The Meffs are riding high with a non-stop 2026, including appearing alongside Twenty One Pilots at All Points East and supporting the legendary Joan Jett on her first UK headline tour in sixteen years.

The duo will shortly be off on a headline in-store tour. Dates as follows:

Despite a whirlwind 2025, which included supports with The Sex Pistols, The Undertones, selling out headline shows across the UK and Europe, Glastonbury, 2000trees, and Download Festival, Lily (guitar and vocals) and Lewis (drums) somehow managed to find the time to write and record 11 tracks of their most politically charged, hard-hitting music to date.

With producer Dan Weller at the helm, Business is a modern punk classic. Fan favourites like 'So Modern' (Keep Up)' are captured with all the energy and scuzziness from the band's live show, and title track 'Business' goes hard, taking taking aim at the challenges found within today's music industry.

There is no shortage of fast paced moments; 'Love To Lose' is the ideal hype song, while 'Fight' crams minutes of energy into one thirty second burst. Other highlights include 'Disorder (Wake Up)' - a commentary on the world as we know it; or 'Like Gravity', a journey of self-deprecation. On Business, The Meffs prove they are not a band to be pigeonholed.

Since exploding onto the UK scene, The Meffs have built up a reputation as purveyors of frantic punk rock and an absolute must-see live sensation. A hugely impressive DIY outfit, they have already supported Alice Cooper, Kings of Leon at BST Hyde Park, Bearded Theory, Beautiful Days festival, and The Damned. The duo are also Music Venue Trust patrons and longtime supporters of grassroots venues.

Business will only see the band deliver their values to an ever-increasing circle - an unashamedly powerful record, political and astute, and begging to be played loud.

The Meffs are:

Lily Hopkins (vocals/guitar)
Lewis Copsey (drums/backing vocals)

Exist Immortal release new single 'Something, Somewhere'

UK progressive metal force Exist Immortal return with their long-awaited new EP Afterglow, out today, 11th September, via Seek & Strike. Marking the release with a fresh glimpse into the record’s darker emotional territory, the band have also unveiled new single ‘Something, Somewhere’, a raw, restless track that sits firmly in the uncomfortable space between regret, uncertainty and the things we’re not quite ready to confront.

“The rawest, most restless track of the EP. It sits in the uncertainty, the regret, the second-guessing, the things you can’t quite bring yourself to face and doesn’t rush to fix any of it. The honest opening of our story,” the band explain.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/sC7KrUc_FSs

Listen to Afterglow here: https://open.spotify.com/album/0msR4mo0MeBoU1Qj8XjpKj?si=54698adc37ef4a9e

For Exist Immortal, Afterglow is the beginning of a new chapter for the band. Shaped by upheaval and personal struggles, it's a record that reflects where they are now, with a renewed sense of purpose moving forward.

For over a decade, Exist Immortal have established themselves as one of the UK’s most distinctive progressive metal acts, combining crushing metalcore, intricate technicality, soaring melodies and contemporary pop sensibilities into a sound that refuses to sit neatly within genre boundaries. Hailing from the South East of England, the band have continually evolved while retaining a focus on music that hits with equal measures of emotional weight and sheer physical force.

That evolution reaches a new level on Afterglow.  Written during a period of profound upheaval that saw the band navigate a line-up change, personal and health challenges and a period in which their future was genuinely uncertain, the five track EP became an exercise in creative renewal and ultimately, a reaffirmation of why the band exists in the first place.

"Afterglow is the sound of us finding out what this band actually is," the band explain. "We wrote and rebuilt it through a period of real upheaval, a lineup change, personal challenges, health challenges and a stretch that tested whether we'd keep going at all. Somehow it came out the most assured, most deliberate thing we've ever made."

The resulting record is Exist Immortal at their most focused. Stripping away anything unnecessary, Afterglow is colder, heavier and more deliberate than its predecessors, with sharper songwriting, greater dynamic impact and a newfound confidence running through every moment. Technical precision sits alongside huge melodic hooks and expansive atmosphere, while every riff and arrangement serves a clear purpose.

