The band comment: "At its core, ‘Too Little Too Late’ is about being in a dark place and realizing that help or comfort often arrives only after the damage is done. It’s about wrestling with that helpless feeling of something constantly pulling you down, making you feel less like yourself every day."

Darkness isn't merely a theme for Downswing — it's the environment they've learned to endure. The Albany, New York USA outfit cultivates a heavy atmosphere and melodic depth, stripping away emotional armor and calloused defenses to reveal something raw and defiantly honest. The band’s new album, And Everything Was Dark, serves as both a mission statement and a bold leap forward.

For nearly a decade Downswing have steadily evolved into a powerhouse of modern metal and groove. The band’s current incarnation emphasises soaring choruses, thunderous breakdowns, atmospheric depth and emotional intensity.

“This is the first time it feels like we’re doing exactly what we want,” says vocalist Harrison Seanor, who joined the band in 2020. “We’re not chasing any specific trend or scene. We’re Downswing.”

Created with a focus on clarity and impact, And Everything Was Dark builds on the sonic foundation of their earlier work while venturing boldly into new territory. Gargantuan riffs and crushing breakdowns intertwine with massive hooks, layered textures and lyrics that resonate deeper than ever before.

'For What It’s Worth' is a bleak outburst of betrayal, confusion and emotional fallout. 'Too Little Too Late' and 'Glass House' explore the record’s central themes: what it means to lose someone you love, the toll of addiction and self-destruction and the slow, painful process of letting go.

“Every song on this record has real meaning,” Seanor says. “There are songs about people we’ve lost, about people we’ve watched spiral, about trying to forgive people who hurt you. It’s personal, but I think people will relate to it in their own way.”

Formed in 2016, Downswing quickly made waves with their unique blend of metallic hardcore aggression and groove-driven heaviness. Early releases such as the Dark Side of the Mind EP (2017) and Good Intentions (2020) cultivated a dedicated underground following and earned the band a reputation for high-intensity performances. 2022 brought the critically acclaimed New Lows EP with their most recent release, Let This Life Devour You EP, arriving in 2024.

Downswing saw And Everything Was Dark as an opportunity to create the kind of record they wanted to hear, without compromise.  “We focused a lot more on structure and storytelling this time around,” Seanor explains. “Before, things might have been more chaotic or riff-driven, but now we’re thinking about flow, dynamics, and what makes a song feel big and memorable. There’s no filler here. Every song has a purpose.”

Downswing will be hitting the road across the USA this September, opening for He Is Legend in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their Suck Out the Poison album. Whether playing to packed hometown crowds or making new converts on the road, Downswing are committed to growth, expression and authenticity. They’ve weathered hardships, lineup changes, personal losses and shifting trends and emerged more confident than ever in who they are.

Downswing aren't just evolving. They’ve arrived.

The Devil's Trade faces personal truama on new single 'The Sleep That Dragged You Away'

Acclaimed post-doom artist The Devil's Trade has unveiled 'The Sleep That Dragged You Away', the powerful new single taken from his new album Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép, out 7th November via Pelagic Records.

The Devil's Trade mastermind Dávid Makó comments: "'The Sleep That Dragged You Away' is the hardest and therefore the most liberating song of my life so far. It was my first experience of failure as a songwriter and singer. The writing process itself was a near nervous breakdown experience, and then I completely broke down during the recording. I had to withdraw and seriously consider the possibility of giving up. This song is closely connected to the prophecy in 'Dear Mother', heard on Those Miles..., which was released eleven years ago. It deals with one of the most defining childhood traumas of my life and the most defining trauma of my adult life so far. It has become a real cliché that music can have a therapeutic effect, and I usually avoid that term, but in this case, it is a truly cathartic processing every time I listen to or perform it.”

07.10.25 - Pécs Hu

Dávid Makó began The Devil’s Trade in 2014. His early solo work, often performed with only an acoustic guitar or banjo, quickly garnered attention for its emotional depth and stark beauty. Drawing on Appalachian folk, dark Americana, and Hungarian folk traditions, Makó's music has been praised for its haunting vocals, minimalist arrangements, and profound emotional honesty. Recently, and especially in this new release, elements of post-metal and doom have taken Makó's sound into new, exciting territory, whilst retaining his unique intimacy.

Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép, translated as “there is no uncontaminated beauty”, is a record forged in grief and the unflinching confession. Fans of The Devil’s Trade will immediately recognise Makó’s signature elements: the deep, rugged baritone, the uncanny ability to transmit raw emotion and melodies drenched in melancholia. With his fifth studio album however, Makó reclaims the heaviness of his early years, pushing his sound into new, atmospheric territory.Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép is much darker and heavier and more complex than anything I have done”, says Makó.

Working within a larger, more dynamic canvas, Makó's confessional power is met with metal-wrought anguish, reborn as an intimate, haunting journey toward authenticity. Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép is an elegy to his late mother. “Between the death of my mother and the birth of my son we only had two weeks" explains Makó, and this complexity of emotion is felt in every beat and breath of the album. Survival, suffering, isolation, the endless human turmoil that hangs over our shared and personal grief. All this is expressed defiantly, through a voice that is devastatingly vulnerable and resilient.

While The Devil’s Trade remains a deeply personal, largely self-driven project, Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép also reflects the input of key collaborators. "Just like with (previous album) Vidékek vannak idebenn, my old friend Gaspar Binder helped me write and record the drums and I wrote and played everything else. Szabolcs Szűcs, our local legend engineered the album and my best friend Márton Szabó helped us as a producer, or I love to use the term: musical conscience. This time I dared to ask another friend of mine, Nikita Kampard (Der Weg Einer Freiheit) to be the mastering engineer and it makes me so grateful that he said yes", states Makó.

Nincs Szennyezetlen Szép is not an easy listen, nor was it meant to be. It is a sincerely painful document of mourning and the myriad of emotions that grip us, from bitter rage to catatonic sadness. It is a testament to the resilience found in surviving and continuing through all, a reminder that "there is no uncontaminated beauty".

Swedish alt.metal heavyweights Smash Into Pieces announce new album ARMAHEAVEN

Swedish rock heavyweights Smash Into Pieces are set to unleash their most ambitious album to date, ARMAHEAVEN, arriving 31st October, 2025.

Pre-save: https://www.smashintopieces.com/armaheaven

With over half a billion streams and views, Smash Into Pieces have risen to become one of modern rock’s most dominant forces. From supporting Evanescence and Within Temptation on the Worlds Collide Tour (2022), reaching the Swedish Eurovision final twice, and delivering 1000+ shows worldwide, the band has cemented its global presence. 2024 was a milestone year with multiple headline tours across Scandinavia, North America, and Europe, followed by a packed festival summer. In 2025, the band’s expansion continues with tours in Thailand, Australia, Europe, and the Nordics.

On ARMAHEAVEN, Smash Into Pieces push their cinematic storytelling further than ever. Picking up where their previous album Ghost Code left off, the new chapter throws listeners into a dystopian future where Ghostis, now unstoppable, seizes control of the world. As the resistance falls, a new force emerges: an AI-driven entity that sparks an all-out digital war for dominance. The clash escalates into global catastrophe, exploring themes of power, survival, and rebirth. Will humanity find salvation, or will the machines consume themselves in a final great reset?

The album also features high-profile collaborations with Elize Ryd (Amaranthe), LIAMOO, and Swedish/Japanese media icon LiLiCo. Together with Smash Into Pieces, LiLiCo delivers the powerful duet 'First Time', bridging continents and cultures - a collaboration introduced to the public on Swedish national television in August 2025.

With an ever-growing international fanbase, countless sold-out shows, and their boldest musical and narrative vision yet, Smash Into Pieces close out 2025 at the peak of their career—proving once again why they are one of the leading forces in modern rock.

A Killer's Confession stream video for new single on album release day

A Killer’s Confession, the alternative metal band fronted and created by Waylon Reavis (ex Mushroomhead), release their fifth studio album, Victim 2, today via MNRK Heavy.  A new video for opening track 'Hopeless Gray' is also available now.

Additionally, A Killer’s Confession announce a U.S. tour with labelmates Dogma this November.

On Victim 2, Waylon delves deeper into the concept of the light and dark sides of mankind, and continues the story of a serial killer who wants to bring horrific criminals to justice. But, as he's learning, there are consequences for his misguided deeds, even if he thinks they are the right thing to do.

