Having celebrated 25 years as a band, High On Fire have inspired countless others in their time - riding high on a wave of thunder and tumult.

The trio - now consisting of Matt Pike (vocals/guitar), Coady Willis (drums) and Jeff Matz (bass) - return to the UK for their first shows in two years.

Through eight full-lengths and a number of live releases and EPs, the punching command of High On Fire has established the band as an unmatched and wholly unmistakable force in the realm of heavy metal.

Beginning with 2000’s The Art of Self Defense, the band joined independent label Relapse Records in 2001, and unleashed what would become three of the most dynamically influential heavy music releases of the 21st Century thus far with Surrounded by Thieves (2002), Blessed Black Wings (2005), and Death Is This Communion (2007).

A year after signing with the highly-regarded eOne Music, High On Fire released 2010’s Snakes for the Divine, a powerhouse record that saw the band supporting Metallica in the same year. With widely respected producer/engineer Kurt Ballou at the helm, 2012’s De Vermis Mysteriis brought High On Fire immediate and virtually universal acclaim, before 2015's monstrous Luminiferous confirmed the band's status as the litmus test for all things heavy.

Not content to rest, 2018's Electric Messiah many acclaimed as the band's best, and confirmed the trio within the ranks of metal royalty, winning that year's GRAMMY for Best Metal Performance.

In the wake of an extraordinary year for Kassogtha, following the success of their last album rEvolve, which included a triumphant European tour and numerous unforgettable shows, the band finds themselves more determined than ever to conquer new heights in their genre.

'Rise' is a manifestation of this hunger, born from the band's relentless pursuit of their life goals. Born out of pure passion, the song encapsulates the essence of fighting against the odds and pushing boundaries. The blend of brutality and catchiness creates a sonic experience where death metal influences intertwine with harsh and empowering vocals, forging a unique musical journey.

Lyrically, 'Rise' delivers a powerful message, a testament to the band's connection with their fans. The song is a dedication to those who find solace and strength in Kassogtha's music, especially those facing challenging situations. Through this song, Kassogtha aim to unite fans with a common message of courage, resilience, and the pursuit of their dreams.

As Kassogtha continue to break barriers, 'Rise' stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment to both their craft and their fans.

Feb 09: Birmingham The Devil's Dog
Feb 10: Bournemouth Bear Cave

Kassogtha stand for old school riffs and progressive inspiration, authenticity and sincerity above smoke and mirrors, savage grooves and blast beats, creativity and speed, and pure, honest dedication to their craft: a genuine metal band for true metal fans that takes the genre further without abandoning its core ingredients. From Pink Floyd to Gojira, Kassogtha’s no-nonsense brand of groovy progressive death metal combines a variety of influences to create a steamrolling fusion of irresistible riffs, neck-breaking drums and a vocal range covering brutal growls counteracting ethereal melodies.

In November 2022, these fast-rising progressive death metallers emerged from Fascination Street Studios in Sweden with guns blazing and released their second album rEvolve. The songs were perfected with producer/recording engineer David Castillo (Carcass, Opeth, Leprous) and mixing engineer Linus Corneliusson (Ihsahn, Amorphis). The album release was followed up by a UK tour with Cellar Darling and a mostly sold-out tour with Avatar in Europe.

Laid-back jazz-prog guitarist Waxamilion releases new video for single 'Pawn Island'

Austrian instrumental guitar project Waxamilion have shared a music video for their single 'Pawn Island', taken from their second album Random Notes which was released on 29th December.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/fs-fKGM0Ekg

Stream the album here: https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/waxamilion/random-notes

Max Dornauer, the man behind the project, comments: “This tune is fast paced and chaotic, especially in the opening third, which is characterised by a certain guitar technique called selective picking (made popular by Tosin Abasi of Animals as Leaders). That technical section is followed by a more chill middle part, and the song ends in a prog metal riff-oriented outro. All of that happens in only two and a half minutes, making it quite a rollercoaster ride. This song, even though it’s short, is a very Waxamilion-style tune, in the sense that new listeners can get a good picture of what the rest of my catalogue sounds like”.

Max "Waxamilion" Dornauer, hailing from the serene landscapes of Austria, is a musician known for his easygoing style and knack for blending genres. Starting his musical journey at the tender age of six against the backdrop of the Alps, the jazz-influenced guitarist has grown into an experimental songwriter and a production fanatic.

Operating under the alias Waxamilion, Max has built a devoted fanbase through a DIY approach. Collaborating with notable artists like Jack Gardiner, Charlie Robbins (Artificial Language), Marcos Mena (Standards), Forrest Rice (Covet), Stephen Taranto (The Helix Nebula), Richard Henshall (Haken), Wes Thrailkill, Travis Orbin, and Dan James Griffin has added depth to his musical repertoire.

