Michigan metalcore outfit, Of Virtue, have today released their brand new single, 'Death of the Altar', via Arising Empire alongside a haunting new video. Teased across the band's socials in the lead-up to the release, the track arrives as Of Virtue's first new offering of 2026 and a vicious continuation of the world they build on their 2023 record, Omen, which racked up an impressive 65 million streams since its release.
Watch the video for 'Death of the Altar' here: https://youtu.be/tQWPDB4C8oQ
Built on tight, searing riffs, gut-punching breakdowns, and a chorus that refuses to let go, 'Death of the Altar' leans into the intensity and emotional honest that have become Of Virtue's calling card. Co-written alongside Lee Albrecht (Bilmuri, The Devil Wears Prada, etc) and Evan McKeever (Starset, Koe Wetzel, etc), the track features the band's ongoing focus on addiction, mental health, and the stigma surrounding both, turning that internal fight into something loud, physical, and communal.
Directed by none other than Blackwolf Imaging and Levine Pictures, the 'Death of the Altar' music video pushes those themes into stark, ritualistic imagery that blurs the line between sacrifice and liberation. It sees the band confronting the weight of their own devotion, refusing to keep sacrificing themselves to old expectations and narratives.
Reflecting on the band's 2026 return and the story behind the track, vocalist and guitarist Damon Tate shares:
"It's felt like forever since we have put out new music and we are so excited to show everybody what we have been crafting over the past couple of years!
"We trade our health, clarity, and connection for things that never truly love us back on a daily basis. More often than not, we don't recognize the consequences of our choices/actions until it's too late. The guilt sets in and we set out to self soothe, compounding these negative emotions with even worse decisions, losing more of ourselves in the process. This song is our open admission that we as human beings are both worshipper and offering. 'Death of the Altar' is a stark metaphor for how chasing these ephemeral moments exploits our need for meaning, belonging and connection in this world.”
Harnessing the potent fusion of powerful melodies and emotionally charged lyrics, Of Virtue maintain a steadfast commitment to authenticity, consistently redefining the genre while staying true to their artistic essence. Beloved across 35 countries and having performed at multiple Danny Wimmer festivals, Upheaval, Full Force, Summer Breeze, and Pulp Summer Slam amongst many others, it's no surprise that they've shared stages with bands such as Slipknot, Bad Omens, Nothing More, and Three Days Grace. Beyond their musical prowess, the metal powerhouse also serve as passionate mental health advocates on and off stage. Often seen using their platform to raise awareness and openly discuss these vital issues, Of Virtue have become a source of hope and inspiration for countless fans facing similar challenges.
Carrying forward the spirit of their 2023 record, Omen, Of Virtue continue to champion vulnerability, community, and the belief that no one is defined solely by their worst decisions. With 'Death of the Altar' standing as the next chapter, the band further their evolution with a fearless, unflinching look at what it means to reclaim your life, even when it means burning down everything that once felt familiar.
Be sure to stay tuned for more Of Virtue news coming very soon.
Freshly signed metalcore outfit Hopsydian unveil their brand-new single 'DEVOTE' - a track that doesn’t just introduce the band’s next step, but defines the core of who they are.
Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/HRGjnBJ07Kw
Formed in Milan in 2024, Hopsydian have quickly built a reputation for blending sacral, ritualistic atmospheres with modern metalcore power, alt-metal sharpness, and post-hardcore urgency. 'DEVOTE' captures this duality perfectly: cinematic tension and dark elegance collide with crushing riffs, explosive dynamics, and massive, chant-ready choruses where beauty and brutality exist side by side .
At the heart of Hopsydian’s sound lies contrast. The band explore worship, love, obsession, sin, and the seductive temptation of becoming God - framing desire as devotion and temptation as salvation. Their name, derived from hope and obsidian, reflects this very balance: resilience and rebirth set against shadow and transgression. 'DEVOTE' feels like a ceremony in motion, slowly building atmosphere before erupting into moments designed to be shouted back from the crowd.
Despite having released only a handful of songs so far, Hopsydian have already proven their impact beyond the studio. In 2025, they made their live debut on the Slam Dunk Italy main stage, sharing the bill with international heavyweights before going on to support Caskets in Milan - a clear signal that momentum is already on their side.
With 'DEVOTE,' Hopsydian step into a new chapter - darker, bolder, and more intentional than ever. This is not just a single release, but the foundation of an era built on ceremony, contrast, and conviction. And if this track is any indication, Hopsydian are only just beginning to reveal how far their devotion will go.
Irish metallers Survivalist today release their long-awaited new album A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone via Seek and Strike, alongside a new single and video for the album’s title track. With this release, Survivalist continue to carve out a singular space in modern heavy music, refining their self-described groove-core sound, a visceral fusion of crushing riffs, climactic breakdowns and melody, bound together by unflinching emotional weight.