Waylon says, “Welcome to Victim 2. This is my proudest moment as an artist. It’s very hard to be a fan of your own music, but it is very easy to become a fan of the people you work with to create the music. So much hard work and determination between myself, Dusty Boles and Evan McKeever was put into finishing the second part of the Victim trilogy. I could honestly say I could not have done it without them. I feel this album pulls at every emotion and takes the listener on a true journey while leaving a void for Victim 3 to finish the story.”

Victim 2 kicks off in bristling fashion with 'Hopeless Grey' and 'In Case Of Emergency,' but as the story progresses, the collection of songs explores different musical territory. Victim 2 shows how A Killer’s Confession like to blend genres, notably on the track 'Hollow.' While the song may have an aggro guitar sound, there’s a pop hook in the chorus, while EDM and trap sounds lurk just below the surface. Throughout Victim 2, the dark inner voices plaguing the murderous vigilante emerge in pitch-shifted fashion to distinguish them from his “normal” self. The unexpected cover of Nirvana’s 'Heart Shaped Box' halfway through the album signals a turning point for the killer as he starts re-evaluating his humanity. The closing track wraps things up in an epic, melodic fashion.

German modern metal outfit Unprocessed unveil emotive single / video

German metal outfit Unprocessed have unveiled 'Beyond Heaven's Gate', the powerfully emotive second single taken from their upcoming album Angel, due for release on Halloween 2025 (31st October).

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/jL0w_8q4vsY

Pre-order Angel here: https:ffm.to/unprocessed-angel

Unprocessed comment on 'Beyond Heaven's Gate': "We can believe in things beyond heavens gate - bats communicate with ultrasonic waves, dogs can smell diseases before they break out, cats can see in the night… so wouldn’t it be foolish to think that we can sense everything there is? This song represents a longing for something more than we can see, an answer to our internal questions about life and death. If you wish for it, you can be in touch with those who aren’t physically around anymore, and connect with a world 'Beyond Heaven’s Gate'.

"Musically this may be our catchiest song on the album, with a more active rock approach while staying true to our progressive roots."

'Beyond Heaven's Gate' follows the single 'Solara' featuring Zelli of Paleface Swiss, a crushingly heavy track that combines an electronic approach with the signature Unprocessed downtuned riffage.

Unprocessed have also been announced as main support to Jinjer on their 2026 UK/EU headline tour, with Textures opening. Catch them on the following dates:

27 Jan: SWG3, Glasgow
28 Jan: 3Olympia, Dublin
29 Jan: O2 Ritz, Manchester
30 Jan: O2 Institute, Birmingham
31 Jan: O2 Forum Kentish Town, London

Unprocessed is composed of Manuel Gardner Fernandes (vocals, guitar), David Levy (bass, synths), Christoph Schultz (guitar), and Leon Pfeifer (drums). Their upcoming album Angel marks another bold step in the band’s creative evolution. Expanding their sonic palette with heavier textures and emotive and intimate lyricism that highlights their poppier side. Angel features high-profile guest appearances from Zelli of Paleface Swiss and Jason Aalon Butler of Letlive and Fever 333. These collaborations add new layers of urgency and intensity to a record that explores themes of conflict, duality, and inner transformation.

The band speaks more about the themes of Angel: "This album is more than just a record by four boys from Germany - it’s a light shone upon the unknown, like memories from the afterlife. We explored the concept of "Angel" in various ways: becoming an angel through real-life actions, hearing angels serenade, a fallen angel telling his story and becoming the Antichrist, or seeing someone as an angel through glorification. This concept inspired both the music and the lyrics. While we’re leaning more into a polished metalcore sound, the record still maintains the essence of what makes Unprocessed unique. It features some of the craziest guitar, bass, and drum work we've ever showcased as a band. At the same time, we believe it’s more accessible to the broader metal and metalcore audience, with our strongest and catchiest hooks and melodies to date.

The band’s previous album, ...and everything in between (2023), received widespread acclaim for its complex arrangements and specifically heavy compositions. The record launched a major touring cycle which saw the band complete headline shows with many sold out across North America, and Europe, as well as performing their largest shows in China, and venturing into Japan, Thailand, Singapore and Australia for the first time. They also appeared at prominent festivals such as Download (UK), Graspop Metal Meeting (Belgium), Mystic Festival (Poland) and Resurrection Festival (Spain).

