Alt-punk quartet Call to the Faithful release new single 'Let Me Down'

On 'Let Me Down', the band comment: "It's about the breakdown of relationships and when things start to get nasty. It's fuelled by the experience of Matt (vocals) and his ex-girlfriend starting at separate universities and the resentment starting to creep in, then them breaking up after a month making him feel like he had lost everything and was in a new scary place all alone.

"It’s a very personal account of what
Matt experienced, but it can be applied to anyone feeling like they’ve lost everything and are having to start from scratch or just general resentment of a person. Generally quite a hateful song coming from an unhealthy state of mind. We wanted the song to be quite dark and grungy to reflect this with a strong backbeat to push through the message."

Peterborough alt-punk quartet Call to the Faithful have been winning over fans with their electrifying live shows and passionate performances across the UK. The band was born out of a burning desire to shake things up and inspire a new generation of the disillusioned to fight for what they believe in. Following 2022’s anti-establishment punk rock anthem ‘The Problem’ - a track which elevated the band's rising reputation nationally with radio play on BBC IntroducingTotal RockPrimordial Radio and Emerging Rock Bands - Call to the Faithful are clapping back with their debut EP, STRONG / STABLE / SUFFER - a fierce declaration of their unyielding spirit and uncompromising vision.

With influences that range from nu-metal to punk, the band refuse to be pigeonholed. Their music is a raw, unapologetic expression of the frustration, anger and passion inspired by the modern age. Whether they're delivering blistering guitar riffs or spitting acerbic vocal hooks, this band makes their presence felt.

But Call to the Faithful are more than just a band; they're a movement. They're a voice for a generation that refuses to be silenced or marginalised. Their music is both anthemic and introspective, exploring themes of resilience, perseverance, and hope in the face of adversity. It speaks to the struggles and triumphs of young people today, whether it's the fight for social justice, the battle against mental illness, or the search for meaning in a world that often seems cruel and senseless.

Drawing influences from TurnstileFrank Carter & The Rattlesnakes and Kid Kapichi, the quartet have positioned themselves firmly on the live circuit with their own tour in April 2022, on top of supporting the likes of Press ClubKill The LightsTom Lumley & The Brave Liaison and Glitchers. 2023 will see the band continue to hit the road across the UK with another tour in the works to promote the EP, with appearances at Lume Fest London (alongside Dream State) and Breaking Bands Festival already under their belt, and a Willow Fest Peterborough performance on the horizon.

Swedish extreme metal quintet The Hate Project release new single, new EP out now

Sweden’s The Hate Project have revealed their new single 'Needle Fanatic', taken from their new EP, Blessed With Malevolence, out now via Seek & Strike.

The vicious new single perfectly showcases their dynamic songwriting style, and goes straight for the jugular with its uncompromising aggression and unrivalled heaviness.

Stream here: https://youtu.be/bq7T-0USSXQ

The Hate Project state: "Our new single, 'Needle Fanatic,' has everything needed for a nasty deathcore song. It's ambient, extremely heavy and fast, which makes it a perfect fit for this EP. It has a great flow and really punches through, while also involving a more serious lyrical matter, taking on the deep subject of addiction.

"Lyrically, I (
Anton - Vocalist) needed to be in the right state of mind to bring this track to life. I already knew beforehand what message I wanted to present, which was the dark sides of mankind. The parts we rarely talk about, because it either scares us or we simply don't understand it, as everyone has a different reality. I have seen misery and channeled it into this.

"This EP was made with a lot more cooperation between the two guitarists than the previous one, enabling a broader and different feel/sound than before. We have also developed our sound further, while still maintaining our core sound. This time with a more polished, yet aggressive mix.

"We think that our sound is easy to recognise with our dark and ambient feel, mixed with brutal breakdowns and heavy riffs. Combining all the good ingredients of deathcore in our own unique way. It always feels to long between new releases, so we are really excited to finally share this full EP with you and let it blast through your speakers! We really hope you enjoy it."

A truly brooding release, Blessed With Malevolence depicts the darkest parts of humanity, detailing various bandmembers' battles with addiction. Listen out, for example, to the title-track: on the surface a straightforwardly aggressive song, but dig a little deeper you hear plenty of satisfyingly disparate elements.

A true development of the Swede's sounds, Blessed With Malevolence presents a more polished and aggressive mix. Make no mistake, this is all the best ingredients of deathcore punching through hard.

