Swiss post-metal masters Abraham announce new album; reveal first single

With four studio albums and European tours supporting Cult Of Luna and The Ocean, the Swiss masters Abraham have forged their reputation as one of the leading post metal bands in Europe.

They now return with news of their fifth studio album - the mighty idsungwüssä: a third and final chapter to a series of concept albums of truly epic proportions, at the centre of which lies a sprawling, apocalyptic portrayal of humanity’s downfall. idsungwüssä will be released 26th September via Pelagic Records.

In celebration of the news, the band have revealed the first glimpse of idsungwüssä - 'Naked in a Naked Sky'.

Watch 'Naked in a Naked Sky' here: https://youtu.be/qEGZCK4Wpzc
Pre-order idsungwüssä here: https://orcd.co/abraham-idsungwussa

Still staged in the gritty atmosphere and philosophical weight of post-metal, sludge, and ambient noise, idsungwüssä sees Abraham march even further into dissonant and defiant territory.

“The three albums are clearly linked together thematically”, the band comment, “although, rather than an additional chapter, idsungwüssä is more like a parallel narrative to Débris de mondes perdus. The latter was a jump in time after Look, Here Comes the Dark!, whereas idsungwüssä is a jump in space, a journey away from earth. It should be the final piece of this little jolly ride.”

This album isn’t just heavy, it is absolutely drenched in delicious filth, and yet by embracing even more the melodic interludes and melancholic passages, they create a devastating contrast to the wall of power coming from stacked guitars, catastrophic drums and raging, sharp vocals – delivered in Swiss-German dialect.

“The album was recorded between November 2024 and February 2025, all while handling our day jobs and in a period that was, on a personal level, not the easiest for some of us. It is only in the last two weeks of the recording process, right before sending it out to mixing, that it sort of came together and started to feel like a coherent album, an album that we could be happy and proud about. For an album with change/transformation as an underlying theme, this is sort of performative!”

This urgency and duress bleeds into every song, an hour long journey that moves from the grim to sublime, from melancholy to raw destruction — evoking ruined civilisations and the last wails of fractured psyches. Yet there is something less bleakly human, more ethereal at moments, as if glimpsing beyond the constraints of the body and its wheel of flesh and death.

Strewn throughout the record are appearances of Farfisa Louvre organ - prominently featuring on an Abraham album for the first time. The band were also joined by Kevin Galland (Coilguns) who added additional Moog and piano parts.

The band continue: “Our approach to recording guitars was different than what we did before. Instead of having one guitar on the left playing a part and one on the right playing another part, we decided that left and right guitars were to play the same part, and the center guitar was to play another part. We just stacked more guitars whenever we needed. And oh did we use a lot of reverb, too!”

The structures and movements of the songs found within idsungwüssä are unique and fresh - a balancing of themes and emotions that is both intoxicating and unsettling, it is an immersive journey that rewards deep listening and challenges the boundaries of genre. From the patient grandeur of coming extinction, to the chaos and fevered urgency of the aftermath, in idsungwüssä Abraham move forward from prophetic lamentation to an elegiac visceral response. The emotional closure of this expression is felt, something final that will leave you speechless and with only one real option; listen to it again.

Post-doom instrumentalists Hemelbestormer reveal the third single from their new album

Belgian post-doom quartet Hemelbestormer have just revealed a new single titled 'Tinia' from their upcoming album The Radiant Veil. The new full length will be out on 25th July through Pelagic Records.

Watch 'Tinia' here: https://youtu.be/USI1bc4p2Jw
Pre-order The Radiant Veil here: https://orcd.co/hemelbestormer

Drummer Frederik Cosemans describes The Radiant Veil as "a journey through our solar system as perceived by the Etruscan civilization. Each track bears the name of a planet in the old Etruscan language, starting with the Sun (Usil) and ending with Saturn (Satre)."

Hemelbestormer has been a commanding entity in the heavy music scene for over ten years, with their idiosyncratic take on the merger of post-rock, doomgaze, and black metal. Made up of veterans from the Belgian hardcore and metal community, the four-piece from Hasselt create intricate sonic journeys through space and time built over punishing riffs and spine-chilling climaxes. With their fourth full-length album, The Radiant Veil, Hemelbestormer take their songwriting and production to new heights, honouring their name as trailblazers on the intersection of dark and light, the crushingly heavy and the hauntingly beautiful.

Having appeared at many of Europe’s finest music festivals – from Roadburn festival to Dunk! festival to Graspop Metal MeetingHemelbestormer feel right at home on stages with a wide variety of heavy and experimental acts. The road combining ethereal post-rock with seething black metal has been travelled by many groups, but with Hemelbestormer, that winding path has taken a different turn. Facing away from shoegaze or indie rock influences, the band finds a more sophisticated way of incorporating unsettling melodies, blast beats, and lo-fi synthesizers to emulate the dark void of space and eerie cold light of stars.

