'The Key Of Solomon' is a straight up classic heavy metal song. A lumbering, thunderous riff straight from the book of Black Sabbath, epic 70’s soloing and that unmistakable Battlesnake sermon vocal delivery.

Of the track, Battlesnake state; “A ghastly sorceress who dwells in the catacombs of the Motorsteeple. Brewing potions and drawing pentagrams as she recites ‘the lesser key of Solomon’. She is the abbey's navigator. Long Live The Dungeon Witch!"

Battlesnake have already set tongues ablaze in the Australian scene - a seven-piece vortex emerging from the depths of the underworld. With a powerful sound that can best be described as the genetically-engineered cyborg super-child of Queen, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and Judas Priest, the band have quickly gained a reputation for their high-impact live performance and epic, theatrical songwriting.

Battlesnake released their debut EP in 2020, a powerful 6-track release entitled Myths and Legends from Gorbag's Domain. Their first full-length, self-titled, followed in 2023 - exploding them into the wider Australian consciousness. Recently the band have supported titans KISS on their End of The World Tour, The Smashing Pumpkins and Jane’s Addiction on the The World Is a Vampire tour.

Now, Battlesnake are marching forward, and laying the foundations for their biggest year yet. Mortals tremble, all hail Battlesnake!

Blackened death unit TURIN release new single/video 'Hopeless Solutions' (MNRK Heavy)

UK heavyweights of misery, the intense & visceral TURIN (formerly This Is Turin), have unveiled their latest single 'Hopeless Solutions' from their upcoming album The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing, scheduled for release via MNRK Heavy on 12th July. This single offers an unapologetic look into the brutal truths of the human experience, delving into themes of mental health, the erosion of faith, and the arduous journey of releasing trauma in a fervent pursuit of self-discovery.

TURIN says, "‘Hopeless Solutions’ is a brutal & uncompromising anti-establishment death metal anthem, that focuses on how twisted and broken humanity has become. The feeling of fighting tooth and nail to defy corruption, greed and tyranny but ultimately failing as history repeats itself.”

The upcoming album The Unforgiving Reality In Nothing promises a soul-crushing, savage, and remarkably abrasive musical experience. Seamlessly weaving through beautifully poignant symphonic death metal, hauntingly melancholic deathcore, and technically bold post-metal, TURIN have crafted a sonic landscape meant to be traversed. Each track presents a unique perilous journey, from the relentless onslaught of 'Abyssal' to the desolate introspection of 'Reflections,' the contemplative intensity of 'I Am The Truth,' and the raw power of 'Loss.' With each ebb and flow, listeners are drawn deeper into the abyss, culminating in the poignant finale 'Our Reality In Nothing,' a fusion of lush strings and crushing riffs that stands as the band's most personal and impactful composition to date. This track embodies a culmination of dark emotions, infused with the collective experiences and realisations of all five members, encapsulating the essence of existing within emptiness and finding solace in it. It is a creation that is both ethereal and grounded in reality, offering both escapism and a profound awakening.

Teaming up with their trusted collaborator Mike Bennett at Fox Hound Studio, as well as enlisting the expertise of esteemed UK heavy metal producer and multiple Heavy Music Awards nominee Lewis Johns (known for his work with bands like Loathe, Rolo Tomassi, Ithaca, Employed To Serve, Svalbard, Conjurer and Pupil Slicer), TURIN sought to refine their sound and elevate their artistic vision to new heights. The outcome is a creation unlike any previous endeavour by the band, showcasing a fresh and innovative direction in their musical evolution.

Influenced by a diverse range of extreme music subgenres, TURIN are known for their bludgeoning live shows, earning them Kerrang’s MCN Live Award with appearances at the UK’s top festivals such as Bloodstock Open Air and Tech Fest plus supports with Martyr Defiled, Decapitated, Within Destruction, Hacktivist, Ingested, SikTh, Origin, Dragged Into Sunlight and a collab with Thy Art Is Murder’s CJ McMahon on 2020's ‘Misery’.

