‘Jaded Mantra’ is a tale of spiritual rebirth and the acceptance of the shadow self as sacred. Speaking about the new single, Prince Of Failure shared “The closing song - a mantra of resignation and rebirth. This is the point of full acceptance: the Prince and I become one. The old self dies so that the integrated self may live.”

The duo will release their new album Prince of Failure on 19th June via KScope.

Prince of Failure marks a significant shift in Daniel Tompkins’ creative world. Written and developed over several years with Paul Ortiz, the album traces a long internal process rather than a single moment of inspiration. The material reflects on neurodivergence, masking, and the psychological weight of living out of alignment with expectation - themes that shape both the narrative and the sound of the record.

Musically, the album develops the atmosphere of Daniel Tompkins’ earlier solo work into darker, more reflective territory. Paul’s spacious arrangements, electronic textures and powerful guitar work sit alongside intimate, close-mic vocals, creating a strong sense of immediacy without sacrificing the dynamic scope associated with Tompkins’ progressive background and work with TesseracT. The pacing is restrained and deliberate with interludes and recurring motifs reinforcing the feeling of a continuous psychological arc.

The decision to release the record under the name Prince of Failure reflects the collaborative identity of the project and separates it from Tompkins’ previous roles. It allows the work to exist on its own terms, without reference to past expectations. The Prince of Failure now stands as an official creative partnership between Tompkins and Ortiz, a shared vision with long-term intent.

Lost In Kyiv comment: "We're All Going To Be Fine explores the tension between hope and inner collapse, and how modern life can disconnect us from ourselves and each other. The songs were inspired by personal experiences, societal pressure, and the idea that we often become our own worst enemy. We were also inspired by the work of Carl Gustav Jung (who is the voice at the end of the album), especially his ideas about exploring the human psyche, as well as themes from movies like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or Melancholia."

Lost in Kyiv’s music has always thrived on tension between the organic and the synthetic. On We’re All Going To Be Fine, that integration reaches a new level of clarity and depth. The writing and production process was long and exacting, allowing the band to refine every transition and tonal detail. Songs unfold with architectural precision, motifs are introduced subtly before expanding into vast, multi-layered climaxes. Dynamics are handled with patience and control, silence and minimalism are deployed as strategically as explosive crescendos. This careful pacing gives the album a cinematic flow and larger narrative in which struggle and compassion coexist.

Guitars surge and recede in wide, panoramic arcs. At moments they shimmer and support, at others they thrash violently, accumulating layers of distortion and harmonic overtones. Acoustic instrumentation is interwoven with sequenced synth lines, pulsing arpeggiators, and carefully sculpted electronic textures that give the band’s sound a sense of forward propulsion. 
 
Lost in Kyiv continue: “We always wanted to write music around strong themes, and for the first time, we decided to focus on something more internal than on previous albums. Our last four albums, except maybe Nuit Noire, were more about broader and more general themes. This time, we wanted to explore the fragility of mental health and the human psyche, the relation we have with ourself.”

Air Drawn Dagger comment on the single: “This song was forged in a cabin in the German mountains in the brief space between tour dates. It came from a period of exhaustion, closeness, and reflection, where everything felt heightened and exposed.

"Sonically, the track feels polarising yet consistent. We built it around contrast rather than compromise, pairing a 'campfire' style chorus that feels almost communal, with the heaviest and most chaotic moments we have ever put into a song. The aim was to let those extremes exist side by side.

"'Me & My Friends (We’re Trying Asbestos We Can)' is three minutes of melodic anguish that reflects where we were mentally and creatively. It captures the push and pull between connection and burnout, warmth and violence, clarity and noise. It documents a band in motion, writing in real time, and allowing the chaos of this period to shape the song rather than fighting against it.“

Post metal quartet Telepathy release their interpretation of Noiseboy's 'To Breathe in Chaos' today. It's part of their upcoming EP Transmissions 2.0 out 12th June focusing on remixes and covers - a reworking of the band's lauded 2025 album Transmissions (Pelagic Records).

In the recording process of their new EP they exchanged songs with industrial/noise artist Noiseboy, who reworked Telepathy's 'Knife Edge Effect', while Telepathy showcase today their interpretation of 'Breathe in Chaos'.

Telepathy comment:
"Transmissions 2.0 was born from a single premise: What would happen, if we applied the institution of remix culture found in electronic music to the instrumental rock world? With Transmissions we added a heap of synthesisers, cinematic and electronic textures to our sound - so when approaching this EP, it felt natural to give some tracks to artists that could expand on this part of our sound. Rather than basic remixes the artists were invited to reconstruct the tracks entirely."

Boston post-metal band, Junius, will release their new LP, Sotera, on 26th June via Prosthetic Records. Sotera is Junius’ first full-length LP in nearly a decade, following 2017’s Eternal Rituals for the Accretion of Light, a recording that Rolling Stone noted “takes the band’s alternately soaring and crashing sound to even more diverse places.” Produced by Junius vocalist/guitarist, Joseph E. Martinez and Tom Syrowski (Blackberry Smoke, Mastodon), Sotera, in Martinez’s words, “feels like a rebirth for the band” and “is an act of devotion as much as it is a piece of music.”

