Australian prog-metal group Voyager (Eurovision 2023 entry) release new single 'Ultraviolet'

Australian synth-prog metal outfit Voyager have released their incredible new single, 'Ultraviolet', another glimpse of their worldbeating new album Fearless In Love, due 14th July via Season of Mist.

The band head into darker and more cinematic realms with the huge new track, featuring Sean Harmanis from Australian metalcore heavyweights Make Them Suffer.

Stream 'Ultraviolet' here: https://listen.voyagerau.com/ultraviolet

Pre-order Fearless In Love here: https://orcd.co/fearlessinlove

The band comment: "'Ultraviolet' is certainly one of the darkest songs on the album. As the protagonist struggles to cope with the pressures of the modern world and its insane demands, the song has a message that we hope will resonate with many people, and we collaborated with director Matt Pitcher to tell this story in a cinematic way. Due to the dissonant nature of the track, we decided to enlist our good friend and fellow Australian Sean Harmanis, vocalist of metalcore band, Make Them Suffer, to perform a guest vocal spot to really portray the unsettling emotion we wanted to communicate in the track and he totally slays."

Video director Matt Pitcher comments: "Through the story of a deteriorating relationship ‘Ultraviolet’ delves into the human experience within a modern era, exploring themes of depression, social media/phone addiction, identity and individualism. Much like the elusive yet dangerous nature of ultraviolet light, these often unseen forces hold immense power in shaping the course of our existence."

The band will be touring Fearless In Love on the following dates:

Oct 20: Manchester Club Academy [SOLD OUT]
Oct 21: London The Dome [SOLD OUT]
Oct 22: London The Dome
Oct 24: Glasgow Slay

Voyager are flying high following their synthsational appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, where they placed #9 in the Grand Final and winning their semi-final outright.

The band performed their incredible song 'Promise', which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/agG7ShZGfJM. Winning accolades worldwide, the single has since charted, hitting the Spotify viral charts, and catapulting Voyager to national and international fame.

Not content to rest, they will release their mighty new album Fearless In Love - their eighth - on 14th July via Season of Mist

Voyager - comprised of Daniel “Danny” Estrin (vocals/keyboards), Simone Dow (guitars), Scott Kay (guitars), Alex Canion (bass) and Ashley Doodkorte (drums) - have been creating music together for over a decade. Fearless In Love pairs sweeping vocals with emotive lyrics, inspired by the grit and glam of 80's and 90's film.

This cohort of dynamic talents and personalities initially came together twelve years ago. Since then, they’ve unleashed a string of fan favourite albums - V [2014], Ghost Mile [2017], and Colours in the Sun [2019]—in addition to sharing stages with the likes of DeftonesLeprousDevin TownsendOpeth, and Poppy to name a few.

As much as you can rely on the Earth’s elliptical orbit, you can depend on Voyager to consistently evolve. The band’s interplanetary balance of virtuosic pyrotechnics and skyscraping radio-ready hooks morphs at the speed of sound from one era to the next. In bursts of bright light, luminous keys, neon guitar wizardry, and stratosphere-shaking rhythms, they elevate hard rock to another realm. The group blast off on a signature hybrid of prog, rock, and metal possibly best described as the musical equivalent of Guardians of the Galaxy - truly out of this world.

The Moment You Find Your Flame EP, produced by long-time collaborator John Feldman, reflects the struggle in recognising one’s self-worth, touching upon internal battles, self-doubt and insecurities that can overshadow one's perception of their own abilities. The band have found their own flame, a metaphor for their soul-baring introspection, providing comfort and catharsis through music in the face of universal emotions that unite us all.

“We draw strength from each other and give each other the space and support to be the best, most creative person we can be,” Jacobs explains. “And together, right now, that makes us the best band we’ve ever been.”

The EP and the band encompass five friends who came together to create music for themselves, for each other, and for the thriving community that has forged around it. They are bonds born of time, joy and sadness, of success and hardship and most importantly, they are born of an openness that allows five unique creative personalities to unite in something far stronger and far bigger than the sum of its talented parts.

The Moment You Find Your Flame is the path you’ve set out on to recovery. You’ve followed the glimmer of hope and potential, and the way forward is beginning to reveal itself. But it is still  only a little flame. It needs nurturing still,” says bassist/vocalist Porter McKnight.

