Dead Icarus share video for new single 'The Vultures Circle'

Dead Icarus, the new project of former Atreyu lead vocalist and Gold-selling artist Alex Varkatzas, have shared their new single / video 'The Vultures Curcle', streaming now via MNRK Heavy.

Check out the video  here: https://youtu.be/oUk8i81EkxU

"Hands down, this is the heaviest song I've ever been been involved with," Varkatzas says. "It's an 'F you' to the cancel culture that has infected society. 'Savior, Saint, Sinner, or Thief. Live long enough you'll die one of these.' It doesn't matter what's living inside you; it's just about what people wanna believe."

Dead Icarus previously shared the video for the new single 'Sellout'. The track is a hyperkinetic slab of fast-paced, face-ripping metal with layered vocals and a pit-clearing breakdown. The song shows off a different side of the artist's musical personality. It hits hard, but it's also infused with a melody that just won't quit.

A staple of Ozzfest in the mid-2000s with two gold albums, Atreyu are one of the defining bands of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, alongside groups like Avenged Sevenfold and Lamb Of God. Metalcore classics like The Curse and A Death-Grip on Yesterday were powered by Alex’s distinctive scream.

The band has officially signed a worldwide deal with MNRK Heavy, with a full-length project slated for Spring 2024.

Creeper release new single 'Black Heaven'

Creeper have released their new single 'Black Heaven'. The track is the third single from their vampiric new album Sanguivore, due for release on Friday 13th October via Spinefarm

Check out 'Black Heaven' here: https://youtu.be/lzEmnpRIz38

Stream 'Black Heaven' here: https://creeper.lnk.to/SanguivorePR

Creeper continue to expand the scope of their frenetic, flamboyant goth-punk heart that took their previous album, Sex, Death & The Infinite Void, into the Top 5 of the UK Official Album Chart. First ‘Cry To Heaven’ came across like an unholy union between The Sisters of Mercy and Glenn Danzig, before ‘Teenage Sacrifice’ channelled the ire and anthemic punch of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden in their early ‘80s pomp. Now Creeper embrace a darker side of black with their new single ‘Black Heaven’.

‘Black Heaven’ adds new sonic elements to Creeper's swaggering gothic heart, with looming, ominous synths entangled like barbed wire around guitarist Ian Miles’ serrated riffs, which recall the sinister side of electro-pop and the darkwave scene of the early ‘80s. Presenting an important moment in the story between the album’s core characters, Spook and Mercy, the vocal interplay between vocalist William Von Ghould’s baritone croon and keyboardist/vocalist Hannah Hermione’s sweetly alluring vocal harmonies provides another standout touch, which was inspired by Nick Cave’s collaboration with the McGarrigle Sisters on the Bad Seeds track ‘Hallelujah’.

William Von Ghould says: “This song allows us to show a new side to the band and sees us experimenting with electronic elements properly for the first time. Taking influence from Depeche Mode and New Order, we try to push the boundaries of our sound out further than they’ve been before.”

Produced by Tom Dalgety (GhostRoyal Blood), Sanguivore finds Creeper going larger-than-life in every conceivable way, from Jim Steinman-style ripping rock operas to Billy Idol’s punk/sleaze hybrid, and the moody heavyweight electro-rock of Gary Numan. In a world that’s getting darker by the moment, the vampiric thrills of Sanguivore offers fans a fantastical escape into the unknown, and one that’s full of Easter eggs for those fans who thoroughly immerse themselves within every detail of the record.

Joining the previously announced four vinyl variants, which come with a signed art print, are some new release formats for Sanguivore: a limited edition red cassette and a limited edition card sleeve CD with alternate artwork.

Voyager are:

Danny Estrin (Vocals, Keytar)
A keytar wielding, songwriting powerhouse who is a lawyer by day and a rockstar by night. Not only is Danny an award-winning lawyer, but his multilingual abilities are an asset to Voyager’s live shows all around the world, allowing the band to connect on a deeper level with their international audience, mesmerised by his ‘80s vocal timbre.