Belgian death metal crushers Carnation release new song, 'Maruta'

Belgian death metal crushers Carnation have delivered their new song 'Maruta', from forthcoming album Cursed Mortality, to be released 3rd November via Season of Mist.

The fearsome track is their telling of the infamous Japanese Unit 731, who conducted dehumanizing human experiments on victims referred to as 'logs', or Maruta in Japanese.

You can view the music video here: https://youtu.be/0AoNWyrjyd4

Frontman Simon Duson comments: "We are back with the second single for our upcoming third album Cursed Mortality. To accentuate the diversity of the album, 'Maruta' feels like the perfect single to follow-up 'Cursed Mortality'. This track is loaded with thrashy hooks, groovy beats, and punishing death metal riffs. Those who desire brutality, look no further. 'Maruta' is here to crush your skull!"

Alberta, Canada trio Royal Tusk release 'All My Life' single today alongside a lyric video via MNRK Music Group.

The vulnerable verses give way to a riff-boosted refrain with words of encouragement in the lyrics. “Sometimes, you might go far in one direction, but you feel stuck because you want to do something else,” commented frontman Daniel Carriere. “You can wake up and do things differently though. You don’t need to be a slave to a fate you didn’t want. Ultimately, it’s about finding it inside yourself to change.”

The Alberta trio consists of Daniel Carriere [vocals], Quinn Cyrankiewicz [guitar], and Sandy MacKinnon [bass]. They fuse hypnotic hooks to hard-hitting riffs offset by untethered rhythms and undeniably honest lyrics.

In 2014, the band buzzed out of Edmonton with their Mountain EP. They evolved across releases such as DealBreaker [2017] and Tusk II [2018]  which Billboard proclaimed, “The LP steps beyond what fans heard on DealBreaker.” Among many standouts in their catalogue, 'Curse The Weather' generated 10.4 million+ Spotify streams followed by 'Aftermath' with 6.8 million Spotify streams. They have toured with Pop EvilMonster TruckSlash, and Big Wreck, and performed on the 2020 ShipRocked Cruise with BeartoothHalestorm, and Alter Bridge to name a few. One moment, they’ll serve up an earthquake barrage of distortion only to incite a bold stadium-size singalong in the next breath.

Australian breakthrough act Future Static share wild metal cover of reggaeton classic 'Gasolina'

Australian breakthrough quintet Future Static make their hotly anticipated return in an unexpected, yet utterly electrifying fashion with a turbo-charged, metal fuelled cover of Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee’s 2004 global reggaeton hit, ‘Gasolina’, available now via Wild Thing Records.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/pahccWj0I3Y

Stream here: https://ffm.to/futurestaticgasolina

Electric front-woman Amariah Cook, born in Melbourne and raised in Barcelona, unites the vastly different metal and reggaeton worlds of her upbringing; presiding over the track in fluent Spanish, creating a venomous, chaotic take on the latin worldwide smash. ‘Gasolina’ is a sucker punch of cacophonous riffs, ferocious drums, and raging vocals. The unforgiving arrangement by lead guitarist Ryan Qualizza transforms ‘Gasolina’ into a concoction of woozy and fiery breakdowns, blaring and ruthless guitars, with a signature metal bite. Mixed and mastered by Sam Bianco (TapestryCherry), the final product is gritty, grandiose, and galvanising in equal measures, showcasing the band’s fierce energy and beaming charisma in peak form.

Amariah explains: “Over there, the metalheads hate reggaeton, so bringing those two mortal enemies together was an entertaining idea for me. I've always had a part in my soul that wanted to try to merge these two socially and musically opposing groups together.” Amariah further reflects, “Apart from it connecting me to my Spanish roots, doing this cover also meant blending all of our lives together. Even though we were all raised in such vastly different lifestyles and places… It is one of those songs which was extremely popular all over the world, and with this cover, we strive to bring back that sense of planetary community.”

Accompanying the release of ‘Gasolina’ is an appropriately high-octane music video directed by Colin Jeffs (Make Them SufferAlpha Wolf). Spanning seductive scenes, dangerous motor acrobatics, and a gallon of attitude, the result is a monstrously energetic masterpiece. Jeffs comments, “I am always about doing cool, hype clips that turn heads and I felt like this song was the perfect tune to do a head-turner to. We tried to pay homage to the original video, with it being sexy and fun. We tried to modernise that, and add our own flavour and flair to it. I think we did an excellent job of reimagining the song, whilst still keeping a lot of the flavour of what it was like back in the day.”

