US black metal outfit Wratheon sign to Seek and Strike; announce new album Becoming Nil, stream new single

US melodic black metallers Wratheon have signed to Seek and Strike records and announced their new album Becoming Nil, to be released 20th October.

In celebration of the news, Wratheon have also released their first single and video, 'We're All Fallen'. This first taste of Wratheon's new music could be described as Old Man’s Child meets Watain with added multi-layered infectious hooks. Check out the music video below as the band usher in an exhilarating, new era of black metal madness.

Vocalist David comments:

"Our new album, Becoming Nil, is basically the exploration of my feelings with nihilism. Each track has its own horror movie storyline that usually involves finding beauty in small moments. I definitely wanted to make sure that the main theme was prevalent in each song through the melodies and chord structures.

"The video doesn’t go with the storyline of the song. Instead, it's a story of a young professional woman dealing with the very real horrible society norms, unjust working environments and the emotional toll of it all. I chose 'We’re All Fallen,’ as the first single mainly because it's more approachable to a wider audience.

“I'll always prefer the route of an indie label and signing with Seek and Strike is like a dream come true. They allow me creative freedom and a depth of knowledge that really is going to help this partnership thrive."

Florence Black announce second album, UK headline tour & release video for new single 'LOOK UP'

Rising rock trio Florence Black have announced their second album BED OF NAILS, due for release on 1st December. Returning to work with renowned producer Romesh Dodangoda, the album follows their charting debut full-length WEIGHT OF THE WORLD, which cemented them as one of the most electrifying names in UK rock.

Florence Black have also released their new single 'LOOK UP', with a video set to premiere today (22nd September) at 6pm BST.

Check out the video for 'LOOK UP' here: https://youtu.be/C00e7g-IZqk

Pre-order BED OF NAILS here: https://florenceblack.tmstor.es

The band comment:

"Since our debut album release in 2021, we have been really busy touring in the UK and EU and, alongside our busiest touring year in 2022, we had written and demoed more than fifty songs. We spent a long time selecting and arranging our songs and feel that they are not just our best to date, but also the ones that show our development as a band. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved. BED OF NAILS is based around the theme of love. The good, the bad and everything in between that emotion. We had an amazing time in the studio recording it with Romesh. He has helped us to create the exact sound we were aiming for and we believe that we have achieved exactly what we had imagined the album to be.

"'LOOK UP' is a proper driving track. It’s feel good central. The song is about loving someone but being aware of the consequences of doing so. The lyrics are metaphorical and could be interpreted in different ways, like looking forward to the future or being optimistic. The track has a more classical rock feel, a finger picked guitar riff, a driving bassline and huge drums!"

Florence Black have performed at some of Europe’s biggest festivals this summer, including HellfestResurrection and Sweden Rock Festival. The band will conclude 2023 with an appearance at Planet Rockstock

Now Florence Black announce a UK headline tour in support of their upcoming album, set to take place in February.

Back in 2021, the band's standalone single 'BIRD ON A CHAIN' reached number 1 in the iTunes Rock chart. Their anticipated and critically acclaimed debut album WEIGHT OF THE WORLD followed in September, peaking at number 6 in the Official UK Rock & Metal Album Chart, Official UK Physical Album Sales Chart (#25), Official UK Independent Breakers Chart (#3) and Official UK Album Downloads Chart (#33). Singles from the album achieved their own successes: 'CAN YOU FEEL IT?' and fan-favourite 'SUN AND MOON' both became ‘Track of the Week’ in Classic Rock Magazine and both placed highly in the iTunes download chart on release. 'SUN AND MOON' was also added to Planet Rock Radio’s A-list and was highly praised by Kerrang! Magazine.

Florence Black kicked off 2022 with tours alongside Kris Barras Band and Ugly Kid Joe, followed by a tour as special guests on Steel Panther's Res:Erections tour. Solo artist Aiko releases video for new single 'Pedestal'

Moscow born, Czech Republic raised and Brighton-based artist Aiko (pronounced eye-ko) has released a video for her new single 'Pedestal'. The track is taken from her upcoming second album Fortune's child, due for self-release on 13th October.

Pre-save Fortune's child here: https://bfan.link/fortune-s-child

Aiko comments on the new single:

"'Pedestal' was the first song where I allowed myself to truly express the emotions of anger and it was the song to kickstart the rock direction of the album. We worked on the song together with Brighton-based producer Steven Ansell, with whom we have been working for a long time. The song is built on distorted, rockier guitars and drums, combined with a shouty vocal.

"The song talks about negative emotions and situations that a person experiences towards the end of a relationship - when a person keeps apologising to you, but nothing changes, you just keep hearing a lot of empty words. At some point, everything falls into place and you realise that it's time to put yourself first and make yourself the priority. It's a process and it can take a while before one learns to be nice to themselves."

Aiko and her band will embark on a tour in support of the new album, with additional dates added. Get ready to witness her electrifying performances as she brings the energy of Fortune's child to life on stage.

Dates are as follows:

Fortune's child marks a significant evolution in Aiko's sound, as she seamlessly transitions from alternative pop to the edgier realm of pop-rock.

