Death metal titans Cytotoxin have unveiled the title track from their forthcoming fifth studio album, Biographyte, accompanied by a chilling music video that pulls listeners into their nightmarish, post-apocalyptic world. Set for release on 11th April, Biographyte takes listeners deep inside the haunting aftermath of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, offering an auditory journey that is as brutal as it is surreal.

Today's single release plunges into the horrifying aftermath of the catastrophic explosion, inspired by the grim fate of firefighters scavenging graphite bricks at ground zero, suffering grotesque, irreversible burns, often paying the ultimate price.  Written in a Phrygian dominant scale, 'Biographyte' also ties itself to the desert-like imagery of the album’s artwork, where the weight of catastrophe is carried like an unrelenting burden.

Pre-order Biographyte here: www.cytotoxin.de/shop

The band comment on the single: "The title track itself reflects the situation of firefighters collecting graphite bricks on the night of the explosion, suffering irreversible damage to their skin and bodies, often resulting in fatalities. This scene is depicted in the album artwork, which portrays a liquidator carrying the weight of the reactor on his back. Biographyte also showcases the slamming and groovier side of Cytotoxin. The song, written in a Phrygian dominant scale, further ties back to the desert-themed album artwork."

The band have already set the stage for the upcoming album with the release of two powerful stand-alone single 'Hope Terminator' and 'Condemnesia'.  The new tracks offer a fierce preview of what lies ahead, showcasing the band’s signature intensity and skill.

Biographyte takes an immersive dive into Cytotoxin's musical roots, guiding listeners through the irradiated ruins of Pripyat. Each song is devoted to a key location, intricately weaving a biographical narrative around the lives impacted by the Chernobyl disaster. The album's artwork serves as a potent visual metaphor, symbolising humanity's eternal burden in the wake of the reactor’s devastation. The title track poignantly honours the bravery of the firefighters who risked their lives to clear radioactive debris in the immediate aftermath, suffering irreparable harm,a tragedy that claimed many lives. Biographyte is more than just an album; it’s a haunting tribute to history’s darkest moments and the sacrifices made in their wake.

Biographyte was recorded by Kohle and Daniel at Kohlekeller Studios, with mixing and mastering handled by Mendel bij de Leij at Mendel Audio. The album’s striking artwork was created by German Latorres of Hostile Tattoos, capturing the haunting and intense themes of the record.

On the fateful night of 26 April, 1986, the explosion at the Chernobyl power plant altered the course of history, leaving an indelible mark on the world. Drawing inspiration from this catastrophic event, the German death metal band Cytotoxin was born in 2010, bringing a level of intensity that would forever redefine the genre. Combining intricate, brutal riffs with a focus on the devastating consequences of the reactor disaster, the band quickly garnered attention within the scene. Their debut album, Plutonium Heaven (2011), was a force to be reckoned with, followed by Radiophobia (2012), which led to a three-album deal with the renowned Unique Leader Records.

Cytotoxin soon became known for their ferocious live performances and unparalleled precision, establishing themselves as a cornerstone of the technical death metal community. With Gammageddon (2017), they cemented their place in the genre, while Nuklearth (2020) showcased their expansive creativity and songwriting evolution. Following several successful European tours, major festival appearances and their U.S. and Canadian debut in November 2024, Cytotoxin now stand poised to push further into new territories with their latest singles, Hope Terminator and Condemnesia.

As their unrelenting sound continues to spread across the globe, keep your gas mask ready, the radiation is here to stay.

Norwegian prog-metallers HYPERMASS stream video on EP release day

Norway’s HYPERMASS return with their much-anticipated, new EP, Apparition Day, out today via Seek and Strike. The band have also released a video for the track, 'Cult Vendor'.

Watch the 'Cult Vendor' video here: https://youtu.be/7i8L52a2rok

 Pre-order Apparition Day here: https://orcd.co/hypermassad

HYPERMASS push the boundaries of conventionality showcasing their most riff-driven, catchy and ambitious work to date. Apparition Day is a natural evolution where grooviness and intensity are dialed up to the maximum, solidifying their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in modern metal. This is a must listen for fans of Between The Buried and Me, Periphery and Sikth.