The Oklahoma Kid release new single 'No Sympathy'

Modern metal quintet The Oklahoma Kid have released a video for their brand new single 'No Sympathy', out now via Arising Empire. Known for their very own blend of genres, the avant-garde five-piece never fall shy of pushing the boundaries and breaking old conventions.

Check out the visualiser for 'No Sympathy' here: https://youtu.be/Xy8Z9nsIDyo

Stream 'No Sympathy' here: https://arisingempire.com/nosympathy

With lyrics that cut through the facade, 'No Sympathy' confronts betrayal and personal empowerment. As the raw vocals declare, "I can see right through you," the band delve into the complexities of resilience and self-realisation. 'No Sympathy' challenges listeners to confront their emotions and take control of their own fate. With its powerful message and intense energy, this track is sure to leave a lasting impression.

The song is about the struggles faced by vocalist Tomm Brümmer as he entered adulthood. This is his take on toxic masculinity for himself and the those, especially FLINTA (German for LGBTQ+), who suffer from it. He commented: "You are heard, I will do my best for a change."

The Oklahoma Kid deliver breathtaking modern metal that bridges the gap between technical intricacy and energising rhythms. Since forming in 2012 the band - consisting of David J. BurtscherFred StölzelRobert ElfenbeinTomm Brümmer and Andreas Reinhard - have consistently pushed boundaries and have established their foundation in the German metal scene.

After their successful debut album Solarray (2019) and struck by the global pandemic, The Oklahoma Kid set their focus on writing new music with one simple goal in mind, to better themselves and give every fan something to crave for - their 2022 album Tangerine Tragic.

Tangerine Tragic is built on the strengths of their debut Solarray. It plays with new ideas and concepts, comes gentle as a breeze and strikes hard as a wrecking ball. The album was recorded and produced by Jan Kerscher (Ghost City Recordings) and mixed and mastered by Lance Prenc (Alpha WolfPolarisDealer), which gives the production its full-blown punch.

The Oklahoma Kid toured the country with renowned acts such as Stick To Your Guns, Carnifex, Evergreen Terrace and Hatebreed, electrifying crowds with their passionate, relentless performance.

The Oklahoma Kid are no longer an insider tip and a force to be reckoned with. Whether you experience them live at a festival or on record in your living room, The Oklahoma Kid will change your perception of what metal is capable of.

Tomm Brümmer | Vocals
Fred Stölzel | Guitar

Modern power metal icons Unleash The Archers unveil new single 'Blood Empress'

Canada’s most exciting metal band, power metal powerhouse Unleash The Archers, recently announced the upcoming release of their game-changing sixth studio album, Phantoma, out 10th May (Napalm Records).

Following their highly-acclaimed latest singles 'Green & Glass', 'Ghosts In The Mist' and 'Seeking Vengeance', today the band ushers in release week with epic album closer anthem 'Blood Empress'. The track tells a bittersweet tale with spine-tingling, grooving choruses before closing with a grandiose blastbeat attack amid a sea of voices.

Watch the new video here: https://youtu.be/Xx5Le0L7rOs

Pre-order Phantoma here: https://lnk.to/UTA-Phantoma/napalmrecords

On the new concept album, listeners join protagonist Phantoma, a Phase 4 / Network Tier 0 unit -model A, on an inspiring yet harrowing journey as she discovers the brutal truths behind the manufactured sheen of social media posturing on a dystopian, near-future planet Earth. With the band’s one-of-a-kind blend of power metal, traditional heavy metal, modern prog and pop sensibilities, Phantoma spins a web of sharp musicality, high sci-fi concept and important social commentary.