With heavy rock influences, prepare to be enthralled by the thunderous roar of heavy guitars, interplay of haunting vocals, and the intoxicating allure of dark melodies.

Teaming up with renowned producers such as Steven Ansell and Filip Vlček, as well as a talented collaborators from the United States and beyond, Aiko has crafted a sonic experience that pushes boundaries and leaves an indelible mark on your soul.

Fortune's child is a deeply personal exploration of the multifaceted dynamics of relationships. Aiko fearlessly delves into the emotional spectrum, from the intoxicating euphoria of profound love to raw anger and heartbreak of shattered bonds. Each track encapsulates a different phase, inviting you to immerse yourself in the raw intensity and vulnerability of Aiko's musical expression.

The album's title, Fortune's child, reflects Aiko's persistent belief in her own fortune. “I live in a blissfully naive state, where I believe that everything will always work out for me. That everything will be good. Some people might be born lucky, some might create the luckiness for themselves. Nevertheless, ever since I was a child, I believed that I’m very fortunate!”

With an unwavering conviction that everything happens for a reason, Aiko channels her emotions into this captivating body of work, delivering a cathartic and empowering journey for her listeners.

Fortune's child has already garnered attention and acclaim, with featured placements on popular shows Teen Mom and Love IslandAiko was the first Czech artist to appear on Times Square with her song 'Power', as a part of the Spotify Equal programme. Aiko has also had support from BBC Introducing, championed as 'Track Of The Day', as well as support on US radio station KEXP for her track 'Instincts'

Dead Icarus share video for new single 'The Vultures Circle'

Dead Icarus, the new project of former Atreyu lead vocalist and Gold-selling artist Alex Varkatzas, have shared their new single / video 'The Vultures Curcle', streaming now via MNRK Heavy.

Check out the video  here: https://youtu.be/oUk8i81EkxU

"Hands down, this is the heaviest song I've ever been been involved with," Varkatzas says. "It's an 'F you' to the cancel culture that has infected society. 'Savior, Saint, Sinner, or Thief. Live long enough you'll die one of these.' It doesn't matter what's living inside you; it's just about what people wanna believe."

Dead Icarus previously shared the video for the new single 'Sellout'. The track is a hyperkinetic slab of fast-paced, face-ripping metal with layered vocals and a pit-clearing breakdown. The song shows off a different side of the artist's musical personality. It hits hard, but it's also infused with a melody that just won't quit.

A staple of Ozzfest in the mid-2000s with two gold albums, Atreyu are one of the defining bands of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal, alongside groups like Avenged Sevenfold and Lamb Of God. Metalcore classics like The Curse and A Death-Grip on Yesterday were powered by Alex’s distinctive scream.

The band has officially signed a worldwide deal with MNRK Heavy, with a full-length project slated for Spring 2024.

Creeper release new single 'Black Heaven'

Creeper have released their new single 'Black Heaven'. The track is the third single from their vampiric new album Sanguivore, due for release on Friday 13th October via Spinefarm

Check out 'Black Heaven' here: https://youtu.be/lzEmnpRIz38

Stream 'Black Heaven' here: https://creeper.lnk.to/SanguivorePR

Creeper continue to expand the scope of their frenetic, flamboyant goth-punk heart that took their previous album, Sex, Death & The Infinite Void, into the Top 5 of the UK Official Album Chart. First ‘Cry To Heaven’ came across like an unholy union between The Sisters of Mercy and Glenn Danzig, before ‘Teenage Sacrifice’ channelled the ire and anthemic punch of Judas Priest and Iron Maiden in their early ‘80s pomp. Now Creeper embrace a darker side of black with their new single ‘Black Heaven’.

‘Black Heaven’ adds new sonic elements to Creeper's swaggering gothic heart, with looming, ominous synths entangled like barbed wire around guitarist Ian Miles’ serrated riffs, which recall the sinister side of electro-pop and the darkwave scene of the early ‘80s. Presenting an important moment in the story between the album’s core characters, Spook and Mercy, the vocal interplay between vocalist William Von Ghould’s baritone croon and keyboardist/vocalist Hannah Hermione’s sweetly alluring vocal harmonies provides another standout touch, which was inspired by Nick Cave’s collaboration with the McGarrigle Sisters on the Bad Seeds track ‘Hallelujah’.

William Von Ghould says: “This song allows us to show a new side to the band and sees us experimenting with electronic elements properly for the first time. Taking influence from Depeche Mode and New Order, we try to push the boundaries of our sound out further than they’ve been before.”

Produced by Tom Dalgety (GhostRoyal Blood), Sanguivore finds Creeper going larger-than-life in every conceivable way, from Jim Steinman-style ripping rock operas to Billy Idol’s punk/sleaze hybrid, and the moody heavyweight electro-rock of Gary Numan. In a world that’s getting darker by the moment, the vampiric thrills of Sanguivore offers fans a fantastical escape into the unknown, and one that’s full of Easter eggs for those fans who thoroughly immerse themselves within every detail of the record.

