JeGong (MONO, SUM OF R.) announce new album and stream first single

JeGong, the collaborative force of Dahm Majuri Cipolla (MONO) and Reto Mäder (SUM OF R.), have today announced their bold and genre-sculpting new album Gomi Kuzu Can.

Gomi Kuzu Can will be released 27th February via Pelagic Records - and the duo have released the first single from the record, 'Patterns'.

The band comment: "'Patterns' is our way of playing with repetition and motion - musically and mentally. The track feels like running through familiar spaces that constantly reshape themselves. That tension between nostalgia and forward momentum marks the beginning of the world of Gomi Kuzu Can. In the accompanying video, this idea is taken further as dream and reality merge, enhancing the sense of moving within a flowing cycle between inner perception and outward motion".

Known for their immersive, rhythm-driven explorations of krautrock and experimental sound design, JeGong now take an exhilarating leap into brighter, nostalgically stranger territory.

Gomi Kuzu Can is an electrifying journey through kraut, post- and experimental rock, delivered with the analogue warmth of the ’70s.

Across eleven meticulously crafted tracks, JeGong embrace their roots while fearlessly expanding into neon-lit, beat-driven worlds where kinetic rhythms meet playful sonic futurism. It is music built for movement, contemplation, and the ecstatic strangeness of possibility. Their approach borrows the endurance and patience of minimalism, but they subvert minimalism’s austerity with grit, distortion, and physicality. The result is music that feels alive in motion: constantly shifting, tightening, unfurling, and mutating even when its core pulse remains unbroken.

At the centre is the duo’s uncanny rhythmic intuition: drums that pulse with krautrock steadiness, bass lines that swing between monolithic foundation and crude melodic insistence. Together, these elements create a sonic environment that feels both mechanical and deeply human, ritualistic yet instinctual.

One of the album’s most striking achievements is its analogue warmth. In an era dominated by pristine digital surfaces, JeGong embrace imperfection: human element in every beat and modulation. Gomi Kuzu Can, is hand-built, lovingly assembled from circuitry, intuition, and raw creative impulse. This tactile quality is precisely what makes the album’s danceability so impactful. In blending organic rhythm with retro-electronic brightness, they’ve created a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly new.

Reto Mäder – bass, guitar, analogue synthesizer, electronics, mellotron, effects, amps, sounds
Dahm Majuri Cipolla – drums, percussion, effects, sounds

Metalcore band Shields reveal new single 'Miss Me', their tribute to their lost bandmate

Acclaimed British metalcore band Shields have released their new single and music video 'Miss Me'. The song is taken from their upcoming studio album Death & Connection, to be released on 30th January via Long Branch Records

"We lost someone dear to us. This song is our tribute — a personal account of the unbearably tragic farewell to our friend, George Christie." - Shields

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/V6iMYO84Rco

Pre-order the album here: https://shields.lnk.to/deathconnection

"Our new album Death & Connection is a body of work born from the absence of the people who no longer hold space in our lives," comments the band further. "This record was created from a necessity to express and soothe our deepest losses; however, that was never the intention — we simply set out to make an album we wanted to hear."

Founded in 2012 by primary songwriters Joe Edwards (vocals) and Samuel Kubrick Finney (guitar/vocals), Shields quickly made an impact in the heavy music scene with their viral single I Just Feel Hate - a track they re-released in a newly reimagined version in April 2025.

Their EP GUILT cemented their refined sound, blending brutal instrumentation with poignant, emotionally driven lyrics. With this release, they demonstrated an aggressive adaptability to the ever-evolving alternative music landscape, winning over fans from across adjacent genres. The momentum of their powerful breakthrough led to tour cycles alongside acts such as LoatheIce Nine Kills, and Escape the Fate.

Shields’ debut full-length album Life in Exile (2018) received critical acclaim for its raw honesty and musical maturity. However, the album cycle was tragically cut short by the sudden passing of guitarist George Christie - an event that ultimately led to the band’s untimely and abrupt disbandment.

Now, several years later, Shields are back - a bold decision, given the tragic circumstances surrounding their 2018 split. Yet, Shields re-emerged with the powerful single 'Abuser' (released via Long Branch Records), inviting audiences to witness the next evolution of their sound - matured, refined, and fearless. This new chapter is supported by a fortified lineup, featuring founding members Joe Edwards and Samuel Kubrick Finney, now joined by Alastair Wain (drums) and Krishan Pujara (bass).

