Equal Vision Records, Dine Alone Records, Rude Records and Sparta are excited to announce the release of Cut A Silhouette on 29th May, the forthcoming album from the celebrated El Paso, TX-based alt rock band. The trio have also unveiled new single / video 'Crater',  a song co-written with Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance, L.S. Dunes.)

Produced, engineered and recorded in seven days at Magpie Cage Recording Studio by the iconic J. Robbins, Cut A Silhouette is a collision of past and present. It builds off Sparta’s legacy but equally continues the evolution of a band that have never rested on their laurels. Written in hotel rooms, practice spaces, studios and soundchecks over the course of a year, Cut A Silhouette reveals frontman Jim Ward’s rediscovery of his love for music.

“This is a love record,” Ward happily declares. “I want it to leave an impression, and at this point in my career, that's what I yearn for. I'm working so hard to make something meaningful to me, and I really want people to get a chance to feel it as well.”

Additionally, Sparta will be making a number of appearances over the summer behind Cut A Silhouette, performing headline shows in Latin America, appearing at Sol Summit Festival, and supporting Jimmy Eat World and The Toadies separately in select markets across the U.S.

It all started with John Candy. Some 31 years after the comedian’s death, Jim Ward was watching a documentary about him, and in it Macaulay Culkin — who had starred in a number of films with the late actor — said something that really stuck with the musician. So much so, in fact, that, after months of pondering and overthinking what Sparta’s sixth full-length album would be named, Ward decided that those very words—“cut a silhouette”—should be the title.

He said that when he met John Candy, he just entered your brain and cut a silhouette,” says Ward. “Like, he just left an impression is the way I see it. And when I heard him say that, I was like ‘Oh! That’s what I want this record to be.’ I want it to leave an impression.”

Helmed by the legendary J. Robbins, Cut A Silhouette begins with the frantic, impassioned rush of 'Split Lip' before charging into the urgent insistence of 'Crater'. The latter song, along with 'Mouthbreather', which immediately follows it, were both written with Frank Iero, though the My Chemical Romance guitarist doesn’t play on them. 'See You Soon', a gorgeous, lilting explosion of slow-motion power-pop, was co-written with Kemble Walters (Chevelle, Juliette And The Licks). He does play on that song, as does Adrian Borgeois, who adds some tender piano to the melancholy equation. J. Robbins also features on a number of the songs, as does Brooks Harlan, who plays in Jawbox with Robbins, as well as in War On Women, while Carlos Arévalo from Chicano Batman plays guitar on the hopeful fragility of 'Midnights'.

The result is pure, unadulterated Sparta. These days completed by bassist Matt Miller and drummer Neil Hennessy, the band have made a record that’s a culmination of the perfectly imperfect chemistry that flows between the three of them. The only thing on this record that shines as much as that chemistry between the trio is the community spirit that helped create it.

While you might expect 2022’s self-titled album to have been the one to bring Sparta home — after all, self-titled records are often made with that intention — that’s actually the role Ward has given Cut A Silhouette. But he admits that the previous record — one he says felt like it was made from disparate parts being brought together — was a necessary process to go through for this one to exist. “This feels like we're a fucking band again,” Ward says. “All three of us are in a room, we're all writing together, we're listening to each other; this is now a constructive creative process, and it's now the end of this era. Like, I made it through.”

Thrashers NERVOSA release menacing new single 'Impending Doom'

Metal heroines NERVOSA have unleashed their new single, 'Impending Doom' - the opening track to their upcoming album, Slave Machine (Friday 3rd April, Napalm Records).

'Impending Doom' builds up menacingly, using thunderous riffs and speedy drums to share sinister social observations and establish the women’s dominance in the scene. Produced by Martin Furia of German thrash legends DESTRUCTION, 'Impending Doom' blends old-school power with a modern twist, showcasing NERVOSA’s view into the future.

NERVOSA about 'Impending Doom': “Dark vibes with epic sensation, a very powerful song to introduce our new album, which marks a big step in our career.”

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/H3vgFPNHFcI

NERVOSA unleash another round of fury on their new album, Slave Machine, out 3rd April via Napalm Records. Their sixth album shows the Brazilian modern thrash metal band releasing their inner beasts at staggering speed and with formidable emphasis. Having performed at the biggest metal festivals worldwide, from Wacken to Hellfest, and making a lasting impression on fans and critics alike, NERVOSA aims to consolidate their standing as genre frontrunners. With founding guitarist Prika Amaral established as their new singer with their previous record, Jailbreak (2023), they tear through the scene with the force of a sledgehammer.

