COLD NIGHT FOR ALLIGATORS are a respected and forward-thinking progressive metal outfit from Copenhagen, Denmark. Swaying the world with their innovative take on technical metalcore and playing numerous shows including Euroblast, UK Tech-Fest, and even the far east of India, these guys are no freshmen.

Playing a heady mix of downtuned, fuzz-laden guitars, the quintet kick out some of the raunchiest riffs in rock draped over elephantine grime and groove on their debut to create a sound that is as irresistibly catchy as it is crushingly heavy. 

Working with the legendary Chris Fielding at Skyhammer Studios, the producer behind such mammoth sounds as Electric Wizard, Conan, Primordial, Witchsorrow, Winterfylleth and mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate, OLD), BARBARIAN HERMIT’s Solitude and Savagery bears seven bruising tracks of pummelling groove metal that smoulders with swampy rawness and feral energy.

Comments guitarist Adam Robertshaw: "Solitude and Savagery isn't exactly a concept album but there are themes and recurring motifs that our vocalist Ed has woven through the album's lyrical tapestry, such as the struggle between dark and light, the exploration of one's inner self and the search for truth. This is all tied together nicely with the gnarly artwork by Manchester artist MrHass, which is a depiction of the original hermit, Diogenes of Sinope, a guy who would walk around in broad daylight with a burning lamp and when people would ask what he was doing he'd reply “looking for an honest man".

Working with Chris Fielding at Skyhammer studio was a dream come true for us too. The man is a genius and such a pleasure to work with. His ear is incredible and once he got to know us and what we were about he really got on board, suggesting harmonies or adaptations here and there, which really gave the songs a boost. With anyone else we'd have recorded a good album. With him made a great one. We hope people have as much fun listening to it as we did making it."

BARBARIAN HERMIT are a five piece doom/sludge/Stoner act, based in Manchester, England. Formed in 2013 from former members of disbanded Manchester bands Bisonhammer, Arke, Severed Fate, Random Act of Violence, Mountains Became Machines and That Sunless Tide and the disbanded South Korean band FatalFear.

The band have been gigging heavily around the UK for the last few years. Recently, playing at big events like HRH festival, Bloodstock Festival and supporting big names like Raging Speedhorn, Dopelord and Crowbar. Their debut self-titled EP came out in early 2016 and received rave reviews from the press and will follow this up with their debut album Solitude and Savagery which is set for release from APF Records in November 2018.

Indian/American progressive metal band SKYHARBOR have released the title-track from their upcoming LP called Sunshine Dust via Consequence of Sound.

"'Sunshine Dust' is the personal favorite for us," says guitarist Keshav Dhar. "It was written at the end of the Guiding Lights sessions and has gone through a lot of metamorphoses before arriving at its current form, with Kim from Dead Letter Circus co-writing a lot of the melodies. It encapsulates everything that defines our sound, the heart-on-sleeve emotion, drenching ambiance, and big riffs. It's possibly Eric's finest moment on the record."

The band most recently "Dissent" via Revolver Magazine. Prior to that, they released a music video for “Dim” with Alternative Press.
 

SKYHARBOR will hit the ground running once their record is released. The band are scheduled to perform at this year's LOUDER THAN LIFE FESTIVAL in Louisville, KY on September 28, 2018. Skyharbor will then continue on through various stops in the U.S. with 10 YEARS and TREMONTI. This is the first time the band are performing on American soil since their run with BABYMETAL this past spring.

Last summer Toronto's SINGLE MOTHERS released their sophomore album Our Pleasure, the follow up to their critically-celebrated debut Negative Qualities, and a release that explored the more pop oriented side of frontman Drew Thomson's songwriting.

Today the band are releasing their first new music since that album with the Revolver Magazine premiere of 'Switch Off', a searing sub minute thirty blast of post-hardcore that represents a hard swing in the opposite direction.

The track, described by Revolver as "84 seconds of pure punk rock fury," deals in the frank self-reflection that has become Thomson's calling card, as he explains to the magazine: "'Switch Off' is kind of about testing who you are and who you could be and who you want to be, switching off the past ‘you’ and shedding that old skin while taking a step forward - giving that ‘new improved you’ a spin for a bit and seeing just how the new skin fits. Sometimes a change can last, sometimes it can't - but just ‘trying’ is the first step to succeeding, right? Hard to say for sure.  A lot of ground can be made before the past starts pulling your ankles, tapping you on the shoulder, beckoning your name. ’All I Had to do was switch off’ - sounds easy but it ain’t, most demons don’t just go away.”

UK headline tour starts September 27th

London rock band Black Orchid Empire have released their new song 'Burn' today. It's the third single taken from their current studioalbum YUGEN that has been released on May 25th, 2018 via Long Branch Records. 

Of 'Burn', Paul Visser (Vocals, Guitar) said:
"One of my earliest negative memories is sitting in my high chair as a toddler watching a tiny 80s TV as the Challenger space shuttle blew up in mid air. I based these lyrics on that experience – partly my memories of it, partly my thoughts about it now. The music is based around a big riff and soaring chorus with some cool switchups towards the end. I love the melancholy breakdown and chanty buildup section in the middle, it's powerful and poignant and beautiful as well as technical."

The video for the song has been directed by Jay Hillyer and includes powerful live footage from Black Orchid Empire's live performance at Download Festival 2018.

Recorded and mixed by Chris Fielding at Skyhammer Studios in the UK, the resulting album is a danger-fuelled 30 minutes of Battalions own brand of bleak, swaggering, riff-infused groove metal-meets-harsh-punk sound. To quote the band, this is ‘pure Humber sludge’.

Forever Marching Backwards is the follow up album to the band's 2017 release Moonburn and brings to the table a tighter, punchier, dirtier sound with bigger riffs and extra swagger. 

BATTALIONS was formed in early 2010 in the coastal city of Hull, UK. Their fanbase and support has steadily grown through incendiary live shows throughout the UK including high-profile support slots with Conan, Church Of Misery, Sworn Enemy, Ohhms, Slabdragger, Samothrace, Dopethrone and Vinnum Sabbathi. In 2017 they played on the Hobgoblin Stage at Bloodstock Open Air Festival, and headlined the Motorhead Roadcrew Stage at the 30,000-capacity Humber Street Sesh.
 
The band’s first two albums, 2016’s Nothing To Lose and 2017’s Moonburn received universal critical praise.
