PLAIINS have been on a steamroller since their inception in late 2020. Already playing with the likes of ITCHY, Cold Years, LEAP, Press Club and many more, the band bring a unique blend of British punk, indie and rock, pulling inspiration from the likes of IDLES, Hives, Soft Play, Bad Nerves, The Streets and Viagra Boys. PLAIINS have already released over twenty songs to date regularly hitting the top playlists on Spotify since the beginning as well as features on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Introducing and there’s no stopping their momentum.

"'Sports Bar' is a tongue in cheek poke about sports fanaticism," comments singer Chris Reardon. "I don't know how the concept was developed, the opening verse and chorus just spilled out. By the time it was written, I read through the lyrics and was laughing to myself. This happens a lot when writing, they come very in the moment and I just let it flow and not second guess what it's about or where its going. I just trust the creative process and what's coming out. We finessed the lyrics all together later, and one of the goals with this song was there had to "LOL" moments and had to paint the picture in the way of a caricature. The imagery I had in my mind is like a cover of a Tom Sharpe book. The illustrator is an artist called Paul Sample, one of my favourites, and I wanted the lyrics to have that over the top feeling but also comment on something a little more poignant underneath. We leaned more on our love of indie and garage rock on this track, bands like The White Stripes and Arctic Monkeys but pushing the almost rap like vocals from the likes of Mike Skinner from The Streets. He's been a constant inspiration, those first two albums, wow! Desert island discs for me. At the very end of the song I came up with in the studio whilst we were recording, I wanted to end the song with a kind of pub-like end of night drunken lullaby. You know when everyone's battered arm-in-arm and got their half filled pint glasses in the air and everyone's singing like it's their last days on earth. Although 'Sports Bar' is a little poke, there's something beautiful about the sense of community and passion for a sports club and I wanted to end the song with a tip of the cap to that."

PLAIINS hit you like a freight train - songs full of power and character, craziness and energy. Founded by singer Chris amidst the pandemic PLAIINS are growing on the soil made fertile by bands like IDLES, QOTSA and Turnstile. Since the release of their debut single 'The Wolf' in March 2022, Dizzy, Flo, Timon and Chris have racked up tons of streams, been featured in major editorial playlists on all important platforms (All New Rock, All New Punk etc) and been a recurring guest on big radio stations like BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing and RBB Fritz.

Dutch symphonic metal band BLACKBRIAR have announced their brand new album A Thousand Little Deaths, which will be released 22nd August via Nuclear Blast Records. Together with this exciting news the band shares their new single 'The Fossilized Widow'.

The single channels the eerie spirit of the Victorian era, blending the mysticism of Ouija boards with the brooding passion of Wuthering Heights. A journey through dark love, spectral forces, and gothic intrigue. From October 2025 you can see BLACKBRIAR performing their new songs on their headline tour across Europe. All dates are listed below.

Vocalist Zora Cock comments: "'The Fossilized Widow' tells the story of a girl frozen in time, desperately holding on to someone she can never let go. She's slowly descending into madness by all those words left unsaid, all those questions left to be asked. As the years pass, her home has turned into ruins, yet the legend says she still remains, trapped in her sorrow, waiting and watching. They call her 'The Fossilized Widow'."

Few bands are capable of conjuring up such vivid cinematic vision as BLACKBRIAR. The band’s lavish history of evocative dark fairytale storytelling and compelling gothic soundscapes continues to expand as we move further into 2025 and their upcoming third full length album, A Thousand Little Deaths. Tackling themes of love, loss, and death, BLACKBRIAR seek to take all willing Thorns on a passionate and resounding journey filled once more with mesmerizing imagery, masterful lyricism, and dark symphonic metal power.