Vocalist Brittney Slayes on 'Blood Empress': "This was the last song that we wrote for the album and we wrote it together in our Airbnb while we were recording. We always like to save one song to write together in the studio to give a kind of snapshot of the headspace we were in while recording, and this one was a ton of fun. We wanted to do a bit more of a radio rock track and have it be something simple that would be a blast to play live and potentially end the set with. The album story ends with Phantoma having destroyed both The Collective and the Human Council that once stood against her, but now she had all of robotkind and humankind looking to her for where to go next. We wanted the song to feel dark but also triumphant, and to hopefully be catchy enough to make the listener want to start the album all over again. The video was filmed once again by RuneGate Studio and they did an awesome job with finding a set that could parry between both the synthetic and the human sides of the story. We all love this track in UTA and hope that you all can bang your heads to it too!"

Phantoma follows the band's 2020 breakout album, Abyss, which won the JUNO Award for
Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year after debuting at #1 on the US Current Hard Music and Top New Artist charts, and was dubbed by Bandcamp as “a mandatory listen” upon release.

Intertwining reality with imagination, Unleash The Archers were inspired to utilise elements of AI during the creation of Phantoma, in keeping with its future-facing theme. Frontwoman and lyricist Brittney Slayes conjured the album's concept in 2021; before the swarm of pressing commentary surrounding AI began to reach an all-time high. With the band’s one-of-a-kind blend of power metal, traditional heavy metal, modern prog and pop sensibilities, Unleash The Archers spin a web of sharp musicality, high sci-fi concept and important social commentary about discovering the brutal truths behind the manufactured sheen of social media posturing.

The band weaved electronic and synthwave elements throughout the album’s 10 colossal anthems, which - in line with its theme - prove much darker and heavier in comparison to the bright positivity of Abyss. Album opener 'Human Era' sets the tone with imagery of a bleak, windswept futurescape that crescendoes headlong into the breakneck pace of power metal bastion 'Ph4/NT0mA' - a masterwork of duelling guitar solos and vocal acrobatics. Trad-metal influenced 'Buried In Code' lights the way with pummelling rhythms before the album’s path turns dark on heavy metal hardened 'The Collective', with Brittney Slayes’ warm tones inviting the listener to ‘join or stand aside’! Hair-raising first single 'Green & Glass' unveils the truth before the upbeat 80s-flavoured 'Gods In Decay' and the extraordinary balladic anthem 'Give It Up Or Give It All' showcase the varied songwriting prowess of Unleash The Archers’ modern era. A trifecta of concept closers begins with the moody 'Ghosts In The Mist', leading into the soaring yet menacing 'Seeking Vengeance' before closing with the bittersweet tale of 'Blood Empress'.

Mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen, and with lead guitarist Andrew Kingsley at the helm as both principal songwriter and producer, Phantoma is an exciting advancement in Unleash The Archers’ songwriting and storytelling mastery, and a giant leap forward in their towering musical trajectory.

Norwegian prog masters Rendezvous Point stream new single 'Utopia'

Norwegian progressive metal masters Rendezvous Point release new single 'Utopia, taken from their highly anticipated third full-length Dream Chaser, due 21st June 2024 via Long Branch Records.

Watch the video to 'Utopia' here: https://youtu.be/mFk-ILUZlzA

Stream the single and pre-order Dream Chaser here: https://rendezvouspoint.lnk.to/dreamchaser

Singer Geirmund Hansen comments on the new single 'Utopia': "As a child you often search for ideals and someone to look up to. Very often, you can find those ideals in close family relations, and they become your guide. Later in life there’s a breaking point where you must find your own path and that sometimes can lead to a lacking feeling of belonging and you end up in the middle of two different spheres, Dystopia."

Following the footsteps from their critically acclaimed sophomore album Universal Chaos, the five-piece around Leprous drummer Baard Kolstad, keyboardist Nicolay Tangen Svennæs, singer Geirmund Hansen, guitarist Petter Hallaråker and bass player Gunn-Hilde Erstad continue to push boundaries with more concise songwriting and a wider focus on groove, riffs, melodies and hooks.

