willful self destruction, addiction, and the mental and physical toll that life takes on us until death. DeathCollector sweep up the rot, filth, shame and weakness of humanity and funnel it into their scathing death metal offerings.

Mick Carey - Lead/Rhythm Guitar
Lee Cummings - Bass
Kieran Scott - Vocals

Groundbreaking Indonesian trio Voice Of Baceprot release lyric video for new single 'The Enemy of Earth is You'

Groundbreaking Indonesian trio Voice Of Baceprot have released the lyric video for their new single 'The Enemy of Earth is You'.

Watch: https://youtu.be/Yln6Qfs3gFE

Stream: https://li.sten.to/the-enemy-of-earth-is-you

2016. The year when natural disasters wreaked havoc across Indonesia. A staggering 1,985 events struck the nation - among them, the flash floods that swept the region of Garut in West Java.

Born and raised in a corner of Garut, Voice Of Baceprot received the shock of their lives. 'The Enemy of Earth is You' is their result: it encapsulates their anxiety after witnessing just how catastrophic the disasters are, and expresses the band's broken hearts and agony.

In the word's of VOB's vocalist Marsya"It is a song that summarises our loathing towards anyone who becomes an enemy of the Earth. On the flip side, the single reminds us not to turn into one of them."

Realising the severity of the damage, VOB have increasingly campaigned for climate change initiatives. As a result, the group have aligned the single release with the Music Declares Emergency initiative. This joins over 6,600 musicians and music industry professionals to use music as a means of raising public awareness about climate issues and the protection of life on Earth.

With their NO MUSIC ON A DEAD PLANET campaign, Music Declares Emergency have garnered support from artists including Billie Eilish, Arcade Fire, The 1975, Imogen Heap, Fatboy Slim, Major Lazer, and Tom Morello

'The Enemy of Earth is You' will also be included in Voice Of Baceprot's upcoming debut album Retas, which is set to drop in July 2023.

There are few groups as powerful and potent as Indonesian rock trio Voice of Baceprot (pronounced ‘bah-che-prot’, often abbreviated as VOB).

Forming in Garut, West Java, in 2014 while still at school, the band – Marsya (vocals/guitar), Widi (bass) and Sitti (drums) named their band after the Sundanese word for ‘noisy’: a true representation of their style of music.

The band are already celebrated across the globe for their indomitable attitude and power of representation.

One of the most exciting musical voices from Southeast Asia, VOB began to turn heads with early viral covers of Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slipknot, and Metallica, garnering attention from local and international media, as well as endorsements and praise from Tom Morello and Flea.

Besides their obvious prodigious musical talent, it was also the unique and contradictory combination of heavy rock and their wearing of the hijab that have caught the eye of many.

The group have overcome many obstacles in their still-young career, not least facing opposition from conservative Muslims in their home country, and stereotyping elsewhere due to their hijab-wearing on stage.

In the words of Marsya: "Wearing a hijab should not be a barrier to the group's pursuit of its dream of being heavy metal stars... I think gender equality should be supported because I feel I am still exploring my creativity, while at the same time, not diminishing my obligations as a Muslim woman".

Themes of empowerment and celebration run throughout Voice Of Baceprot's work. Their previously-released single, the monumental ‘(NOT) PUBLIC PROPERTY’ was released in conjunction with UK Government to collect donations for victims of sexual violence and abuse.

The anthemic single 'PMS', short for perempuan merdeka seutuhnya ("completely independent women"), celebrates women who are breaking stereotypes and boundaries in all forms.

The origin of 'PMS' is from VOB’s own background, when the band members still lived in their village in rural Indonesia. A conservative community, there are few career options for women after school - by choosing a career in music, Voice Of Baceprot have been marked by some as an anomaly or rebel in their community. 'PMS' is then a solidarity call for all women who face the same problems but march on regardless, to keep doing what they love.

This fearless and fearsome approach has already cemented VOB’s position as a hugely exciting prospect – and noticed by key media players globally, including The New York Times, The Guardian, NME, Metal Hammer, Kerrang!, and many more across USA, Europe, and beyond.

In summer 2022 VOB performed at Wacken Open Air 2022 to over 5,000 fans, and have collectively garnered close to ten million views and streams of their music across all platforms.

