Thrash legends DEATH ANGEL are back with their first new music in six years! Commenting on the new track vocalist Mark Osegueda says:

“‘Wrath (Bring Fire)’ is the first Death Angel song featuring the whole band to be released since our 2019 Grammy-nominated album Humanicide. This song was however written during the pandemic.

"I wrote the lyrics and melody to this song in January of 2021. During that time I was, as all of us were, stuck at home lost, angry and very confused. I was also watching way more television than I usually had. One genre being medieval/fantasy shows which were kind of new to me as an adult. Yet, were very popular during that time. Which makes sense in retrospect. We all needed some new forms of escapism from the worldwide Hell that we were all going through...That being said...It was partially what inspired these lyrics. An ancient/medieval fantasy end of the world war meets my actual approach in disputes...That can unfortunately, for all involved, turn very ugly if I’m pushed to a certain level or place  when I feel I’m being wronged!

"And... as always for me...pen doesn’t hit the paper until I hear the music and that paints a picture and inspires a vision that ends up being my lyrics. And the music Rob wrote for this and the fantasy/medieval based shows I was watching at that time and the personal hell that I was going through, figuring out who the hell I was during that awful time in our collective history and marrying that with my true personal aggressions and fury that I still fight with to this very day when I feel I’ve been wronged inspired this song! And it does still happen to me and I’m sure all of us. It definitely still happens to me to this very day! Sometimes it still does by those that are supposed to be closest to me that think they must be more clever than me.

"When in actuality…They are just deceitful and so easily read.

Well...For those of you who can relate to this subject. Which I assume is most of us! This song is for you! Because if you are foolish enough to try to take advantage of me once or continually...To quote Al Capone: ’Don't mistake my kindness for weakness. I am kind to everyone, but when someone is unkind to me, weakness is not what you are going to remember about me.’

"That being said...When I come I’ll bring FIRE!!

Genre fluid multi-instrumentalist REDD. unveils new single 'JEANS SO BAGGY.' and announces RAUNCH. mixtape

Melbourne, Australia producer/artist and multi-instrumentalist REDD. drops a new single ‘JEANS SO BAGGY.’ today and announces the release of their debut mixtape RAUNCH. on 20th June via Island Records.

‘JEANS SO BAGGY.’ is a sun-dappled ode to being a freak and totally liking it. REDD. sings about having “stains on my shirt, I don’t really give a damn” over psychedelic-electronica-meets-rap production.

Watch the video to ‘JEANS SO BAGGY.’ here: https://youtu.be/hX53tfWkcDg

Stream here: https://redd-officialtv.lnk.to/JEANSSOBAGGYPR

The third official single to be lifted from the mixtape was written during REDD.'s first ever studio session and their second time ever in Sydney. REDD. shares, “I worked with Julian Sudek (producer) on the song, and he really pushed me to keep being more expressive and “myself” on the track. He played the beat to 'JSB', and I free-styled the song almost in its entirety. We came back through after a listen and made it to what it is today. The song is fun, free, and packed with energy. Being a freestyle it is also a stream of consciousness; a look into my brain and how I was feeling in that very moment. A perfect reflection of the wonder, confidence, excitement, and bravado 18-year-old me had.”

The accompanying official video was filmed in Melbourne and directed by SHEISAPHRODITE who says, “It was a different pace musically from REDD., so we wanted to make something equally different from their previous visuals. Keeping a hint of 90s crunch to align with Redd.'s aesthetic, this video delves into the beauty of youth's courage to express individualism along with a chorus that will imprint on your brain.”

REDD. has also announced their UK live debut at The Great Escape festival, with more dates to be announced. Catch REDD. live:

May 14 - Patterns Upstairs. Brighton
May 16 - Soundwaves, Brighton

The word “raunchy” might have sexual connotations, but “raunch” is a state of mind – it’s about being who you are and owning it to the fullest. It’s a term coined by REDD. while they were in the studio recording their debut mixtape of the same name, and it’s the only term that accurately describes the scope of the 19-year-old rising star’s personality and ambition.

REDD.’s mixtape RAUNCH. is the result of a whirlwind few years that have seen them teach themselves how to produce music, play a string of breathless, sweaty warehouse parties, and find a rapturous audience since the release of their debut single 'BRITNEY IN 03.'.

