Swedish post-rock masters EF unevil 'Ett' single

Swedish post-rock masters EF today reveal 'Ett', another glimpse of their re-recorded version of their now classic debut album, Give Me Beauty… or Give Me Death!.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/Cey4JbBYnXE
Pre-order the album and stream the single here: https://orcd.co/ef-ett

The band comment: "'ETT' (meaning 1) was originally not recorded with the other songs back in 2005, but was actually one of the first songs we wrote for the album. Together with ”He Came, He Stayed, He Fell” it was meant as a part of a trilogy of shorter, more ambient pieces to act as fill outs. It still became one of the more epic and most important songs for us to really set the tone for what to come on the debut album. Short but massive! And the ”number songs” have continued ever since…"

Long regarded as singular architects within European post-rock, EF have built a catalogue defined by dynamic patience, melodic clarity, and widescreen emotional reach. Across two decades of touring, the Gothenburg ensemble have carried that language to clubs and theatres at home and abroad, earning a reputation for meticulous, high-impact live shows and a body of work that has steadily gathered critical regard and a devoted international following.

Reimagined and with expanded production, this new edition is a considered re-engagement with the material that first crystallised EF’s voice. The band return to these songs with the benefit of twenty years’ craft, presenting new arrangements that stretch time and deepen narrative, while retaining the quiet-to-catharsis arc that has always set their music apart.

“Since it’s our precious firstborn we wanted to give it the love it surely deserves. We felt we didn’t want to celebrate its big 20th birthday by just remastering it and we surely didn’t want to make the songs too modern and unrecognisable for the old fans. We wanted to give it a tighter, more dramatic and bombastic make over… a gentle touch of today’s EF.” (Niklas Åström)

Originally released in 2006, Give Me Beauty… or Give Me Death! introduced EF’s signature blend of cinematic guitars, patient dynamics and aching melody. For this new edition, along with an incredible cover illustration by Phillip Janta and brand-new bonus track ‘Noll’, the band returned to the material with fresh ears and clear intentions: to open more space in the arrangements and to enrich the melodic lines with orchestral colour.

"When we recorded the originals back in 2005 we didn’t know much about arrangements nor did we know many musicians playing strings or brass. We also didn’t have enough money to rent a studio for more than three days, which forced us to rock and record all the songs live with minimum retakes. The add-ons were later done in Daniel’s (Juline) apartment with a shitty microphone and you can hear someone doing dishes in the kitchen and the trams running by outside.

"This time we had money saved up and time to hang out in the studio to play around, arrange and track properly, but also to bring in professional musicians to fulfil our musical vision. It was intended 20 years ago but we couldn’t get it done." (Niklas Åström)

The compositions now open further, allowing phrases to breathe and themes to unfold with greater intention. Brass and strings thread through the arrangements to widen the harmonic field and intensify the music’s gravitational pull. Guitar architectures are voiced with more restraint and more consequence; percussion serving the songs whilst retaining the backbone. Dynamics have been sculpted with greater nuance; crescendos are permitted to unwind more slowly, and motifs are developed with discipline, small gestures accruing significance until the inevitable release, the swell of post-rock roars, in which we find EF’s lyricism within a larger, orchestral-adjacent palette.

For Pelagic Records, release number 300 is both a celebration and statement of intent: an affirmation that the label’s long-game approach to curation continues to reward artists who value evolution. For EF, this release closes a circle while drawing a new one around where they are now - seasoned, sonically expansive, and unafraid to reinvent and elevate.

Give Me Beauty… or Give Me Death! (20th-Anniversary Edition) is a document of growth rendered with care: more instrumentation, more time, more consequence. The album is an act of stewardship - both a homage and a forward-looking manifesto for EF and for discerning listeners everywhere.

Devoured by the Mouth of Hell was recorded and produced by HERIOT's Jake Packer with Josh Middleton (Sylosis, Architects) and mixed and mastered by GRAMMY Award-winning Will Putney (END, Fit For An Autopsy, Better Lovers), with additional engineering by Justin Hill (SikTh, Betraying the Martyrs).

NMEKerrang! and Upset magazine cover stars, Devoured by the Mouth of Hell was been critically acclaimed worldwide as the breakthrough metal album of the year. Celebrating the release, HERIOT performed an intimate album release show in Bristol, which instantly sold out. Following the album release, HERIOT toured the UK and across Europe supporting Fit For An Autopsy and Sylosis, alongside Darkest Hour.

In April of this year HERIOT celebrated Devoured by the Mouth of Hell with a UK headline tour across five sold-out dates, including a show at London's iconic The Underworld.

HERIOT's debut album continues their ascendancy as the pre-eminent new force in the UK heavy scene. The album follows 'Siege Lord' and late 2023's 'Soul Chasm', the first two glimpses of new material following their signing with Century Media and support shows with Architects in summer of 2023.