Formed in 2012 by Zora Cock, René Boxem, Bart Winters, and Frank AkkermanBLACKBRIAR crafted their first single in 2014 with 'Ready to Kill', but it was 2015’s second single 'Until Eternity' that truly propelled them into the scene.  A sweeping track with an equally compelling and beautiful video, it continues to draw many to the act with over 20 million views since its debut. Taking advantage of the growing buzz surrounding the band, they independently recorded and released their first EP, Fractured Fairytales, as well as acquiring a second guitarist in Robin Koezen. This EP laid down an impressive foundation for the band’s ethereal and breathtaking sound and brought about new opportunities for the act, including tour dates in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, and more, where the band played alongside Epica, Halestorm, In This Moment, Delain and MaYan.

To keep moving ahead with full control of their creative ideals, the band successfully crowdfunded their follow-up EP, We’d Rather Burn, and brought it to life in October 2018. In the time following, keyboardist Ruben Wijga (ex-Re-Vamp) took a larger role within the band and began playing shows, after being involved in the songwriting process since Fractured Fairytales.

A busy 2019 followed, the band released a haunting single in May entitled 'Snow White and Rose Red'.  A duet with Ulli Perhonen, their take on the Grimm’s fairytale featured striking cinematic visuals to accompany the spellbinding track. Continuing to dig deeper into fairytale realms, Blackbriar closed the year with their third EP, Our Mortal Remains. Small, sold out tours with Epica in 2019 and 2020, as well as a sold out opening for Delain’s Apocalypse & Chill release show in Utrecht followed, with more future plans then being put on hold due to COVID-19.

Entering 2021, the band released their highly anticipated first full-length album, The Cause of Shipwreck. This release showcased the band’s continued evolution into masterfully dark gothic storytelling and theatrical aesthetics that entice you into a deadly yet spellbinding musical paradise. On the live front, launching into success with six sold out Dutch club shows, BLACKBRIAR later extended into more European territories such as Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France, and the Czech Republic as the band moved into 2022.

2023 would prove to be the biggest year for BLACKBRIAR to date. Officially signing to Nuclear Blast Records, the band also recorded their second full-length album A Dark Euphony, working alongside esteemed producer and continued collaborator Joost van den Broek. It’s a soundscape of “terrifying visitors, worlds far gone, gothic romances, bone-chilling legends, sin-eaters, burning hearts frozen in time, songs with a misleading voice, and a truthful whisper,” according to Zora Cock. A very successful pre-order campaign was once more launched in April, keeping that intimate connection with the fanbase alive.

To build up the release of A Dark Euphony, the band departed on their first co-headlining tour last summer with Ad Infinitum across the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland, selling out the first four shows, including Tivoli Vredenburg, as well as maintaining very strong sales for the remaining performances. They also hit some festival dates, including Summer Breeze and the beautiful Rock the Lakes festival in Switzerland before the album’s release. The group continued to garner accolades as the year came to a close, with their riveting and poignant video for 'My Soul’s Demise' winning the award for best Groningen film in their native home of The Netherlands. On a more global scale, they were also featured in Metal Hammer’s best albums of 2023 list.

In BLACKBRIAR’s efforts to truly reach the global metal marketplace, they reached a number of firsts in 2024. In the spring, they took a maiden voyage across the Atlantic for a fruitful North American tour supporting Battle Beast as their special guest. They also took to the famous Wacken Open Air festival for the first time, in addition to also performing at Summer Breeze and Rock Imperium Festival Spain. In addition, they launched a potent standalone single in 'Moonflower' with guest Marjana Semkina (Iamthemorning). They capped off the year supporting Kamelot on their European tour, which brought them to some new locales as well as familiar ones over the 17 date trek.

During this busy time, they returned to the studio to record what would become their third full-length, A Thousand Little Deaths, once more with Joost van den Broek at the helm for production. Set to release this summer through Nuclear Blast Records, expect BLACKBRIAR to once again raise the stakes in all aspects of their revered sound. In keeping the band’s tradition of direct connection to fans alive, they launched another triumphant pre-order campaign at the end of February. To celebrate the release of A Thousand Little Deaths, the band will be departing on their first full headline tour of Europe this fall with Danish act Forever Still as their special guest, beginning in October 2025.