If Shields’ discography is any indication of what lies ahead, audiences can expect a torrent of unrelentingly bold strides into new sonic territories.

LORD OF THE LOST conclude their album trilogy with OPVS NOIR Vol.3 and stream single feat. WEDNESDAY 13

LORD OF THE LOST’s latest journey comes to a brilliant close: with OPVS NOIR Vol. 3, the band announce the finale of their ambitious album trilogy. A direct continuation of OPVS NOIR Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, which were both unveiled in 2025, it releases on 10th April 2026 and gloriously expands on the genre-defying band’s opus.

Stream the new single and pre-order OPVS NOIR Vol. 3 here: https://lnk.to/LOTL-O

The most outside-the-box of the three, the third and final part of their latest voyage has the six-piece end this chapter of their career on a triumphant high note, intertwining heavy guitars and dark electronica with compassionate messages and cinematic orchestrals. On OPVS NOIR Vol. 3, another 11 enchanting songs extend the Hamburg-based band’s colorful repertoire. The final part of the trilogy is released in several editions, among them strictly limited collectibles.

The first song unveiled is 'I Hate People'. Showing yet another side of themselves, LORD OF THE LOST team up with WEDNESDAY 13 for the first single off the new record. The stomping industrial metal duet sets off fireworks with its theme of equality that fans love from the band.

LORD OF THE LOST and WEDNESDAY 13 are aptly starting their joint North American tour on 19th January, playing 16 shows across the USA and Canada, together with The Birthday Massacre.

Following the captivating 'Blood & Glitter', which brought them to the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 and a #1 chart entry in their native Germany to go along with it, LORD OF THE LOST once again demonstrate their unmatched diversity. Initiated by beautiful cello melodies, 'Kill The Lights' is an overture like no other, setting a dark mood, but also unafraid to switch it up to make room for catchy and reassuring 'I’m A Diamond' featuring Alea, frontman of German medieval metal torchbearers SALTATIO MORTIS. 'My Funeral', despite the name, picks up the positive message, expanding the near-gothic soundscapes while sprinkling in tongue-in-cheek lyrics, promoting black as a happy colour – wear pink to their funeral! Stomping 'I Hate People' invites horror punk icon WEDNESDAY 13 to an industrial duet about equality, after which gentle 'The Shadows Within' hits twice as hard with its symphonic arrangement. Next, Chris Harms and parting KISSIN’ DYNAMITE frontman Hannes Braun deliver the bombastic 'La Vie Est Hell' (based on Charles Baudelaire’s influential book of poetry, “Les Fleurs Du Mal”) partly in French language, before going back to 'Square One'. 'When Did The Love Break?' is a heartfelt song of lost love – the addition of whimsical vocals by Ambre Vourvahis of XANDRIA drives the emotions of this universal topic right home. After 'Your Love Is Colder Than Death', LORD OF THE LOST team up with Damien Edwards of British glam rock band CATS IN SPACE for the captivating duet 'Take Me Far Away', before the album closes with a ballad, 'The Days Of Our Lives' – the sweeping track simultaneously being the closest LORD OF THE LOST have ever been to a cinematic soundtrack. The happy ending is skipped, almost making it sound like a goodbye…

OPVS NOIR Vol. 3 continues to walk LORD OF THE LOST’s unpredictable journey without settling for the familiar. Rounding off an impressive trilogy, this record takes you by the hand and guides you along your darkest paths.

OPVS NOIR Vol. 3: the trilogy is finally concluded.

German prog metal trio The Hirsch Effekt release new single 'Die Brücke'

Today, German rock/metal trio The Hirsch Effekt release their newest single, 'Die Brücke'. It is the third track to be released from their new studio album, Der Brauch, which is out 30th January via Long Branch Records.

"'Die Brücke' – matching the music – takes on a less heavy theme," says singer Nils Wittrock"It’s more of an everyday scene. Two people meet at home after a long day and ask each other how it went. One decides to go straight to bed with the child. The other chooses to keep working. Amidst the everyday stress, the protagonist – realizing how much the close environment depends on him – tries to remain a safe harbour."

Since their formation The Hirsch Effekt have carved out a unique niche in heavy music, embracing limitless possibilities. Yet, despite - or perhaps because of - their elusiveness, the band have captivated a devoted audience.