HERIOT's debut EP Profound Morality (2022, Church Road Records) catapulted the quartet into the global spotlight, with praise worldwide and a debut, sold-out, headline tour across the UK. The band have since supported Lamb Of God, Thy Art Is MurderRolo Tomassi, and performed to packed tents at Download Festival, 2000trees, Wacken Open Air, Bloodstock, Mystic Festival and many more, gathering a legion of fans in the process. They since followed Profound Morality with the ferocious standalone single 'Demure' (February 2023, Church Road Records).

Fully-focused and with a razor-sharp edge, the awe-inspiring double-vocal attack of Jake Packer and Debbie Gough is all-conquering; the titanic support of Erhan Alman (guitar) and Julian Gage (drums) rock-solid.

HERIOT have deservedly been grabbing attention with all four pairs of hands, weaponising metallic sludge and hardcore, unholy levels of distortion, speed and gut-punching talent. Elements of NailsKnocked LooseCode Orange, and Vein.fm combine and collide to exhilarating effect, creating a sound that is truly groundbreaking, fully worthy of the notice the band are achieving.

In their short recent history HERIOT have caught the attention of NMEPitchfork, The Guardian, Metal Hammer UK, Rock Sound, Brooklyn Vegan, Kerrang!, Revolver, and Knotfest, among many others, heralding the quartet as "one of the most promising young bands in modern metalcore", and "probably the best new metal band in Britain".

Rising British heavy metal band TAILGUNNER announce new album and stream title track single

Carrying the torch of NWOBHM, young British band  TAILGUNNER have announced their upcoming sophomore record, Midnight Blitz, out 6th February via Napalm Records. Along with the announcement and fittingly introduced by air raid sirens comes the first new song, title track 'Midnight Blitz'.

Watch the video for 'Midnight Blitz' here: https://youtu.be/nnsTQq_8mR8

Pre-order Midnight Blitz here: https://lnk.to/TailgunnerMidnightBlitz/napalmrecords

Drawing heavily from classic heavy metal sounds, TAILGUNNER have found support in the very heroes they follow: after making a strong impression supporting KK’s Priest, legendary guitarist K.K. Downing went on to produce Midnight Blitz. The dynamic album now pushes the genre forward just like its influences once did, with TAILGUNNER always crafting their sound and building on what they have, whilst never compromising on what they started with. Blitzkrieg drums and screaming twin lead guitars in new single 'Midnight Blitz' make the 80s come alive again – a powerful harbinger of what earned TAILGUNNER K.K. Downing’s rare endorsement.

TAILGUNNER commented: “Whilst touring our debut album, we shared stages with members of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Accept – we watched, we learned, and we put it all down on tape. The aim behind ‘Midnight Blitz’ was to craft an all time album opener, like ‘Aces High’, ‘Painkiller’, ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and ‘Hells Bells’. Everyone remembers the first time you hear the opening track on an album that changes everything. The hair stands up on the back of your neck and you know from this moment onwards, nothing will ever be the same. The launch sequence on the next era of TAILGUNNER has been hit. ‘Masters of the skies, never call it quits. Time to do or die, we are the Midnight Blitz!’”

K.K. Downing commentedTAILGUNNER is a band we should have seen emerge years ago from the UK. They personify everything that is heavy metal. They are loud and proud, and totally descended from everyone in metal that has gone before – their energy and rawness, together with their brand of metal, incorporates all of the godfathers and much more. Maiden, Priest, Motörhead, Def Leppard – the list is endless. The band has a youthful freshness and a uniqueness that will no doubt elevate them to being a true Metal favourite of the fans.”

Midnight Blitz is classic Heavy Metal without being pastiche. This is a band for the here and now – not just worshipping at the altar, but determined to stand upon it as the Metal Gods of a whole new generation of headbangers. TAILGUNNER prove their skills effortlessly, carving themselves out as Heavy Metal’s future and grabbing the torch from the legends themselves. Catchy hooks, killer riffs, and appealing to every heavy metal fan – join K.K. Downing and discover your new heroes now.

TAILGUNNER comment on new album Midnight Blitz“Like phantoms of the clouds, the Midnight Blitz screams silently through the air. Descending on their prey, a Heavy Metal militia striking at the speed of sound. Only blood can run! Whilst touring our debut album, we were described by one roadie as ‘The bastard child of Maiden & Priest’ and that became the ethos for our new album Midnight Blitz. Just like our fore bearers, we are determined to push forward, always crafting our sound and building on what we have, whilst never compromising on what we started with – Pure Heavy Metal! We are not just worshipping at the altar of those who have gone before, but determined to stand upon it and be the heroes for a whole new generation! We played over 100 shows touring our debut album, sharing the stages with some of the most legendary names in Metal while paying our dues in blood, sweat, tears and endless nights out on the road. Everything we learned is on display here, packed into 10 tracks in what we feel can be a true, essential TAILGUNNER album. Produced by none other than the Metal guitar God K.K. Downing, working closely with K.K. during this entire process has been the ride of a lifetime and you can hear those touches of a bonafide Metal God throughout this album!”