Powered by HM-2 pedals and a Lovecraft-ian use of retro synths, The Radiant Veil is driven by an old-school mentality that appears both learned and sincere. Produced by main songwriter Filip Dupont alongside drummer Frederik Cosemans, the eerie space noises coalesce like a celestial respiration between the bouts of metallic riffing and tremolo-picked riffs.

Album opener 'Usil' is a compositional masterpiece from start to finish, combining seismic riffing with ice-cold guitar leads, as if Russian Circles had been formed in a small Norwegian fishing village in the early 90s. Meticulously building up to a double kick-driven finale, the band carefully lays the groundwork for the following hour of transformative music.

Hemelbestormer is a sight to behold on stage, and with The Radiant Veil, they penetrate deeper than ever into the farthest reaches of their sonic space ethos. Once more, the Belgians capture the cavernous expanse between the cold lights of the universe, but also our power as humans to explore it, proving their mastery as storytellers in sight and sound.

Yes, that does include Ihsahn, who delivered a stunning reinterpretation of Lustmord’s Dark Awakening as part of our pandemic Lustmord tribute album, The Others… and God Is An Astronaut’s All Is Violent, All Is Bright was the 3rd album we ever released. "

German pop-punk act Indecent Behavior announce new album and stream single

After performing at Rock am Ring, Rock im Park and touring with Neck Deep, Zebrahead and Donots, German pop-punk up-and-comers Indecent Behavior have announced their fourth studio album SICK for 26th September via Long Branch Records. The band from Saarbrücken have also released their new single ‘I Fell In Love Every Weekend’, including a music video.

We live in a world full of impressions. What seems like an ocean full of possibilities to some is incredibly overwhelming, oppressive and unfair to others. There is no escape from the mass of unfiltered information that rains down on us every day. No light at the end of the dark news tunnel. No clear way out of the labyrinth of options, which instead of freedom only brings excessive demands. SICK was created precisely from these thoughts and is an album for everyone for whom it sometimes just gets too much. Who feel like they are living in a world that they simply don't understand. For all people who are looking for a place where they can feel understood and comfortable.

"'I Fell In Love Every Weekend' is a song about emotional dependency, loneliness and desperately holding on to something that is actually long gone. It's a song for anyone who has ever felt lost in a one-sided relationship - and still hoped that something would change," says Indecent Behavior singer Henrik Bergmann.

"To be completely honest, I had tears in my eyes the first time I watched this video. Last year, so many childhood dreams came true for us. We played shows and toured with some of our favorite bands, performed twice at Germany’s biggest rock festivals — Rock am Ring and — met countless amazing people, and had an absolutely incredible time. We captured all ofRock im Park these moments, mainly for ourselves, so that one day we can show them to our kids. But when we finally recorded 'I Fell In Love Every Weekend,' it felt like the perfect moment to share with everyone what we’ve fallen in love with. That said, as amazing as touring is — seeing the world, meeting inspiring people, and making memories — it also has its dark side. When everyone else is enjoying time at home, we’re on the road. We miss friends, lose relationships, don’t spend as much time with family as we’d like, and sometimes even lose connections we thought would last forever. All of the highs and lows can be seen in this video. And for me, that’s what makes it one of the most emotional songs and videos we’ve ever made."

Swedish experimentalists Blessings release new single 'Allt Vi Kan Ge Är Upp'

Gothenburg's inimitable noise experimentalists Blessings have given a third glimpse of their upcoming album Blodsträngen (1st August, Pelagic Records) with new single 'Allt Vi Kan Ge Är Upp'.

Stream and pre-order: https://orcd.co/blessingsb

The new album begins and ends in the same space: the rehearsal room.

In between these moments however, Blodsträngen knows no boundaries; it rampages through your inner sanctum, upending everything it can, razing everything you hold dear and drawing on the walls whilst panting, drooling and muttering to itself in strange tongues...

With all four members of Blessings already veterans of numerous bands and several distinct scenes throughout their native Sweden, the group came together with the idea of creating something wholly their own, rather than compromising to fit in elsewhere. The resultant sound is a cacophony of influences where nothing is sacred and no idea is thrown out; all that matters is all playing disgustingly loud music together in a room.

Blodsträngen, which can be translated as ‘The Bloodline’ or ‘The Blood String’ is another bracing evolution of Blessings’ truly inimitable sound, pushing the band’s percussive and found-sound textural elements even further to embrace a wild sonic palette that blends modular synths with crushing guitar feedback and even the occasional cowbell.

