UK metal heavyweights To Obey A Tyrant sign with Seek and Strike and announce EP

UK's To Obey A Tyrant have officially signed with Seek and Strike and are set to release their new EP, Frigore Inferni, on 21st February. With their signature blend of crushing heaviness and atmospheric brutality, the band are ready to take listeners on a dark, ferocious journey through the depths of their sound.

In celebration of their signing, To Obey A Tyrant have released their intense first single and video, ‘Obsidian Sol’, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the bands journey. The track offers fans a solid introduction to their forthcoming EP, with accompanying video by Loki Films, taking viewers into a blistering white void.

To Obey A Tyrant states: "We chose 'Obsidian Sol’ for our main single because we thought it was the perfect balance of brutality and catchiness. Its has some insanely heavy sections, yet the chorus makes you want to sing along. What stands out about us the most is how we mix slams in with symphonic deathcore, so we're not your typical deathcore band. You don't really see a lot of bands doing our specific style and we pride ourselves on our brand. The music video complements this with a striking visual concept—set in a harsh, white void, with CGI landscapes appearing throughout, depicting a desolate wasteland under an eclipsed sun, symbolising the 'Obsidian Sol'."

Frigore Inferni,
translated from Latin as "The Cold of Hell" or "Freezing Hell", is a harrowing journey into a world consumed by unspeakable torment. As the follow-up to the band’s 2022 full-length Omnimalevolent and 2019 debut Conjuring Damnation, Frigore Inferni marks an evolution in To Obey A Tyrant’s sound, darker, fiercer, and more relentless than ever. The EP tells the story of two nefarious entities who awaken a frozen apocalypse, plunging the Earth into an unrelenting, icy abyss. Each track explores the grotesque atrocities unfolding in this new hell, the dark rulers who command it, and the twisted origin of their infernal reign.

Musically, Frigore Inferni blends black metal intensity and symphonic chaos, with every song layered in eerie, blackened orchestrations that amplify the EP's hellish atmosphere. For fans of deathcore with a cinematic, orchestral edge, this is the brutal, mind-shattering experience you’ve been waiting for. For longtime fans of To Obey A Tyrant, this will undoubtedly be their favourite release yet; darker, heavier, and more dynamic than anything before. And for newcomers, you've arrived at the perfect moment, expect relentless blast beats, bone-crushing kicks, guttural vocals, punishing slams, mind-bending breakdowns, and sinister melodies that will haunt you long after

Since their inception, To Obey A Tyrant have been on an unstoppable rise, amassing over 1 million streams across all digital platforms worldwide. In just a few short years, they've shared the stage with some of the most legendary names in extreme music icons like DecapitatedChelsea GrinAbortedVulvodyniaSigns Of The SwarmWithin DestructionAversions CrownFit For An Autopsy, and many more.

As a seasoned touring band, they've graced some of the UK's largest and most prestigious metal festivals, including Bloodstock Open Air and UK Tech-Fest. With each performance solidifying their reputation as an unstoppable force in the deathcore scene. To Obey A Tyrant aren't just a band; it’s the face of a new wave in deathcore, pushing the genre forward with every brutal riff, guttural scream, and disorienting breakdown.

The Night Flight Orchestracomment:

“‘Give Us The Moon’ is the title track and guiding star that slides across the dance floor and into the night. It also speaks of our human need and longing to be somewhere else, and our notion that there must be something more out there - something grander, something more gratifying and mysterious.”

Founded in 2007 by members of high-profile bands such asSoilwork,Arch EnemyandMean Streak, over the yearsThe Night Flight Orchestra have established their place in the scene with AOR inspired, multifaceted soundscapes and spellbinding live shows, garnering an international fanbase by touring in Europe, as well as in Latin America. Further live highlights have included enormous festivals likeWacken Open Airand opening forKisson their very last two shows in Sweden at legendary Dalhalla.

Fans will get the chance to hear songs from the new album live onThe Night Flight Orchestra’sMoon Over Europe2025 tour from late January on, withMetaliteandTragedyannounced as support acts, as well as on the Scandinavian leg of the tour starting in late February.

Give Us The Moon takes the listener on an exciting sonic journey, balancing between uplifting escapism and captivating stories inspired by real life events. The album's themes span the likes of heroines and temptresses to liberation and romantic nostalgia, set to backdrops of abandoned cities and cosmic tides.

