Southern California punk-metal mainstays zebrahead have released new single 'Burn Burn Burn', the first glimpse of their forthcoming EP O. The track kicks off a new wave of music and visuals leading up to the EP’s release, completing the band’s run of EPs — III, II, I, and now O.

"'Burn, Burn, Burn' is straight energy from the jump,” shares vocalist/rapper Ali Tabatabaee. “It’s aggressive but still super melodic, and it’s got this bounce to it that just makes you want to move."

zebrahead have spent decades refining a high-impact blend of melody, metallic riffage, punk urgency, and hip-hop flow. 'Burn Burn Burn' captures the band at full throttle.

Drummer Ed Udhus states: "'Burn Burn Burn' is our version of Slayer and Taylor Swift doing Redbull vodka shots at the pool on Spring Break till 6AM."  Guitarist Dan Palmer adds: "'Burn, Burn, Burn' is a slammer of a song that kicks off the release of a new batch of songs! It’s heavy, melodic, and it has one of the shreddiest solos I’ve ever done! I’m really proud of this one and it’ll get the headbangers banging away!"

In addition to Tabatabaee, Palmer, and Udhus, zebrahead features vocalist/guitarist Adrian Estrella and bass player Ben Osmundson. Together, they continue to expand a legacy that began with the Yellow EP on Dr. Dream in 1998, followed by their major-label debut Waste of Mind on Columbia Records later that year. Subsequent releases including Playmate of the Year, MFZB, Broadcast to the World, Phoenix, Get Nice, Call Your Friends, and Walk the Plank solidified their international presence, while 2019’s Brain Invaders reaffirmed their staying power.

The stage remains their natural habitat with a resume that includes multiple appearances at major US and international festivals including Reading and Leeds Festivals, Download Festival, Rock am Ring, Summer Sonic, Fuji Rock Festival, Slam Dunk Festival, Pukkelpop, Nova Rock Festival, Vans Warped Tour, and When We Were Young. 

With O completing the EP arc with a steady rollout of new material underway, zebrahead aren’t revisiting their past they’re weaponising it. "As long as people come out to shows and listen, we will continue to tour the world and release music," says bassist Ben Osmundson.

EXODUS comment on new album Goliath: “Are we excited for this record? That’s an understatement. We put everything we had into this record (and it’s 80 percent complete follow up, but we’ll save that conversation for another day!) and it’s one of our proudest accomplishments. Wildly collaborative, the most band centric album to date with four songs written by Lee, lyrics by Gary, Rob, Lee and Tom, and just killer all the way around. Goliath wastes no time proving as massive as its name, with a sinister introduction opening '3111'. Ode to owning one’s own volatility 'Hostis Humani Generis' features a palpable lyrical delivery from Rob Dukes that cuts like crystal amid frenetic riffs, before rolling into 'The Changing Me'. The track’s introductory notes cascade into hair-raising rhythms, forming one of the band’s most anthemic offerings – blending menace and melody with the cleans of guest Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy, Pain) together with Tom Hunting and at the end both Peter and Robb scream off the song.

Harmonic dual axe acrobatics from resident guitar legends Gary Holt and Lee Altus. 'Promise You This' incites mosh pit treachery with explosive energy, cyclonic riffs and turbocharged soloing from Holt and Altus, prior to colossal title track 'Goliath' simmering the tempo down with winding, malevolent leads, towering drums and ominous string work from Katie Jacoby coupling with intricate guitars.

The album standout showcases the band’s ever-increasingly dynamic approach, even decades into their historic reign. Tracks like 'Beyond The Event Horizon' and '2 Minutes Hate' provide EXODUS’ trademark deadly dose of thrash theatricality – the latter boasting one of the album’s most grimacing, grooving pit primers – while undeniably 90s-tinged metallic charm attacks alongside drummer Tom Hunting and bassist Jack Gibson’s unmistakable rhythmic rage on tracks like 'Violence Works'.

The nearly eight-minute epic 'Summon Of The God Unknown' turns the danger dial to max capacity, setting the stage with a wicked introductory passage before traversing a variegated passage of trudging riffs and heavy metal melody. On the single the band comment: "In life you're told to be your 'authentic self', but only if your 'authentic self' fits a mould, only if you 'authentic self' is on brand. We're not hard enough but we're not soft enough, we're not queer enough but we're too queer, etc. We're okay with that; we know who we are and we know what we stand for. 'Business' is a love song."

On the album: "Business is everything. It's work, it's war, it's politics, it's our health. Business is angry and ugly, it's vulnerable and it speaks for all of us. I wanted to make an album that pins you to the wall from start to finish, and that's what Business does."

Against a hazy analogue backdrop, ambient guitars reverberate and echo through the sonic landscape, creating a sensation of weightlessness that is both calming and unsettling. Melancholic and soaring, ‘Black Sheep’ evokes a presence of isolation and longing in the emptiness. Through patient unfolding, this minimalist, poignant atmosphere raises in intensity, deliberate in its unhurried movement, leaving room for each sound to breathe, evolve, and fade into the next.

Amulets’ new album Rema(i)nders marks his debut on Pelagic Records, a fitting home for a record that thrives in the liminal space between heaviness and fragility. Deeply immersive, the album navigates the dreamy boundaries between the tangible and the ethereal, where sound behaves as memory itself: unstable, layered, and quietly transformative. 

Randall Taylor's work uses analog tape and its imperfections to explore themes like degradation and nostalgia and their relationship to technology and to the self. By constructing and modifying tape loops and repurposing antiquated cassette players, Taylor creates dense, never-ending, looping soundscapes for both his live performances and sculptural sound art installations.

Known for his ability to weave soundscapes that evoke powerful emotions with minimalistic instrumentation, Taylor’s newest project is a masterful exploration of mood, atmosphere, and texture.

Taylor commented: “Rema(i)nders started as a fragmented collection of songs, memories, ideas, and feelings that I wanted to mash and warp together beyond recognition. What I ended up creating was a beautiful mosaic of texture and light in this darkening world. To remain is to remind. To remind is to remain."

UK metal hellraisers HERIOT recently toured North America for the first time, supporting Trivium, with Jinjer.