It should come as no surprise that Blessings’ debut album, 2012’s Bittervatten, is abrasive, crusty and intriguingly in-your-face as the band barely manage to contain the barrage of influences from across the heavy spectrum. Years of near-constant touring and creative experimentation followed, and later came Biskopskniven in 2021; still deafeningly loud and defiantly confrontational, the album brought with it a sense of uneasy patience and seething restraint as the band trimmed the fat and found a new menace in machine-like repetition courtesy of drummer Mattias Rasmusson and synth player/percussionist Erik Skytt.

Each Blessings album to date includes a song by the name of ‘Strings of Red’, an unspoken narrative that charts the band’s unique journey through genre. As such, Blodsträngen opener and lead single ‘Strings of Red’ sets pulses racing with a loping percussive loop before the song abruptly explodes into a double-time thrash-metal dirge with Fredrik Karlsson’s gravel-soaked voice leading the charge and Johan G. Winther swiftly joining him. Before we know it though, the song turns on its heels again as a nightmarish, prog-like synth motif possesses the song and sends all into a downward spiral of equal parts euphoria and delirium.

Elsewhere, the likes of ‘No Good Things’ pairs the filthiest bass sound you’ve ever heard with a shuffling, playful xylophone-like synth refrain and haunting baritone vocals before collapsing in on itself as underneath colossal guitar riffs and black metal blast beats.

‘Alt Vi Kan Ge Ar Upp’ (All We Can Give Is Up) is as cutting, angular and cathartic as the song’s title suggests. A relentless 3/4 groove all but trips over itself as the growl of guitars builds to breaking point and the track spills into a half-time doom waltz with soaring bittersweet pipe organ melodies and a harrowed vocal lament colliding to briefly create something staggeringly beautiful before crumbling into its separate parts and melting away to nothing…

Blodsträngen is Blessings fine-tuning their deliberately dissonant sound whilst simultaneously casting their net wide for ever more left-field, experimental influences; a disparate collection of idiosyncrasies that the band somehow manage to pull into something cohesive, captivating and empowering. The band leave the messages and meanings behind their music open to interpretation as a means of sharing this attitude of openness with their audience because remember, when all is said and done, all that matters is all playing disgustingly loud music together in a room.

US hard rock rising stars S8NT ELEKTRIC unveil single featuring blues veteran Eric Steckel

LA Hard-Rock rising stars S8NT ELEKTRIC have just released a revised version of their latest single, 'TAR', now featuring American blues-rock guitarist and singer Eric Steckel.

Stream the single here: https://s8ntelektric.lnk.to/TARftES

Steckel brings his acclaimed talent to the high-energy track, known for its heavy rock sound and a powerful message about overcoming anxiety. With a touring history alongside legends like Steve Vai, Gregg Allman, and Ray Charles, and recognised as one of "The 100 Greatest Blues Guitarists of All Time" by Total Guitar magazine, Steckel's contribution elevates 'TAR' to new heights.

“‘TAR' is a high-energy track that embodies the heavy rock sound that we are known for. It’s a song written about struggling with anxiety and ultimately overcoming it. Our hope is that it helps others as much as it helped us. Mental health can be a difficult thing to talk about since social media has conditioned us to think we have to have perfect lives or there’s something wrong with us. In reality, we are all dealing with something or another. ‘TAR' is a very personal song for us and a song that is SO fun to play. The breakdown at the end has never failed to get people moshing and going wild in the pit. It always ends up being a highlight moment of every show," comment S8NT ELEKTRIC.

The song's breakdown remains a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, consistently igniting moshing and wild energy at every S8NT ELEKTRIC show. The band, a staple on the European summer festival circuit, has opened for acts such as Wolfmother, Mammoth WVH, and Dirty Honey, and graced stages at major festivals including Bottlerock, Rockville, and Prague Rocks.

S8NT ELEKTRIC's debut album Off The Edge will be released in late 2025 via Long Branch Records.

Car Bomb release new single 'Paroxysm'

Founded in 2000, Car Bomb celebrate their 25th year with the release of a new EP Tiles Whisper Dreams which will be out 1st August, 2025. Consisting of three new tracks, Tiles Whisper Dreams is the band's first new music to be released since 2019's Mordial album. The band have recently released a first track 'Paroxysm' which is now streaming at the link below.

Watch the video for 'Paroxysm' here: https://youtu.be/HIiw_IzJZFM
Pre-order the EP here: https://carbomb.bandcamp.com/album/tiles-whisper-dreams

'Paroxysm' reveals a revitalized Car Bomb, seemingly chomping at the bit with all the fury of a band half its age. "This is our first release since before COVID," states guitarist Kubacki "and we really tried to put our 100% into these songs.

In under three minutes, the aptly-titled 'Paroxysm' delivers a barrage of semi-automatic drum-fire and viscous guitars, conjoined in inscrutable patterns. Vocalist Michael Dafferner mostly roars but lets his singing voice shine in one brief, glistening moment. The song is about "the never-ending struggle with power and control," he says.