The intro track, 'Final Call', sets the scene for Give Us The Moon before impressive opening track 'Stratus'. The intro of 'Like The Beating Of A Heart' captures the listener from its first notes, leading into an irresistibly catchy chorus. The massive 'Melbourne, May I?' is a classic The Night Flight Orchestra anthem, featuring captivating solos that are equally prominent on following track 'Miraculous'. The Night Flight Orchestra slows it down for the emotional 'Paloma', before again diving into different soundscapes on the exciting, uplifting 'Cosmic Tide'. The title track, 'Give Us The Moon', builds into a singalong chorus, before the band continues their trademark of name-dropping streets and cities on 'A Paris Point Of View', that features fascinating instrumentation, including particularly 80s-inspired keys and groovy bass. Sentimental 'Runaways' feels like a part of a movie, only partially because of the attention-grabbing intro track before the first notes. The Night Flight Orchestra get the tempo up once more for 'Way To Spend The Night', before epic closing track 'Stewardess, Empress, Hot Mess (And The Captain Of Pain)' wraps up The Night Flight Orchestra’s most cinematic masterpiece so far.

Give Us The Moon is free from the limitations of one genre or style, although many of the soundscapes of the album draw inspiration from the 80s, making the album a varied, exciting adventure. The album was produced by The Night Flight Orchestra and Sebastian Forslund, who also mixed the album, and is mastered by Plec Johansson at the award-winning The Panic Room Studios. The galactic artwork was once again created by the talented Giorgia Carteri. Boarding is completed - fasten your seatbelts and enjoy the flight!

The Night Flight Orchestra comment on their new album:

“We have never worked harder on an album before and what a journey it’s been. We feel that this album has it all and there’s no way we could have done any better. It’s an explosion of emotions and cinematic landscapes where you’ll be catapulted into space and then land smoothly, while feeling right at home. It will be your haven and your grand escape all at once. We hope you will connect to this album with every fibre of your body and mind, just like we do. Please do enjoy Give Us The Moon!”

One Morning Left make a bid for Eurovision with new single 'Puppy'

Finnish metalcore veterans One Morning Left unveil their brand new single and video 'Puppy'. The song has been selected to compete at UMK, Finland's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The UMK song 'Puppy' is exactly what the name suggests. It is, very simply, about a puppy.

The band describes themselves as a hyperactive, boundary-pushing feel-good act. Their unique sense of humour sets them apart from other Nordic metal bands.

"Musically, we rely on the 80s and 90s, and we do not take ourselves too seriously. Sometimes, people look at you in a funny way if you mess around too much. You can dance to the beat of our music, and that’s fantastic," vocalist Leevi Luoto says.

The band had been planning to apply for UMK for a long time.
"We already spoke with our previous drummer that UMK would be a great experience. After meeting Kiro, who produced 'Cha Cha Cha' for Käärijä, we began to think about making an UMK song with him," singer and founder Mika Lahti reveals. Käärijä placed second in 2023’s Eurovision Song Contest

Inspired by the vocalist Oli Duncanson’s first experience in a queer space, the song explores the liberating feeling of being surrounded by unapologetically authentic people while highlighting the contrast of guardedness often felt in daily life.

With its raw lyrics and dynamic sound, 'Dopamine' celebrates the significance of finding spaces where one can feel fully comfortable, whether it’s a queer venue, the gym, a book club, or a gig.

TheCityIsOurs encourage listeners to savour these moments of freedom and authenticity.

"KORK are super experienced in accompanying bands, so when we had the opportunity to do something together with them we just had to take it," say the band. "We chose to do a new live-in-studio version of 'Still Water', dedicating more focus to the symphonic parts than on the album version. We are very excited about the result, and hope you enjoy it as much as we do! The song is an epic crescendo which encapsulates the moment between life and death. The moment where everything is silent and hopeless, but also a blank sheet of paper for a new beginning. In the realm of giving up, something or someone can drag you back to life. It's never too late to search for help."

The original version of the track can be found on their band's most recent album Dream Chaser. Stream and purchase Dream Chaser here: https://rendezvouspoint.lnk.to/dreamchaser

Catch the band on tour throughout Europe this March supporting Temic.

Dream Chaser delves deep into the realm of artistic exploration, focusing on the relentless pursuit of perfection. “Artists often strive a whole lifetime searching for something abstract, a feeling of perfection in what you do or create. Since it’s an abstract and subjective thing, the artists‘ search for perfection often results in a lifetime of always wanting more, better, bigger and deeper. This leads to chasing something unclear and un-touchable, like a dream. It seems real and reachable, but never is,“ comment the band.

Fox Lake drop explosive new video and single 'Cold Hard Truth'

Colorado’s Fox Lake return with their hard-hitting new single, 'Cold Hard Truth', a ferocious rap-rock hybrid that delivers a raw, unfiltered look at life’s gritty realities. With its intense energy and relentless sound, the track perfectly sets the stage for what’s next to come from the band.

The band comment on the track, “‘The Cold Hard Truth’ is a blend of some of our favorite elements from nu-metal, hardcore, and hip-hop. We wanted the whole song to feel like the moment your luck runs out. It’s just as heavy as it is groovy, and the lyrics cut like a knife."