While earlier works, despite their diversity, were still labelled “metal albums,” this new record explores paths first hinted at on the multi-layered second album, Holon : Anamnesis - the same album regarded as one of the best German-language records of all time. Der Brauch can be seen as a return to that pivotal point - and simultaneously as a bold step forward. Drummer Moritz Schmidt doesn’t entirely forgo blast beats, but the record demands a new heading. In the end, though, there is only one truth: it unmistakably sounds like The Hirsch Effekt.

The Hirsch Effekt are:
Nils Wittrock - Guitar, Vocals
Ilja John Lappin - Bass, Vocals
Moritz Schmidt - Drums

TAILGUNNER stream epic new single 'Eulogy'

British heavy metal’s rising stars TAILGUNNER present the masterful single 'Eulogy', taken from their upcoming album, Midnight Blitz, out February 6, 2026 via Napalm Records. As the album’s closing song, 'Eulogy' adds gentle orchestral melodies to their nostalgic sound before the power metal feel explodes into a speed metal firework. Epic and bold, the young quintet prove yet again what inspired the rare appearance of metal icon K.K. Downing as producer on their triumphant second record.

Pre-order Midnight Blitz here: https://lnk.to/TailgunnerMidnightBlitz/napalmrecords

TAILGUNNER comment on 'Eulogy': "'Eulogy' is the most epic release of our career so far. Inspired in particular by our heroes in Helloween & Blind Guardian, it's TAILGUNNER at full throttle, telling an epic journey into the afterlife. We needed a video that could match the scope of this quest, so once again sought the help of Andy Pilkington at Very Metal Art. Andy first came to our attention with his work on Judas Priest's Painkiller, and of course killed it with our last single 'Tears in Rain' too. Prepare to battle demons, to ride over fire & ice, and to face the ultimate fate. This is 'Eulogy'!"

TAILGUNNER unleash their second album, Midnight Blitz on 6th February 2026 via Napalm Records. Bursting onto the scene in 2022, their sophomore work draws heavily from classic British heavy metal, but just like those influences, the band are determined to push forward. Always crafting their sound and building on what they have, whilst never compromising on what they started with - pure heavy metal. In an astonishingly short time, the emerging British heavy metal talent have found support in the very heroes they follow: after making a strong impression supporting KK’s Priest, legendary guitarist K.K. Downing went on to produce the upcoming album, Midnight Blitz.

Midnight Blitz is classic Heavy Metal without being pastiche. This is a band for the here and now – not just worshipping at the altar, but determined to stand upon it as the Metal Gods of a whole new generation of headbangers. TAILGUNNER prove their skills effortlessly, carving themselves out as Heavy Metal’s future and grabbing the torch from the legends themselves. Catchy hooks, killer riffs, and appealing to every heavy metal fan – join K.K. Downing and discover your new heroes now.

TAILGUNNER comment on new album Midnight Blitz“Like phantoms of the clouds, the Midnight Blitz screams silently through the air. Descending on their prey, a Heavy Metal militia striking at the speed of sound. Only blood can run! Whilst touring our debut album, we were described by one roadie as ‘The bastard child of Maiden & Priest’ and that became the ethos for our new album Midnight Blitz. Just like our fore bearers, we are determined to push forward, always crafting our sound and building on what we have, whilst never compromising on what we started with – Pure Heavy Metal! We are not just worshipping at the altar of those who have gone before, but determined to stand upon it and be the heroes for a whole new generation! We played over 100 shows touring our debut album, sharing the stages with some of the most legendary names in Metal while paying our dues in blood, sweat, tears and endless nights out on the road. Everything we learned is on display here, packed into 10 tracks in what we feel can be a true, essential TAILGUNNER album. Produced by none other than the Metal guitar God K.K. Downing, working closely with K.K. during this entire process has been the ride of a lifetime and you can hear those touches of a bonafide Metal God throughout this album!”

Lionheart release new single 'Salt The Earth'

California’s hardcore heavyweights Lionheart push their current reign even further and now unleash their brand-new single 'Salt The Earth.' Building on the massive momentum of their recent run – from the comeback strike 'Bulletproof,' through the pit-igniting 'Roll Call,' the explosive 'Death Grip' featuring Kevin Skaff of A Day To Remember, and last week’s powerful title track 'Valley Of Death II' – the Oakland kings make it unmistakably clear that this new era is firing on all cylinders.

With 'Salt The Earth,' Lionheart deliver another uncompromising statement, driven by crushing grooves, merciless riffs, and commanding gang shouts that hit with absolute authority. The new single perfectly continues the band’s unstoppable streak and underlines why the response to their recent releases has been nothing short of overwhelming. One track after another, Lionheart prove that they have fully reclaimed their position at the top of modern hardcore.