Expect even more big things for BLACKBRIAR as 2025 continues along. With YouTube streams now reaching 71 million views and over 253,000 subscribers, and equally massive Spotify stats including a total of over 65 million streams, with over 190,000 monthly listeners who contribute to 1 million streams a month and 12 million streams per year, the world has taken notice of their distinctively macabre yet whimsical sense of metallic storytelling. Prepare to wrap yourself up in their seductive siren songs, and expect to be swept away on an unforgettable journey.

NY noise-makers Couch Slut announce Live at Roadburn 2024 the Couch Slut Brunch Hour

While Brooklyn, NY’s Couch Slut have been cutting their teeth making records and performing regionally for the last 10 years, it wasn’t until the legendary Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, NL invited them to perform in 2024, that the band first played a show outside of North America.

After obliterating the local Dutch skate park with a secret and absolutely wild career-spanning set upon arrival, the next morning, the band presented the highly anticipated debut of their new album, You Could Do It Tonight. There was big cause to celebrate as the day was 4/20, it was the official release date of the album, and now a packed and ravenous crowd who had travelled from all over the world would hear it for the first time ever.

Pre-order Live at Roadburn 2024 the Couch Slut Brunch Hour on Limited LP via Brutal Panda Records HERE and for Bandcamp HERE. Orders shipping mid May.

Becky Laverty of Roadburn Fest comments:

“To capture the very specific energy of Couch Slut live is akin to capturing lightning in a bottle. This record comes as close as is possible…without the risk of slipping on spilled blood or being hit by a stray piece of flying croissant. We are honoured to have been the hosts for Couch Slut’s first ever foray into Europe and delighted that the set was captured here so that it can live on, beyond our memories.”

Hailed by those who witnessed it as one of the defining moments of the festival, Couch Slut created a veritable sea of carnage on stage during the 40 minute album set; pummelling the spectators with their unique brand of nightmare fuelled noise rock, punk and sludge. A special guest appearance on keyboards by Steve Blanco of Imperial Triumphant added to the performance while graphic visuals displaying scenes of grotesque sex acts, self-mutilation, and rampant hedonism loomed over them throughout, adding an extra layer of shock and discomfort to the experience.

With an airtight, bone shattering set from the band, vocalist Megan Osztrosits demonstrated to those in attendance why Couch Slut are considered a true cult act. Operating on less than 90 minutes of sleep and still bloody from the skate park show the day before, Megan unleashed an intense and physical performance under the watchful eyes of medical personnel and first responders; there on site to tend to any fresh wounds that may come about during the ritual, and horrified at what they were observing in the process.

Live at Roadburn: The Couch Slut Brunch Hour is meant to capture the aural filth and visceral energy of the performance you just read about and perhaps were (un)lucky enough to witness. Professionally recorded from the soundboard, mixed by Ben Greenberg (Uniform, Pharmakon, Chat Pile), and mastered by Matt Colton (Aphex Twin, Sunn O))), George Michael), this is Couch Slut and their acclaimed album You Could Do It Tonight, like you’ve never heard before. A violent, destructive, yet brilliant and satirical performance that could only come from the shores of America and ultimately from the musical force that is Couch Slut.

Couch Slut have played a veritable strain of drug-fuelled, incendiary, hardcore noise rock since 2013. Led by Megan Osztrosits' infernal roar and subversive, vitriolic lyrics, they've released three full lengths: My Life As A Woman (2014), Contempt (2017), and Take A Chance On Rock ‘n’ Roll (2020). The band has shared the stage with the likes of Virus, Chat Pile, Wolf Eyes, KEN mode, Krallice, The Body, and Melt Banana. Couch Slut toured the US with Imperial Triumphant, Pyrrhon, Lightning Bolt, Oxbow and more. Their latest album You Could Do It Tonight was recorded in NYC with Uniform's Ben Greenberg (Drab Majesty, Portrayal of Guilt, Metz) and was released in April 2024 via Brutal Panda Records.