The release of 'Cold Hard Truth' marks a pivotal moment for Fox Lake, who recently signed with MNRK Heavy, one of the most respected names in heavy music. This partnership sets the stage for their upcoming full-length album, yet to be announced, promising to push the limits of hardcore and showcase the band’s bold evolution.

Hailing from the high altitudes of Denver, Fox Lake have crafted a sound that’s as elevated and energetic as their surroundings. Formed in 2017 by four friends seeking to break away from the typical metalcore mould, the band merged influences from hardcore, hip-hop, and rock ‘n’ roll to create something uniquely their own. Over the years, they’ve built a reputation for undeniable grooves, punchy rhythms, and an anti-establishment swagger that hits hard. The result? A sonic, brass-knuckled punch to the face that’s bound to leave its mark on anyone in its path.

New Zealand's metal stars Alien Weaponry announce new album Te Rā; release new single 'Mau Moko'

New Zealand modern groove metal trio ALIEN WEAPONRY are pleased to announce their heaviest, most powerful and mature offering to date, Te Rā, out 28th March via Napalm Records.

Since releasing their acclaimed debut (2018), the band have been lauded for their kinetic presence and sound, as well as their vital blend of culturally profound lyricism in both English and te reo Māori, the indigenous language of New Zealand. With their third full-length album, Alien Weaponry expand on their hallmark messages of cultural, societal and environmental resilience while delivering their most massive-sounding, focused musical output ever. In the hands of veteran producer/mixer Josh Wilbur (Lamb Of God, Gojira, Megadeth) and featuring a guest vocal appearance from longtime Alien Weaponry champion Randy Blythe of Lamb Of God, Te Rā’s gnashing blend of groove, nu, math and thrash metal shines with anthemic choruses and refreshed technical skill.

With today's album announcement, the band have unleashed a brand new, grooving single, 'Mau Moko'. Featuring te reo Māori lyrics, the track honours traditional Māori face tattooing (moko) while delving into the costs of maintaining customs that are at-odds with dominant cultural norms.

Stream 'Mau Moko' here: https://lnk.to/AlienWeaponry-TeRa
Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/pyMdUZV4zxY
Pre-order Te Rā here: https://lnk.to/AlienWeaponry-TeRa/napalmrecords

Of 'Mau Moko' lyricist/bassist Tūranga Porowini Morgan-Edmonds says: "Māori have a rich history of marking traditions that were nearly lost during colonization. These traditions are currently in the process of a much needed cultural revival, and I was inspired by that. I wanted the lyrics to remind people that moko is, and always will be, a part of who we are. With the song's video, we wanted to show the darker side of the history of moko and how the head trade played a part in the near extinction of the tradition. We fought through it and continue to fight for its revival still today!"

On Te Rā, listeners can hear the band doubling-down on the aggression in the verses before applying temperance, especially in the case of 'Taniwha', a death metal-leaning banger featuring the particularly raw guest vocal from Randy Blythe. Lyrically, there’s a noticeable tilt towards despondency, hopelessness, and frustration on Te Rā. While bassist Tūranga Porowini Morgan-Edmonds' lyrics in Māori on songs like 'Tama-nui-te-rā' and Ponaturi' draw from the themes of history, battle lore and mysticism that made the first two albums so rich, frontman/guitarist Lewis Raharuhi de Jong's English-language lyrics illustrate the impact when culture collides with disenfranchisement day to day.

'Crown' and 'Hanging by a Thread' take us into the headspace where struggle pushes people to the brink of desperation, while on 'Blackened Sky' and '1000 Friends', Lewis addresses universal woes like the looming threat of World War III and the damaging effects of social media. On album closer 'Te Kore', Tūranga dives into primordial nothingness at the root of the Māori origin story, while on 'Mau Moko', he finds the middle ground between these perspectives. Taken as a whole, Te Rā grapples with what it’s like to be caught in the pull of divergent cultures – not just for the descendants of colonized people, but for all of us.

Alien Weaponry have solidified themselves as one of the greatest young metal bands of their generation with renewed musical tenacity and crucial messaging. Te Rā is a bold, unwavering cry for a future in which we can all take part in the legacy of peoples like the Māori and others all around us – people who, if they aren’t seen, most certainly need to be heard.

Alien Weaponry frontman/guitarist Lewis Raharuhi de Jong adds: "We really stepped it up this time, as we understood that this album had to go further. We went through a lot of songs and scrapped entire sections of songs. We kept working them and working them until we got them right. Then, with the way we were pushing ourselves musically, I knew it was important to challenge myself lyrically as well. This time I delved into difficult emotional places and mental states. There’s a lot of existential dread running through the album, and I tried to find the right words to describe the indescribable.”

Alien Weaponry will be supporting metal icon Kerry King on a massive North America tour beginning today, 15th January. They follow this with a headline tour of New Zealand. All dates: https://alienweaponry.com/tour
