Guitar Prog Chiptune Artist Danimal Cannon Releases Rush - Subdivisions Cover
Danimal 1.jpg

The astonishingly inventive progressive chiptune artist Danimal Cannon has released his unique take on the Rush classic, 'Subdivisions'.

Premiered via Music Radar/Total Guitar (who say it 'will blow your mind'), watch 'Subdivisions' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ny-UxcAV3bk

Danimal Cannon (Daniel Behrens) is a scientist-turned-videogame composer and solo musician. Well regarded in the indie videogame music world, Danimal combines an incredibly eclectic range of influences to create something totally unique. Equal parts industrial, prog rock, electronic – this is 8-bit metal.

Dan's music is composed using a 1989 Nintendo Gameboy, resulting in an entirely new musical world, where retro 8-bit timbres complement incredibly tasteful solo guitarwork.

Sitting comfortably in both the prog and metal worlds, Danimal Cannon’s success in the indie programming/videogame community has seen him tour with Powerglove and The Protomen, as well as playing alongside Animals as Leaders and Chon, and headlining five indie electronic music festivals across the world. Having sold over 10,000 albums previously, the sky’s the limit for this one-of-a-kind musician.

Post-hardcore band SECRETS stream new track; tease LP details
Secrets 2017.jpg

US post-hardcore band SECRETS have streamed a new track ahead of their European and UK tour.

First streaming via Rock Sound, you can now listen to 'Five Years' here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqkJV_T6X3M

Teasing news of their highly-anticipated new album, the band state:

"'Five Years' is pure anger. It's about trying to explain to someone that you don't want them in your life anymore, not just as your significant other, but even as an acquaintance and they just don't get it. We all enjoyed writing "Five Years" because it takes us back to our heavy side a bit and it's the first song that we got to fully unleash Wade and showcase how great of a vocalist he is. This will be Wade's second record with the band and since having him we have finally found a sound that we are all proud of.

The band has been locked up in studios with different producers writing and recording this record for basically an entire year. over that time we also moved from Rise Records to Made In The Shade. We felt that Made In The Shade would offer us more opportunities and the means to record the best record possible and they absolutely helped immensely with the process."

The Californian group are readying themselves for their fourth LP. Their previous three albums charting and amassing tens of thousands of sales, the band are firmly on the up. Forming in 2011 SECRETS have already toured with the likes of SlavesAsking AlexandriaIce Nine Kills, the US Warped Tour. 2018 will be the year of SECRETS.

Set to be released in early 2018, SECRETS' new album will be self-titled as the band press forward with a bigger and more mature sound. Stay tuned for more information as it comes.

Having utterly obliterated the stages at UK Tech-Fest, Deadbolt, Macmillan Fest and Mosh On The Tyne, as well as sharing the stage with the likes of Decapitated and Heart Of A Coward, BORDERS have upped the ante in 2017, creating an even more ominous and demonic presence. Since joining the band before the release of Diagnosed, Jordan “JJ” Olifent brings a stylistic change to BORDERS’ sound, with his raw and vitriolic screams combined with the creative riff patterns and polyrhythmic quality of the instruments ushering in a new and improved sound that pushes them further from any one particular genre of metal.

CREATE TO INSPIRE and CANVAS announce 2018 co-headline tour with special guests SKYWALKER
23131560_1585349711566140_1332861583914724293_n.jpg

Basick Records label mates CREATE TO INSPIRE and CANVAS have announced a 2018 co-headline tour, set to take place across six dates in January. They will be joined by special guests SKYWALKER

Dates for the tour are as follows:

10.01.2018 - London, 229 The Venue
11.01.2018 - Cardiff, Fuel
12.01.2018 - Derby, The Hairy Dog
13.01.2018 - Manchester, Satan's Hollow
14.01.2018 - Glasgow, The Garage Attic
15.01.2018 - Sheffield, Corporation

CREATE TO INSPIRE released their debut album Sickness in May, whilst CANVAS released Worry in October, both via Basick Records. SKYWALKER released their Sugar House EP in September.

Sickness is an album full of post-hardcore fury with flavours of melodic ambience, making for an exhilarating listen and showcasing a band that has matured leaps and bounds both musically and lyrically, fuelling a new-found fire in the CREATE TO INSPIRE machine.

Watch the band's video for 'Blue': https://youtu.be/5BIhcfanmbg

Bands that well and truly hit you at the core - whether it's through crushing heaviness or pure emotional atmosphere - are very hard to come by nowadays, yet CANVAS' take on post-hardcore is as hard-hitting as it gets. Not ones to shy away from getting their hands dirty within their own creations and taking a heavy DIY approach, the quintet have spent the last couple of years jumping in their van and playing shows anywhere and everywhere from clubs and houses, to garages and practice spaces.

Check out 'Haunt You' here: https://youtu.be/_8EM4M5JeDs

Liverpool-based four-piece SKYWALKER crush speed and aggression with melodic hooks and bouncy choruses. They firmly put themselves in the skate punk scene, taking their emotional post-hardcore inspiration from the likes of Crooks and Counterparts, whilst retaining the strength of their massive pop-punkesque choruses that wouldn't look at out of place in a Neck Deep track. Unstoppable drive and determination has quickly built SKYWALKER a strong fanbase across Europe, and earned them shows alongside the likes of NOFXMadballAnti-FlagLimp Bizkit and more.

Watch the video for 'Caffeine', which features CREATE TO INSPIRE frontman Sean Midsonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqOZu3JCkkI