In the past two years, Unprocessed have supported major heavy acts including In Flames, TesseracT, August Burns Red, Spiritbox, and Polyphia. Their collaborative work with Polyphia guitarists Tim Henson and Scott LePage on ...and everything in between highlighted  the potential Unprocessed continues to exhibit amongst the scene’s most exciting guitar focused acts.

Central to Unprocessed’s identity is guitarist and vocalist Manuel Gardner Fernandes, whose playing has garnered international attention across online platforms and beyond. His partnership with Ibanez, including a signature model, and his ongoing guitar clinics around the world, reflect his growing status as one of the leading voices in modern metal guitar.

Unprocessed continue to push their sound forward with each release. Angel presents their most focused and dynamic material to date, offering a deeper look into the extremes of human experience without losing the technical foundations that first set them apart.

Finnish instrumental duo NYOS unveil double single ahead of new LP

NYOS, the lauded Finnish instrumental duo, have unveiled a new double single, ahead of their forthcoming record Growl (10th October Pelagic Records).

Watch the videos here:
'Lo4': https://youtu.be/5iPu7CTCxp4
'Pepe-Pepe': https://youtu.be/p8tXRR8vGb4

Pre-order Growl here: https://orcd.co/nyos-growl

'Lo4', in typical NYOS form, is a dynamically shifting piece that plays with space and composition. The song is a complex movement, picking up speed, revisiting and reinventing as it travels through time. Drawing the listener in, it constantly surprises, ending with a frenzied final surge.

'Pepe-Pepe', the fourth single ahead of Growl is a more introspective, hypnotic affair, demonstrating the duo's looping prowess and mesmeric interplay at its best.

The band comment: "Really happy to release 'Pepe-Pepe' & 'Lo4' out into the wild and fun to release our first ever double single - these two tracks really show kinda the full range of where we ended up going with Growl and the first two tracks of the B-Side of the record!

"When mixing the album, we didn't have like a really set end for 'Pepe-Pepe' and ended up coming up with a super direct transition between that and 'Lo4'. When
Robin from Pelagic suggested releasing both tracks together to keep that transition intact, rather than releasing just a single single, we jumped at it... these are the last tasters of Growl before the full release, and we hope you all enjoy them!"

Comprised of guitarist Tom Brooke and drummer Tuomas Kainulainen, NYOS are known for their immersive and often physically demanding live shows. The duo create massive sonic worlds using Brooke’s labyrinthine loops and atmospheric layering alongside Kainulainen’s kinetic drumming, in music that is rhythmic, raw, and eclectic.

Since their formation in 2014, NYOS have carved out a distinctive place within Europe’s experimental and post-rock scenes, characterised by their relentless energy, polyrhythmic complexity, and hypnotic layering.

While still rooted in their signature loop-based approach, Growl is “more ambitious with song soundscapes and compositions”, says guitarist Tom Brooke, naturally embracing a denser, more textured sound with greater attention to atmosphere and tension.

Throughout their discography, NYOS have shown an emotional and tonal shift toward ambiguity — a willingness to dwell in dissonance or delay resolution in favour of sustained tension or tranquil drift. These dramatic shifts can be felt throughout the album, in which the listener is escorted from vibrance to intensity, offering a contrast not in energy, but in clarity.

“We often have a vibe or some ideas we wanna try out”, comments Brooke. “The songs though basically come from jamming - we'll jam stuff and I record the jams, and then kinda backwards shape them into songs which we then re-record! So often the final structures will be set when doing the first guitar/loop recordings, but the ideas are always all there.”

The result is a dynamic and emotionally complex record that feels like a mature synthesis of everything that had come before. There is a joy in the interplay of Growl, even when the music veers into abrasive terrain.

Growl is our longest record to date, and when producing it, we were very conscious to make sure it is an album that holds the listener”, states Brooke.

Throughout Growl, NYOS remain unmistakably themselves: their hallmark technical precision and sonic inventiveness are ever-present. Harnessing a vast dynamic range, the Finnish two-piece blend moments of fragile minimalism with visceral, precise, and emotionally immersive sound. “I think sonically it has all the characteristics of some of our works, but I think that we both feel like this record is the first time we've ever truly managed to capture everything we want”, says Brooke, “all the angles/emotions/vibes came out just as we hoped/imagined.”

As eclectic and exciting as ever, NYOS are a band in continuous motion, unafraid to challenge themselves and their listeners with ever-expanding sonic vocabularies. Growl is an album that is both coherent and seamless in its movement, walking a tightrope between meticulous structure and explosive energy.