In a genre built on shock and awe, it is tough to be shocking or awe-inspiring these days. With metal in its sixth decade, making an impact is an increasingly difficult feat. The ceiling is red with the blood of straight-line shredders futilely competing for the attention of desensitised ears.

Car Bomb is that rare metal band that have found a pathway through the ceiling – a wormhole, if you will – and have occupied a position of radical transcendence for a quarter-century now. In their 25 years of existence, the New York City-area quartet have been sculpting its own signature sound and cementing its identity as an outlier, above the fray, inspiring a legion of younger musicians in the process.

Car Bomb's sound is that of perpetual transformation: a spiraling flurry of rhythm and texture that congeals, fleetingly, into planet-pulverizing death-grooves and fragments of haunting melodies. Baffling rhythmic modulations and deep-space guitar effects appear to warp time completely. Disorientation is the rule, not the exception.

"Their psychotic turbo-thrash is disgustingly disorienting," reads one Kerrang! review. "One relentless onslaught of time-chopping violence."

A Stereogum review describes the style as "a rhythmically abstruse variety of extreme metal... hallucinatory time-stretching."

Car Bomb guitarist Greg Kubacki puts it like this: "When someone asks me what we sound like, I always ask them ‘what’s the heaviest band you listen to?’ and then I say it’s either 10x, 100x, or 1,000x crazier than that, depending on their answer. We aspire to create our own style of heavy music by bending everything: the notes, time signatures, tempos, sonic quality of the guitars, etc. We’re always pushing and pulling everything, ripping ideas apart and then squashing them back together. And as a result our songs might sound chaotic at first, but as they progress the patterns, grooves, and motifs embedded inside all of the mangling and warping will reveal themselves and evolve in unexpected ways. Most people won’t get that deep into our stuff and will just hear a pile of noise, which is fine with us. We’re creating the kind of music we want to hear and that’s all we care about."

Car Bomb will tour Europe and the UK in August, including dates with Gojira, Between the Buried and Me, and Imperial Triumphant.

Icelandic prog rockers THE VINTAGE CARAVAN announce new album and stream single

Icelandic retro prog rock trio THE VINTAGE CARAVAN have announced their return with their sixth studio album, entitled Portals, set for release on 26th September 2025 via Napalm Records. The charismatic band have also released a music video for first album single 'Riot', a track dripping in their trademark sound, rich in bluesy psychedelia infused with modern intensity and irresistible riffs.

Watch the music video for 'Riot' here: https://youtu.be/PJX3YI2adME

Pre-order Portals here: https://lnk.to/TheVintageCaravan-Portals/napalmrecords

"We proudly present our sixth studio album, Portals. It’s our most diverse, dynamic, experimental album and in our opinion, our best effort yet," the band state. "Portals was recorded at Arda Recorders in Porto, Portugal in October 2024 with Axel ‘Flexi’ Árnason, with whom we worked on Voyage (2012), Arrival (2015) and the Monuments Tour (2023). This is the first time we recorded on tape and we are so happy with the results. We feel that this time we really managed to capture our live energy.

"The title of the album is a nod to the city of Porto and connecting the songs are a series of interludes which we call “Portals” that set the mood and bring you to the next track. We can’t wait for you to experience the journey that is Portals!"

On the single, singer and guitarist Óskar Logi Águstsson comments: "’Riot’ came to me in a dream. It’s the only time that has happened to me. I woke up around 7am humming the first two riffs and I really liked it and I thought to myself, “I’ll go back to sleep for a bit and then I’ll work on this”. Then I woke up again and I forgot the main riff, which was a bummer and I tried remembering the pattern all day until I gave up and went to bed, right as I was drifting off to sleep it came back to me! Thankfully!

"The track is an energetic and heavy one. The lyrics were inspired by the 2024 riots in England. We were touring the country at the time, it was a very surreal thought to be possibly caught up in a riot and I knew I wouldn’t do very well in that sort of situation, so that’s what inspired me to write the lyrics.

"We hope you enjoy 'Riot' and remember, don’t start a riot, just listen to this tune instead."

Portals is another testament to THE VINTAGE CARAVAN’s endlessly creative, modern take on the psychedelic retro rock sound, cementing the band’s leading position in the scene. The band’s previous studio album, Monuments, hit #21 on the German charts, marking a milestone in their evolution, and the new offering – which also features a stunning guest performance by Opeth’s Mikael Åkerfeldt on the soulful album opener 'Philosopher' – continues to solidify THE VINTAGE CARAVAN’s reputation as torchbearers of contemporary classic rock. Aside from their critically acclaimed releases, the band’s electrifying live performances have mesmerized audiences at major festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Hellfest, as well as on international tours both as headliners and as support for the likes of progressive metal giants Opeth. THE VINTAGE CARAVAN will be celebrating the release of Portals with extensive headline tours in mainland Europe and the UK, announced for autumn 2025.