Listen to A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone here: https://open.spotify.com/album/4Sc7kfaImi7z8peeYXP0rd?si=9iY9BOPURqmNN5t6nK8DLA
Commenting on the single, Survivalist said: "This track is the most honest snapshot of who we are right now and what this record represents. The album is heavy, dark and aggressive, but it’s also meant to be a refuge, a place you can turn to no matter what headspace you’re in. Whether you need to vent anger, sit with sadness or just feel understood. 'A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone' captures the anguish, stress and mental weight behind the entire writing process, while setting the tone for the variety across the record."
Forged through personal struggle, lived experience and a raw response to the world as it is, A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone stands as Survivalist’s most focused and ambitious release to date. Written without boundaries or compromise, the album confronts themes of loneliness, isolation and mental health head-on, while allowing each track to exist as its own emotional reckoning. Brutal, dark and aggressive at its core, the record is equally intended as a sanctuary, a place to release anger, sit with sadness or simply feel less alone.
The album marks the band’s first release with Seek & Strike, following years of self-releasing their music. On signing to the label, Survivalist commented: "We’re absolutely delighted to sign to Seek and Strike. We've always wanted to do this properly and take it as far as we can go, not just for ourselves, but to help shine a light on the heavy and alternative scene in Ireland, which we feel deserves far more recognition. After self-releasing all of our music, we knew the next step was finding the right partner. A label that genuinely believed in our vision. From the very first conversation, it was clear that Seek and Strike were exactly that. Being a part of a label that’s helped grow bands we listen to is incredibly motivating and it truly feels like a mutual partnership. We couldn’t be happier to be part of the Seek and Strike family."
Survivalist first made their mark with their 2021 debut VII, a release praised for its intensity, introspective lyricism and modern yet familiar approach to heavy music. The album has surpassed 100,000 streams and earned widespread critical acclaim.
On the live front, the band have steadily built momentum, sharing stages with Thy Art Is Murder, Chelsea Grin, Polaris, Suffocation, Atreyu, Kublai Khan, Party Cannon, Heriot and Distant, among others. Their rising profile has also seen them appear on Channel 5 in prime-time television, interviewed by Gaby Roslin and Ortis Deley.
Following a recent tour with Thy Art Is Murder, Survivalist unveiled a run of singles from A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone, including 'Deathbed' featuring Alex Koehler (ex-Chelsea Grin / Ameonna), 'Radio Bleed' and 'Failure Of Being' featuring producer Josh Sid Robinson. The album also features a guest appearance from Kid Bookie on track 'Speak Up (Louder)'.
At their core, Survivalist are about connection, community and survival. Through A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone, they deliver a record that is as uncompromising as it is human, a powerful body of work from a band rapidly cementing their position as one of the most compelling heavy acts to emerge from Ireland in recent years.
Survivalist and Existentialist join forces for The Intimidation Across The Isles tour in spring 2026. The run will see the bands cross the UK and Ireland, joined by close friends Suffer on all dates, with death metal legends Foetal Juice appearing in Belfast and Dublin. These shows mark Survivalist’s only Irish headline performances of 2026, with more announcements and surprises still to come.

Danish alt-metal luminists MØL have released their third studio album DREAMCRUSH via Nuclear Blast Records and to celebrate have unveiled new single/video, 'Hud'.
The album follows a striking sequence of singles, from the brooding pull of 'Garland' and the urgent drive of 'Young' to the cathartic force of 'CRUSH', culminating today in the release of 'Hud', an immersive, shadow tinged track that plunges listeners into the record’s tense, otherworldly atmosphere. Across DREAMCRUSH, MØL sharpen their signature fusion of crushing heaviness and ethereal textures, delivering a sound that is at once unrelenting and eerily luminous.
Check out the video for ‘Hud’ here: https://youtu.be/Aj4cQllhsGc
Order and listen to DREAMCRUSH here: https://moel.bfan.link/dreamcrush
Guitarist Nicolai Busse comments on the new single: "'Hud' was the first composition I started on after we released Diorama and after the birth of my daughter. Listening to the song always takes me back to sitting on our living room floor with a guitar in hand and plucking away while she would play. The track is seminal to me in that it not only helped me form ideas on how the record should sound, but also becoming a father."
Following the critically acclaimed Jord (2019) and Diorama (2021), MØL’s latest opus, DREAMCRUSH, sees the band's sound continue to evolve as they embrace new horizons, as a collective and as individuals. Drawing on influences from My Bloody Valentine, Cocteau Twins and Smashing Pumpkins, the album delves into recurring themes of belonging, resilience and finding a sense of home within oneself. By weaving melody into even their sharpest, most jagged moments, the band emerge with their most soul-stirring work to date.