Simone Dow (Guitars)
A firecracker of a guitarist whose chronic pain condition only drives her further to succeed. An advocate of migraine awareness, the 7-string guitarist shreds and brings an energy to the stage unmatched by anyone else in the scene.

Scott Kay (Guitars)
Scott’s technical proficiency and energy perfectly compliment his sister in shred, syncopating their efforts on stage and providing a twin attack on guitars. Scott’s philosophical approach to music shines through in his performance, executing a deep and meaningful energy to every live show.

Alex Canion (Bass)
The face of bass, and a killer vocalist to boot. Alex is a force of nature and connects with all his peers on stage in a way that brings a dynamic that is hard to rival in any band. Providing epic moments in the songs alongside a rhythmic foundation, Alex’s personality brings an eccentric and expressive outpour to Voyager’s shows.

Ash Doodkorte (Drums)
The most bombastic drummer you’ll ever see. Leading the charge with impact and momentum, Ash’s drumming is indefatigable. Not only is he a master of his craft, but he also specialises in another craft topic, beer.

Emil Bulls release video for brand new single 'The Devil Made Me Do It'

The band comment: "We’re thrilled to finally show the world what the devil made us do."

'The Devil Made Me Do it' delves into the intricate layers of the human psyche. The track masterfully captures the delicate equilibrium between our innermost desires and the choices we make, the age-old struggle of personal responsibility versus the influence of external forces. With powerful metaphors, notably the devil's imagery, the song offers a deep dive into emotions often felt but rarely spoken of.

With their unique blend of compelling melodies, powerful riffs, and outstanding live performances, Emil Bulls have captured the hearts of rock and metal enthusiasts worldwide. Since their formation the band has garnered a significant following and solidified their place as one of the top acts in the alternative scene.

Doomgaze quartet Sugar Horse reveal new single from forthcoming EP

The monolithically UK heavy quartet Sugar Horse have streamed their new single 'III - Consquences', another slice of their forthcoming mesmeric new EP, Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico (3rd November, Fat Dracula Records/distributed by Metal Blade Records in US).

Listen to 'III - Consequences' here: https://youtu.be/bF2sQczbfs0

Pre-order and stream Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico here: https://li.sten.to/Consequences

An epic achievement, Truth... is, in signature Sugar Horse style, one single long song: a meditation and exploration of everything the note A has to offer.

Sugar Horse comment on the new single:  "This section kind of feels like stepping into the eye of a particularly lengthy storm. It’s a short reprieve where we break everything down before climbing back up that staircase again. Lyrically it describes the catharsis of art. You can take in any pain, hurt and bullshit from day to day like, then use it to generate something positive and beautiful. There’s something I find unbelievably beautiful in that kind of genesis. It’s probably the closest I come to any kind of religious thought. You take hell and turn it into heaven."

Telling the story of Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico, the band state: "It’s frequently been difficult for us, as a band, to limit ourselves to “normal” pop song lengths and structures….as evidenced in pretty much all of our releases to date. From time to time we feel the need to loose the ropes that bind us and let our Long & Tedious flag fly freely. Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico is the result of said untethering.

"We’ve always found the idea of exploring a single note over long stretches of time interesting and this song is that idea taken to an extreme logical conclusion. It’s an exploration of the note A in all its possible variations."

Sugar Horse will be touring with post-rock luminaries 65daysofstatic across Europe this September. Summer 2023 is already a significant year for the doomgaze pioneers, with the group also supporting Pianos Become The Teeth, Liturgy, Chat Pile and an appearance at ArcTanGent festival.