Dream Chaser delves deep into the realm of artistic exploration, focusing on the relentless pursuit of perfection. “Artists often strive a whole lifetime searching for something abstract, a feeling of perfection in what you do or create. Since it’s an abstract and subjective thing, the artists‘ search for perfection often results in a lifetime of always wanting more, better, bigger and deeper. This leads to chasing something unclear and un-touchable, like a dream. It seems real and reachable, but never is,“ comment the band.

With themes ranging from societal disillusionment to personal growth, Dream Chaser  offers a compelling glimpse into the human experience. Rendezvous Point invite listeners to join them on their journey exploring the complexities of modern existence and the depths of emotional turmoil.

Rising Insane unveil new single 'Burn'

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/cFkwytMuoUU

Stream the single and pre-order Wildfires here: https://risinginsane.lnk.to/wildfires

"'Burn' was the last song we wrote for Wildfires", comments singer Aaron Steineker. "We were somehow still missing a song with that certain something that you could start a show with. I can still remember the situation: I was getting dressed when the idea for 'Burn' popped into my head out of nowhere. I had to sprint upstairs to my cell phone before the idea got lost again and then made a three-minute video explaining the entire song to myself so that none of it would be forgotten. Within 2 hours, Sven (guitar) and I finished the instrumental, and after another day I recorded the vocals. It was by far the most fluid songwriting process we've ever had and we can't wait to open our shows with that song."

'Burn' follows previous singles 'Malicious' and 'Reign', taken from Wildfires. The album takes an in-depth look at the consequences of our collective abstinence from empathy and challenges listeners to ignite their inner flame for change. It is an urgent call to break out of the darkness.

While Rising Insane remain true to their post-hardcore and metalcore roots on Wildfires, the band have evolved both collectively and individually, which is clearly reflected in the new and fresh sound.

Rising Insane singer Aaron Steineker comments on Wildfires"Over the last two years, I have felt that there is a huge source of strife lurking around every corner. All we have to do is pick up our cell phone and we're immediately thrown into a hate-filled sea of conflict, there's so much hate everywhere. You get the feeling that the world around us is on fire when you add war, global warming, inflation and depression to the mix. That's how this album got the title Wildfires. Each song on the album is about a specific trouble spot, themes and stories that have weighed on me while writing. Our goal is to create awareness through our music of how much we burden ourselves and each other instead of focusing on things that connect us and create positivity."

Rising Insane are:

EVERGREY reveal new single 'Say'

EVERGREY, Gothenburg's finest export of darkness, unveil their eagerly awaited second single, 'Say', together with an official music video.

Taken from forthcoming album Theories of Emptiness (7th June, Napalm Records), you can watch the video for 'Say' here: https://youtu.be/ytsJUzztleM

Pre-order the album here: https://lnk.to/EG-TheoriesOfEmptiness/napalmrecords

The heartfelt track seamlessly blends raw heaviness with enchanting keyboards and unexpected instrumental parts, offering an unparalleled melodic progressive metal experience, along with the outstanding vocal offering of band mastermind Tom S. Englund.

EVERGREY on 'Say': "’Say’ is one of those songs that immediately when we wrote the chorus we knew that it would be an awesome single. It will simply kill live and is a very worthy follow-up to the success of ‘Falling From the Sun’. Regarding the end of the video there will of course be questions, a lot of questions, we have the answers."

Since the announcement of their new release, Theories of Emptiness has been hailed by critics all over the world, being called “a flawless piece of progressive metal" by Powerplay Magazine (UK), “an early candidate for the honorary title of ‘hard rock album of the year’, as well as “perhaps their best album ever” by Sweden Rock Magazine, and ranking on top of the soundcheck of German Rock Hard magazine. With this upcoming musical genius, EVERGREY impressively prove themselves once more as a force to be reckoned with and show a seemingly endless flow of top-notch creativity that sees no bounds.