The 9-track mixtape moves at breakneck speed through lush indie-R&B, crackling pop-punk and party starting dance music, all the while foregrounding REDD.’s lithe voice and remarkable talent for sharp, funny lyricism. Recorded in Melbourne, Sydney, LA and New York, it’s a genreless grab-bag fused together by REDD.’s own star power, and which channels the irrepressible, unpredictable energy of the live shows and parties they’ve been throwing around Australia, which have already become REDD.’s calling card.

The RAUNCH. mixtape was produced and written by REDD. and friends Lach Bostock (Maisonair) Tom Josephs, Laiko (Medium Build), New-Haven (Evie Irie, Allday), SB40, Stephen Mowat (Gretta Ray, Tyne-James Organ), Ciarrann Babbington (Bakers Eddy), Nate Delizotti (Vacations), Benjain Schandy (Jimi Somewhere), Ole Martin Jense (Jimi Somewhere), Julian Sudek (Royel Otis, Bag Raiders, Genesis Owusu) with Lars Stalfors (Role Model, The Dare, Lucy Dacus) on mixing.

When we started in 1995 we had no idea where this wild ride would take us, how much this band would enrich our lives, how thankful we would be for it all, and how hungry we would still be to keep the party going. We’ll be playing the most robust headline set we’ve ever played. We'll be pull'n out all the hits, old jams, deep cuts, new cuts, new bangers, and everything in between.

"Joining us will be long time friends,

They’re releasing new music, and are as heavy, tight, and ready to destroy as ever. Shai Hulud who have been friends of ours, almost since our inception, and who have stood the test of time as one of the most underground, yet revered heroes of our scene. Denial of Life are putting it all on the line as the opener and will set the night off with their unique style of hardcore / thrash / metal that fits right in on this line up. Every one of these shows will be so special to us, get your tickets, tell your friends, and come celebrate with us this fall!"

The band released their latest album, Perpetual | Terminal, in 2024 via MNRK Heavy. Kerrang! gave the album 4 / 5, saying, “The mighty Darkest Hour deliver yet another slice of pure melodic death nirvana,” while Blabbermouth wrote, “As great as diehard fans will be expecting, and maybe even greater than that, Perpetual | Terminal adds yet more weight to DARKEST HOUR's unassailable reputation. Listen and learn, half-assed infidels: The experts are back.”

Experimental post-doom group Hemelbestormer announce new album; stream first single

Belgian post-doom quartet Hemelbestormer have today announced their new album The Radiant Veil, due for release 25th July via the celebrated Pelagic Records.

The group have also revealed the first single from the album, the Leviathan-esque 'Usil'.

Watch 'Usil': https://youtu.be/RIWVgvLvvks
Pre-order The Radiant Veilhttps://orcd.co/hemelbestormer

The band comment: "'Usil', the unrelentless and colossal opening track of The Radiant Veil, offers both sheer beauty and raw power, much like the Sun, after which it is named, itself. It is an epic introduction, an intense harbinger of what is yet to come and the start of a journey you won't easily forget."

Hemelbestormer have been a commanding entity in the heavy music scene for over ten years, with their idiosyncratic take on the merger of post-rock, doomgaze and black metal. Made up of veterans from the Belgian hardcore and metal community, the four piece from Hasselt, Belgium create intricate sonic journeys through space and time built over punishing riffs and spine-chilling climaxes. With their fourth full-length The Radiant Veil Hemelbestormer take their songwriting and production to new heights, honouring their name as trailblazers on the intersection of dark and light, the crushingly heavy and the hauntingly beautiful.

Having appeared at many of Europe’s finest music festivals – ranging from Roadburn festival to Dunk! festival to Graspop Metal Meeting Hemelbestormer feel right at home on stages with a wide variety of heavy, experimental and ethereal acts. The road combining ethereal post-rock with seething black metal has been travelled by many acts, but with Hemelbestormer that winding path has taken a different turn. Facing away from shoegaze or indie rock influences, the band find a more sophisticated way of incorporating unsettling melodies, blast beats and lo-fi synthesizers to emulate the dark void of space and eerie cold light of stars.

Uniquely, The Radiant Veil is, as drummer Frederik Cosemans explains: "a journey through our solar system as perceived by the Etruscan civilization. Each track bears the name of a planet in the old Etruscan language, starting with the Sun (Usil) and ending with Saturn (Satre)."