With 65daysofstatic:
Sep 21: FR Paris La Maroquinerie
Sep 22: BE Antwerp Trix
Sep 23: NL Amsterdam Paradiso
Sep 24: DE Hamburg Kunst
Sep 25: DE Berlin Hole 44

Oct 04: UK Bristol Fleece (with Pianos Become The Teeth)

Sugar Horse are riding high following the release of their storied collaborative EP Waterloo Teeth, which features members of HeriotConjurerIDLESBiffy Clyro, and many more.

A lot of people take the name Sugar Horse to be a drug reference - perhaps fitting for a band that sound like the last moments of a three-day binge. Darting wildly between dark/light, pain/bliss, sacred/profane, Sugar Horse are unpredictable and unrestrained.

Formed in what is now considered to be the utopian dreamscape of 2015, the band grew slowly at first. Far from fully formed, but steadily gaining limbs, heads and vital organs. Finally, 2019’s DRUJ followed swiftly by 2020’s DRUGS saw them hit on a relentless stride of eclectic releases that simultaneously confused and entranced audiences.

2021 saw the band encamp in a former Lutheran church to record their debut album, The Live Long After, releasing it via Brighton’s own Small Pond Records. Publications such as The Quietus describing the record as “shift[ing] dispositions fluidly, taking elements of extreme aggression alongside floaty Post-Metal” and Echoes & Dust calling it “a monumental achievement”. The album took every disparate element that Sugar Horse previously employed and amplified them, while juxtaposing each next to each other, with genuinely unpredictable and exciting consequences.

2022 saw no relent from the band’s fast pace release schedule, as they put out an anthemic shoegaze single in 'Pictures Of Dogs Having Sex', followed swiftly by the Waterloo Teeth EP. A release that paired Sugar Horse’s terrifying eclecticism with guest appearances from twelve other artists in just four short(ish) songs. Each artist coming from a different area of the modern British music scene, whether that be world conquering post-punk bass lines from IDLES’ Adam Devonshire, heavy titans Conjurer and Pupil Slicer’s throat crippling wails, or a shredding guitar solo from Biffy Clyro/Oceansize axe wielder Mike Vennart. The EP packs in an album’s worth of genre mutilating twists and turns into just 25 minutes of music.

Anti-pop trio gürl release Blade-inspired blood rave video / single 'Hexy'

Cinema peaked in 1998 with Blade's iconic Vampire Rave Club scene - now, 25 years later, the inspiration for the stunning video for the brand new gürl single 'HEXY', starting to bite as of today.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/1AYUTLqOjtg to see how their best visual feast yet ends in a blood bath.

Stream: https://fanlink.to/Hexy

After cracking 1,000,000 streams and gaining incredible support from BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang! Radio, you’d be forgiven for thinking gürl might want to play it safe with this first single off their second EP, Parma Violence.

This is far from the truth. The new anti-pop trio are here to shock and seduce with their nastiest release to date. 'HEXY' shows the darker and edgier side of the bubblegum razorblade three-piece from the UK, but, in typical gürl fashion, tongue in cheek. Or rather, tongue in fang.

This hernia-inducing nu-punk anthem redefines the bleeding edge of alternative music and sits somewhere between Nova TwinsBring Me The HorizonAshnikko, and Beastie Boys.

Watch gürl on their upcoming UK tour. Dates as follows:

Sep 30: Bristol, Misery Loves Company
Oct 10: Brighton, The Prince Albert
Oct 14: Manchester, The Deaf Institute
Nov 03: Cambridge, The Six Six
Nov 28: Bristol, The Exchange
Nov 30: London, The Black Heart

Purchase tickets here: https://gurl.tix.to/2023

Produced by Rhys May (BMTHEnter Shikari), with assistance from Dan Lancaster (MUSEDon BrocoBMTH), 'HEXY' is bursting with huge 808s, baritone guitars, and nu punk vocals that firmly cement the trio as pioneers shaping the sound of modern rock.