With pre-orders for the new album already in full swing, Lionheart continue their unstoppable run toward the release of Valley Of Death II, set to drop on 9th January 2026 via Arising Empire. To complete this massive new era, Lionheart will return to Europe in January 2026 for a huge headline tour, joined by Madball, Gideon, and Slope. With 'Bulletproof' igniting the start and 'Roll Call' now following immediately, Lionheart make one thing crystal clear: this next chapter is already in full attack mode.

Doomcrusher release new single 'Odyssey'

German metalcore force Doomcrusher continue their rapid ascent with the release of their brand-new single 'Odyssey.' Forged in an atmosphere shaped by uncertainty and upheaval, the project was created with a clear purpose: to push against stagnation and channel heaviness into something powerful, focused, and forward-moving.

Listen here: https://arisingempire.com/doomcrusher

Founded by Andy Posdziech (Any Given Day) alongside Jean Bormann (Rage), Marv Kinkel, and Rob Lee, Doomcrusher combine stomping, heavy mid-tempo industrial riffs with uncompromising guttural vocals that resolve into expansive, uplifting hooks. Layered electronic elements add depth and tension, creating a modern metalcore sound that feels both massive and controlled while staying firmly rooted in metal’s foundations.

With 'Odyssey,' Doomcrusher take their next decisive step, expanding their sonic scope while maintaining the crushing intensity that has defined the project from the start. Following the strong response to their first releases 'Breakout,' 'Reflect,' and 'Adrenaline' featuring Any Given Day, the band have already surpassed 1.2 million streams worldwide with only three singles – a remarkable foundation for a project still in its early stages.

Driven by a clear artistic vision and an uncompromising approach, Doomcrusher are not simply adding another chapter to their story with 'Odyssey' – they are continuing a deliberate exploration of modern heavy music, proving that intensity, atmosphere, and ambition can coexist at full force.

Hold Tight!
Hold Tight turns 15!

Somewhere between the deadlines, the radio plugging and the gently ruined livers, Hold Tight quietly turned 15 this year.

Fifteen years of championing the loud, the strange, the beautiful, the underrated and the downright unhinged, while somehow becoming a genuinely respected (we hope), internationally operating music marketing agency in the process.

Founded in 2010 as Hold Tight! PR (originally the PR arm of Basick Records), what began as a scrappy idea has grown into a multi faceted music publicity and marketing company working across print, online, radio, digital, social media and now broadcast. And we did it all whilst having fun and building a solid team of some of the best in the business.

Over the years we’ve championed tech metal scientists, dark pop shapeshifters, indie dreamers, black metal nihilists and the many, many artists who insisted on wearing masks as an ‘original’ idea. We’ve promoted dwarves, goblins, Eurovision hopefuls, wolves, pirates, Star Wars lookalikes, a Sleep Token and a Hey Duggee-themed metal band alongside some very serious acts. And yet somehow none of this is still the weirdest part of the job.

Hold Tight began where the best (and worst) ideas begin, in a bar with two friends (James Monteith and Nathan ‘Barley’ Phillips) and one idealistic business plan. It became three friends almost immediately because Lisa Coverdale has a rare talent for materialising wherever chaos is brewing and confidently declaring herself management. Armed with a modest bank loan and an entirely immodest belief that great bands deserve to be heard, we clawed our way out of the murky depths of tech metal PR and into something far bigger than the bar tab that inspired it.

The early days were scrappy. When the team looks back now, the memories span the full spectrum of absurdity. One intern walked in on day one to find another agency we shared office space with being actively raided by the police. A welcome no onboarding manual could ever prepare you for.

Another, Matt Benton, who joined us as an intern in 2014 and is now a director, proved that Hold Tight career progression works a bit like natural selection, adapt, endure and eventually you’re in charge. His first month was spent learning the essentials of PR (press releases, admin, polite pestering) and designing necrophiliac themed dildos for a marketing campaign. As you do.

And yet despite the madness, people stayed.

Hannah Gillicker joined us as an intern in 2014 and now heads up her own arm of the business, Hold Tight Broadcast, our dedicated radio and TV plugging division, built to take artists far beyond playlists and into national broadcast spaces. She says she instantly felt like part of the family, even if her initiation involved some “questionable videos” (HR says they were absolutely fine).