Theories of Emptiness was produced by Tom S. Englund and Jonas Ekdahl, and was mixed by Adam "Nolly" Getgood (ex-Periphery), who worked closely with the band from the start - bringing out the vividness of the album’s overall sonic profile. Rounding out the album’s production, mastering was helmed by Thomas “Plec” Johansson (Soilwork, The Night Flight Orchestra, Onslaught, The Gems, Eleine and many more).

Theories of Emptiness follows its chart-topping and critically acclaimed predecessor, 2022’s A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament), which entered charts worldwide at #3 in Sweden (Metal), ranked #5 on the Top New Artist Albums charts in the United States, entered #7 in Finland and #12 in Germany.

“For us, progression is paramount”, states Tom S. Englund when discussing the eleven track opus, Theories of Emptiness. “We're dedicated to ensuring that our music remains innovative and avoids stagnation. With each album, we strive to introduce something new — a unique flavor, a different key or chord, fresh voices in our writing, or innovative production techniques.” In fact, no stone has been left unturned. Tracks are created to balance each-other mutually: from the aggressive tones of 'Misfortune' contrasting the light-hearted opening of 'To Become Someone Else', to the ballad 'Ghost of My Hero' leading into the furious riffs of 'We Are the North'. Album opener 'Falling From the Sun' and 'Say' interweave heaviness with mesmerising keyboards and unpredictable instrumental parts, as also heard on 'The Night Within'. On 'Cold Dreams', Englund’s distinctive voice is accompanied by Jonas Renkse of fellow Swedish metal icons Katatonia, splicing the song with a stellar performance that underlines another intense facet of the album. In addition, Englund’s daughter Salina provides lush backing vocals that enhance the song’s dynamics even more. Ending on a quiet note, Theories of Emptiness depicts exactly what emptiness is about, first with the immersive 'Our Way Through Silence', and then with 'A Theory of Emptiness' which, with timid piano, makes us rationalise our innermost feelings. Navigating realms of darkness and light, Theories of Emptiness takes listeners on a carefully balanced roller coaster ride - showcasing EVERGREY's ever-evolving sound in 2024 and beyond.

Tom Englund adds: “Our new album is soon to be yours! We can’t wait for that to happen, there are so many new and refreshing elements on it as well as respect paid to every part of our past. We have just refined what we always have done and tried to make it as contemporary as we possibly could to please ourselves and our sonic expectations. With the presence of Adam ”Nolly” Getgood, we felt fired up, hungry and eager to do our utmost to ensure that we would write the best songs we possibly could - I really feel we have achieved that. Sound quality wise we feel that it is on par with the best the world has to offer today. It is a brave statement that I will stand behind for the rest of my life. Taking EVERGREY into a new cycle feels just as when I did it the first time. We are more motivated than ever, and with a lot of touring to be announced very soon, we cannot wait to come and play this new music for you.

"Finally, we need to mention that we couldn't be prouder to announce our guest vocalist for this album. Jonas Renkse has graced KATATONIA’s music with his unique atmosphere for decades. Now we in the band and the fans of EVERGREY get to experience the same and we couldn't be more excited! You might even get to hear Jonas growl for maybe the first time in many years…
Much love, Tom”

Lead vocalist Brian Butcher comments:

“'Roommates' and 'Overtime' are two sides of the same coin. I’m not super into astrology, but I do admit that I identify pretty heavily with the descriptions of my sign of Gemini, in that I flip flop between two sides of myself. These songs are a conversation between those two sides. 'Roommates' is from the perspective of a driven, organized and motivated side of me, and 'Overtime' is the respective creative and passionate side. Both have their weaknesses and their strengths, and they can’t exist without the other, but they definitely get into shouting matches sometimes. Safe to say these songs mean a lot to me.”

The Home Team will return to the UK in December for a sold-out headline tour.

Dates are as follows:

Dec 07: Glasgow Cathouse [SOLD OUT]
Dec 08: Leeds The Key Club [SOLD OUT]