Away from the studio, Exist Immortal have built a formidable international reputation through relentless touring across Europe, Asia and the Americas. Their explosive live show has seen them perform at Download FestivalBloodstock Open AirMetalDaysEuroblastMaximum Rock Festival and Complexity Fest, while sharing stages with progressive heavyweights including SikThTexturesLANDMVRKS and Cynic. In 2022 they headlined the main stage at UK Tech-Fest, before following it up with sold-out headline tours of Mexico and Japan, further cementing their status as one of the UK's most exciting modern progressive metal exports.

Now, with a renewed creative vision driving them forward, Exist Immortal are entering their most compelling era yet. Afterglow doesn't simply mark the band's next chapter, it redefines who they are, with a sound that leans cold, precise and deliberate, built on taut songwriting, dynamic arrangements and an uncompromising approach that balances technical mastery with memorable hooks and immense weight.

Raphael Weinroth-Browne releases new album Empyrean and unveils mesmerising final single 'Murmuration'

Acclaimed Canadian cellist and composer Raphael Weinroth-Browne releases his highly anticipated third solo album Empyrean today, alongside the unveiling of its mesmerising final single, ‘Murmuration’ as he prepares to join Einar Solberg on his forthcoming European tour later this month. Created through Weinroth-Browne’s distinctive combination of live-looping, layered cello and effects, the track transforms the instrument into a vast, ever-shifting soundscape, with insistent rhythms and soaring melodic lines moving together in constant motion.

Originally composed for UK contemporary dance company James Wilton Dance and their production BACH Reimagined, ‘Murmuration’ draws inspiration from both J. S. Bach and trailblazing saxophonist Colin Stetson, its cyclical arpeggios forming the backbone of a piece that feels simultaneously organic, orchestral and otherworldly. Like the flock of birds from which it takes its name, multiple individual voices converge into a single, constantly evolving whole, gathering momentum before ultimately dissolving into an endless horizon.

Watch the video: https://youtu.be/afffd2Y-JPo

Order Empyrean album here: https://raphaelweinroth-browne.bandcamp.com/album/empyrean

Comments Raphael: "'A murmuration is a large flock of birds that soar and swoop together in synchrony, forming one unified ever-changing shape. When I play this piece I am reminded of birds diving and ascending over ocean waves, always in motion, with many individual parts moving as one collective whole. The way in which my compositions come together with live looping feels very similar, with multiple voices interweaving, forming a movement trail with sound. In this piece, insistent rhythms pulse with unrelenting drive while soaring lines reach ever higher, as if to touch the untouchable. At the end, the rhythms fall away and all the voices are unified, fading into an endless horizon.

"The simple but effective setting for the music video for 'Murmuration' recalls the Empyrean cover artwork with its shimmering gold stars and cathedral arch set against a backdrop of oceanic blue."

The track offers a fitting introduction to Empyrean, an album rooted in Weinroth-Browne’s fascination with transformation, impermanence and the space between the composed and the unpredictable. Across its pieces, the cello becomes less a traditional classical instrument and more a vehicle for creating entire worlds of sound, moving between intricate composition, ambient textures, repetition, distortion and experimentalism.

‘Murmuration’ arrives alongside the album’s release and follows the previously unveiled ‘Dissolution’, a mesmerising deconstruction of the Sarabande from Bach’s Sixth Cello Suite which gradually fractures from Baroque elegance into distortion, noise and near-abstract sound. Together, the two recent tracks capture the extraordinary breadth of Empyrean, music that can begin with a single cello voice and expand into something far larger, stranger and more elemental.