NERVOSA erupt as a metal volcano with their latest record. Never settling, always exploring, one staggering riff after another, Slave Machine is a crushing statement - it comes, sees, and conquers.

NERVOSA comment on Slave Machine: Slave Machine is the most brutal and melodic album of NERVOSA, and we are proud to take this step further, keeping our roots.”

Twelve new songs show the five-piece exploring their crushing style in an enhanced way. Opener 'Impending Doom' builds up menacingly, using thunderous riffs and jagged drums to establish NERVOSA’s dominance in the scene.

The title track, 'Slave Machine', instantly turns up the speed and adds a surprising alternative bridge to the already catchy chorus, showing a slightly different side of the metal powerhouses. The following 'Ghost Notes' unleashes a storm of heavy, yet easily recognisable riffs, driven by impelling drums and the ever-so-furious vocals of Prika Amaral, crowned by an astounding guitar solo.

Through 'Beast Of Burden', NERVOSA shows their harshest side, while 'You Are Not A Hero' offers a grand chorus, gifting Slave Machine a true anthem. 'Hate' unfolds with raw brutality, and 'The New Empire' looks for destruction with melodic precision.'30 Seconds' rises up to new heights, while 'Crawl For Your Pride' combines NERVOSA’s trademark social criticism with gut-punching songwriting.

Throughout 'Learn Or Repeat' and 'The Call', the band once again sprinkles in some pieces of modern groove with old-school vibes before Slave Machine rears up one final time on the threateningly sinister 'Speak In Fire'.

PLUME make label debut with single 'Furious Icon'

There’s a certain kind of momentum you don’t fake — and right now, PLUME are moving like a band that’s already outgrown the room.

With their new single 'Furious Icon', the rising emo force sharpen their edges and lean further into the tension that’s been building across their previous releases. Where earlier tracks hinted at their range, this one locks in — urgent, restless, and wired with the kind of energy that feels one step away from spiraling out.

Watch here: https://youtu.be/bqZyn-3J7W8

Stream here: https://arisingempire.com/plume

PLUME’s recent singles didn’t just introduce them; they established a pattern. Each drop pushed a little further, sonically and visually, pulling more people into their orbit without ever feeling calculated. That same instinct carries through 'Furious Icon' — controlled chaos with intent behind it.

There’s no attempt here to smooth things out or play it safe. The track thrives on contrast: jagged and melodic, immediate but layered enough to keep revealing new details on repeat listens. It’s the sound of a band figuring out exactly how far they can push their identity — and then going past it anyway.

If the earlier singles were the signal, 'Furious Icon' is the confirmation. PLUME aren’t arriving quietly — and they’re definitely not slowing down.

Telepathy reveal new single 'Home (Redux)' featuring Jo Quail

Cinematic post-metal quartet Telepathy have unveiled their new single 'Home (Redux)' featuring acclaimed cellist Jo Quail.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/mEIN5-rHUzo

Stream here: https://orcd.co/telepathy-transmissions-20

The single is taken from the band's EP Transmissions 2.0, a reworking of the band's lauded 2025 album Transmissions (Pelagic Records).

As the band comment: "With Transmissions we added a heap of synthesisers, cinematic and electronic textures to our sound - so when approaching this EP, it felt natural to give some tracks to artists that could expand on this part of our sound."

Rather than basic remixes, each guest artist was invited to reconstruct the track entirely. Sitting at the centre of the EP is 'Home (Redux)', with Jo Quail.

The band state: "We first discovered Jo’s music at Dunk Festival in 2018. We were literally stopped in our tracks but her performance. Her music (at least to us) feels both organic and futuristic, cello meets live looping - so conceptually as we re-imagined our full band music into a more electronic space we felt she was the natural collaborator."

Progressive metal / electronic band Playgrounded release new single 'Counting Embers'

Multinational progressive metal / electronic band Playgrounded return with their new single 'Counting Embers', their first new music in four years.

Stream here: https://orcd.co/playgrounded

Watch the visualiser here: https://youtu.be/1PnQQfqWFCA

'Counting Embers' is a statement track, announcing itself explosively. Pulsing synth sequences, distorted digital tones, and modular arpeggiations lend a futuristic edge that contrasts the organic weight of live instrumentation: thick bass tones, angular guitar chords, and drums that can move from restrained pulse to relentless propulsion. Vocals float in highly charged introspection, serving understated, but haunting melodies. Through gradual transformation, the landscape unfolds in a meticulously constructed yet emotionally resonant narrative of tension and grief.

The band comment: “Today we share new music with you for the first time in a while. A song about the fires of this world and how painfully familiar they have become. Always aware that ashes can bloom.”