Solo electronic-metal entity REEBZ releases new single 'Cardinal Sin'

Somewhere between alien and human, REEBZ is a mysterious new electronic-metal solo entity with spine-chilling vocals.

REEBZ returns with her new single 'Cardinal Sin'.

Watch the video for 'Cardinal Sin', premiering at 6:30pm BST 17th April: https://youtu.be/NQvOgExwvHk
Pre-save: https://hypeddit.com/rbz-cardinalsin

'Cardinal Sin' is a blistering track - with the nostalgic influences of early 2000s nu-metal, it's a fierce and fast-paced new offering from the artist. REEBZ combines brooding rap verses with brutal chorus hooks that are infectiously catchy - and all topped off with moments of clean, soaring melancholic melodies, which encapsulate both rage and sadness.

'Cardinal Sin' is a fierce, emotional portrayal of the struggles associated with mental health; how it feels to be constantly beaten and broken down by your own mind… but ultimately finding the strength to get up and keep fighting, even in the darkest times.

Watch REEBZ live:

18th April - Resistanz Festival, UK
25th April - Manchester Rebellion, UK
3rd May - Camden Assembly, UK
26th June - Skull Valley, Paris

For fans of Linkin Park, Magnolia Park, Spiritbox and Nova Twins, REEBZ - an avid songwriter with an unconventional mind - is also influenced heavily by a variety of genres, including industrial, electronic, drum & bass, dubstep and trap.

Based in the UK, REEBZ has already been a part of numerous high-profile collaborations across the globe. She has featured alongside big names in her relevant genres, such as DJ Zardonic, Pythius, Toronto Is Broken, and many more.

Recently, her DnB X Metal collaboration with Pythius, 'Feel The Fire', was the standout Opening Ceremony track of Let It Roll festival in 2024. Her current collaboration tracks have also been featured on many official playlists across major streaming platforms, including UKF, and she receives consistent support and airplay from BBC Radio 1.

She has released music on a number of high-profile labels such as MNRK, FiXT, Eatbrain, NCS, and Blackout Music. Alongside this, REEBZ is now focusing her creative energy on her solo music. Predominantly metal (infused with her signature electronic influences), her solo work encapsulates raw, unrefined emotion, carried by her immense vocal range. Her current solo releases have been featured consistently across BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing and Kerrang! Radio. REEBZ is taking things to the next level in 2025; starting with an international tour across the UK and Europe alongside Toronto Is Broken. As well as this, REEBZ has some massive new collaborations in the works in addition to her solo album, which will drop later this year.

Hungarian post rock trio TÖRZS unveil new single 'Levegővétel'

TÖRZS, Hungary’s premier instrumental post-rock band, have unveiled new single 'Levegővétel'. This is the second track released from their upcoming album Menedék, out 16th May via Pelagic Records

Watch the visualiser for 'Levegővétel' here: https://youtu.be/7aJodTBcuQc

Pre-order Menedék and stream the single here: https://orcd.co/torzs

On ‘Levegővétel’, TÖRZS embrace elements of post-rock’s harsher, heavier side with a cacophony of driving half-time drums and distorted, open-chord guitars yet still provide brief havens of space for themselves, the song and the listener alike to breathe before the euphoric swell rises anew.

Loosely translating as ‘Refuge’, Menedék sees the freshly bolstered trio in their element; finding shelter, comfort and joy in the act of creative collaboration whilst the storm of day to day life weathers ever on.

A steadfast and admirable mission statement centred on staying true to themselves in the moment, being open to growth and documenting this process as honestly as possible has led to TÖRZS building a reputation as one of Hungary’s most exciting musical collectives. Three stunning albums of organic and perfectly composed contemplation, as well as the band’s transcendental live shows alongside acts including contemporaries We Lost The Sea, Oh Hiroshima, Föllakzoid and more have placed TÖRZS at the forefront of a post-rock movement that prizes the shared experience of band and listener above all else.