The release of ‘Gasolina’ doubles as the culmination of Future Static’s meteoric growth and artistic vision following the band’s recruitment of Amariah Cook as their new vocalist in 2021, solidifying her as an integral part of the act’s core identity; following on from earlier acclaimed singles ‘Waves’ (2021) and ‘Venenosa’ (2022). What started as a happy accident turned fortuitous idea by Qualizza for a home-grown charity vinyl release, metamorphosed into something greater, especially so for their Australian-borne, Spanish-raised singer.

Between this latest single, debut international tour dates including performances at this year’s Reeperbahn and Euroblast festivals in Germany, and the release of its highly anticipated full-length debut LP incoming, 2023 is shaping up to be nothing short of explosive for one of Australia’s most talked about breakthrough heavy acts.

Lead guitarist Ryan Qualizza summarises: “‘Gasolina’ is our way of getting people primed and ready for our debut album coming later this year. We wanted to do something different, and make a statement with this single, as a precursor to the record. Whether production, visuals, or sonic exploration, we're taking things to new and exciting places.”

Tour dates:
July 13 - Cherry Bar, Melbourne, Australia
September 20-23 - Reeperbahn Festival, Hamburg, Germany
September 29-October 1 - Euroblast Festival, Cologne, Germany

Filth is Eternal announce UK tour with Finch

Filth is Eternal will tour the UK with American post-hardcore legends Finch.

Dates as follows:

Nov 5: Glasgow The Garage
Nov 6: Cardiff Tramshed
Nov 7: Manchester Academy
Nov 8: London O2 Forum Kentish Town

Filth is Eternal - one of Seattle’s most vigorous and involved bands - have also recently announced their new album Find Out, to be released 29th September via MNRK Heavy

Find Out is the triumphant reawakening of this vital group. The new testament whips forth with the force of a breakthrough and is a clear undertaking of their own genesis with a deep awareness of themselves, their crowd, and the shared history between them. The band’s ground rules: immediacy must be prioritised; the songs should have the power to whip up a pit in under thirty seconds; they must be vital and exciting – all of which cuts through on their newest single, 'Crawl Space'.

Pre-order Find Out here: https://hiseternal.ffm.to/findout
Watch the video for 'Crawl Space' here: https://youtu.be/rP0Q6gYCxPY

Nothing short of a punk anthem, fault lines on 'Crawl Space' bubble with hot melodies and fist-clenching riffs. Front person Lis Di Angelo’s vocal delivery is singular and looks at life in the balance, where individual things are in a semblance of order but lacking synergy and permanence. “It's about that small window of time when everything feels like it's working- the band- relationships- work- mental health- the meds- everything- but something still feels off, like it's destined to fall apart no matter what choices you make,” they tell.

Friction from opposing forces informs the lyrics on Find Out, the title of which could infer emergence from trauma or consequential learning. Regardless of its intended meaning, the title is used as a conduit for the band to push toward positive strides when addressing mental health, addiction, and relationships, with community as a salve – approaching from a nihilistic viewpoint to shine a light, trying to explore a new way.  While those themes are visited, details are where the band stops short, ensuring that the listener is guided to these themes but leaving individual song messages for them to ascertain.

Lyrics aside, the true key to the new Filth is Eternal sound is the deep-rooted attention to songwriting. Exploding with fresh ideas, heavy on hooks, and clandestine melody, Find Out is a clear breakout release for FIE, not to mention a future staple for heavy music fans worldwide. Using the talents of producer Paul Fig (Slipknot, AFI, Alice In Chains) while recording at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 and Dave’s RoomFind Out adds just enough spit polish in production to conjure the masses but still retains the dirt and grime necessary to remain congruous to the sound and fury within.

At the core of Filth is Eternal is the instrumental trio of Brian McClelland (guitar), Rahsaan Davis (bass), and Emily Salisbury (drums), who lean into bone-crushing death metal and crust riffage, precision-machined grind, and nitro-fuelled punk to create the nihilistic and galloping armoured vehicle that is FIE. When hard-pressed about specific bands and styles, the band avoids individual names in favour of movements, yet it’s clear that the darker, more complex side of hardcore is probably the most direct influence. Names ranging from Converge to Cursed may be the most prevalent while others such as Trap ThemAlice in Chains, Stockholm-style death metal, and even The Distillers come to mind for additional inspiration, melody, and tactical songwriting purposes.

