Australian breakthrough heavy act Future Static return with their huge new single 'Ornaments & Memories'.

On the single, vocalist Amariah Cook comments: “I wrote the lyrics to 'Ornaments & Memories' as if writing a letter to myself to listen back to when I start to lose track of what is important. A reminder to be more present, and to take each step based on what will create the most positive impact.”

'Ornaments & Memories' is an emotionally charged reminder of how fleeting life is, an auditory arc of a flood, building from a slow crescendo into a climactic drop that falls away until nothing but a whisper remains. Lyrically grounded in Stoicism and the concept of Memento Mori, the song was written for those who find themselves dissociating from what matters, and intended to inspire deep thought followed by imminent action.

Melbourne five-piece phenomenon Future Static are carving their position among the one of the most exciting forces in modern metalcore. Following the success of their #1 Australian AIR-charting debut album Liminality (2023), the band have rapidly risen through Australia’s heavy scene and beyond, earning critical acclaim from Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, and Triple J, whilst touring extensively across Australia; including supporting Babymetal, Electric Callboy, Jinjer, Enter Shikari, Don Broco, Lacuna Coil and TesseracT. International touring has included EU/UK headline shows, supporting Ankor and Humanity’s Last Breath, and multiple prestigious European festival appearances; including Sziget (HU), Radar (UK), Reeperbahn (DE) and Euroblast (DE).

Blending technical precision with melodic chaos, Future Static's sound is both striking and emotionally raw - a reflection of personal struggle, resilience, and self-discovery. Led by their breathtaking lead vocal tandem, a magical chemistry of electrifying front-woman Amariah Cook and bassist Kira Neil, and backed by guitarists Ryan Qualizza and Jack Smith, and drummer Jackson Trudel’s intense musicality and blazing fury, Future Static have taken Australia’s live circuit by storm.

IGNEA release haunting second single 'Darkness'

Ukrainian modern metal band IGNEA further open the doors to their forthcoming album, Monumental, out 23rd October via Napalm Records, with their second single, 'Darkness'. The song sets the emotional foundation for the album, which is set around the concept of nostalgia.

'Darkness' explores finding comfort in memories even if they reveal cracks. Native to Kyiv, IGNEA have their own fair share of those, so the new song inevitably takes a bittersweet turn. Shifting between eerie, melancholic verses and grandiose, uplifting choruses before crescendoing into a live choir set against raw blast beats, the new song mirrors the emotional swing of yearning itself, the drift into shadow followed by sudden bursts of longing.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/DGQfpAnp4Fk

Pre-order Monumental here: https://lnk.to/Ignea-Monumental/napalmrecords

'Darkness' is paired with a music video shot in Ukraine’s capital city. The walk through Kyiv reflects another central theme of the album, passing modernist buildings that symbolise a future that never arrived. Part of the video was filmed at the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, a location of particular symbolic importance for an album rooted in urban nostalgia. Its halls still carry the energy of generations of students who trained there to build the very structures the video now quietly mourns.

With the very buildings that once held only innocent memories of the band's upbringing now being destroyed by war, the imagery takes on an even more poignant meaning. It's no longer simply a longing for the past, but grief for a world that is disappearing in real time. In a cruel twist of fate, IGNEA filmed the video for 'Darkness' amid the literal darkness left by one of the largest missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, which struck the city the night before filming began.

Vocalist Helle Bohdanova comments: “'Darkness’ is about the rides we take into nostalgia when the present gets too heavy and how bittersweet it is to realise you can never actually go back. As all IGNEA members are from Kyiv, we wanted to make a nostalgic ode to our city, walking through its memory, the same modernist buildings that once promised a future, the subway stations, the same streets that hold our childhoods, our first kisses, people we’ve lost.

"The war, in its turn, adds its own layer of darker nostalgia, watching those buildings burn in real time and it heavily affected both days of filming. On the first day, one of the worst missile attacks on Kyiv hit the night before, we hadn’t slept at all, running on nothing but adrenaline and the city was still on fire as we drove to the location. On the second, we filmed through the city with sirens and drones overhead.

"Considering this, we’re living in literal darkness, longing for the peaceful, trouble-free days… Can we ever get back?”

Echoing nostalgia for a future that never arrives on Monumental.

Monumental is IGNEA’s second full-length album that was written during the full-scale war in Ukraine. The recording process mostly took place in the winter of 2025-2026, during icy temperatures and long power outages in Kyiv.