“Everything that we have put out to this point has built up to this moment,” concludes Jacobs. “Something special is happening with Atreyu right now. We can feel the creativity and collaboration when the five of us get in the studio. We can feel the confidence we all give each other when we stand on stage together. And we can see it in the audience when they’re losing their minds. They’re having as good a time as we are ourselves.”

The Moment You Find Your Flame tracklist:

1.    Good Enough
2.    Immortal
3.    Gone
4.    I Don’t Wanna Die

Atreyu ushered in a new movement in heavy music. Their music seamlessly intertwines with formative experiences for a diverse legion of dedicated listeners, many of whom started their own bands. They've broken into the Top 10 in the Billboard 200 more than once; two of their albums, The Curse and Lead Sails Paper Anchorare certified gold with two million albums sold worldwide and an encompassing 600 million streams. Their most recent album, Baptize, has clocked 65 million streams alongside a Top 10 at rock radio hit with 'Warrior' featuring Travis Barker.

Where once the band was heralded as the early innovators of the nascent metalcore scene, their place in heavy music’s diverse and boundary-breaking scene has never felt more relevant, with inspirations of pop-punk, hardcore, thrash, ‘80s rock and more melding into a unique and varied sound that has never felt more relevant than in today’s increasingly genreless world.

With a 20-year career and eight acclaimed albums in the rear-view mirror, Atreyu are focused only on the present and the future in 2023, with a mission to continue shaping and defining the rock and metal scene, just as they have always done since their emergence from Huntington Beach in Southern California.

Frontman Brandon Saller, guitarists Dan Jacobs and Travis Miguel, bassist Porter McKnight and drummer Kyle Rosa are some of the most respected names and potent forces in heavy music, and their live show is one of the most heralded on the touring circuit.

Swedish metal breakthough act Orbit Culture announce new album and stream single

Sweden's Orbit Culture have announced their highly anticipated new album Descent, set for release 18th August via Seek and Strike. The band have also unveiled their new single / video 'From The Inside'.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/VyuciyFwnmI

Pre-save and pre-order the album on CD and vinyl here: https://bit.ly/3XKi4AS

'From The Inside' highlights Orbit Culture's blend of infectious hooks and crushing melodies, wraped up in captivating songwriting. Niklas Karlsson (guitars/vocals) states: "Right off the bat, starting in the writing and demo stage of this album, all of us in the band felt that this song was special. It is somewhat of a melancholic track, but with a deadly punch that works well over this atmospheric clean guitar. The intro felt right, the verse felt right and the chorus felt right. It’s just one of those songs that combined all of the elements of this album into a single track.

"The lyrics contain several metaphors talking about not really being fit in and dealing with life’s everyday bullshit. I drew a line between the similarity of solitude to being left outside in the cold, which mostly starts within yourself. That’s how the whole visual aspect of the video came from, being left out, seeing the world and the rest of the world can see you, but you can’t be touched."

On DescendNiklas continues: "We wanted this album to sound as big and aggressive as possible, while maintaining a pleasant listening experience. I took a lot inspiration from the movie Dune, not because of the story or anything, but because the combination of imagery and music created this vast picture and we wanted to convey that epic feel with this new album."

Following a huge year of festivals and touring, including opening the In Flames world tour, Orbit Culture show no signs of slowing. The band next play a number of EU festivals and select dates before heading to the UK to support Trivium and Bleed From Within. Dates:

The final shows of their second support tour with Iron Maiden are closing in, and the band's busy live schedule also includes great slots at the main European summer festivals, including Wacken in August and Rockharz Open Air this weekend, while headline shows and their very own LORDFEST festival are selling out fast.

Featuring Andy LePlegua, watch the video for 'Reset The Preset' here: https://youtu.be/cCJUwPfZwPA

Lord Of The Lost comment on 'Reset The Preset': "In line with the song title 'Reset The Preset', we did everything in a way we NEVER have done before for this video. We put every creative decision of the music video - whether it was clothing, lighting, colours, content, whatever... - into other people's hands. Namely, into the hands of our tour photographer and cameraman Lennard Schmitt, who has an incredible knack for visually absurd art. So, with Lennard as director, we set every LOTL preset to reset and let ourselves be surprised with this video from start to finish. The result is definitely the most shrill and weirdest piece of visual art we've ever released."

