His first release since second album Nemesis (2014), Million (Part 1) features seven tracks of dark industrial abrasion and sci-fi soundscapes. An undoubtable highlight of the album is a guest performance from Queen’s Brian May on anthemic album closer ‘We Are One’. Having previously collaborated with Roger Taylor, Jayce is among the few elite musicians who can claim to have collaborated with every current member of Queen.

Million is a concept album in two parts. LEWIS explains:

"Right from the beginning, I wanted this to be a concept album...... to take the listener on a committed journey; a series. The subject matter mostly touches on personal experiences, discovery, loss and general life. I think many things within society today has influenced its direction, especially the rapid evolution of technology."

Technical death metal veterans THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD return with new LP
TTEOTD_PRESS_lineup-1000x515-1503069919.jpg

Revered as one of the groups that pioneered modern aggressive technical death metal, Americans THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD triumphantly return with Disomus (13th October, SPV/Long Branch Records).

To celebrate the news, the band are streaming a new track from the album. Listen to 'Obitual' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCjzjxDVmwM

Disomus is the long anticipated follow up to their last LP, Skepsis, released in 2010. Disomus marks the second consecutive album with vocalist Danny Rodriguez and drummer Michael Ranne (a first in the group's impressive history) together with longtime bassist Jake Ososkie and founding guitarist and songwriting engine Justin LongshoreDisomus also doubles as the studio introduction of new guitarist Steven Funderburk (also of Wretched) and the return of original vocalist Anthony Gunnells and his successor, Nate Johnson, via strong guest appearances, bringing Through The Eyes Of The Dead full circle.

"Disomus" is the medical term describing an abnormal fetus with two bodies but one head. The album's subject matter includes the tale of a man buried alive by a cult ("Obitual"), a dark magician's creation of a malignant entity via sacrificial killing ("Haruspex"), underworld spirits doomed to roam the earth ("Dismal"), the Styx River of Greek myth ("Vortices in the Stygian Maelstrom"), the themes of the Alien/Prometheus film franchise ("Teras," alternately named for an abnormal fetus with two heads and one body), and the real life tragedy and horror discovered by Rodriguez, a Chicago police officer, when called upon to check on the well being of an elderly person who lived alone ("Till Solace, She'll Haunt").

'Hate the Living' is not only the name of the first track on Through The Eyes Of The Dead's first album in seven years, but part of a battle cry of sorts that has adorned the band's t-shirts for years. The second half of the phrase is 'Love the Dead.' Like the best of death metal's past, present, and future, Through The Eyes Of The Dead is the kind of band that makes living with death worth loving.

Lifetight Resize.jpg

Forming in July 2017, you don't get much newer than alternative hardcore band LIFETIGHT, who are delighted to announce their debut EP Self-Tightled and signing to Crooked Noise Records.

The impressive EP will be released on November 3rd, following the band's first single 'Energy' which is already causing quite a stir.

Watch ‘Energy’ here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbCUAargbP0

In the band's own words:

"LIFETIGHT is a band built on positive energy and our upcoming EP Self-Tightled is purely built upon riffs fuelled by that energy! We're stoked to be releasing this with Crooked Noise as they've shown interest from the beginning and seem to know the exact vibe we're going for. Basically, they understand us completely, and we like that."

Rising from the ashes of Lock & KeyLIFETIGHT’s Self-Tightled is a straight-up, no-holds-barred, two-stepping alternative hardcore EP in the finest traditions of the genre. For fans of Hatebreed and Beartooth, the band draw on personal experiences in writing the EP (mental health, the military) to create this positive energy.

Although having played no shows at this point, the band have a busy Autumn ahead, playing Deadbolt Festival (alongside Oceans Ate AlaskaWSTR, and more), Canvas’ album release show in London, and Our Hollow, Our Home’s inaugural one-day festival, Holloween.

Championed by Alex Baker of Kerrang! This is a fast-building band built purely on positivity in an impressively short space of time. More to come.

Thumpermonkey announce Electricity EP and premiere single 'Tzizimime'
5D3_0981.jpg

London alt-rock quartet THUMPERMONKEY have unveiled new single 'Tzizimime' and announced the release of new EP Electricity via Rockosmos on 13 October.