Powered by HM-2 pedals and a Lovecraft-ian use of retro synths, The Radiant Veil is driven by an old-school mentality that appears both learned and sincere. Produced by main songwriter Filip Dupont alongside Cosemans, the eerie space noises coalesce like a celestial respiration between the bouts of metallic riffing and tremolo picked riffs.

Album opener 'Usil' is a compositional masterpiece from start to finish, combining seismic riffing with ice-cold guitar leads, as if Russian Circles had been formed in a small Norwegian fishing village in the early 90s. Meticulously building up to a double kick-driven finale, the band carefully lay the groundwork for an  hour of transformative music that follows.

The Radiant Veil includes a guest feature from Philip Jamieson of Caspian on the track 'Turms'. As Cosemans comments: “Our guitarist Jo has been friends with Caspian for years, so a collaboration had to come about at some point. Philip did a fantastic job in the studio and really managed to add his own signature.”

Hemelbestormer are a sight to behold on stage, and with The Radiant Veil they penetrate deeper than ever into the farthest reaches of their sonic space ethos. Once more the Belgians capture the cavernous expanse between the cold lights of the universe, but also our power as humans to explore it, proving their greatness as masterclass storytellers in sight and sound.

Taiwanese metal titans CHTHONIC return with new single 'Endless Aeons'

Taiwanese metal titans CHTHONIC return with new single 'Endless Aeons'.

After staying low profile for years, the giants of global metal are back. You can watch 'Endless Aeons' here: https://youtu.be/xVIXCEyPrm8

And stream here: https://lnk.to/muziu-0518

The Taiwanese title of 'Endless Aeons' is '百萬遍 Pah-bān-piàn', a Buddhist term describing the gathering of many people to chant Buddhist sutras. Ground-breaking as always, 'Endless Aeons' also features bassist Doris singing in the traditional Taiwanese enka style.

Lead vocalist Freddy Lim states: "CHTHONIC’s music is always about reincarnation and catastrophe – it’s very religious."

He continues: "in the past, our works told Taiwan’s ever-reincarnating catastrophes. When I discovered that actually someone close in my family is a victim of one of these catastrophes, it became personal, and started writing 'Endless Aeons' and other songs. When will these catastrophes be over? If we could start our lives all over again, would it be possible for us to be without remorse? This song is a question, and the answer."

Guitarist Jesse, the song's co-writer, comments: "this is a song that sounds complicated, but actually simplistic. Answering a complicated question with simple words, this is how the song is supposed to be."

The video for 'Endless Aeons' is a continuation of CHTHONIC's previous videos - including 'Defenders of Bu Tik Palace', 'KAORU', 'Millenia's Faith Undone', and 'Pattonkan'. Characters in the new song are victims of the 228 Uprising and Massacre in 1947 who fell into infernal reincarnation. Through the song 'Endless Aeons', they are reborn again, but fall through the tunnel of time into a CHTHONIC concert, a development that signifies interruption of the reincarnation.

CHTHONIC have released several albums including Mirror of Retribution (2009), Takasago Army (2011), and Butik (2013) on Spinefarm/Universal Music. In their time they've performed at such fêted events as Ozzfest, Download Festival, Wacken Open Air and have toured Europe and North America multiple times.

However, the band's activity halted in 2016 when lead vocalist Freddy Lim was elected to Taiwanese Parliament.

For almost a decade, Freddy has been occupied with parliamentary work, and other members have been working on their own projects - resulting in only occasional large Taiwan performances for the CHTHONIC. Occasional musical output followed (2018's Battlefields of Asura album and 2023's 'Pattonkan' single, which was selected to GRAMMY's Global Spin) but almost all overseas performances were halted.

Although CHTHONIC have stayed low-profiled in recent years, in 2019 they performed with an orchestra in front of Taiwan's Presidential Palace to an audience of 50,000.

People say rock can change the world, and Freddy Lim made that a reality during his two terms in parliament, advocating for reform. Freddy pushed for legislation to make Taiwan’s first Asian country to have marriage equality, and for greater protection of indigenous rights. Additionally, he pushed for increased budgetary aid for humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, and advocated for “transitional justice”, demanding that government declassify files from Taiwan's past authoritarian era.