The origins of new album Empyrean itself are as cinematic as the music it contains. In 2024, Weinroth-Browne was commissioned by James Wilton Dance to compose an 80-minute score inspired by the music and legacy of Johann Sebastian Bach. What emerged became BACH Reimagined: a touring multidisciplinary work exploring immortality, artistic transcendence and the pursuit of the sublime through creation.

Rather than simply reinterpret Bach, Weinroth-Browne entered into dialogue with him across centuries. The resulting compositions fuse the purity and mathematical elegance of Baroque counterpoint with distorted textures, electronic ambience and towering rhythmic weight. Tracks such as 'Speed of Light' and 'Dissolution' plunge Bach-inspired motifs into vast storms of noise and metallic tension, while the meditative 'Sanctum' evokes Sufi mysticism and devotional stillness.

“At its core,” Weinroth-Browne explains, Empyrean is about the search for the sublime. As artists, we spend our lives trying to create something that transcends the everyday, if only for a split second, as if to glimpse eternity through a keyhole.”

Captured at Union Sound Company in Toronto immediately following the sessions for 2025’s critically acclaimed Lifeblood, Empyrean finds Weinroth-Browne operating at the peak of his creative powers. The album was recorded and engineered by Darren McGill (Rush, The Dirty Nil), mixed by Adam Noble (Leprous, Katatonia) and mastered by Robin Schmidt (Leprous), resulting in a sound both immense and intimate, every bow stroke preserved with almost tactile immediacy. Artwork comes from London-based printmaker and collage artist Cally Conway, discovered by Weinroth-Browne in Brighton during the BACH tour.

Watch the videos for previous singles 'Speed of Light', 'Reflection' and 'Evocation', and discover Raphael's breathtaking standalone interpretation of Sleep Token's 'Fall For Me' released last month, showcasing yet another side of his remarkable artistry.

The new release follows a run of widespread critical acclaim. His 2020 debut Worlds Within was praised as "masterful" and "a stunning example of less being more," while 2025's Lifeblood saw Raphael further expand his sound into rich cinematic territory, earning praise as "a triumph of vision and virtuosity" and "the most ambitious album of Weinroth-Browne's career."

That same fearless boundary-pushing has made Weinroth-Browne an essential figure within modern progressive music. His cello work can be heard on hundreds of studio albums, including Woods of Ypres’ Juno Award-winning W5: Grey Skies & Electric Light and across many major film and TV soundtracks. Viral interpretations of Opeth, Katatonia and Steven Wilson have drawn direct praise from the artists themselves, further cementing his reputation as a boundaryless interpreter and composer.

Since joining Norwegian prog visionaries Leprous in 2016, he has performed over 200 shows worldwide and contributed to three of their studio albums, helping redefine the role of cello in progressive heavy music. Beyond Leprous, he has shared stages with Evanescence, Apocalyptica and Devin Townsend.

As a solo artist, Weinroth-Browne has become an ambassador for what the cello can be in the 21st century. He has made waves at prestigious festivals such as the Cello Biennale Amsterdam and the International Cello Festival of Canada and has opened for artists ranging from Polish neoclassical pianist Hania Rani to Nordic folk ensemble SKÁLD and Danish prog metal masters VOLA.

With a busy year of live performances, including a recent European tour with Earthside and an upcoming run alongside Einar Solberg, Raphael Weinroth-Browne continues to expand the possibilities of the cello. With Empyrean arriving later this year, he further cements his reputation as one of the instrument's most adventurous and distinctive modern voices.

THROATCUT. drop crushing new 'NO KINGS.' EP

German hardcore outfit THROATCUT. unleash their devastating new NO KINGS. EP, accompanied by the brand new track 'BLOOM.', a merciless collision of suffocating heaviness, feral emotion and uncompromising hardcore aggression.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/aY7dU7UeTjU

Stream/pre-order here: https://arisingempire.com/throatcut

Built around images of decay, poisoned roots and severing the ties that keep us trapped, 'BLOOM.' turns destruction into an act of liberation. The song begins in wasted soil, where roots rot and nothing seems capable of growing, before gradually transforming that desolation into something defiant. Every broken branch, every parasite and every scar becomes part of the ground from which something new can emerge.