Playgrounded are a rock band based in the Netherlands and Greece. Alternative metal and contemporary electronic elements form a genre-defying sound, comparable to artists as diverse as Deftones, Massive Attack, Karnivool, and The Ocean.

A band together for over a decade, Playgrounded have in their time supported Riverside, Anathema, and Nine Inch Nails. Their 2022 record The death of Death (Pelagic Records) was globally lauded, with praise from Prog, Eclipsed, Metal Injection, Metal Hammer Germany and more.

Following its release the band presented the album to packed venues in their home countries and embarked on a 36 date UK/EU tour with The Ocean and LLNN, and then festival performances at ArcTanGent, Euroblast, RADAR, and more.

'Counting Embers' is the first glimpse of Playgrounded's new album, due later this year - where the band promise to push the boundaries of their truly innovative approach to heavy music even further.

Plini announces new album 'An Unnameable Desire' and releases video for title track

In 2026, a stunning new chapter for Plini will arrive, with the prolific Australian guitarist, composer and producer today announcing the release of a brand new album An Unnameable Desire, set for release on Friday 24th April.

Across the space of 10 tracks, An Unnameable Desire blends staggering intricacy with moments of surging heaviness and billowing bliss, catapulting Plini's expansive dexterity and sonic diversity into even greater new heights.

Accompanying the announcement of his new album today, Plini has also unveiled the album's title track along with a charismatic music video. But, as Plini reveals, all may not be as it seems as we venture further down the rabbit hole for album #3.

"I picked this as the first single because it sets the tone/sound of the album without really giving anything away," shares Plini. "I'm known as a guitarist, but this song doesn't even really contain a guitar "solo". Much like the video, it's the whimsical first chapter of an adventure, and hopefully gives a false sense of security for what's to come."

Watch the video for 'An Unnameable Desire' here: https://youtu.be/WxMtUEWNDBc

Mixed by Simon Grove and mastered by Adam "Nolly" GetgoodAn Unnameable Desire finds Plini joining forces with a horde of creative talent, with magic woven alongside Simon Grove (bass, auxiliary guitar, mixing, engineering and co-production), Chris Allison (drums percussion, additional drum engineering and co-production), Dave Mckay (piano, keyboards and synthesizers), A.J. Minette (string arrangement and production), Misha Vayman (violin) and Yoshi Masuda (cello), with additional production on 'Ciel' courtesy of Devesh Dayal, a guitar solo on 'Ciel' by Jakub Zytecki and harp on 'After Everything' by Emily Hopkins. Album artwork is designed by Patti Bai.

"Something I'm very happy about, after many years of making music and the "career" aspect of it becoming a whole lot more serious, is that the process hasn't changed - still just me sitting in a room, tinkering on a guitar until I come across an interesting idea, and then following it down various rabbit holes until it starts feeling like a song," shares Plini of his upcoming new album.

"The intention with this album," adds Plini"was to let that side of the process be as playful as possible, and then when it came to executing these ideas as finished songs, trying to expand the music in every direction possible: the heavier parts should be heavier, the pretty parts should be prettier, the hard-to-play stuff should be harder to play... and also in being as thoughtful and intricate as possible in relating the songs to each other through various themes and references. I hope it's as enjoyable to listen to as it was to make!"

Renowned for delivering mind-bending musicality from all angles, Plini has previously released two full-length albums, 2016's Handmade Cities and 2020's Impulse Voices, alongside several EPs, singles and contributing credits along the way.

Nominated for Live Guitarist of the Year in 2018 at the National Live Music Awards, Plini has also previously toured alongside Sleep TokenPeriphery and Tesseract, and will embark on a huge world tour in 2026, commencing in Europe in late April.

Modern metal sensation Dominum reveal new single 'The Circus Is In Town'

Modern metal sensation Dominum today reveal the first taste of their upcoming album Night Is Calling, set for release on 3rd July via Napalm Records.

The rising stars of modern metal offer up 'The Circus Is In Town' - serving as both the lead single and the album opener, lifting the curtain on the thrilling and mad world of Dr. Dead’s band’s third offering.

Following their previous album The Dead Don’t Die (2024), which stormed into the top 10 of the German charts, 'The Circus Is in Town' delivers once again with infectious riffs and catchy choruses. Dominum capture this gripping atmosphere in a spectacular music video - no one can escape this dark circus.

Dr. Dead comments on the new single: "The Circus Is in Town. There’s no point in looking away. We’re coming—city by city. Unstoppable. Real people. Real monsters. Real nights. You’re part of it. Join us. Night Is Calling."