To Kill Achilles release new single 'The Cave'

Post-hardcore/alt-rock quartet To Kill Achilles have released their new single 'The Cave'. The track is taken from their upcoming album Recovery, due for release on 11th August via Arising Empire.

Through years of embracing honesty and channelling hardships into expression, To Kill Achilles are ready to embark on their next chapter with their upcoming full-length.

Consisting of 11 tracks, Recovery is full of the same ferocity we've come to expect from To Kill Achilles, with sincere lyrics depicting real life experiences. The music is a mixture of aggression, sadness, hope and beauty, with soaring choruses and tear-jerking storytelling that promotes the journey towards positivity.

The band comment on the new album:

“This record is the antithesis of the last. For far too long we’ve told the story of mental degradation without hope. Becoming completely drained repeating the same lines of how it hurts to be here. Recovery deals with courage, control, acceptance, and ultimately the end goal that anyone in this circumstance seeks… the other side. This record is the journey of getting better, taking control of your life and the experiences around you.”

To Kill Achilles have extensively toured across the UK, the majority of Europe and Russia with bands such as We Came As RomansCounterparts, While She Sleeps, I Killed The Prom Queen, Betraying The Martyrs and many more.

See To Kill Achilles at Summer Breeze in Germany this August.

UK heavy metallers Skies Turn Black release new single 'The Skies Are Falling Down'

Heavy metal quintet Skies Turn Black have unveiled new single 'The Skies Are Falling Down', along with a live performance video. This is the first release featuring new member Xander Isles on keytar and backing vocals. The single comes just a few days after the band announced they will be performing at Bloodstock this August.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/KIRuJg6cqOc

Skies Turn Black are a five-piece heavy metal band hailing from the North of England. Their sound incorporates a modern approach to classic British heavy metal, with the energy of power metal. Giant choruses, infectious melodies and virtuosic solos (from both guitars and keytar) create a recipe for metal that oozes passion and intricacy.

The band have always taken pride in having a diverse repertoire of music. The debut album No Place Like Home (2018) showcases a magnitude of the band’s musicianship and received glowing reviews all around the world - including Metal Hammer calling it Some of 2018’s best guitar work”.

The band have yet again managed to stand out in the metal scene with the addition of long-term friend Xander Isles as a vocalist and keytar extraordinaire. Xander’s additional support vocally has given the band the ability to deliver powerful harmonies live, as well as a whole new outlook on writing vocal parts in newer material. ‘The Skies Are Falling Down’ is the first track to feature Isles, and his influence is evident. The power of the vocal delivery is extraordinary, with features of choral harmonies and infectious melodies. Adding to this his mesmerising keytar solo, having Xander has given Skies Turn Black an extra arrow in their quiver.

Right now, the northern quintet have a selection of new material ready to go, and are incredibly excited to see where it will take them. The band are putting finishing touches on their own studio built in Huddersfield, and look to keep producing their own passionate brand of metal.

Alt-punk quartet Call to the Faithful release new single 'Let Me Down'

Rising UK alt-rockers Call to the Faithful have shared their new single 'Let Me Down'. The first single from the band's upcoming debut EP STRONG / STABLE / SUFFER, 'Let Me Down' comes with a visually striking music video directed by Paul England.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/DfWbbR_yV6I

Stream the song here: https://lnk.to/LetMeDown_CTTF

On 'Let Me Down', the band comment: "It's about the breakdown of relationships and when things start to get nasty. It's fuelled by the experience of Matt (vocals) and his ex-girlfriend starting at separate universities and the resentment starting to creep in, then them breaking up after a month making him feel like he had lost everything and was in a new scary place all alone.

"It’s a very personal account of what
Matt experienced, but it can be applied to anyone feeling like they’ve lost everything and are having to start from scratch or just general resentment of a person. Generally quite a hateful song coming from an unhealthy state of mind. We wanted the song to be quite dark and grungy to reflect this with a strong backbeat to push through the message."