HYPERMASS state: "Our new EP, Apparition Day, has been in the works for quite some time and we are truly excited to bring it to life and show you all what we have been working so hard on. Musically, it is more of everything that defines our style. The grooves, the melodies and the variety have all been kicked up a notch from our last output. while we also delve into some previously unexplored territory. On this release, we incorporate elements from genres such as jazz, blues, electronic, etc. Our main goal is to always push our music forward no matter what, and it’s important to us that we keep things fresh while maintaining our signature sound. Lyrically, the EP is a natural step forward from our debut album, Empyrean, as we explore a lot of the same themes throughout.

"On this EP we wrote about the human condition in the modern world, and how our craving for convenience trumps our social and creative needs. With the rise of artificial intelligence, we see a lot of people embracing it with open arms without a shred of critical thinking as to what is going to happen if we let it. There are a lot more themes throughout, but that would give you an idea of what to expect. As our last album was more conceptual, this has five stand-alone songs with each song having its own clear identity both lyrically and musically.

"The EP’s second single/video is for 'Cult Vendor,’ which is a track we did pretty early in the writing process. When we wrote the main riff we knew this track had huge potential and had to finish it. It’s more mid-paced and groovy and has more of a thrash/death-element than the previous single. It has an immediate, undeniable catchiness to it that we decided it had to be one of the singles. The song is really fun to play live as well and gets the crowd going every time.

"The coalescing of styles has resulted in our signature sound. While a lot of modern metal bands seem to prioritize either heavy breakdowns or lightning-speed shredding, the most important thing to us is the riffs and the grooves. Our main goal while writing each song is to find new and exciting ways for it to groove. That has always been the centerpiece of our music, and we find ways to work around that to make it as interesting as possible using different layers and atmospheres. A lot of the time the vibe of our music is actually quite uplifting as well, unlike a lot of other bands within our genre.

"As the themes explore a lot of dark sides of the human psyche, we always feel it is best to balance that with a more upbeat approach to the music. We always love it when bands and artists have a contrast between the music and lyrics, as it makes the experience more multilayered and interesting. The most important thing to us is to keep the music fun and engaging, and if people wish, they can delve more into the themes of the lyrics on their own."

Mavis stream new single 'Sentinel Hill'

Mavis unleash their most electrifying track to date with 'Sentinel Hill', a high-energy, bouncy metalcore anthem packed with earth-shaking breakdowns, hauntingly catchy melodies, and a still urgent message (maybe now more than ever). Told through the eyes of a supernatural creature like their last single 'DNA', the song explores the relentless clash between humankind and nature, as ancient titans are called upon to restore balance before it's too late.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/R4Ys9bibHVU

Stream here: https://arisingempire.com/sentinelhill

With towering riffs, explosive drums, and soaring hooks, 'Sentinel Hill' is a call to arms for a world on the brink. The song’s almost Dungeons & Dragons-inspired lead melody in the chorus adds an epic, mystical quality, drawing the listener deeper into its apocalyptic tale—a refreshing and unique twist for metalcore.

Directed by Chris Hesse (Strangeworks), the video brings the song’s themes to life, shifting between majestic nature and cold industrial landscapes—a stark visual reflection of the battle between life and destruction.

Produced by Manuel Renner at Überlärm Studios, 'Sentinel Hill' pushes Mavis’ sound further than ever, merging razor-sharp aggression with anthemic, haunting beauty.

Lord Of The Lost unveil first part of album trilogy

A work, a transformation, a re-entry into the melancholic self – OPVS NOIR is in no danger of becoming an offspring of understatement, neither in its title nor in its musical opulence. And rightly so: Not only will it be the first album as a six-piece band, but it also marks the beginning of an entire album trilogy, set to be released in multiple editions, including, of course, strictly limited collector's items.