Max's musical fusion is a laid-back blend of RnB sophistication and the rhythmic vibes of progressive rock and metal. He effortlessly merges angular guitar lines with mellow hip-hop beats, crafting an engaging sound that occasionally ventures into exhilarating spontaneity.

Taking his tunes on the road, Waxamilion achieved a notable milestone by playing a support show for Unprocessed in Los Angeles in April 2023. This experience, coupled with captivating audiences in the United States, Mexico, and India, highlights Max's commitment to expanding his reach on the global stage.

Notably, he released his sophomore album, Random Notes, on 29th December 2023, marking a new chapter and his first album available on vinyl, adding an extra layer of warmth to his musical catalog.

Bears in Trees are aficionados of life. If there’s one thing the four-piece has become synonymous with, it’s wholesome, warm and humorous serotonin-boosting melodies. ‘Things That Look Like Mistakes’ is quintessential Bears in Trees; it is awash with positivity, and acts as an anecdotal ode to the minute but joyful moments that we often brush aside in our hectic human existence. “It’s easy to fall for cynicism, become burnt out searching for answers that aren’t there, or become overwhelmed by existence,” says vocalist/bassist Iain. “This song is about slowing down, stepping back, and reconnecting with the small moments of joy in your life. dancing in your socks with a glass of wine. Going to concerts. Really listening to nature’s stirring. It may not be a permanent solution to feeling a lack of meaning in life, but remembering to embody those moments of peace is important.”

The upcoming album, How to Build an Ocean: Instructions, is a project doused in personal conflict, but simultaneously a love letter to the normal and how beauty can be found in just being. Charged with references to literature, philosophy and film, as well as first hand experiences, the band explore thoughts of what it means to find purpose when everything feels purposeless, all whilst ultimately instructing themselves to find “small joys in the face of cosmic indifference.” Produced by George Perks (Enter Shikari, The Doves, You Me At Six), How to Build an Ocean: Instructions marks an exciting new development for Bears in Trees, being the first album they’ve recorded with the help of consultants outside of the band themselves, having previously relied on drummer George’s expertise, who outside of the band, works as an engineer at Subfrantic Studios

Tenderness, triumph, and a totally unashamed feeling of enjoying the ride whilst they're on it, How to Build an Ocean: Instructions is their definitive statement. Though no matter how far this record takes them, the most important thing is that they are together and doing what they love. Because when all is said and done, that's the connection that will last a lifetime. "We started the band because we loved hanging out with our friends and wanted to make stupid music together," Iain concludes. "That's always been the reason, and it hasn't changed. All we want to do is make what we do as honest and authentic as possible. That's what it means to be in the Bears in Trees business."

The record started to take its early form as far back as November 2022, when the band were still reeling from the release of their 2021 full-length and everybody else smiled back. That explains why it feels like the most mature and marinated version of Bears in Trees. There was honesty in the songwriting selection process; there’s a different depth than in past offerings. It embraces that Bears in Trees isn't the same as it was at the beginning of their journey, that pressure, debate and dispute are necessary to move forward.

The artwork is a testimonial to the band’s hometown of Croydon, marking places they've existed across their adolescence and into adulthood, such as Lloyd Park, a location reminiscent of turning 18 and being obsessed with Monster Energy, to Floor 13, an abandoned floor in a car park where they used to hang out as kids. "For us, Croydon is all about the history you feel when you're going to work or to the studio every day, and you're getting the same bus you got to school," guitarist Nick ponders. "You're seeing all of these places from your past. We are surrounded by our memories no matter what." They had returned to the town after an extended period on the road, including a support slot in the UK with You Me At Six and a trek across the US. Though appreciative of how their borough had shaped them, it was difficult not to feel like they had taken a step backwards. Watching friends move whilst remaining in the same location they did as teenagers proved challenging to adapt to. From that feeling, came inspiration for the record.

Connoisseurs of the digital age, the band built their reputation themselves from scratch, foregoing the traditional media routes and climbing the social media ropes. They obtained millions of likes on TikTok and engaged with their fanbase proactively on Discord and Patreon, before ever dipping their toes in the music industry support pool. This impressive knowledge of navigating internet culture, paired with their vivacious, comedic charm, and easy listening and bright bops have earned them a passionate and loyal following of  ‘sandboxes’ (the allocated fanbase name), saw them sell out London’s Electric Ballroom and play alongside artists such as Pale Waves, NOAHFINNCE, Waterparks, The Maine and Lovejoy, as well as scoring festival slots at Slam Dunk, 2000trees, Community and many more.