The band’s previous full-length release, 2019’s Tükor, was recorded live at Aggteleki Cseppkőbarlang, a UNESCO World Heritage protected cave system, 500 metres below the Aggteleki National Park. Embracing the cave’s utterly unique natural reverb almost as a fourth member led to Tükor receiving critical acclaim, with TÖRZS were subsequently nominated for the HEMI Music Awards 2022 and invited to perform at the likes of Moscow Music Week (2020), The Budapest Showcase Hub (2021) and 2024’s Changeover Festival in Belgrade, Serbia.

Whilst the intervening years have seen unprecedented change on a global scale, TÖRZS too found themselves in a state of flux. The band returned to the more traditional studio setting in 2023, working alongside long-time producer György Ligeti, in order to faithfully capture the intimate energy of songs meticulously crafted together in their small rehearsal space, a far cry from 2019’s subterranean setting. However, having spent countless hours writing, orchestrating and recording the pieces that have become Menedék, the band’s founding drummer Zsombor Lehoczky stepped away from the band and music as a whole. Where this might have been catastrophic for any other band, remaining members Soma Balázs and Dániel Nyitray soon found a connection with Tamás Szijártó, who approached TÖRZS’ music with the same openness to creativity in the moment; not ‘performing’ as such, but simply working together to produce breathtaking, musical escapism away from the daily humdrum.

The album’s themes of shelter, refuge and support resound clearly on lead single ‘Otthon’. Meaning  ‘At Home’ in Hungarian, ‘Otthon’ serves as a de facto introduction to the record. The song’s lilting groove, soaring yet soft guitar palette and the band’s signature delicate dynamism all combine to invite the listener to reflect; not steering one way or another yet inviting us to close our eyes and join the flow.

Elsewhere, the pounding, chiming ‘Levegővétel’ proves TÖRZS are still staying true to their mission statement of documenting the inevitable process of change. Here the band embrace elements of post-rock’s harsher, heavier side with a cacophony of driving half-time drums and distorted, open-chord guitars yet still provide brief havens of space for themselves, the song and the listener alike to breathe before the euphoric swell rises anew.

Whilst TÖRZS’ previous full-length effort was a spectacular collision of the band’s tight-knit existence and the (literal) echo chamber of the world outside, Menedék is introspective, understated and refreshingly brave in its honesty. TÖRZS have opened the doors to their inner sanctum, their rehearsal space, their songwriting process, their friendship; inviting us to live in it with them, to revel in the moment together.

Commenting on the new single, founding guitarist Scott Carstairs states:

“'Labyrinth of Stone’ is nearly six minutes of pure, mind-bending tech death and prog. From start to finish, this track will tear your face off. We guarantee you’ve never heard Fallujah like this before. Prepare your ear holes and eyeballs for one of the most ridiculous tracks and music videos we’ve ever produced.

FALLUJAH’s eagerly awaited sixth album, Xenotaph, is available for pre-order now on limited edition vinyl, CD and cassette.

Watch the video for the band’s previously released single 'Kaleidoscopic Waves': https://youtu.be/5iA1m63buh8

Speaking about the album, vocalist Kyle Schaefer says:

"We are excited to finally reveal Fallujah’s new album Xenotaph, marking the sixth chapter in our discography. This is our most ambitious record yet, and is certainly the band’s most technical, dynamic and progressive material to date. The music carried out by these eight tracks is matched with an equally ambitious concept, a lyrical story that traverses unfolding layers of time and reality in an otherworldly, post-death realm of existence.

"Xenotaph is also our most collaborative album, with broad input from the current lineup leading us to expand the scope of our songwriting while simultaneously highlighting the true potential of everyone involved. We hope you’ll join us in welcoming this bold new stage of the band’s evolution."