Each volume contains 11 songs, totaling 33 tracks that not only conclude the delightfully eccentric chapter of Blood & Glitter but also initiate an uncompromising return to the dark core of the band. While Lord Of The Lost previously found themselves in the spotlight of vast open stages, OPVS NOIR Vol. 1, set for release on 8th August via Napalm Records, represents a confident descent into previously untouched emotional depths.

Vocalist Chris Harms about the album: “Darkness, melancholy, loneliness - all words that often have negative connotations, that we may associate with danger, sadness and loss, and not without reason. But darkness can also be security, melancholy the warm and sentimental feeling of our memories, and loneliness becomes necessary silence, peace and inner contemplation. OPVS NOIR is a travel guide, or perhaps also a travelogue, through the dark sides of our inner world, which so often move precisely in the area of tension between what we emotionally categorize as positive or negative. And with Vol. 1, all of this is just the beginning of this 3-part journey...”

OPVS NOIR Vol. 1 will be available in the following formats:

Wooden Book Collectors Box

3 CD Digipak in cross format, containing OPVS NOIR Vol. 1 CD plus two placeholders for the upcoming OPVS NOIR Vol. 2 and OPVS NOIR Vol. 3, 48 pages booklet, Bonus Live CD (details to be revealed later) plus 80 pages notebook with handwritten album lyrics by Chris Harms – Napalm Records Mailorder Europe & LORDSHOP exclusive (strictly limited)

Earbook Collectors Edition with 48 pages, containing OPVS NOIR Vol. 1 CD plus two placeholders for the upcoming OPVS NOIR Vol.2 and OPVS NOIR Vol. 3 – Napalm Records Mailorder Europe & LORDSHOP exclusive (strictly limited)

1-LP Liquid Gatefold Vinyl NOIR & MOONSHINE SILVER with 12p booklet – Napalm Records Mailorder Europe exclusive (strictly limited)

1-LP Gatefold Vinyl Deluxe SPLATTERED DARK NIGHT BLUE (translucent) with 12 pages booklet – Napalm Records Mailorder exclusive (strictly limited)

1-LP Gatefold Vinyl CRISTALLO with 12inch booklet - LORDSHOP exclusive (strictly limited)

1-LP Gatefold Vinyl Recycled NOIR

Music Cassette NOIR WITH SILVER PRINT – Napalm Records Mailorder Europe & LORDSHOP exclusive (strictly limited)

1-CD Digisleeve with 16 pages booklet

Digital Album

OPVS NOIR is not only a musically exciting step but also a bold one. This becomes clear when looking at Lord Of The Lost's immediate past: support for Iron Maiden on two European tours, followed by their first North American shows in over a decade, sold-out headlining tours, participation in the final of the EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 2023, a #1 chart entry with the previous album Blood & Glitter, celebrated performances at the biggest festivals worldwide – they even had the honour of meeting King Charles in person. Hand on heart: How easy would it have been to keep riding this wave of success just a little longer? But that’s not how Lord Of The Lost operate – the only constant remains change.

But what is the essence of Lord Of The Lost in 2025? That is one of the questions OPVS NOIR Vol. 1 fearlessly begins to answer. Once again, the band proves not only musical excellence but also masterful craftsmanship: Produced by Chris Harms, recorded, mixed, and mastered at the legendary CHAMELEON STUDIOS in Hamburg, the 11 tracks hit with a force and brilliance that immediately transport us into a dark yet colourful ballroom. From there, the tone is set: Dark Wave Metal on an amphitheater scale.

Everything is new, yet every note feels familiar. Behind each chorus awaits a surprise, in every line, a new door opens to further uncharted paths within the LOTL universe. This band takes the expectations of its ever-growing fanbase and molds them into songs that transcend genre boundaries – and turn moments into monuments that carry us all along: No one lost behind!

On the new single, the band comment: "'Hivemind' deals with the idea that we are all connected, as if humanity is sharing a collective consciousness through opinions & fake news, that we all as a society have consumed through the likes of social media. In many cases this shared information can have very negative results, with masses subscribing to the wrong opinion being sold as the right one."