Riff merchants MUDSHARK release subtle new single 'F*CK YOURSELF'

UK/German heavy rockers MUDSHARK have shared a visualiser for their second-ever release 'F*CK YOURSELF'. It follows debut single 'NONCHALANCE' and offers further insight into the band's upcoming debut EP ZLV, out 23rd June via the band's own Shark Infested Records.

Check out the visualiser for 'F*CK YOURSELF' here: https://youtu.be/5sbmsSeeLuk

The band comment: "This is a tune Hagen wrote in his head back in 2017, whilst he was working at a gardening centre in Hamm, North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany. As he was mindfully watering plants that would later be sold to a kind, elderly couple, the song formed naturally. A couple of hours later, 'F*CK YOURSELF' was finished. He just had to play it on guitar now. The three significant stabs needed to be filled with the title lyrics. It was a perfect remedy."

Carrying the spirit of rock 'n' roll, MUDSHARK combines grooving guitar riffs with soaring, soulful vocal melodies. Singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists, Hagen Brüggemann and A. STR▲NGR have been making and producing music since they were kids. STR▲NGR started professional vocal training at the age of seven, playing guitar from age nine and raised funds for the Tsunami crisis as London's youngest busker that same year. STR▲NGR started playing in bands at age 10. As a professional performer, he made multiple West End theatre appearances from the age of 12.

Hagen started professional guitar training at the age of four, playing in many different projects from age seven. Four years later he also started professional drum, vocal and piano training. Hagen is a certified audio engineer, educated by Music Academy Germany and producing music since the age of 13. From the ages of 11 to 13 he made multiple national television appearances playing guitar and presenting for children's TV shows - up to 12 million viewers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Hagen is also the youngest artist to have ever played Wacken Open Air, the biggest metal festival in the world. It was during this time Hagen started writing songs for what would become MUDSHARK.

The name arose during their experience of Download Festival 2019, nicknamed “Drownload” or infamously “Brownload”. Mud up to your ankles, mud in your tent, the only thing that could have made it worse was if a shark swam up from the deep and pulled you below the surface. The name further stands as a metaphor for MUDSHARK's musical mission: cutting through the noise of the music industry. MUDSHARK’s mission is to deliver fresh and catchy heavy music to a current mainstream audience and younger generation, hitting the sweet spot between rock and metal.

MUDSHARK started as a remote project at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, using the global lockdown to write two EPs and one full-length album. Currently there are three MUDSHARKs ruling the oceans: A. STR▲NGR (vocals), Hagen Brüggemann (guitar) and Sebastian Richards (bass). MUDSHARK are collaborating with various drummers, including Jack Wrench (Arcane Roots, Jamie Lenman, Salem) for studio drums and Jerry Sadowski (ATAN and many more) for live drums.

MUDSHARK have recently finished their debut EP ZLV, working with Neil Kennedy (Creeper, Boston Manor) as recording and mixing engineer and Gene 'Machine' Freeman (Lamb of God, Clutch, Every Time I Die) as mastering engineer.

Creeper announce third album & release video for new single 'Cry To Heaven'

Today, a new chapter in the thrillingly theatrical story of Creeper gets underway, as the acclaimed UK band share their brand new single ‘Cry To Heaven’ and announce their third album Sanguivore, due for release on 13th October 2023 via SpinefarmCreeper’s previous albums - Eternity, In Your Arms and Sex, Death & the Infinite Void - have seen the band enamour an army of devotees, a highly committed following that propelled their second album to a Top 5 chart position.

Check out the video for 'Cry To Heaven' here: https://youtu.be/cHIA1JcBBZ4

Vocalist William Von Ghould says: “Keeping in line with the band’s ethos of aggressive musical progression, the song is once again an ambitious departure from previous works. ‘Cry To Heaven’ turns the key and unlocks a door to a new world of decadent excess. The introduction to a new tragic story of love, loss and vampires. This is Creeper at their most outrageous, harking back to a time where Jim Steinman ruled the airwaves in leather gloves and aviators.”

Pre-order/pre-save Sanguivore and stream 'Cry To Heaven' here: https://creeper.lnk.to/SanguivorePR

In addition to its digital release, Sanguivore will be available on physical formats which include limited edition vinyl formats and CD.