DREAMCRUSH explores the precarious balance between hope and burden: dreams can sustain you, give you something to believe in - but the weight of expectation, the burden of reality can also mean that such dreams can become oppressive; they can just as easily shatter you. In amongst clouds of unfathomable loss and grief, the album offers rays of almost unbearable hope - a reminder that we can keep on dreaming despite ourselves.
MØL's latest offering delivers a record that is as merciless as it is tender, one that challenges, uplifts and lingers, a reminder that even in the heaviest darkness, there is a light worth chasing.
MØL now take DREAMCRUSH across Europe and the UK this February with support from Tayne and Cold Night For Alligators, as the band continue to push deeper into their own atmospheric and uncharted creative world.

Swedish noisemakers Norna and Legbiter have announced the release of their self-titled split EP on 20th March via Pelagic Records. They have also unviled a new single, Legbiter's 'Speedball'.
Pre-order the split EP and stream 'Speedball' here: https://orcd.co/legbiter
As the second single from their split EP, Legbiter treat us to this rampaging single ‘Speedball’. Infused with a noise-rock/shoegaze 90s atmosphere and the energy of post-hardcore, this head-banger of a track is all at once fuzzy, catchy and devastatingly precise. There is a sharpness to Legbiter’s writing with no movement wasted. They deliver impact with surgical focus. Anchored by urgent and unfiltered vocals, the track moves from vibrant verses to stomping chorus, exhibiting Legbiter’s ability to blend styles, lean into the hook of melody and subtly tweak the dynamics without losing momentum or intensity.
From the cold North of Sweden, Norna and Legbiter's split EP is a six-track document of contrast, convergence, and uncompromising heavy music. Bringing together two distinct voices, the release explores the many shapes heaviness can take—stretching from crushing, slow-moving atmospheres to sharp, volatile bursts of aggression.
Formed by musicians with deep roots in the European underground, Norna approach heaviness as a vehicle for emotional gravity. Their sound is expansive and deliberate, built on massive low-end, tectonic rhythms, and an acute sense of restraint.
Legbiter approach heavy music as direct, confrontational, and unrelentingly physical. Rooted in hardcore and metal’s most ferocious intersections, the band thrives on immediacy and impact. Legbiter compress time, delivering short, explosive bursts that hit with the force of a live wire. Their sound is lean, aggressive, and unapologetically raw.
“Even though we sound very different sonically I think we all have a lot of common ground, not only in being parts of the 90’s scenes, but also musically in the somewhat dissonant and harsh guitar parts”, says Legbiter guitarist Rickard Nordström. “Personally, I love splits with bands that don't sound exactly the same, but share some common traits and vibes.”
“Contrast is everything, we have always tried to flow between despair and beauty. Dynamics are important to us. This split will give you that contrast”, comments Norna guitarist and vocalist and former Breach vocalist Tomas Liljedahl.
Norna work with discomfort and resonance until meaning begins to surface. Their sound is dense, immersive and moves with deliberate weight, unfolding gradually and allowing tension to accumulate over time. Guitars loom and resonate, drums seismic, and the overall pacing encourages full absorption. There is an understanding that heaviness is as much about space, patience, and emotional depth as it is about volume or distortion. Vocals in function as another textural layer. When they surface, they do so with intent: raw, human, and confrontational.
“These songs pretty much reflect what we do musically and sonically right now. Create as much destruction with as little means as possible, raw and true”, says Lijedahl.

“Long at the forefront of UK black metal Winterfylleth have quite rightly become one of the most revered extreme metal bands from these isles.” - Dayal Patterson, Cult Never Dies
“They elicit an aura of naturalistic vastness that’s worthy of Bathory.” – Metal Hammer
Napalm Records is proud to announce the signing of the UK’s black metal legends, Winterfylleth. To celebrate this new partnership, the band unveils a new album, The Unyielding Season, set for release on 27th March. Making a stand, Winterfylleth's ninth album is a social commentary wrapped in meticulously crafted poetry and prose. Where the preceding album, The Imperious Horizon (2024), described an ominous, malevolent force, lurking in the distance, The Unyielding Season now explores said threat becoming a reality. The raging wildfire to its predecessor’s calculating, icy cold, Winterfylleth’s first offering for their new record label is a reflection and a rebellion against the turmoils tearing individuals apart. It is a cry against the unsustainable weight of fear and pressure being pushed into the world, by the agents of an unresting, and unyielding force for evil.
The first glimpse into the infernal release is 'Heroes of a Hundred Fields'. Winterfylleth weave an epic story into a raging battle hymn, describing brave minds joining forces against a common oppressor to fight for their freedom.