Hailing from Belfast, Archives have already picked up huge momentum across the UK. They have seen big support from BBC Introducing and have done multiple tours in the UK and beyond. For fans of Bad Omens, While She Sleeps, Architects, the new single is heavily infuenced by Cyberpunk (game) & The Matrix (movie), which can be heard in the production leaning into electronic elements & beats.

With razor-sharp lyricism and an electrifying live show, they don’t just perform—they provoke, challenge, and inspire. Their music is a rallying cry, embodying the same passion and urgency that we at RADAR stand for in these climates. This isn’t just music; this is a movement, and it’s personal.

"Added to the bands announced today are those that we’ve admired for years,
VUKOVI.  I’ve been a fan of them for a long time, so to bring them to the RADAR stage is a booking that has put the cherry on the top for me. This year is going to be fun."

Your Spirit Dies stream single featuring Zao’s Dan Weyandt

'Serpentine' is the latest single from South Carolina USA metal/hardcore outfit Your Spirit Dies. The track comes by way of the band’s crushing My Gnawing Pains Will Never Rest debut, set for release on 2nd May via MNRK Heavy, and features a guest appearance by vocalist Dan Weyandt of Zao.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/pd7DviYhZVE

Pre-order the album here: https://yourspiritdies.ffm.to/mygnawingpainswillneverrest

Comments vocalist Brandon Byars, “‘Serpentine’ ended up being one of the last tracks we put together for the record. We were running two writing stations simultaneously - [guitarist] Tyler [Dorman] was writing these fast, aggressive d-beat riffs while [guitarist] Holden [Hall] brought some ideas that he had written previously. From there, we all dug in with [producer] Greg [Thomas] to refine it further. I think the song really captures the essence of the album, showcasing a lot of the sounds that define it.

“Lyrically, it's something everyone can relate to. Almost everyone has had to deal with someone who’s got narcissistic tendencies, and, in some cases, you've had to walk away - whether it’s a relationship, friendship, or otherwise. I think the lyrics illustrate the sense of catharsis you get from finally ‘cutting the cord’ with those kinds of people.”

On having Weyandt on the track, Byars further shares, “It’s been awesome getting to know Dan over the last few years. Considering our name literally came from a Zao song, we thought our full circle moment was getting to tour with them, but to have his voice and face featured in a piece of our art is somehow even bigger than that. He did an amazing job and I think it elevates the song even further for it. A huge gratitude goes to him.”

Across small towns in America, untold stories are waiting to be heard and Columbia, South Carolina’s state capital, is no different. With just over 140K residents, the city may be small but it pulses with an undeniable spirit. Your Spirit Dies taps into that raw, resilient energy, channeling the heart of an underdog and an unyielding drive. After gaining nationwide attention and praise from outlets like Brooklyn Vegan, No Echo and more, the band tells their story with their debut album My Gnawing Pains Will Never Rest.

“The record encapsulates every single thing we’re about,” notes Byars. “We’re five people who were born in small towns in the South. We were never supposed to leave these places; we were ‘supposed’ to live and die here. For us, the simple fact we’re doing this is huge. We tried to craft an album that stands on its own, and we busted our asses to make it as different as we possibly could.”

My Gnawing Pains Will Never Rest is a defining leap forward for Your Spirit Dies, with standout tracks featuring collaborations from some of the scene’s fiercest voices. Dan Weyandt of Zao brings his raw energy to 'Serpentine', while Blaythe Steuer of No Cure joins the band on 'A Snow In Summer'. Carson Pace of The Callous Daoboys makes an impact on the intense 'Night Pierces My Bones' adding another layer of power to this already crushing album.

With their debut full-length Your Spirit Dies continue to refine their unique approach to emotionally charged metalcore. The album offers a raw and introspective look at personal struggles, spiritual questioning and the weight of loss. As they evolve, the band is steadily establishing themselves as a significant force within the metal scene, with My Gnawing Pains Will Never Rest setting the stage for even greater things to come.

Fast-rising UK metal act Hands of Attrition release video for new single 'For You'

UK technical metalcore outfit Hands of Attrition have unveiled a brand new single  'For You'. Mixed and mastered by Justin Hill (SikTh), 'For You' is a deeply emotional yet powerful metal track that explores the torment of addiction, and the desperate need for external validation.