Says Joshua Dalton (vocals):
"Tired of being sexy? Try being HEXY. We sandwiched creepy horror sound fx and Beastie Boys-inspired vocals between thicc guitars and 808s, and effectively wrote a love song from a perspective of utter cynicism. The result is our Halloween anthem. We're not the kinda band that would release a Christmas song (yet), but we refuse to let "Thriller" corner the market on Halloween.

"As for the video, everyone knows cinema peaked at Blade 1998. If you live your entire life having only ever watched this Wesley Snipes classic, you've seen all you need to see of the moving pictures art form.  So, naturally, we felt the opening blood rave scene would be perfect for HEXY."

gürl are anti-pop: Froot Loops and butcher knives, bubblegum and razor blades, and fashion posing as music, all wrapped in diva choruses with heavy guitars, rock drums and trap production. Think Ashnikko meets Loathe and Billie Eilish meets Bring Me The Horizon, but drenched in a magnificent shade of pink. The result is dangerous: it’s glam, it’s heavy, it’s camp, it’s sarcastic, it’s narcissistic, it’s ironic, and most importantly, it goes hard.

The Bristol-based outfit were founded by vocalist/lyricist Joshua Dalton and guitarist Jonny Turner, on the condition that they would be called gürl, offering a cynical reflection on music marketing by choosing a name that ‘cool people’ would wear on a t-shirt. They started out with neo-soul but soon found that they could (and should) go much harder, combining outrageous lyrics, stadium-sized riffs, heavy-hitting drums, and irresistible basslines, all glued together by tasteful (but never meek) trap elements.

Vocalist/lyricist Joshua Dalton cares about words and means what he says. Following his father’s death, he found his road to Damascus by realising that each time he found himself in a dark place, he turned to music: "Every fight, every sleepless night, every break-up: music is this unrelenting, limitless, untameable source of joy."

Guitarist Jonny Turner thinks about little other than, well, playing the guitar. The co-founder, co-writer and co-producer alongside Joshua has honed his skills in countless bands and shows, learning to translate the electric shocks received he experienced playing rural Romanian bars directly into the energy he now projects on stage.

Joining the gürl group in the summer of 2022, Jay Parker turns up both temperature and volume with four strings and attitude. Creative from the get-go, she received her first guitar as a backcombed, eyelinered, skinny-jean-wearing teenage scene kid – a gift from her parents, alongside early inspiration ranging from Missy Elliot to Green Day and Pink Floyd. Though Jay has since graduated in fashion communication and also shines as a model, stylist, photographer, baker, and connaisseur of salty snacks, her calling is and has always been music, with all the sweat, tears, and blistered fingers that come with it.

KK's Priest premiere 13-minute documentary detailing the return of K.K. Downing and the band's debut performance

KK’s Priest - the iconic heavy metal group of iconic Judas Priest alum and GRAMMY Award winning/nominated musicians K.K. Downing (guitar) and Tim “Ripper” Owens (vocals), along with A.J. Mills (guitar), Tony Newton (bass) and Sean Elg (drums) - will proudly reveal their new sophomore offering, The Sinner Rides Again, on 29th September 2023 via Napalm Records.

Today, in anticipation of the approaching album release, the band has revealed a brand new, 13-minute documentary film directed by up and coming British filmmaker Sam Singer. The piece was filmed at the first official KK’s Priest show on 6th July 2023 at KK’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton, England. The documentary gives a raw, behind-the-scenes look at the band preparing for the concert, and includes exclusive live footage as well as personal commentary from K.K. DowningTim "Ripper" Owens, and the band.

Watch the documentary here: https://youtu.be/Sy2Ntg6tzrU

On the heels of their highly-lauded 2021 debut album, Sermons Of The Sinner, which debuted within the Top 20 on charts in the United States, the UK, Germany, Sweden, Finland and more - KK's Priest return to sin again. With The Sinner Rides AgainKK's Priest double down on the ripping melodic force of their debut, Sermons Of The Sinner - which Metal Hammer UK dubbed “hugely enjoyable” and Metal Injection cited as boasting “catchy hooks and plenty of guitar wizardry”The Sinner Rides Again wields nine tracks of pure hellfire, produced and written by Downing and mixed/mastered by Jacob Hansen.