Vocalist / lyricist Lis Di Angelo’s approach is rooted in grunge and extreme music; their visceral delivery sits comfortably on the fulcrum between raspy hardcore vocals and cogent melodicism, allowing a range of emotional depth and dynamics. In the worlds the band currently occupies, the dichotomy is refreshing and oddly original, adding a subtle melodic twist to the nihilistic footstomp.

On Find Out, each track is its own pipe bomb ready to ignite on the unsuspecting public, creating a sense of urgency and relating the band’s explosive message to an unabating soundtrack of punk-inflected ferocity. Embrace the oncoming tidal wave, changing of the guard, and new revolution from Filth is Eternal. Sound the reveille because one way or another, you’ll Find Out.

After charting at #21 in the German album charts with previous album Kollaps, and formidable shows at Wacken Open AirFull Force FestivalArcTanGent and as recent headliners at the renowned Euroblast FestivalThe Hirsch Effekt have impressively established themselves in the German progressive metal landscape.

The band comment:

"During a stay at a vacation home in 2021, we developed a number based on a short guitar riff with acoustic guitar and electric bass. It's no coincidence that you can tell that Ilja and Nils listened to 'Californication' a lot when they were young: 'Road Trippin'' was definitely in the back of their minds at the time. When Ilja's cello parts came in, however, 'Agora' drifted into another, almost Celtic atmosphere.

"In terms of content, it is a very personal, autobiographical song. 'Agora' not only reflects finally arriving in the age of crises, but also a literal and genuine, humane tightness. Triggered not least by the pandemic, which lasted throughout the entire album writing phase and influenced everything, and all the lockdowns and isolations that went with it."

The Hirsch Effekt, consisting of multi-instrumentalists Nils Wittrock (vocals, guitars), Ilja John Lappin (bass, vocals) and Moritz Schmidt (drums), play an extremely variable style of music, performed to the peak of sophistication, resulting in a homogenous and enormous sound monster. Their epic, aggressive, and sinister sound, is complimented with a personal touch and frankness in the German lyrics. They signify authenticity and closeness, and stand out as a counterpart to the musical tapestry.

The Hirsch Effekt have also announced their Urian Tour 2023, which marks their first major headliner since their Eskapist album tour (2017) due to the pandemic. Check online for dates.

Saint Agnes have released an emotional live video for their poignant new single 'This Is Not The End', a tribute to Kitty A. Austen's grief for her late mother. The track is taken from the band's upcoming album Bloodsuckers, due for release on 21st July via Spinefarm.

Kitty comments on the single:

“I really wanted to write a song directly about my grief to have on the album, but it was just too difficult for the longest time. I was so raw and broken that I struggled to put myself in the place I needed to be in to get it done. But I did get there. The song was written and recorded as the very last thing on the album at the eleventh hour. It’s a tribute to my mother and the depth of my love for her. Then for the video we recorded a live piano version of the song at Rockfield Studios, it was a very vulnerable but special moment for us as a band.”

Saint Agnes recently announced a UK headline tour, which follows their sold-out headline show at The Black Heart in Camden, a European tour with Monster Magnet, a show supporting Employed To Serve, and an appearance at 2000trees

Hailing from the UK, Saint Agnes are all about honest lyrics, intense vocal performances, plus rage-fuelled music intended to give a voice to those closer to the fringe than the centre.

As much gang as band, Saint Agnes seek to empower those who’ve been battered and bruised yet refuse to lie down, and it’s a thread that runs deep within Bloodsuckers – SA’s first album for Spinefarm, the follow-up to 2019’s Welcome To Silvertown, issued on the band’s own label.

In addition to … SilvertownSaint Agnes have released a number of singles, videos and EPs, embarked on headline tours in both the UK and Europe, and appeared at a host of festivals, including Download, 2000trees, Isle of Wight and Kendal Calling.

Saint Agnes
are also making big waves in the gaming world, with the release of Dead Island 2 in April. The game, which features the Saint Agnes song 'And They All Fall Down', has sold over two million copies.

One thing’s for sure, it’s got nothing to do with rule-books or playing it safe…

From the title track (also lead single / video) onwards, Bloodsuckers is a genre-jumping body of work, taking in elements of metal, punk, industrial and grunge, without being bound by any specific style; the 11 tracks here come straight from the source, largely self-produced and mixed (NIN collaborator Sean Beavan lends his mixing and production skills to ‘Follow You’), and this self-contained approach provides an extra emotional weight throughout, with doom trap provocateur and Kerrang! cover artist Mimi Barks further fuelling the chaos on the short, sharp shock that is ‘Body Bag’.

