Dutch metallers FOR I AM KING announce new album and release new video

'Forever Blind' available now

New album I due 7 December 2018 via Redfield Records

Amsterdam metal quintet FOR I AM KING have announced the release of sophomore album I on 7 December via Redfield Records and have unveiled new video 'Forever Blind'.

Watch 'Forever Blind' here: https://youtu.be/LSXkH6uFuug

I is 12 tracks of ferocious modern metal where chaos and aggression are equalled with precision and finesse. The album introduces the concept of the ‘I-factor’, a 3.0 variant of the much sought-after X-factor. I is the ninth letter of the modern Latin alphabet, it has importance in the fields of mathematics and chemistry, I is the symbol for electric current and is an abbreviation for international. For FOR I AM KING, the ‘I-factor’ lies in the combination of the musical components: modern, complex, furious but catchy metal with infectious melodies and uniquely aggressive vocals.

On the new material, guitarist Koen Scheepens comments: "When we started writing the new material, we absolutely did not want to limit ourselves to musical genres. After a while we gradually noticed that we were able to include everyone's personal taste and ideas into the unity that ‘I’ eventually became. The result is a new face, in which the old one, our debut album ‘Daemons’ (2016, Redfield Records), is still visible. ‘I’ is certainly still metal, influenced by bands like IN FLAMES, TRIVIUM, DARKEST HOUR, ARCH ENEMY or KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, but it’s more accessible than our first EP ‘Revengeance’ and more contemporary than ‘Daemons’. ‘I’ sounds familiar, refreshing and characterizes the growth of the band – as friends and musicians."

Bassist Jurgen van Straaten comments on the overarching theme of I“Only I as a person can influence the choices that I make and only I am directly responsible for the consequences of these choices. Whether this choice is good or bad. There is good and bad in everyone of us and it is up to you to choose how to live your life.”

I features and socially engaged lyrics and themes, and some that are inspired by personal experiences, in particular the childhood of Persian front-woman Alma Alizadeh in Iran. "I lived in Iran until I was 11 years old and then had to flee to the Netherlands with my mother – the new song ‘Home’ finds its inspiration there. The Persian art style Qajar served as the main inspiration for the artwork of ‘I’. We have tried to translate the lyrics into a number of stylistic images. On the album cover you see a king (the I), next to him a woman (as the source of life) and on the other side you see death. In the artwork and in other expressions of For I Am King, the colour gold is a recurring theme. For us, gold symbolizes the transition of the soul of a bad person, that’s filled with greed, hatred and selfishness, into someone who puts passion, virtue and love high on his banner."

FOR I AM KING will be touring relentlessly through 2019, dates to be announced soon.

“I had a dream about Lemmy,” says Matt Pike, explaining the inspiration behind the title of HIGH ON FIRE’s triumphant new album.“When Lemmy was still alive I always got compared to Lemmy,” the gravelly-voiced guitarist elaborates, “so I had this dream where he got pissed at me."

"He gave me a bunch of sh*t, basically, and was hazing me. Not that he didn’t approve of me, but like I was being hazed. The song is me telling the world that I could never fill Lemmy’s shoes because Lemmy’s Lemmy. I wanted to pay homage to him in a great way. And it turned out to be such a good title that the guys said we should call the album Electric Messiah."

Alt-rock trio LOOSE TOOTH release video for 'AXIS'
Loose Tooth Resize .jpg

Fresh off the back of the release of 'Castles', alt-rock trio LOOSE TOOTH reveal their second single of 2018, 'AXIS'. An aggressive response to the woes of the modern age, 'AXIS' is out now on digital platforms via Undead Collective

Check out the lyric video for 'AXIS' here: https://youtu.be/XiGrua-D0mA

Stream 'AXIS': https://open.spotify.com/track/54OMcf9H5bAFrzsenhEW7W?si=ShUUMhj-TW6KXCx9R243mg

The band comment on the new single:

"AXIS is a song about the way we each deal with corporate oppression, in a world where changing the status quo is impossible, the only way to survive is to cope. We each have different mechanisms for coping and AXIS is ours.

Angry and bitter as we may be, you can build a life. We've done that through getting on as best we can in the daily grind and accessing our negative emotions creatively through music. Hopefully this comes across in the song and other people can engage with it, plus it's one of our heaviest tracks filled with every riff we could come up with. Catharsis through aggression can be productive it turns out."

With influences of old favourites Reuben and RefusedLOOSE TOOTH weave emotion-fuelled post-hardcore with upbeat melodies to carve a nostalgic but fresh sound. 2017 saw the trio release their self-titled mini-album, which charted at #93 in the iTunes UK Rock Chart, and tour alongside UK punks Drones. Keeping the momentum going the band released standalone single 'Castles' earlier this year, which saw support from Kerrang! Radio presenter Alex Baker who said they have "such a vibe."

LOOSE TOOTH will be accompanying their label mates Brightlight City on tour in October (12-19) in support of the new single.