After stepping out of the Judas Priest spotlight, the return of K.K. Downing was uncertain. Nearly ten years after its onset, the genre-defining guitar icon returned from his hiatus with proof that he was nowhere ready to cease writing classic metal songs or to put away his famous Flying V guitars - taking part in acclaimed international comeback performances (including with his former Judas Priest bandmates when they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November 2022) that would act as harbingers of the formation of KK's Priest.

Downing was recently quoted saying, “We've lost a lot of great people – Dio, Lemmy, for example – but this amazing and unique style of music must be preserved for as long as possible and I feel it within me to continue to play my role, as I always have, and to defend this metal genre, which we all know and love.” The Sinner Rides Again is a testament to this call for the classics while speeding full force into the future, delivered by some of heavy metal’s most essential performers.

Media acclaim highlights for The Sinner Rides Again singles:

"The riffs fly at you at breakneck speed, the harmonized guitar solos are as sweet as they come, and those shreds will most certainly singe an eyebrow or two along the way." - Guitar World

“K.K. Downing at his very best!” - Götz Kühnemund, Deaf Forever

"...tapping into the fist-pumping energy of classic heavy metal like it’s 1983 all over again."
Metal Hammer UK

Global metal stars Alien Weaponry: new video 'Īhenga', celebrating legendary Te Arawa explorer

In 2021, New Zealand's global metal frontrunners Alien Weaponry released their second full-length album, Tangaroa (Napalm Records) - a record immersed in important historical accounts and cultural heritage of the Māori people. The trio's role in uniquely spreading vital tales of their culture to an international audience resulted in recent accolades - last year and for the second time, the band were awarded one of the most significant and prestigious awards in New Zealand’s music industry, the Aotearoa Music Award for Te Kaipuoro Rakapioi Toa (Best Rock Artist).

Today, Alien Weaponry continue to share their history with the release of an artistic new music video for Tangaroa album track 'Īhenga'. The video tells the story of Īhenga - perhaps the greatest explorer of the Te Arawa people - and the nephew of one of the de Jong brothers’ ancestors, Kahumatamomoe.

The singing style on the track is known as mōteatea - an ancient form of poetry or chant sometimes used to convey who you are and where you come from by reciting your landmarks.

The band comment on the video: "When the Te Arawa people first came to Aotearoa (New Zealand) from Hawaiki (greater Tahitian Island group), they set about exploring the new land. Īhenga traveled throughout the North Island of Aotearoa and named many places that still have these names today."

Alien Weaponry won over fans and critics alike with their latest album, TangaroaThe album coalesces the band’s growing maturation with an undisturbed songwriting process, resulting in their most inspired, honest and informed material yet. In addition to lyrics written in te reo Māori, many Tangaroa tracks feature traditional instruments, called taonga puoro, providing the tracks their own warrior-like attitude. While Alien Weaponry sourced inspiration from their culture and environmental surroundings while writing most of Tangaroa, the band also looked inward - drawing vision for other portions of the album from within.

Since releasing their acclaimed debut  (2018), Alien Weaponry's kinetic presence and sound - combining elements of thrash and groove metal with lyrics in the native indigenous language, te reo Māori - has attracted throngs of fans and media supporters across the globe. In addition to amassing millions of cross-platform streams and YouTube views, the band has seen bounds of success at SiriusXM Liquid Metal, was recently hailed the “future of metal” by Metal Hammer and was voted by Revolver Magazine fans as “one of the bands most likely to break out in 2021”.

Furthermore, in the last few years alone, Alien Weaponry has had the privilege of performing with the likes of Guns N' RosesGojiraSlayerBlack Label Society and more.
