Metallic hardcore quartet R.A.I.D have released their new EP Dominion, alongside a lyric video for their new single 'D.I.N.A.S.'. R.A.I.D use their platform to shine a light on mental health, and more specifically the topic of suicide.

Vocalist Rueban Issac comments: "The song title 'D.I.N.A.S.' is an abbreviation for Death Is Not A Solution. The song focuses on people having suicidal thoughts. It is important to hang onto your life, because everyone has experienced pain and sorrow before in their life. That you should seek comfort in your friends and accept their hand if they are willing to reach out to you. This song can let a person know that their negative emotions are being taken seriously, and to hold onto your life."

On the EP Dominion, Issac elaborates: "R.A.I.D has always been a band focused on lyrically sharing a positive/motivational/uplifting message. Our new offering Dominion is musically and lyrically charged to prevent a person from ending their life. We have seen some of our close and dear friends who have gone through the worst in their life and chose death as the final solution. This has fueled us to create an EP with an intent to heal and help people in finding the right support. Dominion takes the listener on a journey of hope and recovery. From dopamine responses, to addressing depressive states, to being a vehicle for messages of hope and resilience, we believe that the songs on the EP not only raise an awareness on suicide, but also, provide a bridge to prevention."

Hyderabad, India’s newest old school hardcore/crossover thrash metal powerhouse R.A.I.D (Rueban And the Imperium Division) were founded in June 2016 by vocalist Rueban Issac. 

R.A.I.D draw musical influence from hardcore legends such as Madball, Suicidal Tendencies, Agnostic Front and Hatebreed. Lyrically, the quartet focus on the classic ethos of hardcore, PMA (Positive Mental Attitude). R.A.I.D strive to breathe fresh music into a generic scene, pushing both music and lyrics to their fullest potential.

R.A.I.D have released three albums to date: The Strong Survive (2018), Imperium (2019) and Defiance (2022). Sunnata commented on the new single: "You’re doomed, adrift through life, and have no control. That’s what it’s all about. 

"'Wishbone' is the first song written for what later became Chasing Shadows, our new album. Although at the first glimpse it seems to be a simple song, it has a couple of twists hidden in its meanings and technicalities. Let’s start from the fact that in contrary to a popular custom, we think that you won’t have your wish granted and the lyrical theme explores the idea of having very limited control over your life, or insignificance of made choices as the end-result. 

"Secondly, when our drummer Robert created this ear-worming groove, he wanted to sneak it in to at least 2 other songs, cause he couldn’t stop playing it. Eventually it also led him to writing the crazy ass middle-eastern drums for another section of the song. 

"And last but not least - it’s the first song from Chasing Shadows which we have ever performed live and we decided to drop a video from this performance for the single premiere! The song was quite fresh to us during the recording, but we are proud to reveal yet another piece of the most complex record of ours to date. Preach!" 

Hailing from Warsaw, Poland, the four-piece doom metal sorcerers have been forging their own path towards the celestial realms of metal since their debut album Climbing The Colossus in 2014. Anyone familiar with our discography can easily tell that both change and experimentation are part of our nature, but at the same time - the constant need to push ourselves outside of the comfort zone, go beyond - is what stretches one's limits. German prog metal act The Hirsch Effekt will join Caligula's Horse on their extensive European tour, including UK dates. Following the trio's recent appearances on stage as support for Leprous as part of their Urian album tour, they will now be joining the Australian prog band for 17 dates in May. 

Hitting #21 in the German album charts, appearances at Wacken, ArcTanGent, UK Tech-Fest, Full Force and as headliners at Euroblast, The Hirsch Effekt have recently caused quite a stir in the scene. In September 2023, Urian, the band's sixth studio album, was released via Long Branch Records.

A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament), the follow-up to the unit’s highly successful 2021 full-length, Escape of the Phoenix (which landed at numerous chart positions worldwide), reveals a 10 track mélange of which every note, every riff and every word seeps pure poetry – creating a ceaseless intensity that mesmerises from the very first second.

18-year-old talent Hunter Oliveri has released a video for his new single ‘Novocain', out now via Spinefarm. It's a raunchy, grungy, guitar-driven banger with equally evocative lyrical bite. 

The video was self-shot by Oliveri and his friends, and the fish-eye lens captures the IRL good times had by a bunch of teenage friends throughout the day. It's gloriously low budget, but big vibes.

"'Novocain' is about how the world is going to hell and we're embracing it," Oliveri explains. “Leaning into the void. Everyone has a good nature to an extent but most people just seem soulless and numb nowadays due to the overstimulation, oversaturation, and overcommercialisation of everything."

Regarding the accompanying video, Oliveri adds: "I directed the 'Novocain' video with my homie Corbin. It's special to me because even though it wasn't a big budget video - the most expensive part was the Slurpees - it does capture me and my friends hanging around just like we do every day. It felt really normal and like 'us.' Our day-to-day. There was minimal prep and planning. We just did what we thought felt good in the moment."

TURIN says, "As well as it being an acronym for TURIN it's been at the heart of this album's concept for all the lyrics. All five of us have been in situations where we act like nothing's wrong or bothering us, the reality of doing that is unforgiving. It harms us. It can impact those around us and often the reality of the situation doesn't change until we speak up and look for support. In some cases, forgiveness. We wrote this song at the tail end of the COVID lockdown in the UK as a way for us to reinvent our sound and push forward with whatever the next stage of this band would be, what came from it was a new album and a new drive to evolve what we have."

New single 'Loss' is a self-reflective view of losing a fundamental part of yourself that made you human. ACCEPT have never shied away from hot button issues, and this album is no exception. Yet the band’s 17th studio album is certainly not a concept album. It deals with topics like AI and how our reliance on technology is gradually stripping away our individuality. ACCEPT offers a warning in this new album and title track single Humanoid. Since singer Mark Tornillo will never be an advocate for the digital age, he counterbalances the title track with raw emotions, frailties, significant Rites of Passage we encounter on the path of life and characteristics that make us uniquely human: feeling uncomfortable, getting older, dealing with hurt, disappointment, and the final stop for everyone: death.

Humanoid is a ferociously electrifying, dynamic and subtly nuanced platter with tongue in cheek humour, as heard in biblical references on 'The Reckoning' – an ode to concert audiences – a thrilling new spin on the “Frankenstein” story and 'Straight Up Jack' – a track that surely would have been a Bon Scott approved drinking song.

The opening track 'Diving into Sin' gives listeners a hair-raising energetic jolt with its Middle Eastern influenced intro, and an almost aggressive, screaming vocal from Tornillo setting the rest of the album up for a most bountiful feast. 'Unbreakable' is as much about the band as it is the bond between ACCEPT and their fans, in the concert arena – an easy going “Hey, let’s do this” kind of rock song. 'Mind Games' on the other hand, has a vintage feel, circa 'Metal Heart'. 'No One Gets Out Alive' seems tailor-made for live shows. It says that regardless of life's circumstances, rich, famous, or not, death is the great equaliser. Upbeat and aggressive with guitar interplay, 'Southside Of Hell' ends the disc with a wonderful bit of wordplay, courtesy of Tornillo.
