WITHIN THE RUINS release studio diary ahead of new album

Halfway Human out 3rd March via Long Branch Records.

Massachusetts metal veterans WITHIN THE RUINS have upped the ante ahead of their new album release with the unveiling of a new studio diary.

Watch Making of Halfway Human Part 1 here:

The teaser video comes ahead of new album, Halfway Human, due for release on 03.03.17 via Long Branch Records. The band recorded the new effort from their own studio with producer and guitar player Joe Cocchi at the helm. Vocal production took place at Zing studios in Westfield, MA with Jim Fogarty (Killswitch Engage, The Devil Wears Prada).

Halfway Human will be the band's follow up to the critically acclaimed Phenomena LP released in 2014 which Metal Injection called a "well refined album with more surprises than one would expect."

Born and bred in the same heavy metal rich Northeast soil as New Wave Of American Heavy Metal progenitors Killswitch Engage, All That Remains, Unearth and Shadows Fall and weaned on the dark sounds of classic death metal, the technical melodicism of Scandinavia and the precision staccato crunch of Meshuggah, Within The Ruins have busted their collective ass to carve out a unique identity for themselves from those ingredients.

Within The Ruins are refreshingly authentic, feverishly committed and have proven that they will endure. Filled with power, deserving of utter respect, armed with concise compositions and technical might, Within The Ruins will not be stopped.

It is rare that you come across a debut album so starkly beautiful and intensely powerful as Asira’s first release, Efference. A vehement disregard for genre conventions, Efference is a stunning mixture of blues, progressive metal, post-blackened metal and ambience.

Such perfectly melded contradictions capture the essence of Efference. For fans of Alcest, Opeth, Ulver, Anathema, and more, this is an album for all fans of forward thinking heavy music. Post-genre, moving beyond convention.

Asira are a brand new band, with no past. A blank slate for the listener to draw their own conclusions, the band are launching their career with the release of Efference.

Belgian math metallers BEAR premiere new song and video 'Masks'

Album '///' due for release on April 7 via Basick Records

Belgian math metallers BEAR have premiered their new single and video 'Masks' on Metal Injection.

Watch the video here:

The song is the first to be taken from their third full-length album '/// ' which is set for release on 7 April 2017 via Basick Records.

'///' is BEAR’s most evocative and vitriolic album to date, comprising of eleven blistering tracks of crushingly heavy rhythms, distorted harmonies and demonic growls. Bearing resemblance to tech metal forerunners Meshuggah and the no-nonsense aggression of The Dillinger Escape Plan, BEAR have a stylistic quality to them and this album is the exact embodiment of that.

Comments guitarist Leander Verheyen Tsjakalov, "Masks is about people who are afraid of being themselves, they put on a mask but behind that they still are the same person. The video reflects that. Only in the end the lead character in the video, who finds a mask to hide behind, loses her face. It's an analogy for losing your true self if you pretend to be what you are not."

After releasing their last album Noumenon in 2013, the band spent considerable time on the road throughout the UK and Europe, including appearances at UK Tech-Metal Festival, Euroblast and Groezrock.

'///' is released on April 7th via Basick Records.

First premiered on Alternative Press, watch the video for 'Heads Will Hang' here:

FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY will release The Great Collapse on 17 March via Long Branch Records (Europe) and Entertainment One (Rest of the world).

The crushing music of Fit For An Autopsy is for any fan of extreme metal, as it’s devoid of preachy politics or grandstanding soap-boxing, but its sound and fury is absolutely unflinching in purpose. The band expertly blends excessive-force fuelled death metal with atmospheric groove and impassioned personal diatribes, reflecting back the dark state of current events. Their fourth album, The Great Collapse, doesn’t waste time with fantasy bullsh*t or cliché gore horror. Fit For An Autopsy are metal guys, to be certain, but they grew up in the hardcore scene. They embrace the responsibility to put as much devoted purpose into their lyrics and message as they do into their dense, heady, songs, forging a magnificently powerful new post-deathcore.

“When I write a song, I’m trying to feel emotionally connected to it. I really don’t like saying things that don’t matter over music that I want to matter,” says Putney, guitarist, principal songwriter and cofounder. “We’ve always addressed serious topics going back to our first album. We aren’t a politically charged band up on a podium yelling at people – anybody can relate to the aggression, anger, frustration, and sadness often communicated in our music. But we absolutely raise important questions in the lyrics. Those themes are there to discover.”

Putney’s fellow guitarist/cofounder, Patrick Sheridan, strongly agrees. He emphasises that while the music of Fit For An Autopsy may evolve it will always be aggressive and will always have purpose. “We think it's important to carry that torch. Somebody's got to say something about the shit that's going on. If you're not using your music, which is a great platform, for something meaningful that you care about on some level, then you're kind of wasting it.”

The six-men of the New Jersey based group - which includes vocalist Joe Badolato, bassist Peter Spinazola, third guitarist Tim Howley, and drummer Josean Orta - put maximum intentionality into everything they do. They are constantly challenging themselves as musicians, adding to the band’s overall creative arsenal, connecting with audiences around the world, and supporting one another in the band as individual people.

OSIAH premiere new video 'The Harvesting' and announce UK tour dates

"Crushing brutality with startling technical intricacy" - Metal Hammer
"Pure unbridled aggression" - Rock Sound

UK tech-deathcore brutalisers OSIAH have released their horrifically grim new video 'The Harvesting' and announced a forthcoming headline UK tour.

First premiered on Heavy Blog is Heavy, you can check out the video here:

Taken from their recent ferocious debut album Terror Firma which was released in 2016 via SIEGE MUSIC, The Harvesting is the second ominously bleak video to be released by the band.

Comments vocalist Ricky Lee Roper: "Harvesting’ is one of my favourite parts in the concept of Terror Firma; it touches on how empirical knowledge can be misconceived due to fear-based irrational thinking and desperation, this can bring power to mistruths and faith, something that religion has been using to their advantage for years, and have successfully disguised its evil like a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The video touches on how a lack of logical reasoning quickly leads to panic and thus the story begins; our young are infected with an evil disease and the father figures in blind panic abandon reason and turn immediately to faith, a pawn raised on the lies of religion comes as a saviour, but discovers the truth of how alone and powerless he is. At this point in steps a stronger religion, that silently removes the old religion to impose an even more sadistic faith, enforcing it’s will and evil upon the weak and desperate for its own agenda. As has happened for millennia.”

The band have also announced a forthcoming set of tour dates across the UK throughout February and March:

24.02.17 – Manchester - Satan's Hollow

25.02.17 – Plymouth - Underground

26.02.17 – Swindon - Victoria Inn

27.02.17 – Birmingham - Subside

28.02.17 – Margate - West Coast Bar

01.03.17 – London - The Black Heart (with Frontierer)

02.03.17 – Basingstoke - Sanctuary Live