In their time NYOS have performed hundreds of shows across the globe, including with Zeal & Ardor, Esben & The Witch and The Comet Is Coming.

CONJURER unveil new single 'Let Us Live'

British metal heavyweights CONJURER have revealed another glimpse of their incredible third album, Unself, due 24th October via Nuclear Blast Records. 'Let Us Live', the second single released ahead of Unself, is out now.

Watch the video for 'Let Us Live' here: https://youtu.be/VdcHE0OjS7Q
Pre-order Unself here: https://conjurer.bfan.link/unself

CONJURER's co-vocalist and guitarist Dani Nightingale comments that 'Let Us Live' is based on "the idea that, even though trans and gender non-conforming people have existed for thousands of years, in all cultures, of all races, we are considered a blight on the earth and don’t deserve the rights that every other human being should be allowed upon birth. We try to educate people about our situation, to make people aware of our existence in the hopes that we (and anyone who questions their sex/gender) will be accepted and understood, yet are demonised as predators, corrupting and indoctrinating everyone around us. The song takes the form of a conversation between the Oppressed and Oppressor, just trying to understand what it is about us that causes this vitriol, when all we want to do is survive - a plea, to let us live."

CONJURER will be touring Unself across the UK and Europe in November. UK dates will be supported by Pijn and Death Goals.

UK dates:

Nov 09 - Damnation Festival, Manchester (CONJURER only)
Nov 11 - The Joiners, Southampton
Nov 12 - The Underworld, London
Nov 13 - Strange Brew, Bristol
Nov 14 - Asylum, Birmingham

Tickets available from: https://www.conjureruk.com/live

CONJURER also be touring Europe across the following dates:

Oct 28 - La Bulle Cafe - Lille (France)
Oct 29 - Point Éphémère - Paris (France)
Oct 30 - Le Grillen - Colmar (France)
Oct 31 - Werk Kultur Lokal Baden - Baden (Switzerland)
Nov 1 - Ziggy Club - Torino (Italy)
Nov 2 - Alchemica Music Club - Bologna (Italy)
Nov 4 - Backstage - München (Germany)

Full dates can be found at https://www.conjureruk.com/live

CONJURER have evolved radically since the release of their debut album (Mire, 2018), and their second release (Páthos, 2022) saw them lauded among the most exciting British metal bands. Whilst award nominations and accolades accumulated, the four-piece band retained their very simple mission: to make heavy music and have fun whilst doing so. Preferring to use their spotlight to showcase technicality and musicality rather than centring politics or opinions, CONJURER lived in the moment and embraced everything that came their way.

Within the tumult of forging a renewed identity as a band, on Unself there is a more intense, more personal voyage of discovery unfurling for vocalist/guitarist Dani Nightingale. Diagnosed with autism at age 31, their long-held view of self, and perception of their place in the world began to unravel. Unself documents much of the piecing back together around the diagnosis, alongside the realisation they were non-binary.

These vignettes of processing and self-actualisation take place against the backdrop of a society careening towards glassy-eyed capitalist dystopia; finding firm footing eludes many of us - and CONJURER delve headfirst into exploring these suffocating new societal parameters.

Within Unself's nine tracks, CONJURER deliver the writhing post-metal sound they’ve become known for, but have loosened their grip on the desire to fill every moment with sonic obliteration. Instead, they have leaned into utilising space, gifting listeners a little breathing room which serves to make the heavy elements feel all the more intense.

A more direct, organic approach to songwriting was facilitated by the ever-strengthening bonds within the band, and the supportive environment created by producer Joe Clayton. Allowing themselves more time than with any previous recording experience, they committed to preproduction sessions, followed by an elongated recording period in order to do justice to the material they had crafted. Stripping back the excesses of previous outings to reveal their solid songwriting chops allowed for more clarity and more dynamics to shine through. To their ears, the mood, the core of the lyrical content and the music are more aligned than ever before.

This record is the sound of four individuals living with more purpose and as a consequence creating with more purpose. Unself sees them reaching out to offer community, catharsis and connection. CONJURER remain true to their original mission - they’re still having fun, playing interesting heavy music - but now that music is imbued with the power that comes from opening themselves up to others, at first within the band, and now beyond.