The trio have also announced their 2026 headline tour. Catch Exploring Birdsong at the following dates:

Sep 23 Glasgow Classic Grand
Sep 24 London Islington Assembly Hall
Sep 25 Bristol Strange Brew
Sep 26 Manchester Gorilla

Exploring Birdsong are also headlining London's St Pancras Old Church tonight, 5th November, and 6th November. After the first date sold out in two minutes, the band added a second. This also sold out in minutes - underlining the breathless excitement building around the group.

The band comment: "'Romanticise' is centred around a relationship plagued by toxicity. Written from the perspective of the perpetrator, lyrically it depicts the needless and unnecessary frustration & anger shown towards their partner.

"The chorus had to be catchy. This was written first, and as the writing process developed and lyrical content was formed, we wanted the breakdown section to match the chaotic and aggressive nature of the lyrics.

"The opening line to the chorus is a sarcastic jab at the protagonist’s partner; ‘You could romanticise a car wreck at eighty’ - it illustrates their frustration at a tenaciously positive outlook, and is followed by ‘would you anatomise the way I’m behaving?’, shifting the blame from themselves as if their behaviour is being overly scrutinised when questioned.

"The song is written - unfortunately - from personal experience."

The alt-pop trio, centred on Lynsey Ward’s stunning vocals, showcase a richer and more expansive element with their newest effort – a mature evolution from the organic rawness of their piano-led roots. Despite the shift in sound first signalled with the acclaimed 2024 singles 'The Collapse', 'Weight in Gold', 'All I Lack', and 'Stitch', the three-piece haven’t sacrificed any of the emotional intimacy or genre-blending beauty that sets them apart.

The voice of Lynsey Ward (also of Espera), mixed with the talents of Jonny Knight (bass & keyboards) and Matt Harrison (drums) help forge a truly unique approach to songwriting and modern heavy music. Catching the ears of fans worldwide, Exploring Birdsong will perform two headline shows at London’s famed St Pancras Old Church on November 5th and 6th – gigs which sold out in a matter of minutes.

The dates follow the trio’s two 2024 headline showcases in Manchester and London, also both sold out. Previously the band have supported Katatonia and Sleep Token as well as a main stage appearance at RADAR and Euroblast festival. Straddling pop, progressive rock and uncategorisable genre-blending beauty, the band are mostly unplaceable, but 'Romanticise' suggests flashes of Everything Everything’s inventiveness, the dramatic flair of Kate Bush, and the synth-heavy intensity of Enter Shikari – whilst remaining uniquely Exploring Birdsong.

Exploring Birdsong are:
Lynsey Ward - vocals, piano
Jonny Knight - bass, synthesisers
Matt Harrison - drums, percussion

Future Static return with huge new single 'There's Nowhere Else To Go'

Australian breakthrough heavy act Future Static return with their highly anticipated new single / video 'There's Nowhere Else To Go' via Wild Thing Records, the first new music from the band since their highly acclaimed Liminality album.

Watch the video to 'There's Nowhere Else To Go' here: https://youtu.be/ZStViphi_gw

After a two years of international touring, including a headline EU/UK tour, festival appearances and supporting the likes of Babymetal and Electric Callboy in Australia, Future Static mark a new era with their latest single ‘There’s Nowhere Else To Go’. Building on the foundations of their #1 Australian AIR-charting 2023 debut album Liminality, the band have crafted a refined sound and renewed purpose. An expansive mix of heavy, melodic, technical and chaotic, ‘There’s Nowhere Else To Go’ strikes a new depth musically and lyrically for a band that’s ready to push the extremes whilst staying true to their flow.

The band comment on the single: “‘There’s Nowhere Else To Go’ is an analysis on the duality of criticism from inspiring motivation and personal growth to the destructive inducement of self-hatred and insecurity.  Whilst we’ve all experienced the feeling of not being good enough it’s important to believe in yourself despite the constant judgmental commentary especially from the worst critic: your own self."

‘There’s Nowhere Else To Go’ was produced, mixed, and mastered by Christopher Vernon (Windwaker, The Beautiful Monument), accompanied by the music video of fabled director Colin Jeffs (Make Them Suffer, Alpha Wolf).