This hit home unexpectedly in 2023. Declassified files revealed the sorrowful and previously unknown past of Freddy’s family. Combining history and mythology, it is perhaps not coincidental that CHTHONIC’s music told the sorrowful yet brave stories of Freddy’s grandparents. Shocked at the news and overwhelmed by emotion, Freddy called time on his eight year service in parliament, and announced that he would not seek re-election.

Now, CHTHONIC return. The band are working on new songs, and could possibly return to global stages once more again soon.

CHTHONIC are:

Freddy Lim (lead vocals)
Doris Yeh (bass, backing vocals)
Jesse Liu (guitars, backing vocals)
Dani Wang (drums)
CJ Kao (keyboards, synthesiser)

Modern metal stars TETRARCH announce first ever European tour

With tireless perseverance and distinct talent, the ascent of modern metal/hard rock stars TETRARCH has been palpable since the release of their first album, Freak (2017), followed by their Napalm Records debut, the highly-acclaimed Unstable (2021). After four years of intensely focused growth and lead guitarist Diamond Rowe’s emergence as iconic brand Jackson Guitars’ first female signature artist, the band will release their trailblazing third album, The Ugly Side Of Me, on 9th May via Napalm Records.

Since their last album was released in the middle of the pandemic, the band has unfortunately never been seen live in Europe – but that will finally change this summer. In addition to a few festival appearances, the band will be playing a series of headline dates.

TETRARCH European tour 2025 dates:

16.06.25 DE - Leipzig / Moritzbastei

05.07.25 CZ - Velke Mezirici / Fajt Fest

Watch the visualiser for recent single 'Cold' here: https://youtu.be/s-rgaLgy0OM

Among its perfectly crafted 10 tracks, new album The Ugly Side Of Me cuts like 90s industrial-injected single 'Live Not Fantasize' – which premiered via SiriusXM Liquid Metal upon its release alongside Diamond Rowe’s Jackson Guitars signature launch – thrill with intense electronic flourishes, quick riffage and dynamic, spine-tingling guitar solos. Tracks like album opener 'Anything Like Myself' showcase the hypnotising, crushing metallic brilliance of the band while flirting with Josh Fore’s intense screams and Ruben Limas’ punching drums, while the likes of “Best Of' Luck' stand tall with the rhythmic basslines of Ryan “Dooms” Lerner and Rowe’s inventive riff artistry. Profound melodic bangers like 'Erase' and 'Cold' are injected with intricate guitar solos, while 'Headspace' and 'The Only Thing I’ve Got' thrust the vital, brooding elements of TETRARCH into the forefront. Each track succeeds with lyrical themes of facing our own darkest criticisms – embracing the healing notion that what we feel others may see as our worst traits actually define the greatest aspects of our individuality.

Metal is practically begging for its next wave of genre frontrunners, and with one listen it’s clear – TETRARCH lead the charge.

After an extensive 2024 Summer festival run and a highly successful tour supporting their peers Kreator and Anthrax at the end of last year, this October will see the mighty Testament lay waste to some of Europe's most renowned venues. Rounding off this killer tour will be none other than German thrash metal pioneers Destruction and black/death metal juggernaut Goatwhore from New Orleans.

Obituary return to the UK / Europe following their mostly sold-out headline run, and tour with Sepultura, Jinjer and Jesus Piece. The band are touring in support of their highly accaimed new album Dying Of Everything. Like just about every album in Obituary's vast catalogue, Dying Of Everything is instantly memorable; it’s a skill that Obituary have only improved upon over the years. It’s unusual for a band that’s been around since the ’80s to be doing some of their best work in the 2020s, but that’s exactly what Obituary have accomplished through their do-it-yourself attitude and relentless touring on a worldwide level.

Testament's Eric Peterson (guitars) comments: "Alright! We are super excited to announce the beginning of our Thrash of the Titans campaign event!

"Coming to Europe this October with co-headliners
Obituary and very special guests Destruction & Goatwhore

"We will have a special deep cut set along with classics and of course some new songs!

"
Obituary will be doing a special set as well doing their classic “cause of death” material and Destruction also will have new record out as well!

"Looking fwd to see you all again out there! Long live Thrash! Long live metal!
"

Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, 30th April at 9am BST.