Helle Bohdanova comments about Monumental: “Back in the 17th century, nostalgia was considered a deadly disease - and in many ways, it still is. It’s a universal feeling experienced by every human being, pulling us toward a past that felt gentler than it truly was, especially during the bitter moments of the present. Much of this album was inspired by modernist architecture - concrete giants built to signal progress and a brighter future, now slowly decaying. They've become a sort of memory box: monuments to unrealised dreams, where the future that was once imagined never arrived, yet continues to echo through the ruins and bright mosaics.”

On Monumental, IGNEA takes the listener on nostalgic rides, with all their ups and downs, expressed in music and lyrics, carrying a sense of gentle sadness and reflection, as nostalgia can bring back beautiful memories, darkened by the awareness that these moments will never happen again.

Following Dreams of Lands Unseen (2023), the band navigates through unique facets of the past across nine tracks - from the grandeur and ambition of Cold War space dreams to the melancholy of urban decay and forgotten modernist structures, all the way to the emotional weight of personal and collective memory. All lyrics on Monumental were written by vocalist Helle Bohdanova. The music was composed by keyboardist Yevhenii Zhytniuk, with additional contributions from Helle Bohdanova. Mixing and mastering were handled by Grammy Award-nominated producer Jacob Hansen, known for his work with bands such as DELAIN, Amaranthe, Volbeat, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, and Epica.

Following appearances at some of the biggest festivals this summer, including Wacken, Mystic Festival and Jera On Air, Allt embark on a European headlining tour in November/December.

UK headline dates with special guests Avralize, Bite Down:

Nov 7 - Nottingham (UK) - The Rescue Rooms
Nov 8 - London (UK) - The Garage

Formed in 2020 in Karlskoga, Sweden, Allt are known for their audiovisual storytelling and innovative approach to metalcore. The name Allt, meaning "everything" in Swedish, reflects the band's philosophy: never to be confined within genre boundaries, continually delivering conceptually rich compositions inspired by the world around them and the stories and myths told through the ages.

Following the release of their critically acclaimed debut album From The New World in 2024, a record exploring societal collapse, survival, and humanity through a fictional post-apocalyptic lens, the band now announces their sophomore album Ataraxia.

Ataraxia marks a shift inward; the album draws directly from lived experience. Musically, Allt continue to evolve their signature blend of modern progressive metalcore, placing greater emphasis on emotional space and restraint. The aggression remains, but is now placed in direct dialogue with vulnerability. The result is Allt's most intimate, human, and honest work to date.

Allt comment: "With Ataraxia, we wanted to write from the place we actually live in, not an ideal version of it. The album is about the search for peace, but also about the parts of you that resist it. We've all experienced moments where you know what would be better for you, but
something in you pulls in the opposite direction. That tension became a central part of the writing."

Robin Malmgren (Vocals)
Olle Nordström (Guitar)
Adam Björk (Drums)

RADAR Festival 2027 announces first headliner: Mick Gordon performing DOOM in a world-first performance

The genre-busting RADAR Festival is delighted to announce a world-first headliner for its 2027 edition.

Headlining RADAR next year: Mick Gordon.

Mick Gordon is the composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and acclaimed sound designer who turned DOOM's soundtrack into one of the most instantly recognisable pieces of gaming music ever produced.

At RADAR 2027 Mick will bring the DOOM soundtrack to the stage for the first time, featuring the DOOM Machine (his custom DOOM instrument), with a full live band and an orchestra for good measure. This isn't a DJ set, and it isn't a tribute act. It's the actual composer, the actual score - the riffs played properly loud in a room that can withstand all the ripping and tearing.

Mick has never performed this music live, like this. Until RADAR came calling.

Sign up now for first access to Super Early Bird tickets, on sale Friday 7th August: www.radarfestival.co.uk

More information on RADAR Festival:

RADAR - the UK's most exciting progressive music festival - moved to Manchester for its 2023 edition, the third iteration of the festival.

RADAR pride themselves on providing a first home for the best international artists - previous years have seen Dirty Loops' (2022) and The Callous Daoboys' (2023) first UK shows; it was also the first festival to provide a headline slot for Sleep Token (2023).

RADAR 2026, happening as we speak, 31st July-2nd August, is headlined by Welsh ragga metal legends Skindred, deathcore heavyweights Thy Art Is Murder, and technical metal titans Animals As Leaders, alongside a host of the world's best weird and wonderful heavy artists.

RADAR 2025 saw a stellar headline set from darkwave heavyweight Carpenter Brut and metalcore legends UNDERØATH, alongside some of the hottest talent from the UK and further afield.