"The Oracle deals with judgment, not moral judgment, but truth," shares Martinez. "The Oracle watches from up high, seeing civilization get corrupted and drift further away from her. The video is important because we rarely foreground ourselves visually. After some time away, physically reappearing felt appropriate."

Harmonising bright transcendence, heightened consciousness, coiled ear-worming, and emotional swell in like degree, Sotera's’ ambient shoegaze metal is expansive and deep, best experienced unhurriedly. Call it sound as relief and release; intense undercurrents of magnetic volume attached to an almost symphonic use of motion. Fully realised music as exhilarating as it is ghostly. Whereas earlier Junius records wrestled with cataclysms, escaping Samsara and what might come after death, Sotera shifts the focus toward something more immediate: restoring balance through the worship of the divine feminine.

“The word Sotera is the feminine form of saviour or protector in Greek, and it perfectly captured what the album was circling around," offers Martinez. “This album is a musical invocation that explores the divine feminine as a force of transformation and balance. Medea stands at the threshold. In Sotera we’re calling upon Hekate, her mother, to guide us in her resurrection. The Oracle as a loving but ignored prophet. Lucifera appears as the punished light-bringer. The Initiatrix is the one who begins the rite.”

Try to stick just one label, descriptor, or adjective on Junius and it won’t hold - they resist it entirely. For over twenty years, the Boston-based five-piece has moved fluidly between extremes: shouts and hushes, grit and sheen, crushing intensity and hypnotic restraint. In the process, they keep stretching and reshaping the only genre that can loosely contain them - metal - pushing past its edges. That approach often means stepping away from metal’s typical barrage of down-tuned riffs in favour of a wider palette of textures, detours, and emotional tones.

“Mythic, atmospheric, melodic post-metal?” surmises Martinez when pressed to sum up Junius’ sound. “Over the years we’ve been labelled post-punk, post-rock, and now post-metal, in that order. We’ve never really cared too much about the label, but post-metal seems to be the one people have settled on for us. We see it as heavy music that prioritises movement and melody over aggression for its own sake. What we’ve always tried to do is balance weight with emotional lift. The heaviness creates the gravity, but the melody is what carries you into the ether."

Indecent Behavior singer Henrik Bergmann comments on the new single: "Every day we are told that we need more. More possessions, more status, more impact. We are expected to show what we have so that others believe we are someone. But what is left of a person when they live only to meet other people’s expectations? While money disappears for nothing, people buy things they never wanted in the first place. Not because they need them. Not because they love them. But simply to impress. To belong. To survive in a world that confuses value with effect and replaces personality with consumption. And all of this happens because society teaches us that recognition matters more than honesty. That you have to drive when you could walk. That you have to own when you could do without. That you have to keep up, even when you have already lost yourself in the process. 'Land Of Eagerness' is a song about exactly that emptiness. About people sacrificing their money, their convictions, and eventually themselves, just to live up to an image that was never truly theirs. About a world full of pressure, full of rules, full of false promises. About a society that keeps telling us to have more while leaving us feeling less and less. French progressive technical death metal force Gorod have announced their long-awaited new album The Ember Gone, due for release on 28th August via Base Productions and Season of Mist. Alongside the announcement, the band have also confirmed a European tour this September with Allegaeon.

Entirely self-produced at Bud Studio by guitarist and principal songwriter Mathieu Pascal, before being mixed and mastered by David Thiers at Secret Place Studio, The Ember Gone marks a bold return to the progressive spirit of Transcendence (2011) while pushing Gorod into expansive new territory. Held across five stages in the heart of Liverpool, the no barrier No Play 2026 is one not to miss. Highlights include stage five, the Guillotine Stage held in the Jacaranda Basement - a stage which takes its name from No Play's monthly local showcase. A variety of homegrown talent, discovered through the Guillotine Sessions, will be performing on this stage throughout the day.

Stage four, the Best Life Records Stage, at Kazimier Stockroom, will be a takeover from Liverpool's Best Life Records, showcasing their roster alongside upcoming UK talent. 

No Play founder Ted MacDonald comments: “We’re pretty excited about the new stage setup this year! No barriers all day is something we’ve wanted to do since we started, it’s how this music is meant be experienced. The fest has really grown over the last few years and to have the two biggest stages in Arts Club running back to back as well - it’s gonna go off!”

Now in its fourth year, No Play Festival is fast becoming one of the best-kept secrets in the UK heavy calendar. Previous iterations of the festival have included Glare, Higher Power, Vukovi, Guilt Trip, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Heriot, and Split Chain - a raucously fun DIY event that puts Liverpool on the map.

The team behind No Play have been working as a collective in the Liverpool scene for over a decade. No Play Festival is a proudly independent, affordable metro-fest, that aims to showcase local talent alongside rising acts and acclaimed artists, both UK and international.