Opening with the rousing harmonies of the devil’s own choir, ‘Cry To Heaven’ immediately establishes another fresh evolution of Creeper’s style. It’s a luscious, maximalist wall of sound, in which swaggering hard rock at its most anthemic is amplified by punchy, high-drama synths, topped by the band’s signature vocal interplay between William Von Ghould’s sinister croon and Hannah Greenwood’s majestic range. It’s a track which sees Creeper extending and updating the lineage of the darkwave hedonism of The Sisters of Mercy with the crunching guitars and wounded roar of Danzig. Those two bands are also reference points for the accompanying video, which sees Von Ghould channelling classic Andrew Eldritch vibes within a visual that feels like an S&M twist on Lost Boys.

The song’s lyrics also tease the narrative that will unfold within the Sanguivore narrative. Its references to blood lust, sex, cannibalism and a human disguise hint at a new story of ill-fated love and corrosive lust - themes which burn throughout Creeper’s previous album concepts. For the uninitiated, a sanguivore is an entity that needs to feast upon blood to survive.

‘Cry To Heaven’ is the latest result of Creeper’s collaboration with the twisted mind of producer Tom Dalgety (Ghost, Royal Blood, The Cult, Killing Joke).

The news comes as Creeper are set to play the Heavy Music Awards at the OVO Wembley Arena tonight, where they’re nominated for Best UK Artist, Best UK Live Artist and Best Single for ‘Ghost Brigade’. Their previous accolades include landmark awards from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer and Rock Sound. Completing the Creeper line-up are founder members Ian Miles (guitar) and Sean Scott (bass) along with drummer Jake Fogarty.

Today also sees Creeper announce details of a November headline tour, tickets for which are sure to be in phenomenal demand after the band sold-out their biggest London show to date at the Roundhouse - a night that ended with Von Ghould’s apparent decapitation. Black metallers Deitus release haunting new single 'Voyeur feat. Toni Coe-Brooker'

Black metallers Deitus have released their haunting new single & video, 'Voyeur featuring Toni Coe-Brooker'. It's the second track taken from their forthcoming third studio album, Irreversible, which is released on 14th July via Candlelight Records

Check out ‘Voyeur’ here: https://youtu.be/Z9WfIJJTjPo
Stream / pre-save Irreversible here: https://Deitus.lnk.to/IrreversiblePR

Comments Deitus on the new single: "'Voyeur' is our first ever collaborative track and it was treated as a project unto itself. It’s an exploration of the direct terror of sleep paralysis through the eyes of suffering lead vocalist, Toni Coe-Brooker.

"The song itself is far removed from anything we’ve previously done artistically. We painstakingly crafted an emotive canvass for Toni to deliver her chilling performance. What results is an undeniably powerful soundscape and cinematic music video."

Guest vocalist Toni Coe-Brooker adds, “I was invited by Deitus to channel my childhood trauma from nyctophobia, which stems from my endless struggle with sleep-paralysis, into ‘Voyeur.’ It was agony at times to delve into areas of that emotional territory because it is still something I suffer with today.”

Formed in 2004 in York (UK), Deitus create sonic terror through the medium of black metal with no limits and no compromises. The band's core line-up has remained a stable 3-piece since their inception, taking inspiration from such artists as Dissection, Slayer, GG Allin, Fields of the Nephilim and Bathory.

Deitus produce raw, dark and melodic soundscapes that have helped to win them high praise for their notorious, blood-drenched, rabid, violent live performances across the UK, Europe, United States and Mexico. They have received attention for bringing an unpredictable and dangerous element back into the live setting and have played alongside such esteemed bands as Mayhem, ShiningHellhammer, Rotting Christ and also at various festivals across the globe including Bloodstock Festival (UK), Netherlands Deathfest (NL), Odyssey To Blasphemy (DE), Winter Rising (FR) and Sangre Y Fuego para Mictlantecuhtli (MX).

New album Irreversible was engineered by Greg Chandler at Priory Recording Studios with mixing and mastering completed by Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studio and cover art by Santiago Caruso.  It follows on from their two highly-acclaimed studio albums to date, Acta Non Verba (2016) and Via Dolorosa (2018).

Deitus conclude: "Irreversible will be released via our new label, Candlelight Records, this summer. This partnership, with such an esteemed label, will only serve to inflict the sinister and vicious art of Deitus to an even wider audience. Irreversible will consolidate Deitus as masters of our craft whilst at the same time introducing a much more diverse and unique sound overall. We won't give too much away at this point but there are numerous guest artist appearances and projects in motion; expect surprises between now and 14th July."