Watch the video for 'For You' here: https://youtu.be/6iCIj13AWOY

Stream 'For You' here: https://linktr.ee/handsofattrition

The band comment: "We poured everything into 'For You', a crushing track about addiction, regret, and the weight of our own choices. This song is raw, real, and brutally honest. “For You" is one of the most intense tracks we’ve written—drenched in emotion, driven by chaos, and fuelled by the battle between self-destruction and redemption, blaming your actions on the need for external validation.

“This song is a reflection of struggle and pain, wrapped in crushing riffs and haunting melodies. 'For You' is the sound of hitting rock bottom and questioning if there’s a way back. For you explores the idea that although one may be lost within addiction, the only way the protagonist can see a way out is if they fix themselves "for you".

"'For You' is us at our most vulnerable and aggressive, a storm of emotion, pounding rhythms, and lyrics that cut deep into the fight against addiction and regret.

"We wrote 'For You' to capture the feeling of being lost in a cycle of self-destruction. It’s heavy, emotional, and brutally honest, one of the most intense songs we’ve ever created as a band. The outpour of emotions from the protagonist shows how hard it is to battle addiction.

"The track reveals the bittersweet truth; that one's self-destruction stems from external validation and not self-preservation."

'For You' is the third new single from the band since the release of their debut album, Colder Places (2020) following the tracks 'Consecrate' and 'Shrouded in Silence'.

A relentless and deeply introspective journey, debut album Colder Places firmly established Hands of Attrition as an exciting new force in UK metal. With tracks like 'Consumed' and 'Threadbare', the album captures the darkness of trauma while offering a glimpse of resilience and hope.

Hailing from the birthplace of heavy metal, Birmingham, UK, Hands of Attrition are a force to be reckoned with. Their signature sound, dubbed "GrooveCore," fuses bone-crushing riffs, haunting melodies, and powerful, emotive choruses that leave a lasting impact. Since their formation in 2018, the band has carved a path through the metal scene, delivering hard-hitting, thought-provoking music that resonates with audiences worldwide.

Hands of Attrition are a commanding presence on stage, delivering an unrelenting wall of sound that captivates and engages fans. With a tight, precise, and dynamic live performance, the band has solidified their reputation as a must-see act in the UK metal scene.

Industrial noise pop trio Tayne release live performance video

Dublin-born, London-based Tayne recently dropped their highly anticipated debut album Love via MNRK Heavy / Inside Job. A fearless fusion of metal, industrial, shoegaze and pop, Love is an electrifying sonic journey that pushes the boundaries of the genre.

Today, Tayne released a new live video, performing at the South East London recording studio, The Bookhouse.

The video can be watched here: https://youtu.be/21syVTiLV9s

Love can still be ordered here: https://insidejob.lnk.to/TayneLOVE

Love showcases Tayne at their boldest, blending ferocious energy with genre defying exploration. The album includes 'Fear', anthemic enough for stadiums, featuring a blistering guest appearance from Rolo Tomassi’s James Spence; 'In This Trend', an industrial dancefloor monster that could easily tear through the walls of Berghain; and 'Wasted', a brutal, mechanical explosion channelling the raw power of Ministry and Fear Factory, while struggling to find peace in the chaos.

“'Wasted' is all about lust,” explains Matt. “It’s about getting swept up in those intense feelings, confusing them for something more meaningful, and then stripping it all away to expose the mess it leaves behind.”

Love is co-produced by Tayne & longtime collaborator Wayne Adams (Green Lung, Pet Brick), one of a number of collaborations with artists as diverse as Jesu, Cage Fight, Rolo Tomassi, Mastiff, Katie Kim & Poisonous Birds with Tayne supporting the likes of HEALTH, Author & Punisher and The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Greg Puciato.

Tayne have been announced for 2000 Trees & ArcTanGent festivals alongside fellow countrymen Kneecap, Taking Back Sunday, Rolo Tomassi, The Melvins, Between The Buried And Me, The Fall of Troy & more.