Dominum, led by mastermind and singer Felix Heldt—better known as Dr. Dead—open the next chapter of their dark, theatrical universe with their new full-length Night Is Calling. With their bombastic sound and outstanding stage presence, the band continues its rapid ascent on the international metal scene, without losing sight of its strengths: theatrical, melodic, and uncompromising modern metal—driven by the dark charisma of Dr. Dead and his zombies. One thing is certain: the Living Dead Squad continues to grow.

Dr. Dead on Night Is Calling:

"'They grow up so fast.' – Ugh. It makes me sick. And now I feel it myself: my zombies have grown up. Our creation… has grown up too.

"But unlike the pitiful rest, we don’t mourn our childhood. No. We revel in who we are. Being a child, being an adult – what does that even mean? Anyway – the world lies at our feet, and we can do whatever we damn well please.

"Believe me from firsthand experience: an army of zombies makes everything a hell of a lot easier… and way more fun with every bit of trouble getting the punch it deserves. We have the power to reshape our world. And oh, we do.

"Night Is Calling - this is our outlet.

"Stronger melodies, heavier riffs, sharper, unflinching lyrics – honesty as our deadliest weapon. We are who we are. And you… you’re in this whether you like it or not. The undead are on the march, more relentless than ever. Join us – immediately, willingly… or a little later when we come to your neighborhood. Either way… we’ll be seeing you."

Dominum will be touring the UK in December.

Dates:

08.12.26 UK – Manchester / O2 Ritz
09.12.26 UK – Bristol / Bristol Electric
10.12.26 UK – London / Electric Brixton

Led by Dr. Dead (vocals) and his Zombies – Tommy Kemp (guitars), Patient 0 (bass), and Victor Hilltop (drums) – Dominum have already taken their undead spectacle to major stages across Europe. Touring alongside icons such as Bruce Dickinson, Avantasia, Battle Beast and Peyton Parrish, the band has proven its strength both at major festivals and during their own headline shows.

Produced by Felix Heldt and mixed by renowned producer Jacob Hansen, Night Is Calling expands the band’s sonic universe with even heavier riffs, bigger choruses and cinematic drama. The explosive opener 'The Circus Is In Town' throws listeners straight into Dominum’s twisted carnival, while infectious anthems such as 'Doctor Doctor' and 'Dark Melodies' deliver massive hooks destined to echo across festival crowds. The powerful title track 'Night is Calling' (feat. Battle Beast) further highlights the band’s growing presence on the international metal stage.

Classic King Diamond line-up launch new band Lex Legion

Lex Legion are a brand new band comprised of old friends with incredible heavy metal pedigree. Comprising of four-fifths of the classic late 1980s King Diamond line-up – drummer Mikkey Dee, guitarists Pete Blakk and Andy La Rocque, and bassist Hal Patino – the group is infused with the jaw-dropping vocals of Nils K. Rue (Pagan's Mind). And let's not overlook that their members also boast Motörhead, Scorpions, and Death on their collective resume.

Lex Legion have also announced their self-titled debut album, set to be released on on 12th June via MNRK Heavy, and unveiled their ebut single 'Sleep Eternally'.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/8QhmkfLI1bA

Pre-order the album here: https://lexlegion.ffm.to/lexlegion-album

Lex Legion's eponymous debut album is a single-minded, future-facing throwback of world class hard rock/metal distinguished by tasteful, less-is-more arrangements, virtuoso musicianship, and relentless melody and harmony.

"Lex Legion is totally written the way we thought in the '80s," said Mikkey Dee. "We wrote what we wanted, and if you liked it, that was a great bonus. If you didn't like it, that was fine with us, too!"

Watch the  band members introduce themselves and talk about this exciting next chapter as Lex Legion:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4O6PzmCqJ4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDo8rONU2GY

Lex Legion were formed by Blakk and Dee, and completed by Patino, alongside La Rocque (a King Diamond constant since 1985, who also played on Death's seminal Individual Thought Patterns), and finally, Rue.

This is music for hard rock/metal fans, but also with a freshness and sense of excitement that only a debut album can capture. Lex Legion's members find themselves more musically accomplished than ever before, but now free of the egos of youth; and with friendship that comes with careers spanning more than forty years.

Despite their impressive resumes (Dee is also a Grammy winner and both La Rocque and Hal Patino are nominees) and busy individual schedules, Lex Legion is a serious passion project that's been gestating for a quarter century, until the time was right.

Lex Legion's self-titled debut will be released by MNRK Music Group in June of 2026, with possible touring beginning the following year. And the band state their case within the first few seconds of its album opener and first single 'Sleep Eternally.'