RADAR 2024's Friday headliners - synth royalty The Midnight - made their UK festival debut in Manchester. Accompanying them were Saturday headliners TesseracT, as the UK prog metal titans delivered a special War Of Being album set. Finally, closing the festival on Sunday, modern progressive titans Leprous performed a world-first live, by request fan set.

RADAR 2023 had Friday headliners Sleep Token joining Periphery (Sunday) and Igorrr (Saturday) among a host of the best from the UK and global progressive underground.

RADAR capped their intensely impressive 2022 by winning the Best New Festival Award at the UK Festival Awards on 6th December in Manchester, and were shortlisted for Best Small Festival and Best Metropolitan Festival at 2023 and 2024's UK Festival Awards.

With their mixture of international talent and confirmed homegrown success, RADAR Festival has already positioned themselves as a champion of forward-thinking, guitar-led progressive music. No genre boundaries, welcome to all, RADAR Festival was launched in 2019 to acclaim, with performances from Animals As Leaders, Agent Fresco, Rolo Tomassi, among others. Following the COVID hiatus, RADAR Festival 2022 expanded to three days with triumphant appearances from Leprous, Haken, Dirty Loops, Plini, Conjurer, Soen and more.

Raphael Weinroth-Browne explores the space between classical and cinematic on new single 'Evocation'

Ahead of the release of his third solo album Empyrean on 11th September, acclaimed Canadian cellist and composer Raphael Weinroth-Browne has unveiled its third single, 'Evocation'. One of the most innovative voices in contemporary cello, Weinroth-Browne has earned international acclaim for dissolving the boundaries between classical composition, ambient sound design and experimental performance. Built entirely from layered live-looped cello, Empyrean transforms a single instrument into an expansive cinematic orchestra, drawing together echoes of Bach, minimalist composition and modern film scores into music that feels both ancient and strikingly contemporary. 'Evocation' captures the heart of the album, marrying Baroque influences with minimalist composition and cinematic atmosphere to create something both timeless and unmistakably contemporary.

Comments Raphael: "'Evocation' was originally composed for the contemporary dance production BACH Reimagined with UK-based company James Wilton Dance. Of all of my recent solo work, this track in particular feels like the soundtrack to a film.

"With this solemn and stately piece, I wanted to reframe Baroque music through the lens of a modern composition for live-looped cello. Evocation takes a similar approach to Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi – The Four Seasons. Baroque-inspired melodies are interwoven like intricate threads with a cyclical arpeggio sequence that has as much in common with J. S. Bach’s keyboard preludes as it does with Philip Glass and electronic music, while the echoes of long, resonant bow strokes pierce the ornate texture like rays of light through stained glass windows. This succinct piece is as much an evocation of musical voices of the past as it is a love letter to the cello itself.

"The music video was shot at the gorgeous Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre in my hometown of Ottawa, Canada. This beautiful space will also be the venue for the Empyrean album launch show this fall."

The origins of forthcoming new album Empyrean itself are as cinematic as the music it contains. In 2024, Weinroth-Browne was commissioned by James Wilton Dance to compose an 80-minute score inspired by the music and legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach. What emerged became BACH Reimagined: a touring multidisciplinary work exploring immortality, artistic transcendence and the pursuit of the sublime through creation.

Rather than simply reinterpret Bach, Weinroth-Browne entered into dialogue with him across centuries. The resulting compositions fuse the purity and mathematical elegance of Baroque counterpoint with distorted textures, electronic ambience and towering rhythmic weight. Tracks such as 'Speed of Light' and 'Dissolution' plunge Bach-inspired motifs into vast storms of noise and metallic tension, while the meditative 'Sanctum' evokes Sufi mysticism and devotional stillness.

“At its core,” Weinroth-Browne explains, “Empyrean is about the search for the sublime. As artists, we spend our lives trying to create something that transcends the everyday, if only for a split second, as if to glimpse eternity through a keyhole.”

Captured at Union Sound Company in Toronto immediately following the sessions for 2025’s critically acclaimed Lifeblood, Empyrean finds Weinroth-Browne operating at the peak of his creative powers. The album was recorded and engineered by Darren McGill (Rush, The Dirty Nil), mixed by Adam Noble (Leprous, Katatonia) and mastered by Robin Schmidt (Leprous), resulting in a sound both immense and intimate, every bow stroke preserved with almost tactile immediacy. Artwork comes from London-based printmaker and collage artist Cally Conway, discovered by Weinroth-Browne in Brighton during the BACH tour.

Watch the videos for previous singles 'Speed of Light' and 'Reflection', and discover Raphael's breathtaking standalone interpretation of Sleep Token's 'Fall For Me' released last month, showcasing yet another side of his remarkable artistry.