Melbourne five-piece phenomenon Future Static are carving their position among the one of the most exciting forces in modern metalcore. Following the success of their #1 Australian AIR-charting debut album Liminality (2023), the band have rapidly risen through Australia’s heavy scene and beyond, earning critical acclaim from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, and Triple J, whilst touring extensively across Australia; including supporting Babymetal, Electric Callboy, Jinjer, Enter Shikari, Don Broco and TesseracT. International touring has included EU/UK headline shows, supporting Ankor and Humanity’s Last Breath, and multiple prestigious European festival appearances; including Sziget (HU), Radar (UK), Reeperbahn (DE) and Euroblast (DE).

Blending technical precision with melodic chaos, Future Static's sound is both striking and emotionally raw - a reflection of personal struggle, resilience, and self-discovery. Led by their breathtaking lead vocal tandem, a magical chemistry of electrifying frontwoman Amariah Cook and bassist Kira Neil, and backed by the band’s swagger and blazing fury, Future Static have taken Australia’s live circuit by storm.

Their latest single 'There’s Nowhere Else To Go' marks a bold new era revealing a refined, mature, and fearless evolution. Fierce and sonically ambitious, Future Static are ready to take their unique brand of emotive heaviness to the world.

Lord Of The Lost collab with Infected Rain on new single 'Would You Walk With Me Through Hell?'

LORD OF THE LOST have revealed the third single cut from the upcoming new full-length, OPVS NOIR Vol. 2, out 12th December 2025 via Napalm Records. On 'Would You Walk With Me Through Hell?', LORD OF THE LOST team up with Infected Rain, adding an extra edge to the genre-fluid masters’ opulence. With Lena Scissorhands and Chris Harms, two of the most recognisable singers in the genre meet to create multi-layered soundscapes out of gentle clean vocals, powerful growls, and melancholic moods.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/pGw3G3HCtaQ

Pre-order OPVS NOIR Vol. 2 here: https://lnk.to/LOTL-OPVSNOIR

Following the recent success of last month’s co-headline tour with FEUERSCHWANZ, LORD OF THE LOST are currently in the middle of a tour of the UK and Ireland. Next year, the band will tour across the USA, Canada and Australia, before returning to Europe for the recently announced ‘TOVR NOIR 2026’, with shows in 19 countries.

Chris Harms commented on 'Would You Walk With Me Through Hell?': “It was a great challenge to create a love song with such a powerful and positive message, yet with such a dark title and an even more sinister instrumental. And working with Lena, her versatile voice and her intense charisma, from the first idea to the final result, was a great journey both musically and personally!”

Lena Scissorhands adds: “I’m incredibly honored and excited to have been invited to feature on this song with LORD OF THE LOST. I loved every minute of working on it, and I think the collaboration turned out very unique and its darkness is just so beautiful. I can’t wait for the world to hear it!”

Catch LORD OF THE LOST with support from UK metal outfit Skarlett Riot and the synth-rock pioneers JULIEN-K (featuring Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh of ORGY) on the following dates:

04.11.25 UK - Belfast / Limelight 1
05.11.25 UK - Dublin / Academy
07.11.25 UK - Bristol / The Prospect Building - Crane
08.11.25 UK - London / Electric Ballroom
09.11.25 UK - Southampton / Engine Rooms

With OPVS NOIR Vol. 2, the genre-fluid six-piece delves deeper into their melancholic take on unraveling their innermost selves and adds a hopeful new layer to the wonderfully dark panorama that was opened up by OPVS NOIR Vol. 1.

Following their enchantingly colourful 'Blood & Glitter', which earned them participation in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 and a #1 chart entry in their native Germany, Lord of the Lost reinvent themselves yet again. With OPVS NOIR Vol. 2, another 11 heartfelt songs join the three-part cycle, tying seamlessly into Vol. 1

Once again produced by frontman Chris Harms in the historic Chameleon Studios, it is yet another stirring example of the Hamburg-based band’s unparalleled versatility.

Opening with dark yet catchy 'The Fall From Grace', Lord of the Lost immediately showcases their way with grand ballroom choruses weaved into grave melodies that will continue to sit enthroned on all the varied tracks until the last note of the ballad 'Sharp Edges'. Joining in are guests ranging from scene favourites to top-tier musicians outside the metal genre. First up is Infected Rain’s Lena Scissorhands, who refines the pitch-black 'Would You Walk With Me Through Hell?' with the full range of her fierce, yet fragile vocals. Similarly, Anna Brunner of rising melodic metal stars League Of Distortion and symphonic metal band Exit Eden lends her energetic voice to 'Please Break The Silence', inducing goosebumps - every talent is an important scene in OPVS NOIR’s grimly colorful movie for the ears. The most moving collaboration is the opulent 'What Have We Become', in which experimental artist IAMX meets Chris Harms for a cathartic duet.

Completely fearless, Lord of the Lost have long since playfully risen above genre conventions and expectations. OPVS NOIR Vol. 2 mercilessly opens new doors in the band’s musical palace, yet still feels 100% at home for fans from the very beginning.