Premiered on Prog mag, check out 'Tzizimime' here: http://vevo.ly/yjCduZ

Electricity offers delicate flavours of genre mastery in THUMPERMONKEY’s songwriting, be it King Crimson’s meticulousness, flamboyant cinematics circa Scott Walker or a dominant presence on the drum kit and guitars that parallels Queens of the Stone Age. Vocalist Michael Woodman channels a certain ambience akin to what you would imagine if David Bowie met Cardiacs.

The EP is inspired by the story of Victorian MP and visionary Lord James Badger, who, under divine instruction almost two hundred years ago, set out to conquer nature and “restore” the civilisations of Mesopotamia with the new power of Electricity.

THUMPERMONKEY have also announced an EP release show at the Black Heart in Camden on 6 October, get tickets here: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/406245

Electricity is the band’s 7th release and a full-length is expected in 2018.

Irish Progressive Sludge Metallers ZHORA Announce Forthcoming Tour

These days we can't go running after people with swords and spears so we must instead fight with our hearts and minds. These upcoming launch shows for Ethos, Pathos, Logos will be our best live shows to date and we are honoured to share the stage with some of our closest friends in support. Éire...show me what you got!"

More about zhOra:

Over the span of six years zhOra have quickly become one of the most recognisable names in the burgeoning Irish metal scene. In this time the band has released one EP Feet Nailed to the Ground (2011) and their debut LP Almaz (2013), both releases garnering huge praise within the scene. Now in 2017, the band is set to undertake the next stage in their journey, Ethos, Pathos, Logos.

In the only predictable aspect of the band's sonic trajectory, Ethos, Pathos, Logos finds the band once again putting themselves under their own microscope and refining their approach. With a lush cover designed by acclaimed Visionary Artist Jake Kobrin, the record is zhOra's first back-to-back concept album, an hour long journey through past lives and cannibalism.

Having played shows the length and breadth of the country and toured extensively through the UK, Germany, France, Belgium and Holland, the band is fiercely committed to their craft and putting their name on everyone's radar.

No strangers to high profile slots, zhOra have supported and toured with bands such as The Ocean, Coilguns and Dictated among others. Earning a slot on the Headbanger Stage at Wacken Open Air 2016 was the culmination of this time together and the commitment to creating an unrelenting sonic fingerprint and fearsome stage show. Recently the band appeared at Bloodstock Open Air as winners of the Irish leg of the associated Metal to the Masses competition.

With plans to tour into 2018 in support of Ethos, Pathos, Logo, the band plans to kick those who would listen squarely in the throat, onto the path less travelled.

UK Extreme Noise Outfit HELPLESS Stream New Album Ahead of Release
11.jpg

UK extreme noise-makers HELPLESS are streaming their critically acclaimed debut album Debt, ahead of it's release this Friday, September 8 via Holy Roar Records

Exclusively premiered by The Independent who are calling the band 'merchants of savagery', the full album can be listened to here: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/helpless-debt-exclusive-album-stream-a7928396.html

Debt, a 10 song excursion in dissonance, does everything it needs to in the time it takes most bands to open up. This is no drawn out prog opus; instead, a supremely dark, engagingly short, sharp, shock to the system. If further musical pointers are needed then perhaps the menace of early Gaza and the turn-on-a-dime musical dexterity of Breather Resist often combined with grindcore would be a good place to start.

Having previously delivered on their promising self titled EP, HELPLESS have returned with a savagely blunt album that not only increases their sonic intensity tenfold, but expands their palate from a chaotic hardcore base into grindcore, noise rock and even figurative elements of death and black metal. This is not for the faint of heart.

Debt will be released on September 8 via Holy Roar Records and is available to pre-order here: http://bit.ly/HelplessUK and distributed via Deathwish in the USA

Catch the band on tour this weekend with label mates Wren and Watchcries.

Fri 8 Sept - Soan, Nottingham
Sat 9 Sept - Bad Apples, Leeds
Sun 10 Sept - The Peer Hat, Manchester

FSOF Resize .jpg

Melodic tech-rock quintet FIRST SIGNS OF FROST have released the video for their latest single 'Meat Week', taken from their latest EP The Shape Of Things To Come - out now via Basick Records.

"The song itself is about the Syria crisis and the divide of people in the U.K. I went out to Calais a couple of years ago and witnessed protesters waiting at the shoreline at Dover," explains guitarist/vocalist Owen Hughes-Holland."'Meat Week' was then written from the perspective of one of the protesters, with their blind sighted, one dimensional view and sheer anger towards the people fleeing their country for survival."