The forthcoming release follows a run of widespread critical acclaim. His 2020 debut Worlds Within was praised as "masterful" and "a stunning example of less being more," while 2025's Lifeblood saw Raphael further expand his sound into rich cinematic territory, earning praise as "a triumph of vision and virtuosity" and "the most ambitious album of Weinroth-Browne's career."

That same fearless boundary-pushing has made Weinroth-Browne an essential figure within modern progressive music. His cello work can be heard on hundreds of studio albums, including Woods of Ypres’ Juno Award-winning W5: Grey Skies & Electric Light and across many major film and TV soundtracks. Viral interpretations of Opeth, Katatonia and Steven Wilson have drawn direct praise from the artists themselves, further cementing his reputation as a boundaryless interpreter and composer.

Since joining Norwegian prog visionaries Leprous in 2016, he has performed over 200 shows worldwide and contributed to three of their studio albums, helping redefine the role of cello in progressive heavy music. Beyond Leprous, he has shared stages with Evanescence, Apocalyptica and Devin Townsend.

As a solo artist, Weinroth-Browne has become an ambassador for what the cello can be in the 21st century. He has made waves at prestigious festivals such as the Cello Biennale Amsterdam and the International Cello Festival of Canada and has opened for artists ranging from Polish neoclassical pianist Hania Rani to Nordic folk ensemble SKÁLD and Danish prog metal masters VOLA.

With a busy year of live performances, including a recent European tour with Earthside and an upcoming run alongside Einar Solberg, Raphael Weinroth-Browne continues to expand the possibilities of the cello. With Empyrean arriving later this year, he further cements his reputation as one of the instrument's most adventurous and distinctive modern voices.

Symphonic metal legends KAMELOT unveil grandiose new single

Photo Credit: Timo Maczollek / Nat Enemede

Following the release of the triumphant debut single 'Ashen World' - chosen as one of Metal Hammer’s best tracks of the week - KAMELOT reveal 'Godlike Alchemy', the second single from their forthcoming masterpiece, Dark Asylum, out 28th August via Napalm Records.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/YQQKUK-WwJg

Pre-order the album here: https://lnk.to/Kamelot-DarkAsylum/napalmrecords

The grandiose 'Godlike Alchemy' emerges larger than life with its soaring string arrangements accompanying frontman Tommy Karevik’s goosebump inducing wails. Dynamically expansive and rhythmically infectious, the band flawlessly oscillates between ornate and brutal, with Thomas Youngblood wielding some serious melodic firepower in the solo and breakdown department. Biblical atmosphere with an anthemic chorus, 'Godlike Alchemy' sees KAMELOT firing from all cylinders.

Singer Tommy Karevik commented: "This song encapsulates the overarching theme of the Dark Asylum. What if you don't need to look outside of yourself to find peace and happiness... What if you already possess the power you need to heal and create the reality you want to see? What if we are all magical, powerful beings with unlimited potential? It's a mind boggling thought..."

Set within a shadowed Neo Victorian-era world, Dark Asylum invites listeners beyond the gates of RavenHill Asylum - an imposing institution once built as a grand cathedral, now repurposed into a place where science, faith, and madness uneasily coexist.

KAMELOT push further into cinematic and atmospheric territory on Dark Asylum, diving deeper into theatrical darkness while preserving the signature hooks that define their sound. Candlelight trembles along towering arches and cold stone corridors as you are greeted familiar spectres: Avantasia mastermind Tobias Sammet, Eluveitie’s Lea-Sophie Fischer, Visions of Atlantis’s Clémentine Delauney, Decessus frontwoman and current reigning Miss World Chile champion Ignacia Fernández, Rannveig Sif Sigurðardóttir and Sólveig Sara Leupold, and Billy King. Identity fractures, reality bends, and control slips into unseen hands, guiding its central figure through a descent into psychological darkness that ultimately leads toward transformation… and perhaps sanctuary. From the cinematic sweep of 'Ashen World' to the introspective depth of 'Sanctuary', and the layered mystique of 'Ivy, My Dear', Dark Asylum unfolds as a fully immersive journey, blending orchestral grandeur, haunting melodies, and theatrical storytelling into one cohesive vision.

Will you find sanctuary?
Or will you wander its halls for eternity?

Deepening the immersion of RavenHill, Dark Asylum will be released on a plethora of exciting platforms including standard gold, solid silver, and classic black vinyl editions, certified vinyl with the white label, white splatter, and blood filled variants, the latter of which are each paired with an official 24 page booklet. Multiple CD digipak available, with the two disc version including an instrumental version of the album, alongside cassette and digital options.