In 2019 Darren Gosling joined and brought his digital marketing skills to Hold Tight, which led to our first full rebranding as a music PR and marketing agency in 2020. Although Darren sadly (we’re still not over it) moved on in 2025, his legacy remains and continues to evolve with James Hingle now at the helm.

James Hingle, first with us as an intern in 2014, returned after an 11-year sabbatical to work on our social media and digital marketing side, because apparently the gravitational pull of Hold Tight is strong enough to bend time. He described it simply as “coming home”. We love that.

Our newest colleague, Lydia Hoyle, joined in 2025 from Virgin Music to work alongside Hannah leading Hold Tight Broadcast. She says she’d always thought of Hold Tight as “an awesome and lovely team who are passionate about the music they work with and who work hard to get the best possible results. Also always a laugh too, which is very important.”

Ask what makes Hold Tight different from other agencies and James Monteith, founder, van‑lifer and resident expert on nuns, will usually mutter, “Other agencies wouldn’t employ me.” He’s not wrong. There may not be a journalist left on earth whom James hasn’t traumatised, charmed or (infamously) been sick on at least once along the way.

But the truth is bigger than that. We didn’t start with ex‑major pedigree or a cushy hand me down client list. Just enthusiasm, stupidity, relentless graft, one scary Scottish woman and a conviction that underrated bands deserve the same megaphone as anyone else.

From those humble beginnings, Hold Tight has grown into a genuinely international operation working with an impressive roster of clients and some of the biggest labels in the business. We now operate across print, online, radio, digital marketing, social strategy and full 360° campaign planning, plus TV through Hold Tight Broadcast. We expanded our global reach further in 2024 with the launch of Hold Tight Europe from a dedicated Netherlands based office headed up by Jessica Otten, allowing us to support artists across multiple territories with local expertise.

Along the way we’ve helped artists land national magazine covers, created viral memes, supported artists through their rise to play prestigious events such as headlining gigs at Wembley, main stage Download Festival appearances, Maida Vale debuts, Audiotree sessions and first appearances at the BBC. We’ve broken bands, built careers and once… launched a dildo line nobody asked for but nobody has forgotten… and along the way added a buttplug here and nipple glitter there… all whilst meeting the King. We created a stunning viral moment for Danny Wimmer’s Aftershock Festival via a Pentagram meme. We’ve watched artists like Sleep Token, Jinjer and Orbit Culture grow from humble beginnings to be leading lights on the world stage and somehow lived to tell the tale. And we’re not done yet.

Fifteen years in, we’re still weird. Still loud. We’re still here because of the people around us, the friends at the many offices we’ve haunted (special shoutout to BSI), our longstanding clients, every journalist who replied instead of deleting the email, every editor who indulged our stranger ideas, every band who trusted us and every colleague whose first day wasn’t their last. We also want to give hugs to the other magnificent PR agencies haunting our little corner of the world, the good ones, the ones with actual souls still rattling around inside them. And Simon Glacken at For The Lost PR, who often feels like he should already be working at Hold Tight, spiritually if not contractually. Sadly, a very real cease and desist suggests we stop manifesting this outcome, so for now we’ll admire him from the shadows and pretend this isn’t a fixation.

Thank you for supporting us, tolerating us and working with us.

We also want to thank every intern and team member who have been part of the Hold Tight journey along the way, including Darren Gosling whom we mentioned before, a piece of our heart will always be with you 🤣, Taran Plouzané, Paul Sellier, Jazmin L’Amy, Laura Herbert, Tess Hofer, David Perkins, Jess Tagliani, Dan Walton, Charlotte Birtles, Flo Pautet and Steph Knight. Huge apologies if we’ve missed your name, please know it was accidental, not personal.

We’d also like to thank Barley, without whom absolutely none of this nonsense would have survived long enough to become a real thing. Barley has since flown the nest and ascended to the next chapter of his life, where he now reigns as Head of A&R, Europe at Nuclear Blast / SharpTone Records. A genuinely rare soul in an increasingly feral industry, we’re endlessly proud of everything you do and quietly, sincerely hope we’re still doing the kind of work that makes you nod approvingly from afar.

Here’s to the next fifteen years of chaos, unchecked expansion, capes, questionable life choices, Jerry Ewing shouting ‘THAT’S NOT PROG!’ at us and pushing music out into the world that’s loud enough to justify all of it. Thanks for sticking with us.

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!” ― Hunter S. Thompson