After a huge response following the release of their debut album Inguz, NORMANDIE inked a deal with Easy Life Records earlier this year. Inguz, a Viking rune, symbolised the band's new direction after the departure of their heavier co-vocalist, where they honed-in on a groundbreaking rock sound and have since seen support from the Radio 1 Rock ShowKerrang! Radio, Rock SoundKerrang! TV, Scuzz TV and more. The soaring melodies are captivating, the choruses are explosive, and overall NORMANDIE deliver a spine-tingling sound that wouldn't sound out of place in arenas.

The band’s live show has blown away crowds throughout the UK and Europe, with several headline runs including a sold out show at London's Boston Music Room. They also supported Yellowcard on tour and have numerous festival appearances under their belts, including their Download Festival (2017) and Reading & Leeds Festival (2018) debuts.

NORMANDIE are paving their way to success and it’ll only be a matter of time before they turn heads even further across the globe.

UK Tech Metal pioneers THE ARUSHA ACCORD stream new EP

Juracan out today, 28th September

The Arusha Accord.jpg

Reading, UK tech-metal pioneers THE ARUSHA ACCORD are streaming their new EP, Juracan, which is released today, 28th September.

THE ARUSHA ACCORD started work on new material for Juracan in 2016 and have released two singles from the EP, 'Blackened Heart' and 'Vultures'.

THE ARUSHA ACCORD made a triumphant return to the stage as Thursday headliners at UK Tech Fest 2017, but their comeback was cut unexpectedly short when Alex Green (vocals) parted ways with the group shortly after, and later that year Tom Hollings (guitar) moved on to concentrate on other projects. The remaining members took a step back to work out their next move, and the decision was made to finish Juracan as a quartet.

The first of four planned EPs, Juracan is five tracks of furiously complex yet masterfully organised riffs and rhythms, with vocalist Paul Green stepping up to impressively handle solo vocal duties. Recorded at Middle Farm Studioswith Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood and mastered by Prash Mistry, the band’s performance and composition is presented with profound sonic impact. It’s the sound of a band who have been through many highs, lows, with their commitment and determination fully tested, resulting in them sounding stronger and more impressive than ever.

Vocalist Paul Green explains: “We decided to title the record Juracan due to the turbulent time we had with this record, I think chaos & disorder sums that phase up perfectly. Despite the knock backs we have had and there have been a whole bunch this past year, we’re the strongest we’ve ever been, more unified and passionate about this project and excited to finish the next three EPs!”

Technical metal has evolved over the past seven years, however THE ARUSHA ACCORD’s unique approach to creating music is still hugely relevant and unmatched by their modern contemporaries. And with the likes The Dillinger Escape Plan and HECK calling it a day, the band look set to step up to fill the void of controlled chaos left behind.

Purchase Juracan, including limited vinyl packages, here: https://www.arushaaccord.com/shop/

Track list:

1.    Blackened Heart
2.    Vultures
3.    The Road (Amor Vincit Omnia – Part 1)
4.    Beneath The Dule Tree
5.    The Dark Pane

THE ARUSHA ACCORD are:

Paul Green / Vocals
Luke Williams / Bass Guitar
James Clayton / Guitars

THE INTERSPHERE release new single 'Secret Place'

New album The Grand Delusion out November 30th

Almost five years after the release of their Relations in the Unseen album, German alternative rock band THE INTERSPHERE are back with the new single 'Secret Place'. The track is taken from the band's 5th studio album The Grand Delusion which is set to be released on November 30th, 2018 via Long Branch Records.

Singer and guitarist Christoph Hessler commented on 'Secret Place':

"This song deals with the most important characteristic that makes us human: The ability to create, imagine, and dream as well as the challenge of creating free spaces in the midst of a superficial, conformed and externally determined world that make thinking, acting and creating worthwhile.“

Listen to the single here: https://theintersphere.lnk.to/thegranddelusion
YouTube: https://youtu.be/VWICkgBIrKg

The background for the album The Grand Delusion is the highly subjective question that is not only posed by Paul Watzlawick in his eponymous book, but that has now reached a completely new dimension in the madness of media coverage: How real is reality? The songs are not only concerned with thinking and acting in sociological and societal contexts, in systems, orders and interpretations of reality created by humans, but also with reflecting on oneself, introspection and the question “What foundation is my own reality based on?”.  Almost five years after the last release, and after personal crises and changes, The Grand Delusion is lyrically the most personal album to date from THE INTERSPHERE, but also one of the most varied, loudest and angriest.

Hessler continues: “The production aimed at recording the four main instruments live and as close up, big and detailed as possible, and thus duplication was largely avoided. We also experimented with new open tunings and countless distortion and fuzz pedals that make the sound more distorted and dirty. But there are also a couple of opulently arranged songs that enrich the sounds of The Intersphere with new colours and facets that people have never heard from us before.”

Like its predecessor, Relations in the Unseen, the album was produced by Christoph Hessler and THE INTERSPHERE, recorded live at Toolhouse Studios in Rotenburg (Germany), mixed and co-produced by Moritz Enders and mastered by Robin Schmidt. The artwork was once again created by the band's longtime associate Pierre Schmidt Dromsjel.