Created in the months following the unexpected and untimely death of Kitty’s mother, Bloodsuckers explores a number of themes, including mental illness, pent-up rage, undying love and, of course, grief; from the trash-metal howl into the night that is ‘Bloodsuckers’ right through to broken ballad, ‘This Is Not The End’, a poignant reflection of Kitty’s still-raw emotions, this is a call to outsiders everywhere…

Concludes Kitty: “Creating this album gave me a reason to get to my feet at a time when I really wasn’t sure if I could. I’ve tried to put everything I’ve been feeling into it, all the pain, the rage, the grief, even the unexpected moments of beauty and belief. I hope it makes you feel less alone. I hope it makes you feel bigger, badder and stronger. We might be damaged but that doesn’t mean we’re worthless. This is a record for the defeated, the crushed. We might be broken but that doesn’t mean we’re not whole. Bloodsuckers forever, Saint Agnes forever.”

UK prog-death metal group Beyond Grace release Peter Gabriel cover

UK prog-death metal group Beyond Grace are excited to unveil their stunning cover of the Peter Gabriel classic 'Here Comes The Flood', a brilliantly original take on a prog classic.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/W7D4kinS_p8

The band comment: "2022 was, without a doubt, the darkest and most difficult time we've ever faced as a band.

"Though we came into the year on a major high, having just released our second album, we soon found ourselves struggling with a seemingly endless series of setbacks and misfortunes, with every bit of bad luck and every broken promise conspiring to kill whatever momentum we'd managed to build.

"Along the way we lost friends. We lost family. We dealt with periods of sickness and ill-health that all took their toll on us and our loved ones.

"To say we came close to calling it a day wouldn't be an exaggeration, and it took us a long time to regain our strength, and regain our confidence.

"But one of the things that kept us going was the fact that we had already recorded and filmed 'Here Comes The Flood' - which was originally intended for release to celebrate the one year anniversary of
Our Kingdom Undone - and we couldn't bear the thought of it never seeing the light of day.

"It's a song that features a lot of firsts for us - it's our first cover (which we worked very hard on to ensure that it sounds like us, first and foremost, while still paying tribute to the original) and the first song of ours to incorporate clean vocals (with
Tim [Yearsley - guitars/backing vox] taking the lead, and Andy [Walmsley - vocals] providing backing harmonies) - and the video is quite probably the best one we've done yet, and we need to thank both Tankspace and our long-time videographer Eric (ERD Visual Media) for helping bring it to life in such a vivid, vibrant way.

"At the same time, it also serves as the closing chapter of one stage of our career - featuring, as it does, the last appearance by our now ex-bassist, with whom we still share a close and unbreakable bond - and the beginning of a whole new era for
Beyond Grace.

"And you won't have to wait much longer to learn just what the future holds for us. We promise you that."

In July of 2017 Beyond Grace released their full-length debut, Seekers, a DIY-blend of progressive technicality and deathly intensity with a number of visually-arresting videos - including the eye-catching 'Oracle' (premiered by Decibel) and the brilliantly weird 'Apoptosis' - and led to the band being dubbed “one of British Metal's best-kept secrets”.

Over the next few years, in between bouts of writing and recording, the group would go on to tour with and perform alongside the likes of Hour of PenanceBlood Red ThroneCryptopsyMithrasThe Monolith Deathcult, and more, whose influence would go on to inform their darker, heavier, and more artistically-ambitious second album, Our Kingdom Undone

Released in September 2021 on Prosthetic Records, and once again accompanied by a series of stunning music videos for the likes of 'Fearmonger' (released with support from Distorted Sound Magazine) and 'Hive Mind' (which was debuted by Metal Injection), Kingdom quickly garnered multiple accolades from the likes of Metal HammerMetal Sucks, and Blabbermouth (with the latter describing it as “world-class”) and allowed the band to once again hit the road, now as a headline-worthy act in their own right.

After parting ways with Prosthetic in late 2022, and bidding goodbye to their long-time bass-player soon after, the group – now consolidated as a quartet – have taken some time to rest and re-evaluate their next steps, deciding on a fresh approach for album three.

More information to be revealed shortly.