"It has elements of everything on the album," said La Rocque. "The right tempo and the right kind of vocals, starting out like a fist in your face!"

Rue's soaring pipes and ominous harmonies are framed by Dee's unmistakable powerhouse drumming, imaginative leads from both guitarists, Patino's melodic basslines, and shifts of pace and tempo that will satiate fans of more progressive sub genres.

"This is totally unique. No one is writing this kind of music and there's a big hole for us to fill," Blakk concluded. "Welcome to our new journey of friendship and hard rock!"

Swedish post-rock duo Oh Hiroshima announce new album 'And the Dead Tree Gives No Shelter'

Photo Credit: Ellen Hemström and Oskar Nilsson

Swedish post-rock duo Oh Hiroshima return with their latest album And the Dead Tree Gives No Shelter, arriving 5th June via Pelagic Records. Once again emerging from Scandinavia’s rich atmospheric landscape, the record sharpens their signature balance of restraint and release, where shimmering guitars and slow-building intensity rise into cathartic peaks. Rooted in existential reflection and modern disillusionment, And the Dead Tree Gives No Shelter navigates the space between despair and meaning with a quiet defiance. Alongside the announcement, the band unveil first single ‘Broken Sunlight’, offering an initial glimpse into the album’s immersive, emotionally resonant world.

Watch the video for 'Broken Sunlight' here: https://youtu.be/ArJPgAQAkXg

Pre-order And the Dead Tree Gives No Shelter here: https://orcd.co/ohhiroshima-atdtgns

The band comment on the new single: "With 'Broken Sunlight' we wanted something that hits you directly, with rhythm and melody tightly interwoven. It’s about holding onto something fragile, a shard of hope in a reality that feels increasingly fractured."

Oh Hiroshima have built a reputation for transforming introspection into vast, cinematic sound. The Swedish band has spent the better part of the last decade refining a musical language that balances fragility with overwhelming emotional force. Their music exists in the space where atmosphere, melody and gradual intensity converge, where hushed textures evolve patiently into towering waves of sound. With each release, the group has deepened their identity as one of the genre’s most evocative and emotionally resonant voices.

And the Dead Tree Gives No Shelter continues Oh Hiroshima’s pursuit to refine the balance between vulnerability and power. At the core of their sound lies a delicate interplay between restraint and release. Their compositions carefully cultivate tension, letting each layer unfold organically: chiming guitars, distant reverberations, and minimal rhythmic pulses that feel suspended in air, all contrast against the heavily drenched power they can unleash. Whether the passage be titanic or still, Oh Hiroshima establish a sense of openness and emotional ambiguity, allowing listeners to settle into the sonic landscape as the music works its slow ascent.

Commenting on the album, the band state: “The album title And the Dead Tree Gives No Shelter is taken from T. S. Eliot’s epic poem The Waste Land. For this album, the dead tree works as a metaphor for ways of living that drain the world of meaning and offer no real way of navigating the hardships of life. We are living in a time when it has become harder and harder to imagine a bright future. This leaves many of us with a deep sense of hopelessness that easily breeds cynicism and apathy. In that state it becomes easy to shut the world out and give up any attempts at meaningful interaction with the world around us. A destructive cycle follows, as this leaves us with no way of sheltering ourselves from our initial despair at the state of things. But these songs also aim to paint something meaningful and hopeful. A form of idealisation not rooted in naivety but in realism, because we need ideals to gather enough strength to leave the shelterless dead trees of our lives behind.”

Oh Hiroshima consistently demonstrate a growing confidence in exploring the edges of their sound. Backed by special guests, a whole array of instrumentation and a growing pallet for wider experimentation, And the Dead Tree Gives No Shelter evokes Oh Hiroshima’s unique emotional landscape, each composition a relentlessly captivating journey that inspires reflection and release. Every motif, choice and touch contribute to the shifting terrains that gradually unfold into luminous intensity. By blending harmonics, immersive production and a deeply intuitive sense of pacing, Oh Hiroshima have crafted an album that is woven with intimacy and expansively felt.

“We tracked the foundation of the record (drums, bass and electric guitars) at Studio Gröndahl with Karl Daniel Lidén (Swarm of the Sun), who has worked with many really good bands before, he took great care in the drum setup and recording, and we’re especially happy with how that turned out, adds vocalist Jakob Hemström. The rest of the album was recorded in Örebro by me and my brother, with a little help from some friends of the band. Production-wise this is our most ambitious record by far because of the number of instruments and musicians that contributed. Ten additional musicians were involved this time around. Magnus Lindberg mixed and mastered the album. It’s the third time in a row. He’s great to work with, has a great résumé, and always delivers quality work.”