Musically, THROATCUT. give that transformation a brutally physical form. Jagged riffs, punishing rhythms and vicious screams create an almost ritualistic atmosphere, while the track repeatedly tightens its grip before erupting into crushing passages designed for absolute chaos. The recurring call to “let the willows bloom” becomes more than a refrain. It is the moment where submission gives way to resistance.

VENUES enter a bold new era with powerful new single 'Eden' featuring TOK

German modern metalcore outfit Venues open the door to an entirely new chapter with their brand new single 'Eden', a fierce and deeply personal statement of liberation featuring an explosive guest performance from The Oklahoma Kid vocalist Tobias Rische, formerly of Alazka and Novelists.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/4syDRMblUy4

Stream here: https://arisingempire.com/venues

More than simply a new song, 'Eden' represents a breaking point and a rebirth. Built around the refusal to bend, obey or reshape yourself to fit somebody else's expectations, the track captures the moment when inner conflict finally turns into freedom. Venues leave behind the pressure to constantly become bigger, faster and more successful, choosing instead to reconnect with the instinct and authenticity that made them want to create music in the first place.

Vocalist Lela Gruber explains: "'Eden' feels like the starting point of a new chapter for me, one that stands in complete opposition to the idea of ‘bigger, faster, further.’ We’re all caught in this constant competition where success seems to mean pushing yourself to the edge of burnout. I want to step away from that. To stop comparing myself to everyone around me and return to making music that feels authentic — where the music itself is at the centre.“

That philosophy runs through every second of 'Eden'. Lyrically, the song confronts the exhausting process of twisting yourself into a shape that was never yours, silencing your own emotions and living according to expectations imposed by others. The repeated declaration "I won’t bend for anyone" becomes the song's central mantra, drawing a clear line between the person you were expected to become and the person you choose to be.

blacktoothed deliver devastating new single 'Porcelain'

Leipzig-based modern metalcore band blacktoothed return with their devastating new single 'Porcelain', taken from their upcoming album Feral Bloom, set for release on 15th January. Delivering a brutally honest exploration of emotional emptiness, toxic dependency and the damage left behind when unresolved wounds begin to define every connection, 'Porcelain' offers another powerful glimpse into the darker and more vulnerable world of the upcoming record.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/d8mPWmvcLkA

Stream and pre-order here: https://arisingempire.com/blacktoothed

Built around crushing riffs, relentless screams and one of the band’s most commanding choruses to date, 'Porcelain' finds blacktoothed confronting the darker side of human attachment. At its core, the song depicts love not as salvation, but as something desperately consumed in an attempt to fill an internal void. “Give me all you got / I need your constant love” immediately establishes a relationship shaped by dependency, with another person reduced to a substitute for everything that has already been lost.

As the track unfolds, that desperation turns inward. Old insecurities, self-deception and destructive habits blur the line between genuine affection and emotional survival. The narrator recognizes the damage being caused, yet remains trapped inside patterns they can barely identify, admitting: “In my mind, I can’t detect my lies.” It is a painfully self-aware portrait of someone searching for connection while simultaneously poisoning it.

Musically, blacktoothed mirror that internal conflict with a collision of raw aggression and striking melody. Punishing guitars and visceral screams give way to a gigantic chorus before the song reaches one of its defining moments: a breathtaking clean vocal duet between Hendrik Rathgeber and guitarist Matti Keitel. Their voices bring an unexpected vulnerability to the track, amplifying the contrast between its violent exterior and deeply fragile emotional core.

Get The Shot unleash brutal single 'Crucifixion Depiction' and announce upcoming EP

Canadian hardcore heavyweights Get The Shot return with a devastating new single 'Crucifixion Depiction', a brutal and deeply personal confrontation with loss, failure and the painful death of a dream. The track also marks the launch of the pre-order for the band’s upcoming EP of the same name, set for release on 23rd October.

Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/_A6S4JtXi34

Stream/Pre-order here: https://arisingempire.com/gettheshot

'Crucifixion Depiction' pushes the band's forward while channeling one of the most difficult experiences we face as human beings: losing something that once gave our lives direction and meaning. Built on crushing riffs, merciless grooves and sheer physical intensity, the song turns grief into something violent, visceral and painfully tangible.

Rather than focusing solely on the death of another person, 'Crucifixion Depiction' explores another form of mourning, the moment a future you fought for collapses in front of you and you are forced to grieve the person you thought you would become. Lines such as “I’m losing everything / Is this the end of me?” capture the desperation at the heart of the track, while its imagery grows increasingly brutal as shattered ambition becomes a symbolic execution.

Musically, Get The Shot translate that inner conflict into pure hardcore violence. Punishing rhythms, suffocating heaviness and explosive vocal delivery collide in a track designed to hit with both emotional and physical impact. The stark “Nails. Hammer. Cross.” refrain reduces the song’s central metaphor to three brutal images before its final moments turn sacrifice, self-destruction and liberation against one another.

Dutch hardcore punks John Coffey release haunting grunge single 'Not Alone'

Dutch rock powerhouse JOHN COFFEY return with 'Not Alone', the deeply personal title track of their upcoming album, released 9th October via Long Branch Records.

While the band famously captured global attention years ago with an iconic viral beer-catch moment, the story behind this new release stems from a far more profound human connection.

Dedicated to Niels van den Ham - a father of three who met the band through that viral moment and tragically took his own life two years ago - 'Not Alone' transforms personal struggle and grief into a rallying cry for mental health and community. Drawing a direct line between the solidarity of the mosh pit and everyday life, the track serves as a stark, powerful reminder that no battle needs to be fought in isolation.

Watch the video to 'Not Alone' here: https://youtu.be/dmbsQs1071c

Stream the new single and pre-order the album here: https://johncoffey.lnk.to/notalone

The band state: "Two years ago, when we had just started writing what would become our new album, we learned that Niels van den Ham had taken his own life.

"Niels was a father of three. We got to meet Niels through a moment that went viral years ago. After his death, people close to Niels reached out to us. They told us about the struggles he had been carrying, much of which seemed to remain hidden behind his big smile. We kept thinking about that.

"About how heavy life can become when you’re carrying something alone. How exhausting it can be to fight the same battle inside your own head, over and over again. How scary it can feel when you start believing that this is forever. That nothing will change. That you are the only one who feels this way.

"We wrote 'Not Alone' as a reminder that thoughts are not permanent. That speaking up can matter. To a friend. To family. To a stranger. To anyone.

"Because connection matters.

"It’s why the loud-music scene has always meant so much to us. You step into a room full of strangers. Then someone falls, and the people around them pick them up. Someone jumps from a stage, trusting dozens of hands to catch them. Bodies crash into each other, people scream the same words, and for a moment, a room full of strangers carries each other. That feeling is real.

"This song is for Niels and for everyone carrying weight on their shoulders: You’re not alone."

John Coffey built a reputation as one of the most explosive live bands in Europe - even becoming an internet sensation with the legendary “beer catch”. From Graspop to Sziget, Wacken to Pinkpop, Vainstream to Jera On Air, 2000trees and Hurricane/Southside - the Dutch group have played several of the biggest festivals, sold out the Melkweg in Amsterdam and even launched their own punk rock festival - Coffey Fest - to celebrate community and uncompromising music.

Never shying away from the world around them, John Coffey actively use their platform to speak out on social justice and political urgency. Armed with new music, a fierce activist ethos, and upcoming European tour dates, the band proves that engagement and heavy rock ’n roll are a perfect match.

Alfred van Luttikhuizen (Guitar, Vocals)