About FALLUJAH:

Prog death-metal outfit FALLUJAH expand horizons and solidify their position as one of America’s most exciting acts on their new album, Xenotaph, through Nuclear Blast. The quintet’s confidence in the lineup that made their previous album, Empyrean (2022), such a resounding success - earning high marks from Metal Injection, New Noise, and Guitar World - has been reconfigured slightly, with guitarist Sam Mooradian (INHALE EXISTENCE, SAM MOORADIAN) and drummer Kevin Alexander (DISEMBODIED TYRANT, BROUGHT BY PAIN) bringing their jaw-dropping musical proficiency to the fold, as vocalist Kyle Schaefer, guitarist Scott Carstairs, and bassist Evan Brewer enter a new chapter with FALLUJAH. Moored by singles ‘Kaleidoscopic Waves,’ ‘Labyrinth of Stone,’ and ‘Step Through the Portal and Breathe,’ Xenotaph is FALLUJAH personified, reinvigorated, and re-imagined.

Xenotaph was produced by FALLUJAH, engineered by Dave Otero (CATTLE DECAPITATION, ARCHSPIRE) and Mike Low (VITRIOL, ABORTED) at Flatline Audio in Denver, Colorado and Top Track Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. Otero also mixed and mastered Xenotaph. The main goal was elevation, building upon yet soaring upward from Empyrean, one of the group’s strongest productions to date. The team focused the separation of FALLUJAH’s breakneck pace, meticulous songcraft, euphonious leads, and unrivalled intensity, creating an experience pulls the listener into Xenotaph’s high-calibre music and concept.

Beyond releasing Xenotaph to an anticipating fanbase, FALLUJAH take aim at the road, drawing upon the success of their Empyrean runs. Indeed, attendees to the group’s live performances have witnessed some of Xenotaph’s songs already, namely the shimmery prog-bounce and inner world horror of ‘The Obsidian Architect.’ FALLUJAH are in a perpetual state of evolution, and Xenotaph demonstrates the group’s hard-won, if profound journey. For there is no reverse—only forward progress, and the path ahead is illuminating before them. Step through the portal if you dare…

Five years after the much-lauded 12th studio album Solitude In MadnessVADER return with three brand-new tracks once again produced by Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studio, UK. Featuring excellent artwork by Marcelo Vasco (Slayer, Testament, Dark Funeral), this EP marks the first recording as a quintet with guitarist Mauser returning to the group and new drummer Michael alongside vocalist/guitarist Peter, bassist Hal and third guitarist Spider.

Humanihility offers scorching new songs that prove to be vicious, thrash-laden anthems perfectly blending old-school thrash with VADER's unique straight-forward fury and neckbreaking tempos. Each of the songs was written by a different band member, giving them a more personal style.

The only physical edition of the EP will be a limited 12'' on red vinyl, and limited to 700 copies.

VADER will be touring the UK soon, with support from Rise Of Kronos & Skaphos.

Dates:

20.04.2025 UK Birmingham / The Asylum
22.04.2025 UK Glasgow / Slay
23.04.2025 IE Dublin / Opium

In 2025, Vader continue to dominate the scene with its current lineup: Peter (vocals/guitar), Mauser (guitar), Spider (guitar), Hal (bass), and Michael (drums). Their latest EP, Humanihility, will be presented live on the March of the Unbending tour and the upcoming Summer Rampage festival run, proving once again that Vader is as ferocious and unyielding as ever over 40 years into their career.

From breaking barriers as the first death metal band behind the Iron Curtain to secure an international record deal in the early ’90s to sharing the stage with legends like Slayer and Metallica in front of tens of thousands of fans years later, Vader have cemented their status as relentless road warriors. With twelve studio albums under their belt, they continue to deliver high-quality, impactful music, staying relevant to both longtime devotees and new generations. Their signature blend of thrash and death metal—executed with precision and intensity—has made them a force to be reckoned within the global metal scene.