Peterborough alt-punk quartet Call to the Faithful have been winning over fans with their electrifying live shows and passionate performances across the UK. The band was born out of a burning desire to shake things up and inspire a new generation of the disillusioned to fight for what they believe in. Following 2022’s anti-establishment punk rock anthem ‘The Problem’ - a track which elevated the band's rising reputation nationally with radio play on BBC IntroducingTotal RockPrimordial Radio and Emerging Rock Bands - Call to the Faithful are clapping back with their debut EP, STRONG / STABLE / SUFFER - a fierce declaration of their unyielding spirit and uncompromising vision.

With influences that range from nu-metal to punk, the band refuse to be pigeonholed. Their music is a raw, unapologetic expression of the frustration, anger and passion inspired by the modern age. Whether they're delivering blistering guitar riffs or spitting acerbic vocal hooks, this band makes their presence felt.

But Call to the Faithful are more than just a band; they're a movement. They're a voice for a generation that refuses to be silenced or marginalised. Their music is both anthemic and introspective, exploring themes of resilience, perseverance, and hope in the face of adversity. It speaks to the struggles and triumphs of young people today, whether it's the fight for social justice, the battle against mental illness, or the search for meaning in a world that often seems cruel and senseless.

Drawing influences from TurnstileFrank Carter & The Rattlesnakes and Kid Kapichi, the quartet have positioned themselves firmly on the live circuit with their own tour in April 2022, on top of supporting the likes of Press ClubKill The LightsTom Lumley & The Brave Liaison and Glitchers. 2023 will see the band continue to hit the road across the UK with another tour in the works to promote the EP, with appearances at Lume Fest London (alongside Dream State) and Breaking Bands Festival already under their belt, and a Willow Fest Peterborough performance on the horizon.

Matt Wells - Guitar

Swedish extreme metal quintet The Hate Project release new single, new EP out now

Sweden’s The Hate Project have revealed their new single 'Needle Fanatic', taken from their new EP, Blessed With Malevolence, out now via Seek & Strike.

The vicious new single perfectly showcases their dynamic songwriting style, and goes straight for the jugular with its uncompromising aggression and unrivalled heaviness.

Stream here: https://youtu.be/bq7T-0USSXQ

The Hate Project state: "Our new single, 'Needle Fanatic,' has everything needed for a nasty deathcore song. It's ambient, extremely heavy and fast, which makes it a perfect fit for this EP. It has a great flow and really punches through, while also involving a more serious lyrical matter, taking on the deep subject of addiction.

"Lyrically, I (
Anton - Vocalist) needed to be in the right state of mind to bring this track to life. I already knew beforehand what message I wanted to present, which was the dark sides of mankind. The parts we rarely talk about, because it either scares us or we simply don't understand it, as everyone has a different reality. I have seen misery and channeled it into this.

"This EP was made with a lot more cooperation between the two guitarists than the previous one, enabling a broader and different feel/sound than before. We have also developed our sound further, while still maintaining our core sound. This time with a more polished, yet aggressive mix.

"We think that our sound is easy to recognise with our dark and ambient feel, mixed with brutal breakdowns and heavy riffs. Combining all the good ingredients of deathcore in our own unique way. It always feels to long between new releases, so we are really excited to finally share this full EP with you and let it blast through your speakers! We really hope you enjoy it."

A truly brooding release, Blessed With Malevolence depicts the darkest parts of humanity, detailing various bandmembers' battles with addiction. Listen out, for example, to the title-track: on the surface a straightforwardly aggressive song, but dig a little deeper you hear plenty of satisfyingly disparate elements.

A true development of the Swede's sounds, Blessed With Malevolence presents a more polished and aggressive mix. Make no mistake, this is all the best ingredients of deathcore punching through hard.

Belgian death metal crushers Carnation release new song, 'Maruta'

Belgian death metal crushers Carnation have delivered their new song 'Maruta', from forthcoming album Cursed Mortality, to be released 3rd November via Season of Mist.

The fearsome track is their telling of the infamous Japanese Unit 731, who conducted dehumanizing human experiments on victims referred to as 'logs', or Maruta in Japanese.

You can view the music video here: https://youtu.be/0AoNWyrjyd4

Frontman Simon Duson comments: "We are back with the second single for our upcoming third album Cursed Mortality. To accentuate the diversity of the album, 'Maruta' feels like the perfect single to follow-up 'Cursed Mortality'. This track is loaded with thrashy hooks, groovy beats, and punishing death metal riffs. Those who desire brutality, look no further. 'Maruta' is here to crush your skull!"