Joining the previously announced four vinyl variants, which come with a signed art print, are some new release formats for Sanguivore: a limited edition red cassette and a limited edition card sleeve CD with alternate artwork.

Voyager are:

Danny Estrin (Vocals, Keytar)
A keytar wielding, songwriting powerhouse who is a lawyer by day and a rockstar by night. Not only is Danny an award-winning lawyer, but his multilingual abilities are an asset to Voyager’s live shows all around the world, allowing the band to connect on a deeper level with their international audience, mesmerised by his ‘80s vocal timbre.

Simone Dow (Guitars)
A firecracker of a guitarist whose chronic pain condition only drives her further to succeed. An advocate of migraine awareness, the 7-string guitarist shreds and brings an energy to the stage unmatched by anyone else in the scene.

Scott Kay (Guitars)
Scott’s technical proficiency and energy perfectly compliment his sister in shred, syncopating their efforts on stage and providing a twin attack on guitars. Scott’s philosophical approach to music shines through in his performance, executing a deep and meaningful energy to every live show.

Alex Canion (Bass)
The face of bass, and a killer vocalist to boot. Alex is a force of nature and connects with all his peers on stage in a way that brings a dynamic that is hard to rival in any band. Providing epic moments in the songs alongside a rhythmic foundation, Alex’s personality brings an eccentric and expressive outpour to Voyager’s shows.

Ash Doodkorte (Drums)
The most bombastic drummer you’ll ever see. Leading the charge with impact and momentum, Ash’s drumming is indefatigable. Not only is he a master of his craft, but he also specialises in another craft topic, beer.

Doomgaze quartet Sugar Horse reveal new single from forthcoming EP

The monolithically UK heavy quartet Sugar Horse have streamed their new single 'III - Consquences', another slice of their forthcoming mesmeric new EP, Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico (3rd November, Fat Dracula Records/distributed by Metal Blade Records in US).

Listen to 'III - Consequences' here: https://youtu.be/bF2sQczbfs0

Pre-order and stream Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico here: https://li.sten.to/Consequences

An epic achievement, Truth... is, in signature Sugar Horse style, one single long song: a meditation and exploration of everything the note A has to offer.

Sugar Horse comment on the new single:  "This section kind of feels like stepping into the eye of a particularly lengthy storm. It’s a short reprieve where we break everything down before climbing back up that staircase again. Lyrically it describes the catharsis of art. You can take in any pain, hurt and bullshit from day to day like, then use it to generate something positive and beautiful. There’s something I find unbelievably beautiful in that kind of genesis. It’s probably the closest I come to any kind of religious thought. You take hell and turn it into heaven."

Telling the story of Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico, the band state: "It’s frequently been difficult for us, as a band, to limit ourselves to “normal” pop song lengths and structures….as evidenced in pretty much all of our releases to date. From time to time we feel the need to loose the ropes that bind us and let our Long & Tedious flag fly freely. Truth Or Consequences, New Mexico is the result of said untethering.

"We’ve always found the idea of exploring a single note over long stretches of time interesting and this song is that idea taken to an extreme logical conclusion. It’s an exploration of the note A in all its possible variations."

Sugar Horse are riding high following the release of their storied collaborative EP Waterloo Teeth, which features members of HeriotConjurerIDLESBiffy Clyro, and many more.

A lot of people take the name Sugar Horse to be a drug reference - perhaps fitting for a band that sound like the last moments of a three-day binge. Darting wildly between dark/light, pain/bliss, sacred/profane, Sugar Horse are unpredictable and unrestrained.

Formed in what is now considered to be the utopian dreamscape of 2015, the band grew slowly at first. Far from fully formed, but steadily gaining limbs, heads and vital organs. Finally, 2019’s DRUJ followed swiftly by 2020’s DRUGS saw them hit on a relentless stride of eclectic releases that simultaneously confused and entranced audiences.

2021 saw the band encamp in a former Lutheran church to record their debut album, The Live Long After, releasing it via Brighton’s own Small Pond Records. Publications such as The Quietus describing the record as “shift[ing] dispositions fluidly, taking elements of extreme aggression alongside floaty Post-Metal” and Echoes & Dust calling it “a monumental achievement”. The album took every disparate element that Sugar Horse previously employed and amplified them, while juxtaposing each next to each other, with genuinely unpredictable and exciting consequences.

2022 saw no relent from the band’s fast pace release schedule, as they put out an anthemic shoegaze single in 'Pictures Of Dogs Having Sex', followed swiftly by the Waterloo Teeth EP. A release that paired Sugar Horse’s terrifying eclecticism with guest appearances from twelve other artists in just four short(ish) songs. Each artist coming from a different area of the modern British music scene, whether that be world conquering post-punk bass lines from IDLES’ Adam Devonshire, heavy titans Conjurer and Pupil Slicer’s throat crippling wails, or a shredding guitar solo from Biffy Clyro/Oceansize axe wielder Mike Vennart. The EP packs in an album’s worth of genre mutilating twists and turns into just 25 minutes of music.