Check out ‘Heroes of a Hundred Fields’ here: https://youtu.be/j1ZtI1Tg1Hs
Pre-order The Unyielding Season here: https://lnk.to/Winterfylleth-TheUnyieldingSeason/napalmrecords
Winterfylleth about 'Heroes of a Hundred Fields': "'Heroes of a Hundred Fields’ is framed in a wartime, battlefield setting and uses the premise of soldiers coming together, united as brothers, to fight against a foe who are powerful, oppressive, and domineering. It talks about how people should come together and fight for the freedoms they have and not succumb to those who would attack them and try to weaken them (or take them away entirely). There have been so many ideas and schemes pushed into the world over the last few years that only serve to erode people’s personal freedoms, slowly, little-by-little, until they are gone. This song talks about ‘lighting the beacons of rebellion’ against those who would seek to undermine the way of life and freedom that we all – hopefully – hold dear.”
Where our surroundings grow more challenging every day, Winterfylleth offers a pause for respite and resistance. The world is on fire, and The Unyielding Season is a warning.
Winterfylleth about The Unyielding Season:
“2026 marks a year of big changes for Winterfylleth! A new label, a new member, a new album, and the landmark of 20 years making music together. We are enthused by what this new chapter will bring, and as a result, we are now able to share our ninth album, The Unyielding Season, with the world. It is also a powerful and virulent first output, through which we seal our new collaboration with Napalm Records.
"In many ways, the new album is a reflection on – and a rebellion against – the turmoil’s and fears that are tearing the lives of many individuals apart. It is a cry against the unsustainable & constant weight of malevolence and pressure being pushed into the world by agents of an un-resting and unyielding force for evil. We hope the album resonates with you, stirs your soul, and gives you a source for hope. But, we also hope it makes you ask questions of your own circumstances and gives you pause to consider the unnerving state of the world we all share.”
'Heroes of a Hundred Fields' is the first revolt on their ten-song manifesto, describing brave minds joining forces against a common oppressor to fight for their freedom. The song unfolds in marvellous grandeur as chants of “Rebellions beacons now alight”, ring out against a tide of evil. With 'Echoes In The After', Winterfylleth deliver a striking epic: adapted from a poem by Sir Philip Sidney’s late 16th-century romance “The Countess Of Pembroke’s Arcadia”, the track was written as a reaction to the felling of the famous 'Robin Hood' tree at Sycamore Gap on Hadrian’s Wall, in the North East of the UK. The following track, 'A Hollow Existence', opens up with galloping drums and explodes into equally aggressive and atmospheric black metal fireworks.
The band’s trademark sound continues throughout 'Perdition’s Flame' into the album’s title track, a powerful observation of our world’s current situation and a voice for those silenced by its hostility. Atmospheric masters Winterfylleth then pause their rage, making room for 'Unspoken Elegy', an acoustic guitar-driven instrumental enriched by equally hopeful and menacing cello melodies, a hauntingly beautiful illustration of the dichotomy within The Unyielding Season. 'In Ashen Wake' takes up the perilous undertone, taking its time before unveiling itself as another highly melodic black metal saga. 'Toward Elysium' expands on that with a strong, old-school-inspired guitar riff, thrilling and catchy. Following another instrumental, the beautifully structured 'Where Dreams Once Grew', Winterfylleth end the album running order with a bonus track, a cover of fellow Brits Paradise Lost’s 'Enchantment', originally released as the opening track on their 1995 classic Draconian Times.
Winterfylleth will bring The Unyielding Season to the stage this April, touring the UK and Ireland alongside Blackbraid and Noctem.

POWERWOLF comment on Wildlive (Live at Olympiahalle): “We always knew that no words or short recap videos could truly capture what we experienced together during the Wolfsnächte 2024 tour. Every night was its own kind of magic – still, we wanted to find a way to hold on to those memories and share them in the most powerful way possible. That’s why we decided to record the full, massive, sold-out show at the Olympiahalle in Munich – to preserve just a piece of what we all felt on this tour. Wildlive (Live at Olympiahalle) is more than a live release. It’s a tribute and manifestation to the moments we created together.”
Just one day after the release of their spectacular new live album Wildlive (Live at Olympiahalle), POWERWOLF will raise the banners high once more and conquer Europe during their Wake Up The Wicked Tour, which includes their first show at the legendary OVO Arena Wembley for an exclusive United Kingdom show – a night destined to go down in metal history. Wildlive (Live at Olympiahalle) documents POWERWOLF’s unrelenting rise to the top, showcasing a performance that goes far beyond a metal concert. From a fire-breathing church organ and thunderous pyro spectacles to dark, operetta-like storytelling and rousing crowd interaction, this show is pure heavy metal theater at its finest. It will be available in multiple formats including Blu-Ray, DVD, CD and Vinyl as well as a Deluxe Boxset, Earbook, Mediabook, and several other Collector's Editions, featuring exclusive bonus content.
